QE389AA ABC & HP Laptops

Hi, I have a HP ENVY 15t (Brand new, just got it one day ago)  with Windows 8.1 Pro Product # G0T95AV and a HP wireless TV Connect 2.0 QE389AA ABC.  I am not able to get the two item talking to each other.
The HP wireless TV connect works seamless with a 2 year old Dell laptop using Windows 7 Pro, but once I tried to link the HP laptop and the HP wireless TV connect, I get no connection at all.
I tried the manual way and changed the network setting base on a link from HP still nothing....
I tried using another HP laptop with Windows 8.1 Pro, no good.
I tried it on an Alienware running Windows 7 Pro and I was able to connect.
So, please help... the conclusion is it Windows 8.1 or is it the HP laptop
Any help is greatly apprecaited.

  • Multiple Problems with Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop??

    Hi,
We purchased the Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop at Best Buy about a week ago.  However, we seem to be having multiple problems with it, that I wouldn't have expected from a brand new Toshiba.
    Problems:
Whenever I'm in Mozilla Firefox browser, it crashes 90% of the time.  Firefox was always my favorite on our previous computer, and still is, I just can't use it because it continually crashes.
In Outlook, whenever I try to open a message or reply, or basically any general command, it pops up an error message that says, "Could not install the custom actions," and then does whatever I'd wanted it too.  It's a pain, as we do a lot of email and calendar through Outlook.
In Outlook, when I tried to import our Contacts, it says that we do not have the appropriate permissions to access the files.  We are the only user account on this computer.  We don't do seperate ones for each family member; we just turn on the PC.
It seems to me like the internet crawls on this computer.  Every time we try to play a video (e.g. ABC, CNN, Youtube), it won't buffer.  It just stops and starts all throughout the video about every 3 seconds.  HUGE nuisance.  We watch a lot of videos.
Minor issue:  In Firefox, before it has crashed that is, on my old computer I used to be able to type "cnet" without the quotes into the address bar, and it would take me to www.cnet.com.  If it couldn't find the page, it would take me to my default search engine's page (Yahoo) with the search results.  On this one, if I type anything into the address bar (like search terms/keywords) it bring up search results with a My Start Incredimail search engine.  I want my Yahoo search engine, and I want it to find the page if it can.
I cannot seem to get the Aero Flick (I think) to work.  That was one of the main things I was looking forward to, but I can't figure out how to do it.
It seems to me like the Windows Explorer freezes a lot.
There have been multiple times when I'm typing that the keys don't work.  Like I would have to press the A key about 10 times to get it to show up on the screen once.  It's hit and miss and doesn't do it all of the time.
This isn't a problem - just a question.  Is it best to leave the computer plugged in all of the time if it's stationary?  Or once it's fully charged, should I unplug it and let the power run down, and then re-charge it?
**CLARIFICATION:  It's not Outlook Express, it's Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.  The one that you have to pay for.  Surely it works with 7, considering it's Microsoft?!?!
If you can help me answer any of these problems/questions, I would really appreciate it.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas!

Yes, everything was fine with Firefox.  However, I have uninstalled it, and am just using Internet Explorer for now.
    Thanks for battery info...
I'm well within the return window, but overall really like the laptop.  I've put a lot of time into it, and just want it to work right if possible.
    Thanks for the info.
ScottinFla wrote:Concerning Firefox, have you checked your add-on list for any faulty plug-ins or extensions? Try disabling them and see what happens. Also, that search engine you mentioned may have somehow been installed on your machine. Have you checked the "Manage search engines..." window available from the search bar? Check your add-ons as well. You could always reinstall Firefox from scratch.
As for the battery, it may not be best to continually run down the battery - followed by a long charge. Once a month or so should be fine. Otherwise, just try to give the battery some exercise every now and then.
Are you still within the return window? Your unit may have a bad install, some bad RAM, or...
I have the same model and it works just fine.

  • Flash builder 4.7 AIR 17 compile-abc-64 fail on x32 OS

    Ls,
Since AIR 16 I cant compile to iOs on my x32 Os (windows vista ultimate)
On my laptop its fine, uses x64 windows 7.
Failure because of compile-bc-64.exe not working on x32 (makes sense sure)
So: Is there a way to not have it use the -64.exe but only the normal compile-abc.exe?
    Flash builder: 4.7
    AIR sdk: latest two 16. & 17
    OS: windows Vista ultimate x32
    Highest regards,
    Mac

I finally found what probelem i have. Visual studio has corrupted one dll. Flahs is crashing due to my browser in 64bits which has problem. I found that it could be a probleme while installing a .net framework. But unfortunately i can't delete or uninstall this framework, i had no option to uninstall it. I guess the best way is to format my computer. But as i am waiting for a new worksatation dedicated to your tool and zbrush of course(for stage3d is a real improvment), i won't format it now it would take too much time to resintall everything and i would have to do this again when i will received my workstation
If someone has problem like that there might be a solution(not the best but at least it works)
To solve my problem as i have to make an app in flash builder. I downloaded the 32 bits version of flash builder 4.7. And i will resintall the 64 bits as soon as i received my workstation.

