Qosmio F10 shut down when I touch it

Hi everybody
Since yesterday, I've a problem with my F10.
It quite paranormal, so i give you the facts.
- the computer shut down when I touch it (when I close the screen, or touch it at bottom left)
- after that, the alimentation light flicks with this scheme:
1 long (blank) 6 shorts (Blank) and 1 long
- to shut up again, I must remove the battery and the alimentation, wait a little, and it can shut up again.
I've installed no updates, no software, and it looks like to be motherboard problem...
Naturally, it is not under warranty anymore...
So if you have answers !!
Thank's
Eric

I can't logon with Eric4, but it doesn't matter.
So, ok, I phoned to Toshiba Fr who saied me it was an electrical problem, and i should bring the computer to us.
So, I decided to take a screewdriver, and I opened the computer. I've used a dry spray, and I closed the box.
So, there's no problem anymore. I don't know the word in English, but I think it was a small metal dust on the motherboard.
Thank you for your help (but I must particulary thank my screewdriver).
Eric

  • WindowsXP shuts down when iPod Touch 2nd gen 8gb is connected

Everything was operating fine for the first day I was using my new iPod Touch. on the second day, I think I might have disconnected the iPod too early? The iPod itself is currently operating normally, however, every time I connect it to my PC/iTunes, the PC shuts down, then goes to the HP blue screen- the one that gives the "Esc, F1 and F8" options.
I restart and Windows says it has recovered from a serious error and wants to send the report.
PC is ok until connection w/Ipod.

Send the report and then wait while XP connects and tells you what the error is then you can "fix" it.
You can also check Event Viewer to find out the error. I'm guessing you messed up Apple Mobile Device Support and may have done something to the Windows usb drivers but only the error report can tell you for sure.
It might have nothing to do with your iPod or it might have everything to do with it but we can't help until we know what it is.
As for disconnecting iPods, wait till iTunes it says OK to disconnect and then use that arrow icon to do it. That will avoid all sorts of problems in the future.
If you want to end the sync early use the slider on the iPod (the one that reads cancel sync) and then use the disconnect arrow icon when you get the OK form iTunes.

  • IMac shuts down when I touch the computer

I am working on a relatively new iMac 20" Core Duo (circa July 2006). The problem is whenever I touch the side of the cpu/monitor in order to gain a better view of the screen the computer instantly shuts down. At first I thought I was mistakenly touching the power button located in the back, but there has been an instance where I merely poked the top front of the cpu and the same things happens. It instantly shuts down. This issue just started happening within the last day and prior to this I have had no problems with this computer. I think the power button could be out of whack, but I'm also told it could be an electrostatic issue. I have the computer plugged into a surge protector so, I know the problem can't be coming from there. Any insight into this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I understand everything but the RAM part. You
could not have added VRAM yourself, only ordered it
special, so that is still as you received it from
Apple. Since you received the iMac, if you added
SDRAM, you'll have to remove that and operate your
iMac with only original RAM. If you no longer have a
problem, then the problem is with the added SDRAM.
If your problem only shows up after using Office for
Mac, is it possible that you're using a registered
version without first removing the trial version? If
you have both on your iMac at the same time, just
drag the trial folder to the trash and delete it.
I'm sure you already know that kernel panics can be
the result of either hardware or software issues.

I did not add any SDRAM. The SDRAM came as it was standard. The extra VRAM was due to a special order from Apple. I am also aware of the Office for Mac, that cannot be, because like I said below, I am having the same problems after erasing and reinstalling OSX.

  • Why does my WindowsXP shut down when myiPod Touch 2nd gen 8gb is connected?

I originally posted this as a topic, but not sure now if that was the right way to go about finding a solution...I'm new here, pardon me.
    So,
Everything was operating fine for the first day I was using my new iPod Touch. on the second day, I think I might have disconnected my iPod too soon? The iPod itself is currently operating normally, as is my PC however, every time I connect it to my PC/iTunes, the PC shuts down, then goes to the HP blue screen- the one that gives the "Esc, F1 and F8" options.

PC runs ok until re-connection w/Ipod. Weird, eh? Can someone please help me?

Usually, this indicates a driver conflict or USB port conflict. See this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1502
If you have anything else connected via USB try disconnecting it and syncing.

  • IMac shuts down when slightly touched

I just replaced my OEM hard drive with a Western Digital 500GB HD which was is working fine. Yes, I installed it myself. I also just installed Parallels 5.0 trial version to run windows XP.
I thought it might be overheating, but the temps seem ok for the HD, cpu and etc.
Ever since I installed the HD, the display cuts out when I move the computer, with a loud crack sound. One time the display seemed very static (collected all this dust from no where) which I had to wipe off. When it shuts off, it sounds like the computer is still on, but the display just shut off.
Any clues to diagnose and fix the problem would be greatly appreciated!

I'm guessing, but you might have dislodged the panel's cable so that it's loose, or cracked the cable. In either case it might make for an intermittent connection that could be disrupted when you move the system.
This is of course presuming that it is indeed just the display that's shutting down. A loose power cable could also cause such a problem though that would shut off the entire computer. Might be worth checking, just to be sure.

  • QOSMIO x870 shutting down when in sleep mode

I'm not sure if this is working as intended or not.
I was working with the ECO setting to put my computer to sleep after certain amount of time. Once it was asleep for a certain amount of time, it would go into a shutdown/hibernation mode. It turns back on in the state that it was in when it went to sleep.
Also, if I have a program running and lock the computer, it will act like this as well when there is sleep time set.
I thought that I would be able to lock my computer and run a download over-night, but when I went to my computer in the morning, my computer was shutdown/hibernating. It came back up to where it was, but it appears that it hadn't continued the download for much over an hour before shutting down.
I don't think that this is intended, but I may be wrong.
I'm still digging around trying to find settings in regards to this. But I have hibernate turned completely off.
Is there some way to set the computer so that it won't shutdown/hibernate when in sleep mode and/or a locked screen?
In the meantime, I'm trying setting the ECO settings to "Sleep :: Never" to try to accomplish my download without the computer shutting down/hibernating during the process.

