QOs detoriation with increase in bandwidth utilisation
we are the MPLS service provider providing MPLS services in India.we notice that Voice quality detoriates as soon as the bandwdith utilisation of the customer links increase more than 60% of link bandwdith particularly with FTP. we have implemented QOS properly. i am told that qos is ineffective if bandwdith utilisation increases more than 60% of link bandwdith. customer should be adviced to increase the bandwdith. Is it true? please help
Hi
AFAIK if u configure strict priority to your voice traffic (i.e.,LLQ for your voice)it shuldnt affect your voice traffic at all regardless to your bandwidth utilsation since it reserves a particular amount of B/W for your voip traffic which again can be configured manually.
The same you can do under your policy map configurations, hope you are having LLQ in place for your voice otherwise would suggest to look onto that and try out the same.
And when theres no congestion thts your h/w queue is ample enough to serve your traffic the software queues will be bypassed (which are manually configured) and if theres some congestion then your S/W queues kicksin.
so in a ideal customer network with voip and other traffic i would go with llq for voip and cbwfq for other traffic based on the traffic patterns using the DSCP,IP Prec values..
to be more precise you can go for LFI also to slice your packets so that your voip packets dont get backlogged..

Etherchannel, two links, but no increase in bandwidth
Hi,
We have a problem with an EtherChannel that we have between us and a content provider.
We have two 1Gb links in the Etherchannel but we can't seem to get the total bandwidth above 1Gb.
I have created the same situation in a lab environment. Same thing there, I cannot get the total bandwidth to more than 10Mbps ( I statically set the speed of the physical interfaces/members to 10Mbps individually).
Does anyone have any idea if there is some configuration parameter that we missed that is limiting the total bandwith of the Etherchannel to the same as the speed of the individual interfaces, rather than the combined bandwidth? A big benefit about implementing an Etherchannel is the increased bandwidth, and we kind of miss out on that.
Below is some of the configuration of the lab.
Two Catalyst 3560 running 12.2(50)SE3
Switch A, and respectively on B
interface Port-channel47
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,28,900
switchport mode trunk
interface GigabitEthernet0/15
description eth-cha1
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,28,900
switchport mode trunk
speed 10
channel-group 47 mode on
interface GigabitEthernet0/16
description eth-cha2
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,28,900
switchport mode trunk
speed 10
channel-group 47 mode on
port-channel load-balance src-dst-ip
I have tried different load balancing parameters, and different channel-group x modes but it does not make a difference.
Thanks

Update,
We have not been able to solve the issue as of yet.
We have done some serious testing the last few days to solve the problem. We have noticed that in an etherchannel where we use trunks we may increase the bandwidth by changing it to
port-channel load-balancing src-dst-mac
However, on the link that we have to the content provider we use a routed interface for the port-channel and on this connection we cannot go above the total of 1Gb (limit for one of the physical links).
The config is:
interface Port-channel10
no switchport
ip address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x
ip pim sparse-mode
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
no switchport
no ip address
no cdp enable
channel-group 10 mode active
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/2
no switchport
no ip address
no cdp enable
channel-group 10 mode active
port-channel load-balance src-dst-mac
Any ideas to what is going wrong?
Greatful for any tips / ideas

