Qosmio F50-10M: how to deactivate touchpad?

Hello guys,
usually I use a USB driven mouse to operate Win7. While writing text I often get in contact with the touch pad unwanted.
As I cannot identify the appropriate device within the hardware manager I am not able to deactive the touchpad while using the mouse.
There a lot of HID (Human Interface Devices) without a unique identifier.
How can I deactivate the touch pad or is there a way of deactivating automatically while plugging the USB mouse?
Thank you for your help!
Yours,
Starmind

Dear Xardas,
thank your for your answer.
Unfortunately, there is no Synaptics driver shown in control panel which could be removed. How can I do this?
The only driver recognized by the system seems to be the Alps Electric driver.
Did you test using the VAP from the Satellite L500 on a Qosmio F50? Checking downloads on that model there pops up a lot of different types (of that model), for example L500-ST2521, L500-ST2522 and so forth. What version could work proper for my Qosmio F50-10M?
Checking possible downloads for TVAP and Windows7 64bit there are six different downloads offered. For instance there two different download links for version v1.2.27_64 same size of file named "Toshiba Value Added Package for Windows 7/Vista (64).
Then there is
"Toshiba Value Added Package for Windows 7 (64) v1.2.26_64;10-07-2009"
Which are the differences of those files?
Couldnt I install one of those files? If so what file should I choose?
Your help and your answer is highly appreciated.
Yours,
Starmind_1

  • Qosmio F50-125 - How to use TV-FM Tuner in Windows 7

    Hello,
I am using Qosmio F50-125 and I just upgraded to Windows 7.
I just now found out that I have a TV tuner on my notebook and I dont know how to use it.
First I dont have drivers for my TV tuner and tried to download something like TV-tuner driver v.2.3.3.31 from the toshiba website, but there is not a typical setup.exe but just some files inside.
If you could tell me a bit more about how to use my TV option and how to install the proper drivers I would be truly grateful.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi mate,
Friend of me has also Qosmio F50 with TV Tuner and Windows 7 now. As far as I know the posted instructions from the other users are correct.
First you have to extract all files. Then go in device manager and right click on the TV card (I think its marked with yellow exclamation mark). If you right click choose Update Driver and in next windows choose the advanced installation (second point). Now you have to choose the driver directory yourself and navigate to the folder where you have extracted the files. Click on OK, Next, etc. and the driver should be installed properly.
Maybe you to restart the notebook but this shouldnt be a problem! ;)
If you have more questions, please let us know! If you need more assistance I can ask my friend again for further details.

  • Qosmio F50-10K - How to get Vista 64Bit from Toshiba

    Hello,
Few days ago I bought Qosmio F50-10K but with Vista Ultimate 32 Bit.
    It doesn't satisfy me
Does anybody know, how can I get Vista Ultimate 64 Bit from Toshiba?
This version was developed for Poland, but in this country there is no Representative Offices or something like this. There are only distributors or shops which import laptops from foreign distributors.

Isnt it funny that some notebooks from different manufacturers are not equipped with any Operating Systems?
You got a Vista 32bit of course it would be better if everyone could choose the OS which is the best for everyone but fact is that computer manufacturers sell the own products with the most popular OS and 32bit is more popular as 64bit OS due to compatibility with other 3rd party software.
    Bye

  • Qosmio F50-10M - Difference between 32bit and 64bit BIOS

    Hello,
I use WindowsVISTA-32bit SP2, and my BIOS is up to date (2.0 32bit I suppose). What are the differences between 32 oder 64 bit version of the BIOS? What would happen if I flash fw of BIOS to 64bit altough using VISTA32 and vice versa?
I think about changing to a 64bit system (propably Win7 Ultimate OEM or LINUX), does it make sense changing?
    Thank you guys in advance!
    Yours,
    Stamind_1

    > But what would happen if I change my OS from 32 to 64bit without updating the BIOS, or if I change back from 64 to 32 after updating BIOS to 64bit? Do I have to expect difficulties/errors?
Nobody would be able to say what would happen!
Usually you should not notice any serious hardware problems but possibly the notebooks parts like cooling modules, WLan, or other functions like multimedia control buttons would not work as it should.
If there is no other BIOS then you have to use the one which is available on the Toshiba European driver page if there are more BIOS versions for different operating systems then you have to use the one which has been designed for the certain Windows OS.

  • Not possible to install printer on Qosmio F50

    I have a Qosmio F50-10M, running on Vista 32-bit SP2.
I have tried several times to install a new printer HP Laserjet 200 color MFP276nw without success. The error text is not specific...
According to the installation software, I should contact my system provider's support.
    Well, here I am...
Does anybody has any ideas, how to install this printer on my system?
    kind regards,
    kai

Let be honest with this issue. If your notebook runs well and OS is stabile why notebook manufacturer should be responsible if there is some problem with third part software installation?
In my opinion you should contact printer manufacturer software and ask why you cannot install their software on well working Windows system. I use HP Envy 120 with my machine and I had no problems at all (Win7 64bit).

