Qosmio F10 - need recovery CD

Hi guys,
I lost my recovery CDs that came with my computer, and I'll really appreciate if somebody help me get one.
Thanks in advance
evalulo

Hi
You can use the Toshiba recovery CD to reinstall the OS or you can also use the original Microsoft Windows CD. After the OS installation you can download the Toshiba drivers and install it in the right order.
1.) Chipset
2.) Common modules
3.) Graphic driver
4.) Etc..

  • Need Windvd 5 for my Qosmio F10

    Hello,
I have a Qosmio F10..a Japanese one...I live in Turkey and formatted my f10 ..Now it is English but I do not have programs such as Windvd and dvr ...and I cannot watch TV in windows XP...please someone help me ..I need windvr 5 for Toshiba (English)...
    Thanks

    Hello
WinDVD and WinDVD Creator applications are a part of the recovery image and it can not be downloaded or installed separately.
You can also use other applications for watching DVDs like PowerDVD or something similar. I presume that your Windows option is not MCE and in this way you need some other application for watching TV. I am not familiar with TV tuner built in Japanese units but I have heard that Japanese units have TV tuner that can be used in whole world.
If you have solution for this issue please let us know.
    Good luck!

  • Qosmio F10 doesn't run after recovery procedure

Hi, I have just purchased the toshiba recovery dvd for my qosmio f10 laptop, i put the dvd in and it goes through the recovery process and completes 100% it then tells me to remove the dvd and then press CTRL ALT DELETE to restart the computer.
Upon doing so it gets to the screen were it tells me windows is starting then the screen goes blank and flickers a couple of times, then the laptop re-boots and keeps on doing this, I press the F8 key when it restarts to go into save mode, but when it goes into save mode it tells me that windows is not fully set and won't go any further and tells me that I need to run set up again.
I do not have a windows cd only the dvd from toshiba which should put my laptop back to factory settings.
Can aynone help me before I ring toshiba?
    thank you.

    Hi
Its not easy to say why it happens. Usually the Toshiba recovery CD should works properly and after whole recovering procedure the notebook should run without any problems.
You have suggested that you have ordered this recovery CD from the ASP.
Did you get the right recovery CD? Check the CD description.
The other possibility is that the unit has a hardware fault. In this case you should contact the Toshiba service. Sorry but this is all what I can suggest.

  • Qosmio F10: Recovery DVD doesn't work?

Hi. I have a F10 series qosmio series lappy and well and well i keep getting random shutdowns, freezes, and a logon error every time i start up.
This has got very disturbing for me. I tried to use the system recovery cd i got with my laptop and when i follow the procedure stated in the user manual it starts the recovery then flashes that my system does not support the recovery.
Is this normal especially when i got my recovery disc with my laptop. I wish to reformat my hard drive back to factory settings and have it completely wiped with out having to buy a totally new hard-drive and windows xp.
What do i do and how can you assist me in this? I'm at the end of my teather as one of my jobs is an internet dj and I cannot keep crashing in the middle of my streaming. I do not wish to loose my job!!
    please help!

    Hi
Very strange! The fact is that you cannot use different recovery CD because every Recovery CD was designed for one Toshiba notebook model. For example you cannot use a Qosmio F10 recovery CD on a Qosmio G20.
However, I assume you use the delivered recovery CD (as you said) and usually the recovery procedure should works without any warnings or error messages.
In my opinion there is something wrong with the CD. Maybe the wrong CD was shipped with this notebook?
I recommend asking the Toshiba ASP in your country. There you can also order the new CD.
    bye

  • Qosmio F10: USB-Boot needed.

    Hi all
I have an Toshiba Qosmio F10 series.
I need the ability to boot from usb stick.
As toshiba-BIOS doesn't offer a USB-boot option, I want to ask if someone knows a
way how it will be possible.
    Thanks in advance to all!

    @r2d2
    thanks for your answer.
One possibility is to use the usb-boot-fdd to redirect to the stick
(means to create a boot-disk which has usb-drivers and checks the devices (stick or hdd/DVD ) for a bootable syste)
do you know how to create such a floppy-disk?

