Qosmio F50 - Freezes when online

Haven't worked out exactly how or why but my Qosmio F50-12W running Vista, randomly freezes when I am on line, on my ZTE MF622 Mobile Broadband Device.
I see quite a bit about Vista freezing on Google, but none of it makes sense or solves the problem. This is very annoying as it can happen unexpectedly and at any time.
I've tweaked the registry, cleaned up and defragged the hard drive.
I look forward to your replies
john

Hi
Does this happen only with this Broadband Modem or with internal WLAN/LAN connection too?
I have Qosmio F50 too but I only use WLAN and LAN connection to connect to Internet. Both is working pretty well and I dont have any problems with this fantastic notebook. Also Windows 7 is running properly on it.
Anyway, make sure that you have installed the newest driver for this modem and contact the manufacture of it. Maybe its not compatible with the notebook or the software isnt running on Vista

  • Mac Freezes When Online

Sometimes when I am online (either safari or firefox), especially on websites like myspace, my macbook will just freeze up and stop "listening." I have tried the patient approach by waiting in hopes that my computer will stop being "busy," but it will stay frozen for hours. The only method I have found to unfreeze my mac is to hold down the power button until it shuts itself down. This happens almost daily and it has become quite a nuisance. Viruses? Something wrong with my computer?
I have no idea why it does this, or how to solve it, and would really appreciate any suggestions that anyone may have.
    Thanks!

Haridoss, Thank you for your response.
    1. I have a Mac Book: OS X 10.8.3 (12D78).
    2. The computer freezes up permantly.
    3. It happens when I try to insert any questions slides.  I am new to Captivate, so I don't know if it is something that I am doing when I set up the quiz preferences or not.
    4.  I haven't had any problems with inserting in other slides, other than the question slides.
Thank you again for your helpl

  • Qosmio F60 freezing when moved

My Qosmio model F60, purchased around January 2011 recently started having some trouble. Whenever I move it, the screen freezes, and I am unable to input any commands. Sometimes it needs to move quite a bit, other times it seems like a light jostling is enough. A few seconds after it freezes the fan always starts to whirr loudly. The computer temerature never seems extreme when this happens.
I am assuming this is somehow a hardware issue, but the only things I have done recently is that I got a new battery a few months back, and at the same time cleaned out the fan vents with a can of compressed air purchased from a local computer shop.
I should note that the laptop does not always recognize the new battery as present, although will run off of it anyways, but I assume that's because I bought it off-brand.

That does sound hardware related, but I'm not sure what would cause it. You might want to have it professionally serviced.

  • Freezes when online

my macbook is about 4 years old.  just this past week every so often when i am on the internet using firefox with several tabs open i get the spinning beachball of death and computer won't respond to anything.  i checked my running processes and have plenty of memory and nothing slowing it down.  is my hard drive going?

Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.  You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them. Disk Utility's Disk Repair is not perfect and may not find or repair all directory issues. A stronger utility may be required to finish the job.  After that Repair Permissions. No need to report Permissions errors....we all get them.

  • Qosmio F50 - Up arrow signal when HDMI cable connected

    Hello,
I've been able to connect my laptop to my LCD TV (LG LH4000) through HDMI but every 3~5 seconds it seems to receive a signal from the up arrow.
Let's say I'm browsing some files in the windows explorer and it goes up one file, just as if someone pressed the up arrow.
This only happens when its connected using HDMI. As soon as i unplug the cable, it stops doing it.
I've tried to search for similar problems, but no luck.
    Thanks for your help

  • Re: Qosmio F50-126 - Freezes when on battery power

    *hey everyone*
I bought my Qosmio F50-126 couple of months ago with 3 year international warranty. There is something about the notebook which really irritates me--- *THE FREEEZEE*.
I have noticed that when I am watching a video on any player and any format, the whole computer freeezess *for 1 or 3 seconds and resumes* by itself *But the interesting thing is that it ONLY happens when running on battery*. It runns like a dream when running on ac with battery being charged. *IT INCREDIBLY annoying*
When your into the movie and lights are off and your in ur comfly warm bed. The WHOLE computer freezes with the audio jittering. It only happens for 1 or 2 seconds but it occurance is *COMPLETLY RANDOM.* If the laptop is in the mood of watching the movie it only freezes 2 or 3 times but sometimes it just get on my nerve.
I disabled my kaspersky and other random process runing. Please help me!
*Just for the note: It only happens the freeze only happens when running on battery*. Oh- hope this help
I notices that my HDD light on the notebook doesnt blink that often when on battery and playing the video so its not the load time the reason... also...SAME RESULT WHEN I RUN ON HIGH PERFORMACE, BALANCED or power saver---actually powersaver is *_THE WORST.... BYE... PLESE HELP ME OR MY LIFE IS DOOM_*

