Qam Channel listings??

Where can I get the listing of channels available via clear QAM?
Also, if verizon monitors these boards, I'd love to hear why non pay channels (TBS, Spike etc) aren't available via clear QAM?
Thanks all.

  • MSI Digivox ATSC Tuner stick-won't scan QAM channels

I am using 2 digivox ATSC tuner sticks with the latest build of J River Media Center (QAM capable) as the host software and that setup works great to pull in my local OTA channels using one of the Digivox units connected to an attic antenna.
BUT, my second Digivox connected to Comcast will not scan any clear QAM channels no matter what I try. Comcast told me they use Standard frequency on their Clear QAM, but I have tried all frequencies (HRC, IRC, etc, etc) just in case. Ideas?

  • QAM Channel Assignments Keep Changing

I have a line of my FIOS split off to a QAM TV tuner that's attached to my PC.  I'm using Windows Media Center to record QAM channels, and using the Media Center channel guide for the QAM channels.  However, it seems that Verizon keeps changing the channel assignments for the QAM channels.  It seems to involve the CBS assignment.
Last week the channel that was assigned to CBS changed to something else, and therefore the CBS shows that I had set to record were not recorded, recording instead whatever was on the reassigned channel.  So I ran the Windows Media Center TV setup again, to have it re-assign the QAM channels, and it seemed to work, displaying live CBS content on the channel suppsedly assigned to CBS.  However, this week it looks like they changed the assignment again, after I did that, and the channel actually recorded was Universal Sports instead of CBS.  So I had to go and re-run the TV setup to get the new channel assignments.
    What gives, Verizon?

We are in the middle of deployment of our 1.9 interactive menu guide software for our set top boxes and apologize if changes needed to made are causing an inconvenience.

  • QAM channels-is verizon still carrying them?

My tv tuner stopped getting any Qam channels about 3 days ago.  called support and they were clueless.  wanted to reset my cable box and said cable box was problem.  finally he said he asked someone else and that they were doing work and should be back up but no timeframe given.  I tried rescanning but still do not get anything.  I am with verizon howard county/anne arundel county in Maryland.  Anyone have any info on this issue?

One possibility is that Verizon has done something to the PSIP (the header infromation that allows your device to translate QAM channel 70.2 and display it as the local station like 6.1).  This has happened several times at different VHOs in the past and the channel is in the clear but not in a manner which you recognize.
Still tunes fine for me in VHO8 (Philly area).

  • 40SL500U - Tuning one QAM channel jumps to another QAM channel

My cable company is Armstrong Utilities.  I have 3 TVs, none with a set top box.
    I used to get these HDTV 720p channels on all 3 TVs:  128-1, 128-3, 128-5, 128-6
Recently channel 128-5 moved to 68-5.  I can no longer tune any 128 sub channel.  Tuning any 128 channel jumps to 68-5.
When I go into setup and manually tune 128 it shows one channel:  68.5.  68.5 in now ratio 4:3 and 480i resolution.
    On my other two TVs I can tune 128-1, 128-3, 128-6 and they are 720p and 16:9.  68-5 is 4:3 and 480i.
When I display the info on my ViewSonic TV it shows:  "68-5 E1_5 WQ".  The station is WQED and I think that's where the "WQ" comes from.
Attached is a scan done on my PC TV tuner.
So, I can not tune any subchannel on channel 128.

More information in the attached photo of the Manual Tuning screen.  In the upper right corner in the green you can see that I entered channel 128 and then pressed OK to scan.  The only channel found is 68.  My other 2 TV tuners find 4 subchannels on 128.

  • Tampa Clear QAM channels

What are the channels available in Clear QAM in Tampa?  Are the PEG channels included?  What about the Music Channels?

AFAIK the PEG and music channels are all in clear QAM from all VHOs.  You should also find your local SD and local digital (HD).

  • QAM Channel LIst DC/MD/VA

I am thinking of downsizing and dropping 1-2 STBs. I can get a bunh of channels with the QAM tuner on my TV, So far, so good.
But the channels are everywhere. Is there a listing of the channels available in the DC/MD/VA market?