As the other posters have already noted, single flows only use one link of an Etherchannel. However, even when using multiple flows and even the "ideal" hashing algorithm, it's also possible two flows will hash to the same link. I.e. it's not a given that multiple flows will use all the possible aggregate bandwidth.
On dual Etherchannel, for example, since the odds are 50/50 which link a flow will hash to, I assume my effective aggregate bandwidth at about 150% not 200%. For three link Etherchannel, I expect about 200% not 300%, etc. (NB: also note for odd [and non-binary?] number of links, hashing isn't even across links.) -
Hi,
I'm looking to combine three 54Mbps Wireless radios to increase wireless bandwidth, load balancing and redundancy. My intention was to create an etherchannel using the connected Cisco 2960 switch ports but I have read this is not a recommended solution. Could anyone provide details of a recommended solution and the required devices? Thanks in advance for your help.If you're in a L2 scenario with lots of VLANs, then you can setup your three bridges and push different VLANs over different bridges - it's crude but it works. Obviously you'll need to run spanning tree!
If you want to do this properly though, you should be using 2.4GHz & 5GHz, not just one or the other.
Failing that, you could use other more dedicated equipment like Laser Links, or go to a manufacturer that specialises in high-capacity / high-reliability bridge links, as this kind of thing isn't really on Cisco's current portfolio. -
Safari 5.0.6 quits with increasing frequency
Similar problem to others. Since upgrading to 5.0.6 (OS 10.5.8) Safari quits unexpectedly, and with increasing frequency. A few times lately have been unable to submit report to Apple. Here is the latest report. I am somewhat versed in tech, but not too much. Thanks in advance for your help.

0x945bIt has been reported that some older versions of Java on the Mac are vulnerable to an exploit that can result in the installation of malware (the "Flashback.G" trojan.) I see no evidence that it has happened to you, but you'd still be well advised to disable Java in Safari's preferences. That will have the added benefit of stopping this crash.

Jstart process in PI is running with more than 90% utilisation
Hi ,
jstart process in PI - java is running with more than 90% utilisation CPU utilisation.
But when i check jsmon the jstart PID is something else.can there be more than one jstart processes running.
And how to correct this high CPU utilisation of the that particular jstart process.
Regards,
balaji.RHi Balaji,
To analyze this kind of issue you should follow note 742395.
It is quite simple to detect what is causing the high cpu:
1. Find the thread that is consuming the CPU (in the note you can see how to do it for all the OS)
2. Take a thread dump in the JVM.
Now you just need to find in the thread dump you took from the JVM the thread and see what he was doing in the thread dump.
In this way you can search this thread for notes to see if it is a bug or something like that and fix it.
I hope it helps.
Thanks,

Can we develop cells or push buttons with increaseing number auotmatically
hi all
I am customizing a sinario which contains different number of flats in different appartments. Sianrio is to customize Flat nos. as a blocks.
So if we give no.of Flats in an Appartment, can we get blocks with numbering with increase order. Is it possible to develop Text areas or Push buttons in GUI programming.
if so please explain me.
For example : if we give number 10 then it should dispaly 10 blocks.
thankyou,
regards
HanumaNot sure if you can dynamically create buttons on a screen, however, you could use an ALV Grid and show a number of "flats" per line and react to each one as a hotspot.
i.e. Put up to 10 flats on a line. then read the line and determine the one pushed by Field Name.
you may be able to create a button in each cell of the grid, and perhaps name each one individually.
The crude way would be to put the max number of buttons on a screen and simply set unavailable "Flats" button to active.= 0.

SNMP Get router bandwidth utilisation
I’ve got some problems trying to locate a particular counter using the Mib explorer. My Cisco router is 2801 Software (C2801-IPBASE-M), IOS Version 12.4(1a) I’m trying in vain to locate the input/output rate (in bits/sec) for two of my interfaces. I've tried .iso.org.dod.internet.mgmt.mib-2.interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifInOctets (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.10) and .iso.org.dod.internet.mgmt.mib-2.interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifOutOctets (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.16) both provide the total (accumulated) traffic in/out of the interface which is not what I need. Can anyone advise which OID should I use to get the input/output rate (in bits/sec) for the interfaces?
Hi Collin,Thanks for the reply. Noted at there isn't an OID for the info which I need. However,
do you know who MRTG works? They seems to be able to display the
results on the bandwidth utilisation at that point in time.Your advise please.
Hi,
In order to know about MRTG just check out the below link hope it useful information regarding MRTG calcultion of objects.