  • Factory reset my satellite laptop

hey, i would like to factory reset my satellite x200/x205 series. it's an old computer with alot of stuff on it. i would just like to in a way start fresh with a "new" computer. i have backed up and transferred all my important files and documents already and my computer is ready for a reset. am i doing this right? if i factory reset my comp will it mess up any drivers or anything else on my comp? if so how can i fixit or update any possible drivers afte the reset? i have the toshiba recovery and applications/drivers that came with the computer for windows vista home premium 32 bit disk one and two. if i put those in and follow the prompts is this all i need for a factory reset? i also have the upgrade your windows vista experience disk that came with the computer also.

When I had so much trouble installing Windows 7 from the purchased cd, I had to do an "out of box recovery" for my laptop . Make a back up disc of everything you want to keep. I only did Windows Photo Gallery, there was nothing else of importance to backup. Then insert the Toshiba Recovery Disc that came with your computer at the time of purchase, and follow all the directions.  If you do not have the Recovery Disc, call  1-800-457-7777, they can send you one, for a very small charge (?? $20.00 or so ??) Make sure you have your Internet Security and Anti-virus disc ready to install. Personally, there were less problems with the install than the download. TIP TIP TIP I use my favorites box all the time, so I wrote down every site I had listed there...that way when the out of box recovery was complete, all I had to do was go to my list (abc order) and open each page or site, then hit add to favorites. That saved me so much time !!! I also write down the passwords for each site, just so I don't have to remember them, and when you're working and trying to think...well senior moment takes on a life of it's own !!!   Hope I helped

  • Flash in Firefox freezes laptop

About 30 seconds to 1 minute into flash videos my laptop will completely freeze up. Only thing that works is the power button.
Happens in Hulu, NHL.com, ABC.com, YouTube, etc.
    I'm running a P4 with XP Home SP3.
Current on all updates on XP, Firefox & Flash.
Removed Flash with downloaded Uninstaller.  Shut down A/V & Firewall. Reinstalled Flash.  Same problems. Can see Adobe flash installed page OK.

Hi Tony, if I may interrupt for a moment. Check your add ons(all add ons) for IE for Shockwave Flash Object, it should be Flash10e.ocx (version 10.0.45.2) and Enabled.
With Firefox, check plug-ins for SWF version 10.0.45.2 and make sure that is Enabled.
If that doesn't correct the problem, then post back and we'll check your Flash files to make sure they are correct. Also if there are any ActiveX Controls that the A/V may have in the add ons that could be conflicting with the browsers.
    Thanks,

  • How do you effectively use WSUS/Windows Updates in a mobile/laptop environment?

Hey everyone, I have a question about properly using WSUS and/or Windows Update to properly patch laptops. We provide our users with laptops and a large number of them work from home throughout the week. We want to make sure they're being properly updated,
but also make sure we can control what updates are installed on the machines. It's my understanding that it is against the EULA to make a WSUS server available to the outside world. To me, this leaves a weird gap within the Windows Update world where you either
get all updates from Microsoft's servers or you get updates only when you're onsite at your business.
I found a neat utility graciously created by the developer(s) of ABC-Deploy, called ABC-Update. This provides a utility to install, uninstall, update, or filter out any updates you wish. You can even have it run against your WSUS server. You could create a
script that runs as a scheduled task to run against WSUS when you're onsite (assuming you have a static public IP) or against Microsoft Update (and filtering out the updates using the /K option). Not perfect, but it seems to do an OK job. My worry is the list
of updates you'd have to filter out using the /K option could become rather large.
I was wondering what everyone else does to properly patch their mobile/laptop environments?
If there's no good solution, I'd love to get in contact with someone at Microsoft to work on this.

Do check with MS on that EULA thing. It sounds strange that it is against EULA assuming you require client authentication when accessing published WSUS server. I have also seen several blog posts from MS describing publishing procedure (for example
this one from WSUS support blog)
Otherwise, I'm affraid, there is no "lightweight" way to do this without using third party soft or doing some programming of your own. One option is using System Center Configuration Manager to manage windows updates. It does support management
of clients over internet, but requires deployment of a number of new servers and services in your network. Another option is deploying direct access in your environment to provide client computers with seemless connection to corporate network. In this case
you can use WSUS to manage updates and collect statistic, while clients can be configured to downloads update content from the internet.