Keep in mind Verizon has a habit of moving them from time to time.  The HD OTA channels should map to their OTA number, but the SD versions don't have the PSIP encoding to allow that. Other than the PEG stations that is allt hat you will be able to get since the rest of the channels are encrypted and unless your TV has a cable card slot (and you rent a cable card from Verizon).
BTW - the list linked to does not match my Sharp TV's QAM mapping in style.  Mine are all shown as 63.1, 53.2, etc. so that may or may not be helpful.

  • The FIOS Channel Listings need to be rearranged.

When I first got FIOS over a year ago, there were slightly less channels, and the channels that were here were well organized by the group of 10 they were in. For example, the 50s are for major entertainment channels. The 70s to 90s are for Sports. It's logical.
But since then, Verizon have seemed to add channels at random. In the 190s, you have both Chiller and FearNET... as wel as E!... as well as the TV Guide Network, FuelTV, and ABCFamily. None of those are related. A ton of these channels need to be rearranged. Why is Sleuth inbetween Bravo and Logo? The 180s are as follows:
    180 - Syfy
    181 - A&E
    182 - CRIME
    183 - truTV
    184 - GSN
    185 - Bravo
    186 - Sleuth
    187 - LOGO
    188 - Ovation
    189 - BBC America
There is a logic to that. A&E, CRIME, and truTV should be togther, for example. But Syfy does not belong here. BBC America does not either, although it fits in well with 190 and 191, so I assume you could make that argument, though it breaks the channel listing logic.
The 460s and up don't make any sense to me. I don't even remember I have them. It's a random collection of channels that seem like they belong before the 50s, and are instead dumped at the end of the lineup. At the VERY LEAST, they should be before the PPV Channels, and not after. There's a bunch of PBS channels here, which is bizarre since there are a bunch of PBS channels in the <50s. And while I know you can't fit them in there because of all the Local Channels, it is confusing to me, as well as seemingly hiding the channels from me.
In addition to that, what is with the HD Channels? Some of them don't match their non-HD channel listing number. The Disney Channel is 250, for the non-HD version. For some reason, it is 780 in the HD version. It should be 750.
There are many areas where I would like to see improvement in simple things such as that. It's a much easier thing to fix than adding all the HD Channels I'd want

The only way i can see to do this, is to select your audio track in the timeline and export using Quicktime conversion/ "format" AIFF, check in options that it is set to mono. Save the file and import into Audition. It works for me although I have Soundbooth not Audition.
    Good luck.

  • QAM channels got relocated in NJ area WHY?

This was driving me crazy all day.  I thought my kitchen TV had a mind of it's own.  It changed channels while I was watching it to some bizarre channel that was not in English.  A few seconds later it changed channels to a low res weather station.
I tried changing the channel back to 4-1 (NBC) and it selected some strange number with another station on it.  I tried all of my locals - CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX and they were all gone.  I power cycled the TV and no better.  I rescanned the entire band which took almost an hour and still no better.  I then factory reset the TV and redid the whole setup, still nothing.
I finally went through dozens of silly channels and found my locals!!  Here they are:
    CBS  71-25
    NBC  72-27
    FOX  73-28
    ABC  73-29
    My9  74-30
    WPIX 71-24

Since FiOS delivers their service meant to be used with an STB, it's not surprising to see the channels move around from time to time.   I've seen the frequency for a given channel change on the STB, but the mapping that the STB does keeps the channel at the same "number" on the display ... so while channel 502 (which carries one of my locals) is always the same CBS station on my STB, if I from time to time look at the frequency (on the diagnostic menu on the STB) being used to bring that channel into the STB, I've seen it change.   Granted, not often, but it has changed.
For a regular view, there is no impact since since the STB keeps the station on the same channel regardless of the incoming frequency.

