QoS for IP Communicator over WLAN

Hi, We are in the process of deploying Cisco IP Communicator 2.1.1.0 but we are having voice quality issues when use IP COmmunicator over the wireless...We want to know if the AP 1200 series can be configured for QoS or the configuration has to be done only the switch port level..Thanks in advance..Our laptops are 802.1p enabled. Raj.

depends if you're using vlans on the ap or not (if yes configure qos on the ap, if no configure them on the switch.
the following is a useful resource on wireless qos...

  • QoS for Live Communication Server/Video on LAN, WAN

    Hi,
Imagine I need to deploy "Microsoft live communication server" or other type of video conferencing application on LAN and WAN throughout my organization.
What type of QoS mechanism should I approach? CBWFQ? How about LLQ?

    Hi,
have a look at "IP Videoconferencing Solution Reference Network Design (SRND)"
    http://www.cisco.com/application/pdf/en/us/guest/netsol/ns280/c649/ccmigration_09186a00800d67f6.pdf
It covers among other things QoS in the WAN and in the Campus (LAN).
In the WAN LLQ would be advisable, LAN QoS depends strongly on your swtches QoS capabilities.
Hope this helps! Please use the rating system.

This is easily done with dial peer statements . The dial peer in your originating router must route the calls to the terminating router first. That would look like :
dial-peer voice xxxxx voip ( the xxxxx is just a tag)
destination-pattern 45... (that would route any 5-digit calls beginning with 45)
session-target ipv4:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (ip address of the terminating router)
If digitones are to be dialed after the connection is established, use the statement:
    dtmf-relay-h.245-alphanumeric
You could also use a statement to specify the codec to be used:
    codec g711ulaw
You would need multiple voip dial peers if the calls were going to different routers based on the dialed digits. If all calls are sent to the same terminating router, use all wild cards in the dest-pattern statement.
At the terminating router configure pots dial peers:
    dial-peer voice xxxxx pots
    dest-pattern 45...
port x/x (whichever port the call is to be terminated on)
prefix 45 (this re-inserts matched digits which are stripped off by the pots dp)
Repeat for other ports which will receive calls.

  • QoS for Video Data

    Hello Together,
I like to implement a QoS Policy class to prioritise "Windows Netmeeting". Does somebody know the well known port number and can somebody recommend an bandwidth that i should provide at least to this class ?
    Thanks in advance.

As you can find in the Netmeeting IP ports table below, netmeeting uses dynamic ports for Video streaming. So I am not really sure how you can configure QoS for the same.
Anyone has a good tip to achieve this.?
    Port Purpose
    389 Internet Locator Server (TCP)
    522 User Location Server (TCP)
    1503 T.120 (TCP)
    1720 H.323 call setup (TCP)
    1731 Audio call control (TCP)
    Dynamic H.323 call control (TCP)
Dynamic H.323 streaming (RTP over UDP)

  • Number of connections over WLAN bridge?

I have a network that has been working flawlessly for many years but when I recently added a printer I ran into some problems. The printer is connected to a switch that is connected to an Airport Express that is connected over WLAN to an Airport Extreme. My problem is that I can only connect four devices to the switch. If I connect a fifth device it does not get an IP adress until I disconnect one of the other four devices. Please see the attached overview of the network. Red dotted lines represent wireless connections.
Any ideas about what causes this behavior is appreciated. Thank you.

on a jetpack or mi-fi 5 GB is nothing. Streaming Netflix can use 2.3 GB an HOUR. Even streaming YouTube in HD can use 1 or 2 GB per hour. I'm not sure why people think 5 GB is a lot for a regular internet connection. it's not. That why people should be using cable or DSL or fiber for internet

  • Why should I use Publish instead of Routing for SOAP messages over JMS?

    Hi,
I currently read the book "The Definitive Guide to SOA - Oracle Service Bus" and found the following sentence in the chapter "Wrapping an Asynchronous Web Service with a Proxy Service" on page 131, which confuses me:
When you send a SOAP message over a JMS queue, you need to use the Publish action, not the Routing action. <<Are there general restrictions, when to use Publish and when to use the Routing action in asynchronous communication? Is this special for SOAP messages over JMS?
    Thanks for your advices,

What Can Amazon Web Services Be Used For?
Although Amazon Web Services is a cool technology, it also provides the very useful function of enabling business partners to interact with Web site through standard protocols. This interaction can lead to a deeper, more valuable relationship for parties involved. Here are a few of the ways that partners are benefiting from Web Services:
Associates: Associates program enables Web sites to link to Amazon.com and earn referral fees for sales that they drive through their links. Many Associates are now using Web Services to build more effective links to our store, thus enhancing their sites and earning more money.
Sellers and Vendors: Amazon.com has thousands of third-party sellers who offer their products on our Web site. Using Web Services, these sellers can more easily manage large quantities of inventory on our platform, and download the latest product information to make sure that their products are competitively priced.
Developers: Among the thousands of developers who have signed up to our Web Services program, many are now creating solutions to help other people work with Amazon. These solutions are powered using our Web Services APIs.