    Thanks tjk.
Those are great suggestions and got me looking in places I had not considered before. Unfortunately, the problem remains. The System Preferences did not have the shut down option activated and there are no parental controls active on the computer.
    Any other suggestions are welcome.

  • Macbook shutting down when not touching any keys

Help! I am having an issue on an old MacBook (white, not aluminum). The computer shuts down if I don't keep touching the mouse/trackpad or press keys. If updater is running, movies are playing, anything at all, it doesn't matter, the computer shuts down unless keys are being pressed or the trackpad is being twiddled.
Sometimes I get the dialog window asking "Do I really want to shutdown?" with the options to shutdown, restart, etc. Even if this pops up, the computer may still shut itself down.
This happens within the minute of not touching the inputs, usually within ten seconds.
Things I have done that didn't help:
    Resetting the SMC
    Zeroed drive and reinstalled OS
    Updated OS
    Booted from other OS versions
    Booted from externals and DVDs
    Zapped PRAM
    Ran Fsck -f
    Ran virus scans
Ran Disk utilities and repaired permissions
Ran Hardware test, no problems found
None of the above found anything (some permissions fixed, but didn't help)
    PLEASE HELP!!!
I still have my applecare protection for a few more weeks but im out of the country and by the time i get back it will be expired and there is no apple here where i can take it to them for help!!! i just need to know how to fix my laptop!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!

I have the exact same problem ! Anyone knows what to do? Started about 1 week ago and I have no idea why.. osx 10.6.8 Macbook , ca 1 year old..

  • I-pod shuts down when browsing album covers

After updating the i-pod touch to the new Op System 5 the player will shut down when I browse the album covers (holding the i-pod horizontal). It will work for about 5 covers but then shuts down. I did a reset but did not help
Anybody who is familiar with the problem?

    hiya!
within 30 seconds or so my computer shuts down and starts up again.
are you getting any sort of blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Pre Turns Off or Shuts Down when I close the keyboard

Is my pre screwed or is it OS?
It shuts off, not the version that other people have had where you have to pop the battery (the power button still works to turn it back on) out to get it to restart.  Anyway, it shuts off when I slide it closed.  I thought maybe something loose so I did it very slowly, not allowing it to even go all the way, the minute that the sensor tripped it back into "no keyboard" mode it turns off.
It's especially bad when on bluetooth...happens every single time.
Is there a solution for this.  Please palm, a lot of people are having this problem and there is no answer yet?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Palm is on deathwatch.  The Pre could have really kept them afloat, but there are too many problems with it.  When I first got my Pre in June, it was awesome!  Everything worked great.  But now, I am always having problems with it.  Here is the list:
    1. Pre turns off or shuts down when I close the keyboard.  (I had to make this one the first on the list since it is the topic.)
    2. Pre turn off or shuts down for no apparent reason and the only solution is to remove the battery, wait a second, put the battery back in, then turn it back on.  This takes forever.  Plus, because I have removed the back so often, my Pre squeaks when I am typing (from the plastic).  It is very annoying.
    3. The navigation system has a glitch where most of the time, it cannot find my current location.  The message says to make sure I am in clear view of the sky, but i always am.  There are many posts about this problem in other sections.  There are some solutions, and the often work, but it takes 5 minutes to reset the system.  It is a beating.
    4. The navigation system voice is usually very clear, but sometimes, the voice will skip over the names of streets as she is calling out the directions.  Ex. "Turn right on ________ Drive."
    5. Sometimes the keyboard will stop working.  I have to remove/replace the battery.  Again, this is time-consuming and further contributes to the squeaking problem when typing because you have removed the back so many times.
I like Sprint because I can get unlimited data, txt, and mobile-to-mobile calling for $70/mo.  So, I hope that someone comes out with a great touch-screen phone (not the BB Storm), because I want to stick with Sprint.  If you go with an iphone, you have to get AT&T, which will cost you at least $100 for the same.  That is a $360/yr difference!  I am sticking with Sprint.

  • Computer shuts down when syncing iPhone

My computer's been shutting down when I'm syncing my iPhone. No matter how hard I try, it keeps going off.
I don't think it's heat issue because I tried it when it was cool down or when there's fan- none worked.
Would you please help me? Turning computer back on every time when I'm syncing my phone is such a pain in the butt. :/

While performing a system update, I shut down my iPod touch. Can the pictures on my iPod be recovered if my iPod was not backed up?
iPod is fourth generation, the system update was a little over half complete.
I want to get the pictures off the iPod so that I can keep them. Is there any way to do this?

    Maybe,
    - if when you connect the iPod to your computer you can make a backup? If yes yo can restore from that backup
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    - Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backup dated when you started the update. the first stiep of an update is iTunes making a backup.
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

  • Itunes shuts down when clicking anything

My iTunes shuts down when I click anything on the screen other than the music. If I click anything on the sidebar (Store, Playlists, Library, etc.) or the album artwork it shuts down. I have tried pulling all the iTunes preferences out of the library and restarting the computer. This does not fix the problem. This has been going on for a few months, but I have been downloading the newest versions of iTunes and it continues to happen.

    Hey chaimoy,
It seems like you may be experiencing an unexpected quit from iTunes when importing a file into the iTunes library. I have an article for you that addresses this circumstance, and it can be found below:
