Did you choose the right PAL signal which is a standard in your country?
If not so do it. But if you have no choice so its not possible.
Furthermore I think the Jim meant setting the TV signal manually.
If you use the MCE so go to the settings and then general.
Choose MCE setup and set up TV signal.
There is very important to set the right region.
Then you can configure the TV signal manually.
But I can give you warranty that it will make you picture better.
As in the Toshiba document (above) described the TV might not work outside the country you have bought the notebook.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. MPEG means a whole bunch of different formats. What are the exact specs of your media? MPEG files often have multiplexed audio. You will probaby have to convert this.

Re-rendering video clips as sound-only files(while maintaining quality)

I am dubbing parts of a short film by re-recording actors(on the same camera) talking in a quieter setting.
The dubbing mpeg clips are about 2 minutes long each(roughly 250-400MB each).
I want to re-render the mpeg clips with just the sound so I don't have to have these 400MB clips,
which I'm only using for the stereo audio.
Sound seems to be much more "lossless" than video, so a re-render shouldn't alter the sound that discernably.
Can anyone recommend settings and/or file types, like wav or whatever, that will preserve as much quality
of the sound as possibly but eliminate the video so I'll have much smaller files to import.

As Harm states, just set up a new Sequence, or even Project, and then Import these AV files. Cut as might be required (or use the WAB to limit to just what you need), and then Export as WAV (Uncompressed) Audio-only. Import those resultant WAV files into your Project and drag them to the appropriate place on the appropriate Audio Track. Personally, I'd leave the original Audio around (just in case it's needed, for sync, or other), and just Mute its Audio Track. If that was from a muxed AV file, it could be useful as a reference. When all is done, you can either leave it Muted, or THEN Delete it.

As there is no sound only picture when connecting my ipad, do I need to also use the audio cable from Apple TV to an older Philips TV?

I have just bought a black Apple TV and it works fine when connecting my iPad to a modern TV. However on an older Philips TV, there is no sound coming through. Do I need to use an audio cable from the optical digital audio port in addition to the HDMI cable? The TV's HDMI does not appear to support sound.

Thanks. However no luck with this TV so far. I've purchased a converter to give a digital audio signal from the optical digital audio output port. The TV has an input audio digital port, but I've had no success in getting sound so far.
Is there any setting in the Apple TV menu that may affect the signal. I've tried the setting for 16 bit signal, without any success.
Perhaps this Philips TV may just not be compatible with the new black Apple TV. I have talked at some length with Philips support desk, but they've offered nothing new.

Qosmio F20 with Vista RTM

I have successfully installed Windows Vista RTM on my Qosmio F20-155 device. The installation went smooth and everything is fine.
I have the following problems which I suppose are common with everyone else:
- No SD card support
- Waiting for new nVidia card drivers
- Fn keys and media keys don't work
However, something I'm not very sure everyone is experiencing is that absence of sound support. Vista recognized the sound card is "SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio". However, I can't hear any sound from my speakers. I tried forcing another driver (that of Tecra, found on the support site), but Vista would fire a BSOD and die. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with my notebook because the Qosmio player can output sound normally (from outside Windows).
Anyone having the same problem? And do you think the RTM drivers are gonna be late?

The driver for Windows Vista seems to be functional :)
As I've seen mentioned somewhere else, I did not have sound on Windows Vista because I installed it while I had the sound muted on Windows XP. When I installed XP MCE on another partition, and un-muted the sound, Windows Vista was able to produce sound properly :)

What iOS in on your iPod? The Users Guide says:

I had to format my HDD in my Qosmio F20-137. Then I have reinstalled operative system (XP) and all drivers I found on Toshiba support site. But I can't find any driver for the sound card and thus my PC is now soundless (except the beeps from the PC speaker).
Where do I find the right driver?

It is very easy to find the driver. You must search in archive and check for drivers listed for WXP MCE.
Anyway, the right sound driver you can find HERE .

I have Installed Windows 7 on my Qosmio F20 and all drivers were installed by windows update after I connected to Internet.
I can play musik and videon files in Windows Media player but there is no sound in the inbuilt speakers or if I connect headphones.
If I look on the driver for the sound in devicemanager it says everything is OK. Does anyone know what the problem is?
I have also reinstalled Windows 7 but still same problem.

This could be a problem!
I think you would need to install the Win XP and would need enable the sound again (unmute). After that you could install the Win 7 again.

Quick-time film doesn't show picture, sound only!

Repeatedly quick-time film doesn't show picture, sound only! This happened after an update some time ago. The current version is 7.7 PRO under MAc OS 10.5.8. Very annoying...!!!!!!

Use the Movie Inspector window to tell us more about one of these files.