  • QOS for inbound traffic on 3560

Just to clarify what I'm asking.... I would like to make the congestion happen on our end and not on the ISP's equipment that I have no control over traffic shaping etc... I can't limit the bandwidth on the aggregate port that the metro e connects to (3750) because it would limit it for all locations and not just one. I think my only option is to limit the bandwidth on the switch at the location in question but I guess it would have to be on the ingress side, but then will it still drop packets according to dscp priority during congestion?

I have a little problem I hope you guys can help me with. We have a location that has a metro e hand off from our ISP. The same metro e also serves other locations and the aggregate point is at our main office which goes to a Cisco 3750 stack. The location in question has a single Cisco 3560 switch. We need to apply QOS for both inbound and outbound traffic to this location. I can tag the traffic to and from there but how do I make it so that the 3560 (or 3750) gets saturated and not the ISP connection for incoming traffic (so we decide what packets get dropped)? srr-queue bandwidth limit can't be used on the metro e port on the 3750 because this would limit all locations and not just the one.Should I put another small switch and put it in from of the 3560? This way I could use srr-queue and apply QOS to the egress queue.I hope this...

  • Ethernet communications over writing RIO on boot up

I have CRio 9068 that writes all setpoints to a text file on board while the program is running. My HMI is Vartech touch screen computer running windows 7 embeded. When power is cycled to the system and it reboots both the controller and HMI I loose my setpoints that were in the text files as they are getting over written from the touchscreen. We are using network streams over ethernet for the communications between devices. Is there any sample codes that I can look at to better understand how to prevent this from happing? I have thought about using a first call wired to time delay off timer then allowing the string to write the new variables but I don't think this is the best solution.

You'll want to Fetch the current values from your cRIO and store them on your HMI. You can see this pattern by creating the LabVIEW Real-Time Control on CompactRIO sample project, opening RT Main.vi on the cRIO and look at the case "Send Control Configuration to UI". Basically the messaging scheme you're talking about should be bydirectional. When your HMI connects to the cRIO it requests an update BEFORE it sends anything out, and waits for the cRIO to respond.

  • SX-20 Camera Communication Over UTP

We are using an SX20 codec with the PrecisionHD 1080p4xS2. As our camera and codec are more than 3 metres apart, we are using 2 breakout cables (one on the codec, one on the camera) for the proprietary HDMI/control plug (instead of using the supplied cable). The breakout cables are CAB-PHD4XS2-SPLIT=. Getting an image over HDMI through the breakout is working. Using the remote to dial a number, access menus etc is not working. There does not seem to be any communication over the UTP cable that carries the IR requests back to the codec. We are using a power supply to power the camera, but when this is removed the camera still seems to be powered via POE.
Do we need a custom pin UTP cable between the breakout devices? We have used a standard CAT6e cable and a standard cross-over cable. We have also tried swapping pins 3 and 7, and pins 3 and 6, as we have seen to be possible solutions posted on the web.

Questions about the SX20 codecs are probably better asked in the TelePresence section of the forums, so you may wish to move your discussion to there.
In any case, the maximum supported distance for the Visca Control (serial cable) is 20m / 65.6 ft, so you shouldn't have issues extending it to only 3m.
It is recommended that the camera is powered separately when using such an extension to the cable, and that the +12V pin on the Visca Control cable is not connected, apart from that, a straight through cable is required.

  • Nokia C7 - Problem with VPN Connection over WLAN

    Hello,
today I installed Nokia VPN Client 44.01(5) for Belle.
Before this update I used the following configuration: I set two SIP-profiles up and for each profile a own VPN-connection. One for connecting over radio and one for connecting over WLAN or hotspots.
So over all I had three kinds of connections or connection groups to choose: "Internet" with the radio and home wlan connections, "Intranet" for the VPN-connection over radio and "Intranet over WLAN" for VPN-connections over other WLANs.
The advantage of this configuration was that I could use the SIP-profile depending on my location and the phone had not to use the "standard" VPN-connection ("Intranet") over radio.
Now after the update I have the problem that I can't connect to my VPN over WLAN at all. Not with the SIP profile and not manually over the internet browser. There is always the notification "Connection Problem".
I tried also to put the "VPN over WLAN access point" from the "Intranet over WLAN"-group to the "Intranet"-group and gave it the first priority, but that doesn't helped too.
Does someone of you had or have the same kind of problem or otherwise has any clue about that?
Any help is very much appreciated!
Thank you in advance! I hope that I described my problem clearly.