  • Qosmio F50 - Need to update BIOS in order of installing Win7-64bit

    Dear community,
I plan to update to Windows 7 64 bit. My notebook is Toshiba Qosmio F50-10M with a preinstalled VISTA32bit.
Is there a need to update the BIOS prior installing the new OS? I read that there is a BIOS update f?¼r VISTA64bit available but none I discovered for Win7 64bit.
    Can you give a clue?
I am confident and glad to own such a powerful notebook but this not completed OS named VISTA is driving me nuts increasingly reading all those nice reports concerning the benefits of Windows7!
Eager to read your welcomed responses
    Yours,
    Starmind

    Thank you for anwering Paolo!
Do I understand the right way? I shouldn´t change BIOS if I don´t encounter any problems?
But I should change the BIOS from 32 to 64 bit if I install the 64bit version of Win7? I intend to do so as I plan to use the full memory of my machine (I use VISTA32 at the moment).
I should change the BIOS prior installing Win7 as I understood as posted earlier?
Thank your for your kind assistance!

  • Qosmio F50 - How to recover from hdd?

    Hello,
I got a very big problem.
I made some changes with my Vista regs and then I was unable to start it up again.
So, I started recovery program (second HDD), backed-up my files and selected whole HDD recovery.
Well, now problem - everything looked fine, but when I got into Vista set-up I had to shut the computer down.
Now, when I start the pc and load Vista I get message that I should reinstall my computer again.
Well, but they say nothing about how to load recovery file, because I get no option to do that - only Emergency mode, Emergency with network support, etc. but no recovery. By the way, when I select Emergency mode, I cannot load Vista either - it says that I have to run configuration in normal mode, which says to re-install. Yep, -_- circle.
    Model: Qosmio F50
Do u think that when I delete whole Vista disk manually - e.g. with linux and then start the computer up, I get option to load second part of the disk to start installation?
Thanks in advance since I am really despair

There has NEVER been an option to use F8 (or when am I supposed to push F8?). I could always enter recovery mode ONLY when Windows did not load successfully (in the past I could not start emergency mode). I guess I do not have to order it since I started ubuntu, and copied entier HDDRecovery folder onto my external drive, so I guess I gotta buy DVD which has ~6GB and burn content of the folder (not folder itself?). and then it will boot from the DVD? (like windows when u install it).
By the way, I guess there is no way to start recovery from ext. hdd (yea a silly bios).
I know I should back it up myself, but Toshiba could give one cd with the notebook. However, it is probably their policy. How many people burn recovery? well, they need to make some money ....
If you have any other recommandations, please let me know :)

  • Qosmio F50 - How do I bring the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys to work on Windows XP?

    Hello.
I downgraded my Qosmio F50-137 to XP, found every driver needed for hardware recognition, but am still looking for the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys to work.
I know (or at least think) that I have to install the "Toshiba Hotkey Utility".
But this utility needs the "Toshiba common module" for Windows XP to be installed.
I fond on the web two common modules for Windows XP:
    common_modules_2489A
    and
    common_modules_24895A
The first one says "This software utility does not support this system.Installation will be terminated"
The second one says "TVALZ driver installation has failed"
How can I make the installation work properly? or How can I make the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys work on my F-50 ?
    Thank you in advance

Ok sorry for not answering the questions but I have to find a webpage to answer a few things...
    {quote:title=I said:}I've found the XP drivers of other components for my computer on the Toshiba European driver page {quote}
But I'm not sure it was there, since going there and trying to find the page again drove me to the normal driver page.
I'm asking your help me finding the page where:
    - You choose your computer in a column by type and then the next column apperar (on it's right), until you have selected your computer, and a button "choose now" appear.
    - When you click this last button, you land in a page where you have more drivers than in the normal driver page of toshiba (for me I had the option of Windows XP, while I don't have it on the normal page)
    - I'm preety sure it was on the toshiba-website, but I don't remember how to find this page again... And since I already formatted...
I'll continue looking if I can find it again, if someone knows this page, please tell me/us...
    thank you in advance.

  • Qosmio F50-10Z Bios update crashed - how do I reset cmos?

I have a Qosmio F50-10Z and as prompted by toshiba I downloaded the Bios update and began to install.
My screensaver came on and the whole thing crashed.
Would not turn off (even after holding down power button for 15 secs).
Took battery out and then put it back in. Computer powers on but screen is blank and won't boot up.
Tried to take it apart to flash the bios by taking out rtc/cmos battery (whatever it's called) but can't find the battery and got to the point where I wasn't willing to take it apart any further (has no-one else ever taken one apart?
Couldn't find information or diagram or photo of where the battery was on net...manual for laptop really unhelpful)
Have found comments about crisis disks but I don't know what this means.
So, how to I reset bios?
Please help - you are my only hope.