  • Channel Guide Update - Questions & Concerns

In speaking with customer support this morning, it would appear that my only recourse for letting Verizon know that I don’t like the new Channel Guide is to make a post on the forums and this seems like the most applicable one.
To start, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the old channel guide and I can’t figure out what the new guide does better aside from possibly displaying 2 additional channels per page…at the cost of incorporating a GIANT active dvr UI (user interface), an awful color scheme and a PiP window in the channel guide that seems to have had its size reduced to about ¼ of the previous one.
Does anyone know if there’s a way to change the display back to the old style or at least something close to it? I only had 15 minutes to play around with it this morning before work, but the rest of the new display styles are even worse than the standard one and I was hoping there was another options section that I didn’t notice as far as the overall display goes.
For those of you who use the verizon DVR services, that display has also changed and I can only assume that it’s geared towards displaying commercials while we use the dvr functions b/c there’s no other reason for it to take up so much room on the screen at the moment.
The previous dvr display used to consist of a small horizontal bar across the bottom of the screen that displayed the basic channel info (channel #, name of the show, run time etc etc), showed you the speed at which it was rewinding or fast forwarding and the point in the show that you were currently watching. With the update, the DVR window is MASSIVE and it has to be taking up close to 1/3 of the screen when you hit the FF, RW or play button. However, even with the new giant dvr display, there’s nothing being utilized in the actual display and I have a feeling it’s going to be used for corporate commercials or simply advertising verizon on-demand programming.
The new channel guide is clearly slower than the old one too and as I said earlier, I just didn’t see anything that warranted the huge makeover and I have trouble understanding how this new version of the channel guide could’ve possibly been beta tested by anyone and wound up in this state.
I love the verizon internet speed and I’ve come to find that their customer service is excellent, but this change was possibly enough to make me drop the full package I currently utilize and simply maintain the internet going forward for the sake of accessing websites like hulu & netflix for my television needs.

Agreed.  The new guide format is slow, the text is difficult to read, but worst of all, you can only see a few channels at
a time when scrolling.  With hundreds of channels, you need to be able to glance at many channel listings quickly
on one screen, before quickly scrolling to the next screen.
I agree this is so bad that I will have to look at cable or satellite options if the old channel guide is not restored, at least
as an option.  It was great!   Why fix what isn't broken?  Or more to the point, why break something that was an asset
    to the service?
If FIOS tries to hold me to whatever the term of my contract period and penalizes me for dropping the service, my
position would be that the service provided by FIOS with the new channel guide is materially and adversely different from
what I signed up for, and this unilateral change on the part of Verizon voids my obligations under the deal.  But all
I really want is the option to return to the prior channel guide format.

  • I want to move a channel

I have returned from holiday to find that my BT Vision + box channels have all been altered by BT. My previous signals were from the Winter Hill transmitter, north west, but then altered to BBC Wales,(1) ITV Wales (3) and SC4 (Welsh language) (4) I have spent a lot of time doing rescans, particularly using the trick of letting the scan proceed, in part, with the aerial out, and more by luck than judgement, I have BBC NW (1) and ITV NW (3) back. So I now have the stations back to normal with the exception of Channel Four. I found it on number 896 and made it a Favourite, and it can be accessed by going to Favouites after pressing the BTVision button. SC4 occupies the position of Channel Four in my channel listings. I want to delete SC4 altogther and replace it with Channel Four, so I have channels 1,2,3,4,5,etc etc. Is this possible? I am apprehensive of doing yet another channel scan in case the others revert to the Wales transmitter. It looks to me as if SC4 can be 'hidden' but not removed. What is the point of that?

  • Why does Verizon shuffle arond local channels?

    I have a question.
Now, I currently have DirecTV but I've been thinking about getting Verizon FiOS when it is finally available in my area.  One thing though that I'm noticing about Verizon is they appear to be doing this same crazy practice that the local Cable Companies does... It drove me crazy all the time...  Basically, it is where they shift all the local channel numbers around so you have to keep stopping to think about where the channel has been moved to.
For example in the Boston, the local terrestrial channels are like this.
    2(WGBH), 4(WWBZ), 5(WCVB), 7(WHDH), 11(PBS New Hampshire), 25(WFXT), ... 44(WGBX), 56(WLVI) 62, 68,etc. Simple enough.  Now thankfully DirecTV keeps this same pattern...
However on Verizon for say the city of Belmont, MA (Zipcode "02476") the channel lineup is like this.. 38 comes in on 3. 25 comes in on 8. 56 jumps to 12...  etc.  No kind of normalcy basically....
Why did Verizon do this????I see they already have channels going over 1000 so why didn't they vacate 0-99 nationally so the local channels can fall into their correct slot and then start the cable stations like say above channel 99???
In having DirecTV, I've noticed the way that company gets around needing to shift all the local channels all over is they start all of their cable TV stations above channel 99.  This leaves 2-99 as open- so that the local channel can goto its correct allotment anywhere in the USA.  It just seems logical to leave the local channels in their true slot so I'm wondering what was soo appealing about this type of format where everything gets scattered all over.
Does anyone have some idea of what I'm missing and perhaps if there's some kind of method to this madness-- which I've never quite understood?
    ~J. P.

