Hello
What OS is installed at the moment?
If Windows doesnt start anymore there is not much what you can do and I would recommend reinstalling Windows from Toshiba recovery disk. Such a new and clean installation can help to get Windows working and new installed Windows system will also run a little bit faster and more stable so its recommendable to reinstall it from time to time (1-2 years).
So take the Toshiba recovery disk and follow the screen instructions to reinstall Windows.

    Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.
Thanks, let me know if the update helps,

  • My Satellite doesnt start any more missing or corrupt file

Hi, I have a problem which I hope someone will be able to help me out on.
My laptop (satellite) suddenly couldn't boot anymore, saying that the following file was missing or corrupt: windows\system32\config\system.
After doing some research I accessed the recovery console (using an xp cd) and tried to replace it. Making a back up of the original and replacing it from c:\windows\repair\system.bak
Now, the computer starts to boot, it shows the XP Home edition loading screen, but then the screen goes blank. And nothing happens. When I try to access the recovery console again, it asks me for the Administrator password when I try to log on to the windows installation. I then ran a program that can find the admin password and discovered that there was no admin password. However, just pressing return is denied!
I am now stuck. If anyone could offer any tips or ideas about how I can fix this, without a complete re format, as there are some important files on the laptop, that would be great!!
    Cheers. I'm going crazy!

pt0608, Windows 2K/XP makes backup copies of the system registry every time it creates a system restore point located in "C:\System Volume Information" or c:\system~1 (plus a few sub-folders) so I would recommend using these files instead. For more information have a look at - http://www.digitalwebcast.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=8658-1
Since you have an XP install CD it might be worth considering creating a BartPE bootable environment - http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder
This will provide you access to NTFS drives, USB removable flash drives, networking, and a cmd.exe prompt so you can copy files at your leisure.

  • Satellite A60 crashes and reboot cycle - system32\DRIVERS\Ntfs missing or corrupt

I have a Toshiba Satellite A60 which has recently developed a serious problem and is currently stuck in a crash reboot cycle. It began with the message "system32\DRIVERS\Ntfs missing or corrupt", I have read about this problem on message boards but still am unable to find a fix.
Currently on start up various error messages are displayed stating a driver is missing or corrupt, the Toshiba start up page has vertical lines of missing data and on the few occasions it will fully boot after a short period of time vertical lines appear through the display and it crashes.
I have tried a number of fixes:
    * Re installed windows XP pro (formatting the hard drive and renewing the partitions)
    * Updating the bios from the toshiba site to version 1.90 (I believe the update also flashes the bios, though would need this confirming?)
    * Swapping the hard drive with another laptop, still will not boot and HD works fine in the other laptop, ruling out the missing or corrupt files posibility.
I realise this could be a problem with the RAM and believe the laptop has 512 fixed to the motherboard, inaccesible without stripping down, but am not sure how to determine if RAM is the problem. Whilst trying these fixes I am getting problems with booting from the CD drive and can only get the drive to spin up and recognise the CD about 1 in 10 times.
Could anyone suggest a remedy or fix I may try? or suggest how they fixed a similar problem. Many thanks

You description ssounds not very good ;(
The hardware malfunction seems to be responsible for the vertical lines on the screen
If the vertical lines appear also an external display the board could be wrong.
Youre right, I have googled and it seems the Sat A60 supports an internal memory.
As far as I know such memory cannot be removed and only a electronics technician could solve such internal memory problem.
But are you sure that the internal memory is corrupt. The unit supports only 256MB of internal memory and other modules are removable
So you could try to replace it

  • Qosmio F10 does not boot up system missing or corrupt

I've got a Qosmio F10, and I use all the right procedures for PROUDCT RECOVERY DVD-ROM.
I have done all the updates drives necessary as well , but when I switch on the laptop came with a message error:" \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:"
So, now my computer start with boot options, but whatever you choose the system boot again and again...
    What to do??? Please.