  • Trying to stream audio from ABC Grandstand

I have been trying to connect to the ABC grandstand call of NRL games for months via the internet. When I get to the NRL Live scoreboard page and click on the audio button and then on the ABC, I get a box (Safari shows a QuickTime box; Firefox an empty box) that says -3285: Disconnected. Every time I get an update of some application I try again, but no joy. While my iBook was still under AppleCare, I tried telephone support as well. They had me download updates for Flip4Mac and when that didn't work, I didn't have the time to call back.
I have an iBook G4 with OS 10.5.7, Safari 3.2.3, Firefox 3.0.10, Window Media Player 9.0, Real Player 10.1.0, QuickTime 7.6, Flip4Mac WMV Player 2.2.2.3 and recently, after reading another discussion, I downloaded Perian and Adobe Flash Player..
I also have an iMacG5 PC with the same software and the same problem.
Any other suggestions? I live in a very remote area, broadband is here but radio is often lacking good reception, and despite recent news, I love Rugby League.

    Hi grawingirl
I'm listening to the stream right now on my Windows XP laptop. The site expects the Windows Media Player to play its content. WMP is launched via an ActiveX control in another Internet Explorer Window.
    I tried accessing the stream
    http://nrl.com/liveaudio.htm?mediaurl=rtsp://wm9.streaming.telstra.com/ucs-whnrl0live1
directly with VLC, to no avail.
I give up on this. Looks to me like you need Internet Explorer to listen to this radio stream. Internet Explorer is only available on Windows operating systems. Don't even bother trying the old mac version - there is no ActiveX for Mac OS X.
Actually I think it's quite stupid to limit access to streams this way, maybe someone else is able to troubleshoot this.
    Sorry

  • Stream live tv to laptop

I'm so done reading endless and useless information on here for something that is extremely simple with other providers....HOW THE HELL DO YOU STREAM LIVE TV TO A LAPTOP???  I dont want to go through a ton of banners again only to find tv episodes that I can choose from, I want to watch what is currently playing on the network station. Any clues???

    Hey rjperry2012 -
True, the live streams available in the FiOS Mobile app are not available for streaming to desktop computers.
However, you can watch all of these channels live at My Verizon, provided that you sign in with your UserID and password, and you are in a FiOS TV package that includes the channel you are trying to watch.
Some of these channels have East/West live streams you can pick from.
Also, these programmers generally have their own websites and apps where you can sign in and watch the live streams as well. And some (like Showtime) don't stream live at My Verizon but do stream live at their own site / app.

  • Cannot Access Subscribed Channels from Smartphone or Laptop!

We contacted Tech Support on 8-3-15 about this, she put in a request for Tier 2 to take a look, but we haven’t heard from anyone and the issue is not yet resolved.  Even tried to chat on 8-4-15, but the agent couldn’t see what was being typed.  Up until the evening of 8-3-15, we were able to stream our paid content on our smartphones and laptop via the TV Go App.  Then, an error message occurred for most Cable channels (ABC, CBS, PBS, NBC, and Fox programming worked fine).  We get the “key” symbol and are told the network isn’t included in our subscription.  I even tried the independent app, Watch Espn, and this message comes up: “this network is not included in your current television subscription”.  We have the HD Digital Preferred with Starz and also added HBO.  The phone Tech on 8-3 said our Subscription is active, so there’s an issue with accessing the Apps.  I have seen on the Comcast Forum that other users have also reported this issue.  Please help!  Thank you so much!

Update: Issues have now been resolved; Apps working properly again.

  • Can I return my laptop

I bought my laptop around the beginning of March 2011. I am very dissatisfied with it and was wondering if I could bring it in for a refund. The computer is a Dell Inspiron.

I'm sorry, but you only have 14 days to return a laptop. You could send it in for repair if there is an issue with the device.

  • WRT120N no longer recognized by laptops

I'm not quite sure where the problem lies, so I'm going to go over everything that happened so I can hopefully get an answer. Any help is MUCH appreciated.
We were running a few laptops (Acer Aspire 5517 on Vista) off our WRT120N router wirelessly. We have it hooked up to a wireless modem. All signs show that the modem and router are running fine. The wireless network we were using, I'll call it Network-1, stopped showing up as an option in the wireless connect menu. Prior to this all the laptops could connect to Network-1 by wire or wirelessly without a problem. I don't know what happened to start the problem, but Network-1 is no longer a wireless network option.
When I wire a laptop to the router, it connects to the internet and says it's currently connected to Network-1. But when I try to connect the wireless network via a wired connection, the new network I set doesn't show up in the connection menu. When I try to set up the router again (while the computer is wired), I get the error message "Windows did not detect any wireless network hardware". So it seems that although I am able to get an internet connection through the router, the computer is not recognizing it.
One of the laptops is able to connect wirelessly through a different network (Network-2). It looks like Network-2 was set up automatically by the laptop. Another laptop has Network-2 as an option, but it says the network security key is wrong. I have no idea what the password might be, the computer where Network-2 works connects automatically, I haven't had to type a password. I'm not sure what happened here, if it's two different connections with the same name, or if it's the same thing. I don't even know if this is relevant.
Again, we would be SO grateful for any help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well i think due to some reason the wireless settings of your Router must have got resetted, that's the reason you are unable to see your wireless network name. So you need to Hardwired you computer to the Router and login to the router setup page and change the wireless settings of your Router.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbors network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...