Renaming audio files with increasing numbers.
I don't know if this is a Logic or a MacOS question but since it has to do with music I post it here.
I received three Cds with audio files. Every CD starts from track number one. I want to import all that files into logic. It confuses me when I have three audio files with the same name in my audio window. I want to rename them so I can see to which CD they belong.
I could rename all the files manually. But is there a way to rename the files with increasing numbers all at once?
Can I do that with the file manager or automator??
Thanks for help,
EddieHi
what i do is import the files in Logic.
In the arrange window select all the different regions (i only have done this when they're on the same track).
Select the text tool.
click on the first track you wanna rename - a blue box will appear.
type the preferred name with a 1 after it.
all the regions following that region will be renamed incrementally.
You can also do this with a single region that you have split in logic.
Or you can split a region in logic and to rename them as individual files i press ctrl-F and ask logic to save them as "xxxfile1" - or with out the "1" i can't remember - and it saves them all incrementally.
Hope this helps

Do Apple shops hold stock with larger memory options, or do you have to order them direct as a special build? Surely most people would find 256GB of storage limiting?mbaker74 wrote:

Just use the online store, but before you finally checkout, check availability. If it is available at a store near you, you can then just either cancel and go get it, or checkout to hold it for you and go get it. Otherwise, you can have it delivered to a store for pickup, or directly to you.
There are two Apple stores near where I live, but they never seem to actually have anything but the base stock models available in the store as normal stock. But ordering online is easy, and I've bought numerous upgraded machines that way and never had a problem. -
How does QoS work with WAAS WCCP? What's the interaction between Router QoS Traffic Classification and WAE Traffic Application Policy?
By default, WAAS preserves the DSCP marking on intercepted packets. There is a configuration option to set/override the DSCP value at the global (device), application, and classifier levels. Currently WAAS provides marking only. There is no action taken by WAAS based on the DSCP value.

I have been receiving the error message ...'iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time. Please try again later" over that last month with increasing frequency. What is the cause and solution?
Hello e-b p,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
When encountering iTunes Store connectivity issues, the following resources provide the best solutions. To isolate the issue further, I'd be curious to know if it persists on other Wi-Fi networks (assuming you are using a portable computer). Either way, please attempt the steps outlined in these articles:

Need an script to create some user account with increasing passwords
hi friends
i'm not expert in scripting.
manager gave me a list of about 50 users which i must create in my windows server 2008 R2 local users & groups snap-in (Lusrmgr.msc).
suppose i have this 5 users :
1-albert 2-Brian 3-calvin 4-carl 5-john
i need an script (maybe for /L ),so that it reads this 5 users from a text file or .csv file & create them & their password be so:
albert's password be abc1
Brian's password be abc2
calvin's password be abc3 & so on.
i mean their password be abc ending with increasing number which increases one unit
thanks in advancedThere should be some automatic user account generating scripts in the
repository.
You can request a script here:

This forum is for scripting questions, not script requests.