  • Need new motherboard/graphic card for Qosmio F10

Where can I buy a motherboard and/ or graphics card for Qosmio F10?
    Thanks, all.

Price, address and phone number please. Oh and an email address if there is one. I was hoping that E-bay might have a motherboard that I need, but I don't see any. I'm shopping around at the mo seeing where I could buy one.

  • Qosmio F10-103, Unmountable_ boot_ volume.......what can I do??

    Hi,
    I have a Qosmio F10-103.
One day ago the blue page with
    the writing ''Unmountable_ boot_ volume''
    appeared!
    What can I do?
I red on some forums that it (could) be
a problem of the Hard disk and that
I could repair the cpu using the
windows xp boot cd , copying the files
    boot.ini , NTDETECT.com , NTLDR ...but.....
Toshiba gave me only the DVD-rom backup,
    not xp boot.
Then I tried to use that DVD end I entered
into the Toshiba Recover Utility 1.0.1.0
and I had a disk checking.....the result was:
    ''Application error 29004
Read sector failure, result =1, drive=128, sectors
132479 to 132481 if the problem persists contact toshiba....''
    Here I am!
It's useful to say that all the modes of booting
    windows doesn't work.
Also, the ''look-like dos prompt'' that appears
once exit from the recover utility doesn't permit
to copy the file I need from the DVD.
    What can I do???
Is there something to do before......the formatting
    procedure??
    Thanks a lot!!!!!

    Hi,
it seems that your Qosmio has a corrupted windows. Like you wrote you can copy the missing or corrupted files from another media. It's right, the Toshiba recovery CD/DVD contains only an image and is a OEM version!
But you can copy these files also from another PC or Notebook. Then take a boot diskette and boot the Notebook. Then copy the files in DOS mode and try to reboot. Then it should work again!
    Bye and Good Luck

  • Qosmio F10: TV function doesn't work properly in the MCE

I have a Qosmio F10, the TV Function has never worked properly when trying to watch TV in the Media centre Mode, only when switched on without goint through windows.
I have connected the aerial to a loft aerial which provides a perfect signal for other Televisions.
When I go to settings it always comes up no signal found any ideas?

    Hi
I presume that your unit is preinstalled with recovery media and if yes, in this case you dont need any driver. The hardware is configured properly and it must work well if the antenna is connected properly. In my opinion you should learn more about Media Center Edition and how it works. Make a try with VHS recorder. Connect it to the notebook and scan the channels. The MCE will find just one channel (in my case number 30) and you can watch VHS cassettes on your notebook.
    Please check this page http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/default.mspx
And there you will find explanation how it works.
    Good luck!

  • Qosmio F10 - Media centre wont start

    Hi
I have a Qosmio F10. My media centre wont start.
I get the message the application failed to work properly. ok to terminate the application
Someone please advice me what to do.
    thx in advance.

Sounds like the OS or Media Center is corrupted.
Run CHKDSK C: /F from a command prompt to fix any file system errors, and maybe run WindowsUpdate to update the system.
Otherwise you may need to backup your data and run Recovery to reinstall Windows back to its factory state.

  • Qosmio F10: Monitor screen looks like an Andy Warhol picture

I am currently having problems with my monitor screen looking like an Andy Warhol picture. I have resorted to going through the Product Recovery DVD-ROM for my Qosmio F10/G10 Laptop in the hope that reverting it back to the factory settings would solve the problem but it hasn't.
The screen breaks down after the Windows welcome screen, leaving me with my desktop all Andy Warhol like (i.e. blocks of pixilated colour at the edges of the graphics). I have tried to reset the resolution which solves the problem to an almost acceptable level but on a temporary basis, because the problem re-appears again when I re-boot the laptop.
I think that it is something to do with the Windows Multimedia Operating system that was preinstalled on my computer (so no recovery disc). The reasoning behind this assumption is that I put a DVD film into the Multimedia that is part of Windows XP and the film is a moving Andy Warhol video.
I put the same DVD into the WinDVD that came as a Toshiba additional content and the DVD is perfect! My reasoning is, that if there was something wrong with the hardware of the Laptop, then all DVD reading programs would react the same way, but as they do not, it must be a programming (or operating system problem).
Am I on the right lines? Is there a way to solve the problem via a downloadable file?

