QoS config for Skype Freetalk Connectme

Hi Guys,
I recently purchased Freetalk Connectme adapter and hooked up to my router (Dlink DIR-655). But the call quality is really bad. Call is not disconnected but quality is very bad. Can somebody tell me if QoS will improve the call quality? and share the QoS configuration.

I think you are reading into this thread as I see what you're asking majorly differs from the original topic.
I believe providing guides on how to configure every IDS/Firewall (vs. just inbound/outbound ports) on the planet regardless of popularity is beyond the scope of the service provider but not of the equipment provider . With the information provided in FAQs, in the forums, and the Internet anyone who knows their equipment can configure it up to the limits and capabilities of their Firewall/IDS. Many times the providers of such network hardware will create SOPs of how to configure their equipment accordingly. You may want to consider reading/searching through OEM FAQs on the topic as they should assist you in greater detail for your specific application. Due to Skype being originally designed to circumvent traditional systems, large IDS/Firewall providers have had to create special software/firmware/algorithms even beyond basic rules to better detect encrypted traffic such as Skype. For that reason you should find a wealth of information from their site(s) on how to restrict Skype in conjunction with their hardware/software.

QoS config for Video Traffic

Hello all,
I have a campus network with several remote sites, at the campus I have a 6509 at the core and 3560 and 3750 switches at the access layer. I do have QoS enable on the 6509 and I am using auto QoS on the 3560 and 3750 switches and all seems to be working fine with my existing VOIP environment. But now as I am in the middle of rolling out a video conferencing solution with the existing QoS config I am experiencing a noticeable delay between audio and video. Example like during a video call I can tell that the voice and the lips of the person speaking are not in synch.
Has anyone run into this issue ? can someone provide me a sample QoS config for the 6509 and 3560/3750 switches ?
P.S. I am using a Tandberg/Codian solution for video conferencing with Tandberg/Codian MCU, IP Gateway, ISDN Gateway and Tandberg endpoints. And both the endpoints and the back-end infrastructure devices and are set for IP Precedence 5.

The main concern with configuring your back-end infrastructure devices with IP Precedence value 5 is that the 3560/3750 auto-qos will map this value to Q1 which is ordinarily the strict priority Q.
In most cases auto-qos will also configure or map Video to Q3, you can see this as a majority SRR bandwidth is assigned to the Q.
In order to use the strict priority queue, it has to be enabled on the interface 'priority-queue out', without it Q1 will not be emptied before the others. It will be serviced according to the weight.
With auto-qos Q1 will not have enough bandwidth as it will be assigned to Q3. Therefore you could initially enable priority-queue if not already enabled so that Q1 is emptied first, or you increase the weight.
The next question is whether you are using egress scheduling within the Core? and this conforms to your edge classification for Video?

Why is Bonjour Missing for my SKYPE Freetalk Install?

I am attempting to install SKYPE Freetalk on my Mac OS10.7.4. I am supposed to go to Safari, find the Bonjour Bookmark, and open it. There is no Bonjour Book there. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Meanwhile, I will keep looking on Safari for some help. this apppears to be a WINDOWS app and Internet Explorer Only. Many thanks!

I am also having the same problem, the option for photostream has dissapeared from 'photo settings', I have attached a screen dump to illustrate the issue. I can't seem to find any information on this. But have done the following things on my iPhone 4 recently. Upgrade to 5.1 and then to 5.1.1 (Photostream failed before 5.1.1 upgrade). I've also copied and deleted all the photos from my phone to my PC.
Very frustrating to say the least so I hope someone can shed some light.

We have 300 stores with mostly the same router config.
The router in each store is a cisco 891 router capable of doing QOS.
Each of our store is connected to internet through a local Internet Service Provider (ISP). They all have different ISP.
Each store has different Internet plan with different speed, some are DSL, other are using cable modem.
The connection between the router and the modem is 100Mbps. But the real speed after the modem will be different depending of the Internet plan the store is using. Exemple : 20Mbps download / 2Mbps upload.
I'm looking for a standard QOS config that would be put in each routeur and that would shape/policy the bandwith based on a % of the detected ISP link speed. The goal here is to prevent a single desktop computer of the store to take all available bandwith of the ISP link because of youtube , cloud photo upload, etc.
Because the wan of the router is in the modem at 100Mbps, I cannot use this bandwith indication for the % calculation. The ISP link speed (after the modem) is much lower than that.
In other words, I dont want to set specific qos value or bandwith manual value in each of my 300 router. Especially because the ISP speed is not the same in each site, it's a big job and it's changing all the time. Stores owner boost their link, etc.
So, Is there a way within the router to detect the Wan real max speed and to assign dynamically % of the deduced value and assign it to different policy-map rules, etc.

