QLogic vs. Emulex Switches -- I need documentation
Howdy, We bought the Emulex 355 off the Apple site, and I'm convinced it's junk. Most everybody says go with the QLogic. Now I'm trying to convince my IT guys to return the Vixel and purchase the QLogic. They want documentation that says the QLogic is better. Anybody out there got any suggestions? (I understand the QLogic has more ports, but we aren't out of ports yet on the Emulex)
Thanks for any advice or info.
Daniel,
The Emulex 355 isn't "junk" if you stay with one switch. It just doesn't scale well -- it uses arbitrated loop technology (though it is, in fact, switched internally), so if you connect multiple switches you will have "hops" in the fabric, and things will slow down.
If you will eventually go to 16 or 32 or more ports, then you absolutely would be better served with the Qlogic switch. If all you're doing is connecting a couple RAIDs to a couple hosts, it's probably no big deal.

How do I access compacted mail on a Mac version 10.5.8 stuck with Thunderbird version 16.0.2 ? I am unable to access needed documentation for Taxes, etc
Where in the world did you read Deleting All My Mail? I have reread my answer several times and cannot seem to find that in there.
When you mark a message for deletion it does just that. It marks it for deletion and hides the message. It is not truly deleted until you compact.
My point is that unless you deleted your important mail they should still be there somewhere.
Your question was about compacting and thinking it put your messages in a nice little box for safe keeping and now you want to open it.
I have to agree that Thunderbird did a horrible job of naming this process because most are like you and do not understand what it actually does. I included the link to the explanation of what compacting means in the Thunderbird world.
Your messages may still be available to your but finding them has nothing to do with compacting.
Thunderbird does not archive anything unless you use that process by selecting the message and pressing a. You have the option to setup where you want that archive to go and what folders to make.
The All Mail folder is a goofy gmail arrangement. If you have problems with that then you need to address that with Google.
If you go into your gmail account on the gmail site do you see the messages you are hunting in the All Mail folder there? -

Log file switch (archiving needed)
Hi,
My database is on windows 2003, 10.2.0.4, recently I have been getting the following wait events on a regular basis, LOG FILE SWITCH (ARCHIVING NEEDED)...My redo files are 50MB with 5 groups...I have changed the log_archive_max_process from 2 to 3, but still the problem persists...can anyone help me regarding the same?As to what other changes can be done?and this happens only during the time of BOD and EOD.
Thanks,
AJHi Jonathan,
Thanks for the reply, I am not worried abt the archiving thing for the time being,as my database was working absolutely fine before the new query that was added in the Begin of Day process. So I am trying to tweak the query.
Folllowing is the procedure which gets called during the Begin of Day:

where ' || V_UPPER_START_TAG || CR_UPDATE_TMP.WHERE_CONDITION || V_UPPER_END_TAG || '=' || V_UPPER_START_TAG || CR_UPDATE_TMP.DESTINATION_COLUMN_NAME || V_UPPER_END_TAG ||
' AND ' || cr_update_tmp.lov_condition || ' = ' || cr_update_tmp.lov_syscode || ')';
v_upper_start_tag := 'UPPER('; v_upper_end_tag := ')';
execute immediate (v_update_script);
end loop;
end;
end;
Following is the flow of the query:
1. A temporary table is created where in the updates can be made.
2. Rows are inserted into ths table from the source table
3. Updates are performed on this table
4. Updates are then copied to the source table
5. This procedure is alled twice, so before getting called for the second time, table is truncated.