Thanks guys for your replies, sorry if my question is confusing, but I couldn't think of any other way of describing it without the use of a screen dump to show you.
At the moment I haven't got another monitor to try, even though this looks as though it would have been the easiest option. I shall start asking round to see if I can borrow one to eliminate that variable.
However I will try to reinstall and to update "Graphic Drivers" to get rid out of this display problem.
    Thanks to all.

  • Qosmio F10-136 display drivers/video controller

I am in the middle of resintalling everything on my Qosmio F10-136 laptop. I have used the display drivers from the Toshiba website. However, in the device manager the video controller is showing an error and the drivers are not installed. The graphics card is a nVidia GeForce FX go5700. Scrolling pages up and down in IE is very slow.
Also when I go to display properties settings-advanced-adapter the graphics card is not shown under adapter type.
Anyone know what the problem is? Do I need to download drivers from somewhere esle?
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Hi
The graphic driver released on the Toshiba European driver page is working and can be installed properly.
I think you did something wrong.
Try to reinstall the graphic driver again.
Remove the graphic controller from the device manager list and reboot the notebook.
Then try to reinstall the driver again. I would recommend installing it in device manger.
Choose graphic card, update the driver, then point to the downloaded graphic driver and finish the installation.
    Cheers

  • Qosmio F10 - USB devices not being recognised properly

    Hi there,
I've been having major problems with the USB ports of my Qosmio F10. When ever I try to plug in a USB device, the F10 recognises there is something there, but always categorises it as an unknown device. For example, everytime I try to attach a USB mouse, it does not instantly recognise it, even after previously having gone into the device manager and manually installing a driver.
This has been the case since I bought the laptop 5 months ago, but I cant ignore it any longer.
    I have already tried :
    - uninstalling all USB controller and hub drivers and reinstalling
    - making sure that power save for the usb devices was not ticked
-ticking "install software anyway" in the driver signing options
When I open up device manager my USB looks like this
    - Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Controller - 24CD
    - Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Serial Host Controller - 24C2
    - Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Serial Host Controller - 24C4
    - Intel (R) 82801DB/DBM USB Universal Serial Host Controller - 24C7
    -USB Root Hub
    -USB Root Hub
    -USB Root Hub
    -USB Root Hub
Any help on this is much appreciated as its driving me nuts :-)

    Hi
I agree with Jack. You have suggested that the USB devices were recognized but as an unknown device. In this case the device drivers are needed.
Which USB devices did you connect?
Sometimes some USB devices cannot be recognised properly because of the low power of the USB ports. If the USB device needs more power than 500mA standard power the OS could has some problems with the recognition.
In this case you need a external power supply or a USB hub with the power supply.

  • Qosmio F10: Cannot setup TV Tuner!

I can't seem to be able to receive any form of TV signal on my Qosmio F10.
I have tried both automatic and manual setup of the TV signal within Windows Media Centre, whilst connected to different aerial points and my satellite receiver, but the software never manages to actually receive any form of signal.
I have checked that each of the cables works correctly by connecting it to a TV, and there is definitely a good signal.
All I can think is there is a problem with my Toshiba TV Tuner hardware (I uninstalled it and rebooted to reinstall the TV Tuner drivers), or possibly the little adapter cable.
    Anyone else had this problem?
    Any ideas??