I'm glad I was able to reassure you, but I now think I went too far. Looking at your channel listings you provide, Verizon has some major problems to make it all line up. And looking in more detail at ours, it isn't as simple as I made it out to be.
Verizon, IMO to their credit, has tried to standardize channel assignments for most everything around the country. Easier for them I suspect. Anyway, they start their SD cable channels at 50 in most places, I think; that means that UHF channels 50 and above must be relocated somewhere, and they do that, down into the low range. Here in Texas, some of the higher broadcast channels, but not all, are relocated - 27 to 7, 33 to 9, 39 to 10, etc, while 21 is on 21, 29 is on 29, etc.Verizon puts the local PEG cable channels at 30-47, then TV Guide at 48, and local weather at 49, then the real cable channels 50 and above. So all of the local broadcast channels that they carry are reloacated if necessary to below 30 here.
The HD channels (the ones that do offer HD channels) do follow the scheme I mentioned, local + 500.
When I made my statement earlier, I was really thinking of the "major" channels (ABC, CBS, FOX, PBS, etc), because those are pretty much the only local channels I watch, I forgot about all of the various smaller channels (religeous, Spanish language, etc) that they do carry. Sorry, I really didn't mean to make a mistake, I should have actually looked at the lineup first.

  • [Cisco FAQ] - What is a Wideband Downstream Channel?

    explain its purpose.

Consists of one or more [RF] QAM channels.
Uniquely identified by MPEG PID field (2-bytes)
Information is conveyed to WCM by WDCD (Wideband Downstream Channel Descriptor)
WDCD is transmitted every 2 seconds

  • Channels

I have had fios on my TV since the end of January.  The leaflet left with me and the channel line up online are very outdated. We spent a lot of time tonight going through every channel starting at 2 until we found the TCN channel to watch the Flyers game and found a lot of channels  not listed online and also not in the leaflet .  Just wondering if maybe the channel listings need to be updated.

I am not sure what the effective date is for your lineup. We send out monthly newsletter called "Verizon Spotlight" that has updated lineups in the back of it. Certain channels like "The Comcast Network" is a regional channel, therefore it will not be in everyones lineup. This means these channels can't be in our widespread publications. You can check the channels for your area by pressing the guide button on your remote, or by visiting http://www22.verizon.com/home/fiostv/channels/ and punching in your area code.

  • Digi@nywhere - no QAM in WMC7

    Hello all,
I am running a Digi@nywhere AD and Digi@nywhere AD Plus in a brand new quad core amd phenom setup, with Win7 Pro.  Windows Media Center only sees these cards as analog (with digital atsc for over the air).  It does not see these for QAM.  I'm on Time Warner cable.  When I run the Total Media software that came with the cards the QAM channels work, but Windows only sees these as analog.  Any thoughts?  I have a Linksys Media Extender in another room that I'm hoping to use along with WMC, but I would really like to record in digital without having to buy another card.  I do have the cable lines plugged into both ports on the card.
    thanks,

    Analogue or Digital signals?
You might want to try a signal booster between the aerial and the PC to improve the signal quality. For some reason, PC TV tuners are more sensitive to digital TV signals than set-top boxes or those built into modern TVs. Maybe they have some sort of signal amplifier built-in, I'm not sure, but I used a Freeview box here in the UK that received digital TV fine, but I needed a booster when connecting to a PC TV tuner.
Good quality TV aerial cables can help too, the shorter the better.