hey-- i'm amazed with the quick reply.. thank you.. okay back to the notebook
Yes, i did install nvidia driver from there website, 9700M GTS driver. The lastest one there is. You are correct about the heating problem but i believe its with all the qosmio because after reading a thread on it about the GPU temperature, i think it normal which it shouldnt be. Like, when doing normal work, the gpu temps hovers around 60 C but when playing game,, max it reached was 105 C when ruinnin the game at max performancel. Forexample, farcry 2 when on ultra high runs smooth with the gpu temp around 101 but when everythikng low,, back to 'normal' temp 60. But the gpu temp isnt mine concern. My concern is the freeze. So you mentioned about Toshiba Display Driver and i will give it a test and see if makes any differnce. I hope it does but i'm afraid it might downgrade my graphic power frame rates but i will still give it a go and see if it makes any diference. Also, sometimes, my display driver stops working, the nvidia website downloaded driver.
And final answer to the second post,,, umm..i dont remember,, its just these few days its getting on my nerve and decided to post a thread on the internet.
hope this helppp... so..im goin to toshiba driver and download the display driver and see if that make a differnce.i hope it does..
bytheway... only thing i dont understand is why doesnt it freeze my runin on ac?

  • When the Qosmio F50 will be released?

I've been waiting for the new Qosmio F50 for ages - all information from Toshiba seemed to indicate it should already be out, but it can't be found anywhere - and neither can any other info!
The X300 (which appeared in all the launch adverts along with the F50 and G50) now seems to be available.
But there is now news, no reviews or anything on the F50.
Has anybody heard why it has been delayed, or when it might be available (I'm in the UK)?
    Thanks in advance!

You're right - a couple of internet shops seem to have it available (eg Overclockers) but no retail shops have it in stock - and I'd really like to get a look and feel of it before I buy.
And even the online availability is a recent thing - Overclockers were still taking pre-orders last week.
Plus there are no reviews, only the early preview pieces from July.
Anyone know if the likes of PCWorld, Currys, John Lewis etc are going to get them in stock so I can have a look before I buy?
    Thanks!

  • Qosmio F50-10Z Bios update crashed - how do I reset cmos?

I have a Qosmio F50-10Z and as prompted by toshiba I downloaded the Bios update and began to install.
My screensaver came on and the whole thing crashed.
Would not turn off (even after holding down power button for 15 secs).
Took battery out and then put it back in. Computer powers on but screen is blank and won't boot up.
Tried to take it apart to flash the bios by taking out rtc/cmos battery (whatever it's called) but can't find the battery and got to the point where I wasn't willing to take it apart any further (has no-one else ever taken one apart?
Couldn't find information or diagram or photo of where the battery was on net...manual for laptop really unhelpful)
Have found comments about crisis disks but I don't know what this means.
So, how to I reset bios?
Please help - you are my only hope.

Thanks for your comments. Do you know where I can download a Bios flasher or Bios recovery crisis disk from? There seem to be a lot floating around forums but I cannot find anything specifically for my laptop. Am I missing something on the Toshiba website? I have seen people mention downloading a bios flash utility from toshiba (specifically for the F45) but can't figure out where they are getting this from...
In response to your recommendation - I know that is what I am encouraged to do but I'm in the UK - my nearest Toshiba recommended technicians are PC world conglomerate - the sort of guys who pat me on the head when I ask for specific RAM (rather than 'some memory, please'), look blankly at you when you say the word Bios, and bang their mouse when the computer freezes! Besides, they want 50 up front whether or not they manage to fix it, and given how many of my friends computers they have failed to fix that my boyfriend then fixed in ten minutes, I might as well burn my money as send it to them.