IMac freezing with increasing frequency
For the last couple of months my iMac has been crashing with increasing frequency.
The crashes manifest as freezes and seem to random. Sometimes they happen when I'm doing Finder operations, sometimes in Safari, sometimes Mail, sometimes iTunes, sometimes any of a dozen other apps I run regularly. These freezes never seem to leave behind a crash report. Also, after I do a hard boot, sometimes the first one or two attempts to restart also result in a freeze during the startup sequence. Sometimes I only get to the startup gear, sometimes I get to the blue-screen right before the login, sometimes I get as far as half of my stickies popping up and then I freeze again. I've tried Disk Utility -> Repair Disk many, many times (normal SOP for me following a hard boot) and there are never any errors reported. Disk Permissions will occasionally find a file or two that needs to be repaired, but that never seems to make a difference. I've also run the hardware check dozens of times; no errors. I've even fsck'ed a few times to see if that reported any problems that Disk Utility didn't - all to no avail.
I've tried killing all non-essential processes and turning off all of my Login Items, but this didn't help either.
Sometimes I'll restart and everything will be just fine for days, maybe even a week or two, then all of a sudden, freeze after freeze after freeze.
Today has been particularly bad. I haven't been able to keep things going for more than about half an hour. That is, until I restarted in safe mode. In anticipation of possibly having to take my machine into the local Genius Bar (or maybe having to try a clean install), I decided to clean up my desktop and backup a bunch of critical files, etc.. Also, I'm drafting this message in safe mode, since the last two times I tried to do it from a regular boot, Safari froze the machine.
So far, no freezes in safe mode. However, no sound and other restrictions, so this is obviously not a particularly useful mode to operate in...
Before I go any further I should mention that there is another symptom that may or may not be related, but I suspect that it is. Sometimes windows get blocky noise in them. Lots of little rectangles which seem to be copied from elsewhere on the screen. If I force the window to refresh, everything will look OK again, but it might happen again immediately or it might take a while to happen again.
My initial gut reaction was that there was a memory problem in the display RAM, but as I said, the hardware check has not found anything and I tried it again, and again.
So far I have not associated these blocky windows directly with a freeze. In other words, the two events seem to be independent, though they could very well have the same root cause.
Well, that's all I can remember off the top of my head.
Frankly, I getting to be pretty sure that the problem was with the hardware until I booted in safe mode and am not seeing the problem.
I would appreciate any diagnostic advice that anyone would care to offer.Unfortunately I have had this very experience with freezing/crashing iMacs at TWO different jobs and TWO different computers. In each case the Macs where brand new, out of the box. The first time in 2006, I had started a new job and convinced my boss (a die hard PC fan) that macs where the way to go in the art department. Reluctantly he plunked down for a 24" iMac. Within a couple of days, the crashing and freezing started, randomly at first. Then every few hours-regardless of the application load. Finally, it would run for three or four minutes, than Kaput. Applecare sent a tech who said it was a processor problem. With the processors swapped, the freezing stopped for a few days, then returned with a vengeance. Not only was it a nightmare- seeing as I had sworn up and down to the Admins that Macs where great, but our workflow in the department virtually stopped at this point. Within a week they had me back on a wonky PC. Suffice it to say, my tenure at that company was a short one. The next time about a year later was at a print shop. We had migrated our software and files from our Macbook Pro, Mac mini and g5 (which strangely enough was really slow) to a brand new 24" iMac and within three days, the whole gamut of crashing to complete freeze. It cost the company roughly
$50 000 in lost file processing that week. In both cases we had tried everything from moving the computers to a cooler room, fresh install (Tiger in the first case, Leopard in the second), you name it.
At this point I decided that I should find some work in Graphic Design that just doesn't depend on Macs. I also know a slew of people (industry & personal) with a frightening number of horror stories about their iMacs. All with the same symptoms. This has REALLY shaken my faith in Apple. And even tho I'm a fan and love the OS, I honestly don't think I'd invest in one without a serious overhaul of the line. -
ASR9000/XR - QoS - Limit overall amount of bandwidth per IP
We have a few thousand broadband customers in our network with various speed packages. The highest speed package of 500Mbps.
I'm trying to create an ingress QoS policy that I can apply on my interface facing my upstream providers that will limit put a bandwidth cap PER IP ADDRESS of 500Mbps.
I don't want to limit the overall interface to 500Mbps.
Goal of this is to protect my links deeper in my network from getting over run in the event of a DDoS attack.
Now I know this is not going to protect or mitigate any DDoS attack (like the vDDoS solution with the VSM and Arbor Networks), as budgets are not allowing me to go down that road at this time.
Any ideas on how a QoS policy would look like?
I can limit the overall interface, but struggling with how to limit an interface on a PER IP basis because i want to utilize as much of the 10GE port as possible (under normal conditions).
Simple diagram below.
Look forward to any ideas on this!