It would appear that the TV tuner problem I am having is due to a weak signal. Toshiba are working on a fix to improve the TV tuner cards sensitivity, but a lot of the problem seems to be with Media Centre, which is very region specific and doesnt seem very flexible to me.
So I bought a FreeView digital terrestrial TV box (a nice, small Nokia one!) and a SCART-composite adapter. I also bought a WinTV USB2 TV tuner. I have since spent many happy hours testing different setups! Here are my findings (it's been quite a project!)
Analogue Aerial to the TV Card via RF Cable & Dongle:
Qosmio mode - Picks up three of five analogue channels with varying picture quality.
Media Centre - Doesn't find anything! Manual tuning results in no picture and intermittent sound. Unable to use Media Centre without infra-red receiver and remote (which is very annoying!)
Digital Satellite to the TV Card via RF Cable & Dongle:
Qosmio mode - Needs to be told not to skip the channel for some reason, but results a fairly good.
Media Centre - Doesn't detect anything, but able to manually enter the channel number and get reasonable results (as long as the infra-red receiver and remote are set up!)
Digital Satellite to Graphics Card via SCART-Composite Cable & Adapter:
Qosmio mode - Finds nothing (obviously only looking for an aerial connection)
Media Centre - Finds signal automatically. Best results so far for video, but doesn't work with the audio... The sound is sent straight to the sound-card, then processed via Media Centre and sent out again with a slight delay. This results in the sound being constantly repeated, which is rather annoying!!!
FreeView to TV Card via RF Cable & Dongle:
Qosmio mode - Finds FreeView signal fairly easily, plus three analogue channels!
Media Centre - Will only find FreeView channel by entering channel number during manual setup.
FreeView to Graphics Card via SCART-Composite Cable & Adapter:
    Qosmio mode: Finds nothing.
    Media Centre: Also nowt (surprisingly!)
Analogue Aerial to USB Port via WinTV:
    Qosmio mode: Doesn't work!
    Media Centre: Nope!
WinTV2000: Wow! Best picture so far. Also manages all five channels (our TV can't even get Channel 5!)
Digital Satellite to USB via WinTV:
Qosmio and Media Centre are no go.
    WinTV2000: Good results.
    Freeview to USB via WinTV:
Qosmio and Media Centre are still non-runners.
WinTV2000: Very good - FreeView works, plus all five analogue channels are available.
I hope this helps in some way. I'm sure you've already drawn your own conclusions...
    ;o)

  • No audio in my Qosmio f10-101 notebook

    Hello,
My qosmio f10-101 was working properly but for some reasons I used the product recovery DVD-ROM, after I've got finished with the recovery DVD i restarted the system and unfortunately this blue screen kept showing on the screen and the system kept rebooting automatically.
Anyhow I decided to install a windows xp professional original version that I had before and it was perfectly installed except for ONE  problem
I found that there is no audio in the pc, i tried each and every way to fix the problem, i've used the "tools and utilities" cd-rom and all divers were installed except for the audio driver, i keep getting this message "microsoft bus driver should be installed before installing the audio driver", so i downloaded the bus driver but still I cant install the audio driver
I've been trying to fix this problem for 6 months now but I failed to
any reply would be very appreciated
    thank you

    Qosmio F10-101
Probably you installed in the wrong order. You should install the chipset software followed by the display driver prior to any other driver. Also, install the Common Modules before any other Toshiba utility.
Get the Toshiba drivers and utilities for that model here.
I have attached the suggested order of installation.

  • Qosmio F10 won't recover after motherboard replacement

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with recovery on my Qosmio F10. It won't boot from the CD, I get a message 'media test failure check cable'.
I tried everything I could find here about this problem with no result. Then I read somewhere on this forum that recovery cd wouldn't work if the laptop has been serviced and has a new motherboard. This is excatly the case.
I had a new motherboard and CD/DVD drive put some time ago.
How do I make it work again?
    A.

    > Then I read somewhere on this forum that recovery cd wouldn't work if the laptop has been serviced and has a new motherboard. This is exactly the case.
Who has replaced the motherboard? The ASP?
Well, usually the Recovery CD should works after the motherboard replacement.
I presume the parts were replaced with exactly the same parts and therefore there shouldnt be a conflict between the Recovery CD and the new motherboard.
Did you try to boot from another bootable CDs like Win XP or Linux? Check this!
