QM: Sample Size is 32767 if freely defined inspection point is used

Hi,
I am using Inspection plan with freely defined inspection point (100).
Inspection type: 04
I want to do 100% inspection. Material master setting is done for early lot creation.
If I use freely defined inspection point in the plan and create an order of any quantity > 32767, I get a sample size of 32767. If create a order of 100000 qty still sample size is 32767 and I can't even change it during result recording. If I don't use freely defined inspection point I get a sample size which is equal to the order quantity.
My Requirement:
I want to use freely defined inspection point in the plan... and also I want to get a sample size equal to production quantity (not 32767 always when production quantity exceeds the this quantity).
Please let me know how to control this fix sample size 32767 when my plan is with freely defined inspection point.
Regards,
Abir.

Hi,
Sample size under 'Inspect' column in result recording screen is always 32767, if order quantity >32767.
I use EARLY lot creation (through material master setting), because I want one lot for one production order... do partial confirmation. Lot is created with production order release, before actual GR takes place.
Say I have an order with qty 100,000 and if I open the lot after REL of order I see,
inspection lot quantity: 100,000
Actual Lot Qty:             0
Sample Size:                100,000
Even if I do confirmation and GR for say 100,000 qty and open the Lot I can see,
inspection lot quantity: 100,000
Actual Lot Qty:             100,000
Sample Size:                100,000
When I go to result recoding screen, against every MIC there is column 'Inspect' (there I get 32767), there is another entry field 'Inspected' (here system don't allow to enter more that 32767)
Sampling procedure I have used:
Sample Type:     200    100% Inspection
Valuation Mode: 500    Manual Valuation
Free Inspection Point
May be I made mistake in pointing out the issue; the problem is with 'Inspect' quantity in result recording  - which always appearing 32767. For smaller quantity order its equal to order quantity.  How change the 'Inspect' quantity.
Also not if I remove Inspection Point from the plan I get "Inspect' quantity equal to Production order quantity.
Best regards,
Abir.

  • Sample Size is Zero

    Hi all,
I have created a Material (ROH) with BUOM as EA. I have created a Sampling Procedure with % Inspection and Manual Valuation.
Also I have created a MIC and assigned a Quality Plan for the same raw material.
My problem is, when I do manually create an Inspection Lot, Sample size is coming as Zero. Task List specification is properly assigned to the Inspection Lot from QP01.
As it automatically takes the Task List, Sample size is displyed as 0 and Grayed out automatically.
My client requirement is to display Sample size in each Inspection report (as per their standards). In Valuation screen (QE11/QA32), inspect qty is displayed properly as per Sampling Procedure.
    Experts, please guide me.
    Best Regards
    Sam

    Hi Hemant and Ashok,
Thnx a lot for your replies. I have set the Characteristics as Optional in QS21.
Once I have changed that to Required Characteristics in QS23, Sample size started appearing in Inspection Lot also.
But then in the Inspection Report, its appearing as Zero. How can I trace the Sample size for the optional Characteristics in Inspection Report.
    Please guide

  • How come inspection points with DESTRUCTIVE MICs don't affect sample size?

    Hi guys,
i have a case i tried on IDES and i need an explanation for it if you can.
@ the beginning we have an in-process inspection with inspection points and non-destructive MICs, the interval of 10 mins (of the inspection point) generated 3 inspections, and my sampling procedure led to a sample size of 1 PC, in the inspection lot display the sample size is "1", which is normal and i understand this.
    here comes the problem
we will change one of the MICs and make it destructive. Now we have our 3 inspections. The normal logic says that I'm having 3 inspections and there is on of the MICs DESTRUCTIVE, therefore I'm must get 3 samples, one for each inspection, which means that when we check the sample size in the inspection lot we must get a size of 3, but when i tried this i got a size of 1 again....and this is not logical because my sample will be destructed in the first inspection so how can I carry on the remaining 2 inspections ???
so i need to know how come I'm getting a size of 1 and is that right or wrong ???
i hope i made it clear and wish you can help
    Regards,
    Mahmoud Osama

    Hi Amol,
i'm sorry i don't understand what do you mean by operation confirmation quality  ???
and about stock posting, i know as you said that it is not possible with in-process inspection, as the lot is not stock relevant, but whether it is stock relevant or not has nothing to do with the sample size calculation, my problem is that the logic says that i must get 3 samples because with each inspection i'll destruct my sample, but SAP calculations give only one sample !!!!
i hope you can help with that, thanks for you concern.

  • Sample size '0' in inspection lot

    Hi,
While we are trying to determine the sample size of the inspection lot, we use dynamic modification rules. We have been created a sampling procedure with use of sampling scheme and we assign the sampling procedure to a dynamic modification rule. Also in the characteristic level of a quality plan we have defined the sampling procedure. However, the system does not calculate the sample size in the inspection lot. We see the sample size in the characteristic level, but in the inspection lot (QA03) the system does not calculate the sample size. We see '0' as a result.
    Thanks&Regards,
    Begü

    Hi
As per my understanding you have used sampling Procedure & Dynamic modification rule at char Level.
Here You might have applied the DMrule at the Header of Task list.
Now when you apply DMR at char level at header then it will skip all char in the task list.
your lot is skipped .so sample size becoems zero & char statuses will be 4:skipped.
    This is how sap is.