Thanks for your comments. Do you know where I can download a Bios flasher or Bios recovery crisis disk from? There seem to be a lot floating around forums but I cannot find anything specifically for my laptop. Am I missing something on the Toshiba website? I have seen people mention downloading a bios flash utility from toshiba (specifically for the F45) but can't figure out where they are getting this from...
In response to your recommendation - I know that is what I am encouraged to do but I'm in the UK - my nearest Toshiba recommended technicians are PC world conglomerate - the sort of guys who pat me on the head when I ask for specific RAM (rather than 'some memory, please'), look blankly at you when you say the word Bios, and bang their mouse when the computer freezes! Besides, they want 50 up front whether or not they manage to fix it, and given how many of my friends computers they have failed to fix that my boyfriend then fixed in ten minutes, I might as well burn my money as send it to them.

  • Qosmio F50: How can I install Vista business

    hello!
I recently bought qosmio f50 and it came with vista home edition..
I need to install Vista business.
    How can i do that?
    Do i need to format?
Then how can i install back all the utilities and drivers that it came with?
Will i have problems with my laptop if i do that?
    Message was edited by: xaralas

    Hi
The Vista installation is not tricky.
Just put the Vista disk into the ODD and then boot from the disk.
    The installation will start automatically.
But this will format your HDD and you will lose your installed Win XP and other files.
    > how can i install back all the utilities and drivers that it came with?
I assume youve got a Toshiba recovery disk.
If you want to get back the OS installed by Toshiba then you should use the Toshiba recovery disk for recovering.
PS: what Qosmio F do you have exactly? I ask it because F 108 is not known to me

  • How to Upgrade Qosmio F50 with SSD-drive

I want to upgrade my Toshiba F-50 with an SSD-Drive 80 GB (Intel).
Can anyone recommend an SSD drive, I would like to use Intel 80 GB.
Do I need any Firmware Upgrade or Upgrade for VISTA ?
    Thanks for help

    Hi
Since Qosmio F50 support an SATA HDD controller you should use an SSD drive which supports an SATA interface
But the SSD drive is not many different from a common HDD and therefore it should not be needed to update any firmware.
Usually you would need to install just an SATA driver in order to recognize the SSD drive.

  • Some help for a Qosmio F50 and Win 8 is needed

    Hello,
I have an old Qosmio F50 and since it still has enough power to handle Windows 8 I decided to give it a try. What I did is a clean install of WIN 8 pro x64 and I used a mix of drivers from various Toshiba models and third parties. The results weren't bad since everything is working except for a little weird thing.
    Specifically I used:
    - Chipset drivers V,9.4.0.1022 straight from Intel.
    - Toshiba's high definition processor driver v,1.0.2.71
    - Enecir drivers v. 2.7.4.1
    - Realtek High definition audio drivers R271
    - Bluetooth stack v 8.00.12(T)
    - Nvidia VGA drivers 320.49
    - ALPS V8.x0.303.206 drivers for the touchpad
    - Camera assistant software v 1.7.260.0526L (a bit unstable and the settings reset every now and then, but still functional. The newer camera application couldn't handle the old Chicony)
    - Everything else that was provided by Windows Update.
    And finally I used:
Toshiba function key 1.00.6626.06, Flash cards 1.51.8.2C (the b version).and SpecApp.exe (aka button support) v.1.3.3.64
The only problem I have is with the media touch-buttons. While they work as they should and I can remap them with the SpecApp.exe just fine, they do a crazy thing:
Sometimes together with the correct function the button will also open windows calculator which is pretty annoying. I tried many things including searching in the registry, but I couldn't find out how to solve this, so if anyone could help it would be great.
Other than this malfunction, everything else works just perfect including all the FN keys.
Thank you for reading and if you have any idea I'm all ears.

I guess you will not get an original Windows 8 driver to get the multimedia working in connection with the Windows 8 system because the Windows 8 isnt officially supported on Qosmio F50.
But as you got it working using the packages released for other Toshiba notebooks, I guess that the crazy button actions are related to the SpecApp.exe since this small app has been used in order to remap the buttons.
So probably you should remove this from the system and should use just an Toshiba Value Added Package released for other Toshiba series.
    This is my personal opinion...

  • Qosmio F50-10G - Windows Vista 64-bit and drivers

I've been using Qosmio F50-10g for bout 20 days now.
It has 32 bit operating system on and i think there is no 64 bit driver support yet.
If i am not wrong x305 series have 64 bit driver support and the configuration of two laptops are similar.
I was hoping to create a 64 bit back-up Dvd but it does not exist on 64 bit if i am not wrong on my pc.
So any suggestions regarding how to use 64 bit drivers on these computers ?
Or do i just have to wait for Toshiba to publish the 64 bit drivers?
    Thx.

    Hi
It seems that at this time only the BIOS and the BT stack was released for the Vista 64bit OS.
But Im sure the other Vista 64bit drivers will be released in the next time.
So I would recommend waiting till the 64bit drivers are online!!!