I'm unaware of any (one) "built-in" feature that will do what you're desire. (BTW, I don't believe PfR, as mentioned by Matt, will do what you desire either, but I've haven't used it in several years.)
I was looking to address a somewhat similar problem several months ago, and believe I could construct dynamic QoS shaping using an embedded device script working with IP SLA monitoring. However, the "problem" site (using a cable modem) closed, so I didn't pursue it further.
An alternative approach would be to use as few policy models as possible. For example if there are sites with 2, 3 or even 5 Mbps uploads, you might use a 2 Mbps shaper for each. Of course, sites with more available bandwidth won't obtain the full advantage of it, but your maintenance support will be easier. Conversely, especially for cable modems, running under their nominal speed might provide much more predictable performance, as HFCs are generally much more variable in their actual available bandwidth, moment to moment.

If you are asking about Layer 2 QoS configuration for switch-port then it is global command, which will apply on all switch-ports, not for any specific switch-port.
As far as switch-port mode is concern which in connected to LWAP then yes it is better you keep it in default mode.

Freetalk ConnectMe stopped working

I have Freetalk ConnectMe, and tonight it just stopped working. Green light flashing, neither a power-cycle nor factory reset gets it to connect. I can connect to the front page of the setup wizard, but the login screen just looks like 2 boxes with no text. It won't accept my Skype login.
How can I get it working again?

If the reset functioned correctly, you should have been brought to the wizard not the login box. It either didn't work that time, or you may not have kept it pressed long enough.

How can I do a factory reset without accessing the Web configuration interface?
Your device seems to be locked. Factory reset will resolve the issue, however you will lose all the configuration data and will have to do the Setup Wizard configuration again. To initiate factory reset, use a paper clip to press and hold the reset button on the device for as long as it takes for the LED to go off, and keep on holding it until the LED turns red again, then release. When this is done, give the device some time to load the software. The LED will start flashing green indicating you can access the configuration interface again.
There is not much an end user can do with that unit. I've been able to successfully reset my units by following or varying the reset procedure to hold the button longer or while I power cycle it. I would suggest you clear your browser's cache or try a different browser/computer in case the problem is localized to how your browser interacts with the page.
In the end, there could always be a hardware issue with your unit. If that is the case, you may be able to get it serviced, if it is under warranty.

QoS Implementatio for Citrix ,Smtp,Internet

mY Head office having Exchange server ,citrix & proxy server.
Total Number of user at my remote site is 20.
I want to implement QoS on my router .
So that they will get good citrix connectivity & exchange & then internet.

If you are having a P2P link with your head office then you can have the QOS config in effect,since it requires end to end identical QOS parameters to be defined on the link.
What you can do over here is assign priority to your Citrix traffic and give bandwidth gurantee to your exchange and for your internet in best effort basis.
You can classify the traffic patterns using ACLs based matching the traffic destined to Citrix server or based on the Citrix server access port.
The same you can follow for exchange server also on the basis of port which is being used to retrive and send mails.
Once you are done with this you can configure different class maps for respective traffic patterns.
Once you are done with the classification part create a policy map and bind the class maps under the policy map with necessary priority and bandwidth parameters defined.
Then the policy map to be binded under the interface which gets you connected to your head office.
As a prerequisite you need to mention proper bandwidth parameter on the interfaces under which you are binding the service policies.
Also you need to have identical configurations done at the head office end too..

I'm trying to setup skype Freetalk and Bonjour wont' launch

I'm trying to setup skype Freetalk. The instructions say: On MAC start Safari, go under bookmarks, click on "show all bookmarks" and then click on "Bonjour" Clicking on FREETALK Connect.Me icon will launch a setup wizard that will guide you through the setup.
I can see Bonjour under bookmarks, but clicking on it doesn't do anything. I installed an update, so that's not the problem.
HELP!!!

My dvice flashed red for a few secongs, then started flashing green. It is still flashing green.
It is listed in my router's device list.
This is all I see in Safari Bookmarks:
Nothing happens if I click on "Bonjour"... I get taken to Apple's Bonjour page if I click on "About Bonjour".

Config for Production client

Dear all,
I'm a new basis and now I'm working in big project ERP. I have a disturbed about config for Production client.
In scc4 we must set client role is Production and No change allowed for Objects. But in production some time we need do Open and Close Period, or change following business requirement, ... This is not allowed to do in Production client.
How do we config for Production client to cover this requirements ?
Do we need a config client for maintain Production client ? Example: Production client is 500, Config client is 100. When we need Open or Close Period or change anything, we do in 100 and transfer request to 500.