  • How do I find, at-a-glance, the sample size used in several music files?

How do I find, at-a-glance, the sample size used in several music files?
Of all the fields available in a FInder Search, "Sample Size" is not available. Finder does offer a "Bits per Sample" field, but it only recognized graphic files and not music files.
Running 10.8.5 on an iMac i5.
I did search through a couple of communities but came up empty.
    Thank you,
    Craig

    C-squared,
There is no View Option to allow display of a column of sample size.
For WAV or Apple Lossless files, it is available on the Summary tab (one song at a time, as you know).  For MP3 and AAC it is not available at all.
You can roughly infer it from the files that are larger than expected for their time.
99% of the music we use is at the CD standard of 16-bit, so I can guess that displaying it has never been a priority.  However, if you want to make a suggestion to Apple, use this link:

  • Can you adjust the Sample Size in LR?

In Photoshop, you can set the size of the eyedropper to sample a single pixel, 3x3 average of 9 pixels, 5x5, 11x11, etc. It can make a big difference when sampling a single pixel as opposed to the average of a larger area.
Can the sample size be set in LightRoom?
If not, what is the sample size in LR when you run your cursor over the image? Does this vary depending on the displayed magnification of the image?
    Thanks,
    Lou Dina

White Balance and the Color Sampler are not the same unless things have changed. White Balance is always 5x5 image pixels while the Color Sampler is 5x5 screen pixels. Therefore, one can increase the
accuracy of the color sampler by zooming in beyond 1:1. In the case of White Balance, I don’t think that’s true, again, unless that's been recently changed. Yes, kind of confusing. Bottom line though, zoom in to do precise work.

  • Sample Size Calculation based on the results

    Dear all
I have a scenario as below
for a product the upper and lower specification is given as below
    Upper spec 19.00mm
    Standard  18.00mm
    Lower spec 17.00mm
my client is having ranges as below
    Range 1
    Upper spec 19.0 to 18.75
    Lower spec 17.0 to 17.25
    Range 2
    Upper spec 18.75 to 18.50
    Lower spec 17.25 to 17.50
    Range 3
    Upper spec 18.50 to 18.25
    Lower spec 17.50 to 17.75
    Range 4
    Upper spec 18.25 to 18.00
    Lower spec 17.75 to 18.00
    a) Initially the sample size is 50%. Starts with range 4 .
    b) if consecutive 5 receipts are ok we want to switch to range 3 - sample size 25%.
    c) if consecutive 5 receipts are ok we want to switch to range 2 sample size 10%
    e) and range 1 sample size 5%.
    f) if there is any rejection at any range, then reset to range 4.
    g) if out of specification noticed then the next incoming material will be inspection in the next lowest range. ie in range 1 out of specification noticed shift to range 2 in the next Goods receipt.
I know that Sampling scheme can be used but how to link the specifications in it.
How to link this in SAP QM.
awaiting for your valuable feed back Please.

    Hi Sri,
As per your requirement you have to create 4 MIC as well as 4 DMR follow the below step.
    1. Create MIC1,MIC2,MIC3,MIC4
    2. Create DMR1,DMR2,DMR3,DMR4
    3. Assign the DMR at MIC level.
             a) Go to QP01 In Header data screen choose Dynamic mod. level DMR at character level. (Don't assign any DMR here)
             b) In Characteristics screen assign DMR to MIC
    (Range1) MIC1 - DMR1
    (Range2) MIC2 - DMR2
    (Range3) MIC3 - DMR3
    (Range4) MIC4 - DMR4
    Save the Inspection plan.

  • How do you find the frequency of a small sample size and a square wave.

I am collecting data from ten 12v pulses that are seperated pretty uniformly. The pulses make a square wave. I need to know how to input this small sample size and find it frequency. I need this frequency to be output in a readable file. Im not very knowledgeable in labview so if you try and help me please be very descriptive.
I know i need some sort of trigger because of uknown wait times before the sensor will be triggored but other than that im pretty lost. Any help would be appreciated.

What have you tried so far?  What parts are giving you trouble?  Please be as specific as possible. Post the code you have written.
You ask about frequency measurement and then you are talking about triggering.
If you always have 10 pulses, just measure the time from the beginning of the first pulse to the beginning of the last pulse.  The frequency is 10/time.
Break down the problem to smaller parts.  Acquire the data.  Measure the frequency. Save the result to a file.  Get each part working separately, then put them together.

  • Default Sample Size in ODM

The default sample size for Summary Statistic (Show Summary Single Record) is 1000 cases. We understand that we can change the default sample size at Tools --> Preferecnes --> Sampling. However, we would like to know what is the limitation on sample size/maximum cases a user can key in?
Hope someone can provide me the answer. Thank you.

I believe that you can enter as many rows as the number of rows in the data. The larger the sample size the more expensive it is to compute the stats as it needs to do more work.