  • IBM T-42 Freezes when I try to DL or Play Video...when I have 3 windows open

I have 4 IBM T series laptops, 3 T-40's and ONE T-42...The issue I have is with the T-42 ..2379RFU , it randomly freezes and from studying the problem I find it is for instance when using IE and I select to DL some software ..there is 2 windows that pop up on top of each other immediately...in addition the the original window I use to browse to find the DL...One window says ofcourse ...RUN...SAVE...or Cancel I believe...can't remember what the window under it says but as soon as these windows pop up the computer freezes...and I can't do ANYTHING...CTRL-ALT-DELETE or anything else...all I can do is press the power button to do a hard shutdown of my system...Then do a restart...NOW when using Firefox I can DL...but it STILL freezes when I watch certain videos online...In addition it freezes when trying to use Windows Live Mail...It's like when a certain amount of memory is used it freezes the puter ...and I've watched the performance using the Task Manager when this happens and EVERYTHING freezes and CPU usage goes to 100%...but it also does on my other laptops but they don't freeze up...SOOOOOoo this is what I've done so far...I've ran diagnostics on as much as I know how to...and everything is fine...I've swapped the hardrive with one of the other laptops I have and still the same thing...I've swapped all the memory, swapped the wireless card and still the same thing...I changed the Modem...lol...still the same thing...The T-42 doesn't seem real HOT and the fan works fine, I pushed EVERYTHING and move the puter when it freezes and still nothing...Swapped the keyboard even...thinking about swapping the Navigation pad and buttons with one of the other puters but haven't yet...I've done every update I can possibly find, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, IE, Firefox, Disabled my Anti-Virus and Firewall, uninstalled drivers and re-installed, Disabled the Hardware acceleration...Updated the BIOS and checked for other updates...and STILL the same result...I have NEVER had a problem with ANY of my other T-series latops...and the only thing I can see that is different from the T-40 and the T-42 in terms of general visionary stuff is one has an ATI Mobility RADEON 7500 Monitor and the other has a ATI Mobility RADEON 9000 for a monitor....Most everything else as far as Drivers and updates are the same...And I'm running XP Professional on all of the laptops, so I figure it's a hardware problem...since I swapped out the HD's with the same result...This T-42 works great for an old cheap laptop and I can't afford a NEW one NOW...That's why I have these...I have like $200 in all 4 laptops because they are OLD but work prefectly except for this ONE...1.8 ghz processor, 60 gb HD, I gb memory which is fine for what I need in a laptop I have desktops for everything else I do.....anyone have any ideas?...

    Hey.
Since you seem to have tried mostly everything, apart from exchanging the motherboard, I'd say you have at least one option left, and that's to reinstall Windows from the recovery partition / recovery discs. That might solve the problem, if this is due to a software-error. General updates etc. might not work to fix such problems, but a clean install should.
If that doesn't help, I'd say the problem is somewhere either with the CPU or the motherboard, maybe bad connections or some sort of malfunction that prevents the computer from coming out of the 100% CPU usage.

  • Qosmio F50-10G - Windows Vista 64-bit and drivers

I've been using Qosmio F50-10g for bout 20 days now.
It has 32 bit operating system on and i think there is no 64 bit driver support yet.
If i am not wrong x305 series have 64 bit driver support and the configuration of two laptops are similar.
I was hoping to create a 64 bit back-up Dvd but it does not exist on 64 bit if i am not wrong on my pc.
So any suggestions regarding how to use 64 bit drivers on these computers ?
Or do i just have to wait for Toshiba to publish the 64 bit drivers?
    Thx.

    Hi
It seems that at this time only the BIOS and the BT stack was released for the Vista 64bit OS.
But Im sure the other Vista 64bit drivers will be released in the next time.
So I would recommend waiting till the 64bit drivers are online!!!

  • IMac (Late 2009) starting freezing when in full screen

Just yesterday (and today) my iMac starting freezing when watching videos (online) in full screen. It happened on YouTube, and other websites with Flash video.
The video would stop playing (i could still hear audio - atleast for a second or two) and it would go all pixally.
Here's what it did when attempting to play Diablo 3:
On the YouTube videos, I would get blue squares.
Then when I'd restart, It would do this:
    Then do this:
It would do that a few times, until I left the computer off for like 10 minutes, then it comes back ok.
It's not my hard drive (I don't think) even though I'm eligible for the Seagate 1TB Replacement Program - I haven't done it yet. Apple Store wanted to keep my computer for 5 days to replace it and I didn't want to leave it for that long...
Anyway, I don't think it's that because I used SuperDuper to create a bootable backup on my Seagate 500GB USB2 external HD and set that as my startup disk - and it happened on that one too.
I don't know what to do now, please help. I'm not ready to buy a whole new computer right now. :-(
    Thanks,
    Dave

The graphic card of your Mac is damaged. This happened to me with my Late 2009 21'5-inch iMac, too. I recommend you to make a backup as soon as possible (soon your Mac will be unusable), and take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller.
At first, the repair time for the iMac 1 TB replacement program was about 6 days, but now it has decreased a lot, so I recommend to get the hard drive and the graphic card repaired at the same time and you will save time. As you are going to have the hard drive replaced, make a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper; this will make the restore easier