Hmmm usually after the usage of the Toshiba recovery CD everything should run ok.
I read on some computer expert websites that this issue could be related to the hardware fault. Maybe the HDD or the memory module is corrupt.
I would firstly recommend formatting the whole HDD (delete also all partitions).
    Then install the OS again.
If it will not solve this issue you could check if its possible to install XP from the original Microsoft CD.
Additional you could check the memory modules. Try to remove one and use only one or replace it with a new one.
But please note that these are only my suggestions and Im not 100% sure if these proposals will solve you problems. Anyway its worth a try

  • Error -32810 occurred at The FieldPoint server initialization failed. Possible causes: 1. Missing or corrupt configuration file; 2. Failed to create callbacks. : FP Open.vi

I have two cFP-2120 RT controller. They both have NI-Serial RT2.5.6, DataSocket for LV RT4.2, NI-VISA 3.6, FP Drivers 5.1.0, FP VI Manager 3.1.0 LV RT 7.1.1 installed. But one same vi can run on one controller but not another.
the error message got when it runs on another controller is "Error -32810 occurred at  The FieldPoint server initialization failed. Possible causes: 1. Missing or corrupt configuration file; 2. Failed to create callbacks. : FP Open.vi"
I wonder by what it is caused?
    Thanks

    Hi Matthew,
As mentioned previously, this KnowledgeBase article may be of some help. Also, if your code is being run on an embedded controller and then a network controller (not embedded), you will need to run the program differently. On the embedded controller, you should deploy your VI in a Project Explorer or programmatically (as described here.) However, you do not need to deploy the program to a network controller, but simply run the VI.
I would also suggest creating a new .IAK file. Do you still see the same error? Also, double-check that the software installed on the controller matches the software installed on the host PC. If you have any file paths associated with one FieldPoint controller, ensure that you are changing them to match the second controller.
Please keep us posted on your troubleshooting steps. Have a great day!

    Hi,
If you want to reset or refresh your Windows, then I'd like to share this link with you:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
the reason why I share it with you is that the reset and refresh situations are different depending on the system installed in your machine.
if the system does have a recovery partition, then it might be corrupted, I'm afraid that you eill need to contact the PC manufactiure for a DVD disk.
By the way, Windows 8\8.1 also has some built-in advanced recovery options, you can boot your PC into recovery console to perform some troubleshooting steps.

  • After HD crash, restoring to new HD. Library files missing or corrupt. How can I get iTunes 10 to see my music

The hard drive on my fairly new HP Pavilion desktop died hard on boot-up. HP replaced the drive the next day.  Used the Recovery Disks and got the unit up and running. I have been using Memeo Premium Backup and never did get any error messages during backup.  When I went to restore the data, much of it is missing or corrupt. In the Restore data on the backup drive, I can see many folders but only a few have data.  I opened a ticket with Memeo and after they made a few useless comments, they closed the ticket.
Fortunately, most of my iTunes data (folders and files) were restored in-tact.  The exceptions were the library files, which are missing. The library files in the Previous Itunes Library folder were corrupted.  I installed iTunes 10, but there are no songs, podcasts, etc, in it.  I have tried every article in the knowledgebase and tried to fix the ITL and XML files, but it is hopeless. Also, when iTunes is running, at the top it shows .iTunes Preferences.plist.  So, I have a disaster and about 10 gb of music going nowhere.  Any ideas?  I would really appreciate any help I can get.
    Brad

They are all mostly the same size at around 6MB but there are a couple that are very large 55MB (including the 30 tmp file I mentioned above.  There is also one around 7KB).  I tried renaming the most recent (as of 8:30PM last night)  tmp file as iTunes Library.itl but when I launch iTunes, I get the "The file 'iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes" popup.
But when I go into a directory I created to get the most recent itl file I've been saving as a backup and copy it into the iTunes directory to replace the one that I tried to make with the tmp file, and launch iTunes, my whole library loads with no problem.
However, if history repeats itself, this will work for at most a couple of days before I have to copy the saved itl file back into the iTunes directory.

  • Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt - message

Hi there and apologies in advance if this is a daft or very frequently asked question.
Upon trying to boot up this Toshiba mini NB200 device last night we got this message:
Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM.  it then asked me to press r at the forst screen to start a repair if I have the original set up cd.
The device had to be forced to shutdown previously as it hung when shutting down.
Now multiple reboots (including uncoupling/recoupling the battery) and resetting the settings from start up menu result in the same error message.
The device has no cd drive installed but previously Jerry Lippey (in 2011) saved the day by recommending purchase of a product recovery disc (R10804EN) after a 'flashing cursor issue' at logon.
Has anyone far more clever than I any thoughts (if we're able to borrow a portable cd drive) whether this disc may work again?
Windows XP was/is preinstalled on the PC (we havent the disc) and we've subsequently added MS Works. A total wipe of the device (as long as XP remains?) wont be too much hassle as we havent any data that we're too bothered about on it.
    Many, many thanks in advance

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
Bad news. It means the System hive, which is the most important branch of the registry, is corrupt. Unless you have made provisions for this (we always do on XP systems), the fix is too complex for you to handle (KB307545).
I'm afraid you'll need to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media as you did before. Do you have important files to rescue?