What series of Cisco Switch I Need?
Hello colleagues,
I want to know which Industrial Series Switch I need to choose and meets the following minimum specifications.
-at least 4 SFP ports 1Gigabit
-at least 4 PoE port 100MB
-IP20 or IP30
I can use extra modules for to achieve the minimum technical specifications.
I appreciate your time and hope you can help me.The IE 3010 only has two SFP ports. To get 4 SFP ports and the PoE copper ports you're asking about you would need the IE3000-4TC with one expansion module for PoE ports (IEM3000-4PC) and another for the additional fiber (IEM-3000-8FM). you would also need to add the separate power module for the PoE.
Reference the product data sheet. they ar rated for IP20 or 21 per the hardware installation guide technical specifications. -

Need documentation for writing GPIB drivers for RTOS-32 using Borland C 5.51
Greetings,
I need to develop GPIB drivers (using the NI GPIB card) for the RTOS-32 operating system (by On-Time). I am using Borland C 5.51 as the compiler. I am looking for info/examples on writing/porting low level drivers for the GPIB. The examples I have found come with the low levels drivers in an object file which you link in, but nothing on how to write the low level drivers.
Any pointers on what documentation/examples that I should look at would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time,
Fred A. Ennerson
Electro-Optical/SonatechFred,
National Instruments offers a DDK for customers to develop NI-488 drivers for operating systems that we do not support directly. Refer to the following product data sheet on using the NI-488DDK. http://www.ni.com/pdf/products/us/4gpib664.pdf

Momentary punch in/out foot switch help needed
Hi all,
I'm looking to find a usb keyboard or device that i can use with LOGIC 9 to plug in a momentary punch in/out foot switch.
I have an M-Audio Oxygen 61 - but I can't tell if it has the input or not?
Thanks in advanceI might approach it like this..... Open your template song. In the environment, create a new transformer and check the box next to the icon in the inspector so that it shows up as a possible arrange track. Double click the transformer to open it and program it to transform sus pedal (cc#64 I think...) to some other unused controller. Select the transformer track in the arrange page, open your key commands and set the transformed cc data to the record toggle (delete the original sus pedal setting from the controller list). Save the template song with this transformer and arrangement with the transformer track in it. Now when you build a new song from the template, you can select the transformer track when you want to use the pedal for record toggle, and select the appropriate instrument's track when you want the sus pedal.
There are probably other (better?) ways of doing this.. one of the best things about logic..... Perhaps some one else will offer up a simpler way. It might just be easier to open KC window and delete the sus/rec. toggle setting when you don't need it and just reprogram it when you do..... -
Replacing hubs with switches help needed
I'm new at this so bear with me.
I have two LANs, 10.0.0.x and 10.1.0.x, connected via firewall/router with 10.0.0.245 and 10.1.0.5 address. Clients and servers are connected to hubs on both networks. I want to replace the hubs with 2960TT switches already purchased but not configured.
The 10.1.0.x Windows clients have a default gateway of 10.1.0.5 which is the firewall routing to the 10.0.0.x network which then has a default gateway of 10.0.0.253 to Internet.
I suppose I would like to get rid of the firewall but must I replace it with another routing device or can the switches themselves be configured to allow these two networks to co-exist? I need the 10.1.0.x clients to see the 10.0.0.x network and resources but not vice-versa.
I need help configuring the switches. Thanks!You could likely use your new switches as "drop in" replacements for your hubs with minimal or possibly even no configuration. However, to maintain distinct subnets, you're going to continue to need some type of L3 device, such as your existing firewall/router.
One issue you might have with your existing firewall/router is it might be performance challenged for traffic moving traffic between your two subnets. (Likely your Internet side is limited by your Internet bandwidth.) If there is a performance issue between your subnets, you might look at obtaining a faster L3 device to either replace your existing firewall/router or in addition to it. (The "in addition to" L3 device, could be an "inexpensive" L3 switch, perhaps the 3560-8PC, to handle LAN traffic, while your existing firewall/router continues to handle Internet traffic. Optimal physical configuration of something like the 3560-8PC with your new switches might be linking your two new switches on a VLAN trunk gig port and one switch to the 3560-8PC also on a VLAN trunk gig port. The existing firewall/router might then connect to the 3560-8PC on one of its 100 Mbps ports.) -