You can customize transaction to be executable although the setting in SCC4 is "productive", this is accomplished by using transaction SOBJ:
Note 1497640 - Open and close periods in productive client
You can theoretically put every customizing view there and make it "executable" in a production system.

How to use the same services-config for the local and remote servers.

My flex project works fine using the below but when I upload my flash file to the server I doesn't work, all the relative paths and files are the same execpt the remote one is a linux server.

I think the problem is the line

In Flex, there is feature that lets developer to put all service-config.xml file configuration information into swf file. with
-services=path/to/services-config.xml
IF
services-config.xml
have tokens in it and user have not specified additional
-context-root
and this swf file is not served from web-app-server (like tomcat for example) than it will not work,
Flash player have no possible way to replace token values of service-config.xml file durring runtime if that service-config.xml file have been baked into swf file during compilation,
for example during development you can launch your swf file from your browser with file// protocol and still be able to access blazeDS services if
-services=path/to/services-config.xml
have been specified durring compilation.
I dont know any better way to exmplain this, but in summary there is two places that you can tell swf about service confogiration,
1) pass -services=path/to/services-config.xml parameter to compiler this way you tell swf file up front about all that good stuff,
or 2) you put that file on the webserver( in this case, yes you should have replacement tokens in that file) and they will be repaced at runtime .

A Suggestion for Skype to consider regarding the T...

Hello, I have a suggestion for Skype. When I look at my "Purchase History" in my Skype account it no longer shows the time my order was placed. Not having this information makes it difficult managing my subscription.
I would like to see Skype include the time a transaction was made in the "Purchase History" .

Truth is the wiki is fantastic, and dedicated people have spent an amazing amount of time putting it together... So for ALMOST EVERYTHING there is detailed step by step information that basically will fix your problem. You just need to read it, understand it and possibly even research on your own the parts you don't understand.
When people just come to the forum and ask to be told directly instead, yeah we may seem elitist expecting they know enough to figure it out on their own... But that is only because the community already wrote out a really really detailed explanation for them, but they just wanted someone else to do the work/troubleshooting for them. Its a bit weird to ask stranger to care more about your problems then you do
But, detailed and specific questions are met with wonderful and fantastic help. This is the most stable and functional distro/operating system I have ever run (in part because after "building" it its pretty easy to fix.)
This ISN'T a newbie distro in that its not for people who just want a working computer for minimal effort... That doesn't mean its hard mean or bad, but it does mean its targeted towards serious users who want to be able to build and fix their own system. A certain standard is expected (and I really like that), its not hard to meet it.... But if you don't want anything expected of you you may not want arch. Reading a paying attention can make it more or less an easy and fruitful experience for even novice users however.

Yes after I had the ideas, wrote a survey and created the Skype Room group, I discovered the Forum thread about Skype Ideas and had the same thought. they are already doing this. So, I guess the benefit of mine is to raise awareness of this Skype Idea Community Board.
In my Skype Room guidelines, there is a link to the Survey which has links to all the Skype Ideas Boards for all the Skype clients, (Win7,8 iOS, Mac)... well Mac didnt have one, but I linked to the Mac blog & community.
I completely agree and love the explanation of the process to elevate the most Kudo'd (voted for/ popular) idea requests for implimentation. Very Impressive. People don't relaize that Skype/MS is listening... as you said ... to the clear focused voice of the most voted for and commented on Ideas for Skype changes. Camera is not working for Skype in Mac OS Maverics

Hi,
I have MacBook Pro (Mid 2012). I have updated it to MAC OS Maverics.
Since then camera is not working for Skype (Version 6.8.0.351)- only at the start it works for few seconds and then it freezes.
It was working fine with Mac OS Lion.
Please suggest some wayout from this.

Config for Dispatch Intrastat

Hello Experts,
Our client has a manufacturing plant in France which is already in SAP. Now they are planning to come up with another plant in France. We will be creating a new Company Code and Sales Org. My question is that since France is already in SAP and uses Intrastat reporting so do we need to make any config for new Plant/Sales Org or is the Intrastat setting defined at country level only.

We are going to create a new Plant as well as a new Sales Organisation. In Intrastat there is one setting where we assign Business Transaction Type to Sales Org/Item Category combination. For the reference Sales Org this setting is already in place so do we need to do this setting for new Sales Org also or does it get copied when we create new sales org with reference to existing sales org?
In my view on the current set up which you are incorporating for new plant at France, there is no need to have new Company Code and Sales organization unless and untill there is some legal requirement at EU(If export process needs to be triggered). There is not much information available on Intrastat functionality but as i understand from you, you create Business transaction type at Intrastat, and then assign business transaction type to Sales organization, My suggestion would be :- most likely you would have to extend and include the newly created Sales Organization for Business transaction type.