Any system or sys32 and any .dll files missing or corrupted errors, usually the only fix is to reinstall windows and anything on hard drive not saved on removable drives...flash, usb, cd or floppy is lost. I've had several sys32.dll file missing or corrupted errors and asked at Best Buy Geek Squad what the fix would cost and that's how I learned the only fix is installing windows.

  • Toshiba M45-s269 Windows won't start-missing or corrupt file

    Toshiba M45-s269 Windows xp sp3
Recently got the message upon a restart that "Windows cannot start because a file is missing or corrupt" then names the file "<Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe."
Screen show options to restart windows normally, in last known good config, safe mode, safe mode with command prompt or with networking.  All options only have the result of a 2-minute freeze-up and returning to the same screen after showing the Toshiba splash screen.
I was able to F12 at splash screen which gives the option of what to reboot from: Multiple discs, single disc, floppy or networked.  Otherwise all options have same looped result notifying cannot start due to missing/corrupt file.....
Having the factory recovery disc, I was able to select the single disc option with F12 at splash and try running a recovery from D:/.
The disc, however, says it will reload Windows 98 (the computer came with  XP Home) and wants to re-format which will blow out EVERYTHING I have on the hard drive which is NOT an option for me!
A while ago I was given a disc from a friend that has XP Professional. I have been trying to restore from that with less than expected results. Have gotten to a DOS promt and tried to COPY the file from XP Pro disc but being told cannot find the file. I'm most likely not doing something right. Don't know what destination to send it IF I'm able to copy the file anyway.
Tried to load XP Pro on hard drive but computer sees the Home version and gives the message that loading 2 OS's is not recommended. Was hoping that XP Pro would simply over-write Home.
Any help appreciated.  Thanks in advance,
    Rob

    Hi
Setup CD is not delivered with your notebook, just recovery CD and recovery CD does not offer repair option.
Try to obtain Microsoft Installations CD. Talk with your friends. I am pretty sure someone has this WXP installations CD. Check if you can do something using R option.

  • Unable to read file. may be in use missing or corrupt

I'm trying to transfer my music from Zen Micro to pc. Some music transfered but most didn't. When I try to transfer I get that message " Unable to read file, may be in use missing or corrupted. Did the disc cleanup for zen also. Any help would be great.

Agapyla, two possible reasons you can't see the .idlk files. One, you're looking in the wrong place, or two, your OS doesn't consider .idlk files to be "system files."
Option 1: In InCopy or InDesign, click inside the story you're locked out of, and open the Links panel. That story will be highlighted. Right-click on the highlighted story and choose Reveal in Finder (or Reveal in Explorer if you're on Windows).  That will bring you to the folder where the InCopy story (ICML) is. It is inside that same folder where you'll find the IDLK file.  A story's IDLK file is always at the same level as its ICML file. It might be at the top or bottom of the list of files in that folder if you're viewing them as a list sorted alphabetically. So scroll through.
Option 2: See if there's a setting in your OS to view "invisible" files, or Google for a utility.  I think "system" and "invisible" are the same, but maybe not.  Personally I use my FTP program which lets you see your local hard drive on one side of the window and the remote server on the other side. The FTP program defaults to showing *all* files on both sides. So for me it's a quickie way to see the IDLK files. The IDLK files begin with characters that force the OS to not show them, like a period or a tilde.
Honestly, if you're seeing a slash through a pencil icon, that file is locked, so there's an IDLK file somewhere. That's the only way ID or IC will show that icon.
In case of emergency: In InDesign (can't do this in InCopy), select the locked story and Unlink it in the Links panel from the Links panel menu. It breaks the link to the original ICML file an turns it back into a normal InDesign text frame. Then select the frame, and export it to InCopy format again *with a different filename* than before, but saves it to the same place as the other ICML stories for that layout.