  • Does default sample size affect modeling?

when i tried to apply data contained in a table to a model, I noticed that the data table was sampled and sampled data was applied to model instead of applying all data to a model. THis is decided by Default Sample Size specified in Preferences. I wonder when we build a model, does oracle also sample part of original data and only use sampled data to build the model?
    thanks

    Hi,
Are you referring to using Data Miner 10.1?
If so, the Preferences, sample setting is used only for statistics gathering.
There are two ways to build or apply a model in Data Miner 10.1.
    1. Using build or apply wizard.
    2. Using build or apply activity.
The build activity does have a sample step but it is up to you whether to run it or not.
Neither the apply activity or apply wizard perform sampling.
Can you explain what makes you think that the apply process is sampling data?
    Thanks, Mark

    Hi all,

andrew KainIts good to mention the db version that you are referring to. With 10g, the sample size has been automated and oracle picks up the value on the fly by itself. Mention the version please before e comment.

  • Inspection lot sample size is always = 1

All, I have an scenario I've seen in here but with no correct answer.
    Here is the case:
    (1) material has Buom = LK (link), production uom = M, unit of issue = M
    (2) the Unit of Measure table in the additional Data area is :
    1 LK LINK <=> 1 LK LINK
    3,048 M m <=> 80,000 LK LINK
    1 BOX Box <=> 80 LK LINK
    (3) There is no sample procedure for this mfg item in the routing, so the production order qty should be the inspection lot sample size
    (4) In the QM view of the material master, Buom is LK, Unit of issue = M, and the manual sample entries are not set
    (5) For every production order released, the inspection lots for this material have a sample size of 1 M.  It doesn't matter how big or small the production order qty is, sample size is always 1 M.
All other materials with uom the same in all areas, have the correct sample size equal to the production order qty.
I'm assuming this has to do with uom conversion but I can't find where the problem is.
    (6)  in Cuni, LK is in the AAAADL (no dimensions) option with Numerator and denominator = 1;  M is in the Length option with the same numerator and denominator = 1
Please any help on this will be great.
    Thanks and Regards...

Anyways, Please refer SAP Note 213505  - Sample size 1 for 100% inspection
I think, this note explains reason and solution for your query.

  • What is meant by "Video Sample Size = 24 bit"?

In the video properties for a XVID file you can see "Video Sample Size 24 bit" included with bitrate, frame size, but "file size in MB or GB" omitted.
What is this Video Sample Size? Is it the same as "bit depth, also known as color depth" that relates to the number of bits used to represent the color of a single pixel in an image?
I know how to calculate/estimate the file size of a single image from bit depth information such as 12 bit, 24 bit and frame size, but can you calculate the file size of a video from it frame size, bit depth? Question is based on Video Sample Size really being equal to bit depth.

Yesterday seems to have been a bad day for the Adobe fora. I had three very similar instances of what Tony experienced. I'd be reading/posting in the Premiere CS3 forum, and when I'd hit Post, after the screen came back, I'd be in the CS2 forum, and that's where my post would appear. Similar behavior in several other Adobe fora too.
Some of the screen displays got very wonky, and I had one of those today. When I went to open an article in one of the fora, there was one reply. I posted to that, and when the screen came back, about 8 replies displayed! All were from days before, but had not shown up, until I posted.
I might have helped Tony out in the forum that he intended to post to. Maybe Jeff, or someone can clean up a bit. I think there will be a lot of this, and I'm not sure it's working smoothly yet.

  • Sample Size Calculation in Quality Management

    Dear QM Experts,
We are facing an issue in sample size calculation when the Inspection Lot Quantity is less than 1 Kg Lets Say for Ex: 0.5 Kg. We are using MICs inside the Plan with suitable Sampling Procedure. The Sampling Procedure has the Following Settings
Sampling Type = Fixed Sample, Valuation Mode = Attributive inspection for Non-Confirming Units, No of Samples = 2
So Whenever the Inspection Lot Quantity is 1 Kg or More than that then Each of the MICs inside the results recording screen has the "Inspect" Column correctly set to 2. However when the inspection Lot Quantity is set to 0.5 Kg, the "Inspect" Column for that MIC is set to "1".
Kindly Provide your suggestions how to handle this ?. Kindly advise if we can avoid this by changes to Inspection Plan or Sampling Procedure. We would like to have the "Sample Size" or the "No of Inspections" to be carried out on a MIC to be Fixed irrespective of the Inspection Lot Quantity.
    Regards
    Ram

    Hi All,
Issue Resolved by Adjusting the Base Unit of Measure against the MICs. SAP Calculates Sample Size by multplying the Sample Size in the Sampling Procedure ( = 2) and the Base Unit of Measure against that MIC (0.5 KG). So SAP Calculates this for each and Every MIC inside that operation and takes the highest number out of that. Therefore the minimum sample Size requirement in the above case was = 0.5 X 2 = 1 KG
If the Inspection Lot is created with a quantity lesser than this then the Inspect Column Showed "1" although the sampling procedure had a sample size of "2". This is because SAP finds that the Inspection Lot quantity and therefore the sample size in the lot is not enough to meet the minimum sample size requirements for that operation. To resolve this issue we modified the Base quantity as 0.1 KG and it resolved our issue
