  • I have Firefox as my browser. A few days ago, I opened the browser with the Firefox icon and found that my browser is now "Bing". I cannot get rid of it. How do I get Firefox back?

    I have had Firefox as my default browser. About one week ago, I tried to go on line and found that my browser was now "Bing". I tried to get Firefox back but could not. I would like to change back to Firefox but do not know how.

    Go to control panel first, and uninstall browser protect, browser saver, saveshare or similar programs. Scan with anti-malware tools (like adwcleaner). Then go to your mozilla add-ons and uninstall everything coupon related (you might have to google each of your addons one by one).
    After than go to about:config and [http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-qone8-virus replace everything that mentions qoone8].

  • Whenever I try to open FF ver 29.0, serach engine 'qon38' starts! why?

    Whenever I open FF ver 29.0 browser, an unwanted search engine 'qone8' automatically starts, though I have preferred 'google.co.in' as my default search engine by making changes in the following 2 ways:
    1. Tools ---> Option ---> when firefox starts 'show my home page'
    2. Home page ---> 'google.co.in'
    But neither the option 'when firefox starts' nor the opted home page is activated.
    Nowhere in my laptop 'qone8' has been found. [CCleaner has been used]
    Please someone help me to get rid of 'qone8'.

    Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
    You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/default.aspx Microsoft Safety Scanner]
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware]

    * [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
    [http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

  • Strange

    a user had one of those stange search engines on her PC called qone8 which was unisntalled on PC and on internet explorer. now the problems is when we try and access websites it freezing and we have noted that when you goto internet explore it says it
    on ie9 but under programs it coming up as ie11.  do you know how we can fix this or do wee need a reinstall of the machine?

    Try running IE without Add-ons, or deconfiguring Add-ons by clicking the Gear icon then choosing Manage Add-ons.
    It's surprising how much not-needed-ware people accumulate as IE Add-ons.  NONE are needed, strictly speaking, though occasionally there are those that are useful.  My strategy when helping people with system problems is disable all those
    they don't KNOW they need - which may be all of them.  A perceived loss of functionality can be countered with re-enablement of specific Add-ons.

  • Scrubbing Reloading the System from Scratch

    Hello,  I am dealing with an HP laptop, model # dm4-3055dx, running Windows 7.  The system recently contracted a virus or some sort of very annoying malware referred to as Qone8.  I have tried numerous suggested solutions and several antivirus programs but I have not been able to get rid of it.  I am now at the point of having no other choice but to scrub the system (reformat the hard drive) and reloading every thing from source disks.  What I would like to know is will the recovery disks that I can get from HP (I unfortunately did not make these recovery disks myself when the system was new) be all that I need to accomplish this task?  Do the disks contain the original OS software and all the drivers, etc. that will get my system back to it's out of the box operationg condition?  If this is so, I assume that I will then have to download system updates from Microsoft and/or HP to get up to date.  I  plan on ordering the recovery disks for my system I just want to make sure there is nothing else I will need.  Also, I would appreciate a reference to the written procedure for carrying out the scrub and reload process if anyone knows.  Thanks much,  Al

    Thanks much for your response Mista B.  Actually I was unaware that there was a built-in recovery process available.  I may try that.  When I read the referenced procedure it said that if this procedure didn't work for some reason that I would have to use the recovery disks so I should probably have these on hand just in case.  The thing that I am afraid of is that if I don't do a complete erasure of the hard drive that the virus might not be eradicated completely and it will show up again on my bootup re-loaded system.  Do you think that the internal recovery procedure will successfully wipe out the infection?  Not to belabor the issue but you did not actually answer my question directly.  What I wanted to know is if the HP recovery disks will be all that I need to reload a completely wiped computer system.  Pehaps you implied that by suggesting the recovery from boot up but that is still not completely clear to me.  I do appreciate you help.  Thanks again, Al
