Qosmio F60-111 - HDD replacement
I have an F60-111 and it had a terrible hard disk problem several months ago, it wasn't even a year old and was already lagging and crashing all of the time. I have 3 years international warranty for it, so I sent the laptop back to Saudi Arabia and had the hard disk replaced in January, I just received it now, but I'm disappointed. The laptop works fine sure, but the replacement hard disk was only 100GB which is a big downgrade from it's original capacity of 600GB.
My problem is my laptop was repaired but it was replaced with a lower capacity hard disk. I feel cheated, am I entitled for compensation? Thank you.
I cannot possibly contact the company who took my laptop for repairs under warranty, which is Redington Arabia. I'm half way across the world right now, Philippines, and I don't know what to do with this laptop. The people who I asked to handle my stuff at Saudi didn't even bothered to check the system specs before sending it back to me here, and shipping the item cost a lot. Only now that I learned that my hard disk was replaced with one of a lower capacity, it's really frustrating. I don't know what to do.

I have a Qosmio F60-111 6-months ago and i have a problem with the hard drive.
The computer expert say my computer has a sensitive hard drive, even just a weak vibration may destroy or damage my hard drive.
My hard drive now is damage because of that sensitivity.
Is it true that the hard drive of toshiba qosmio is easy to be damage?
If it is true, can i able to ship it from one place to another with out damaging my hard drive?Hi mate
I dont know if the HDD of the Qosmio can be damage easily
As far as I know the notebook was equipped with a common 640GB (5400RPM) SATA HDD and such HDD is used in many different notebooks from different notebook manufacturers.
But the notebook supports the new Toshiba future called TOSHIBA HDD Protection (3D sensor) and this sensor stops the HDD head moving if the notebook would be moved or shacked so this future protect the HDD and helps to save the HDD life
But you should know that HDD is a part which will die, sooner or later this has nothing to do with the notebook or notebook manufacturer but with the HDD usage
I had many computers and notebooks in the past and three of my HDD died after some time of usage
So if the warranty is still valid, then you can replace the HDD free of charge but if the warranty is not valid anymore then you have to pay for the replacement

Qosmio F60-111 was delivered without any recovery disks
Dear Support Team,
Yesterday 31/07/2010 , i went to Toshiba distributer in KSA and i bought Qosmio F60-111, From Jarir Book Store.
When i arrived home, i found that the package don't have the Recovery disks, or the Operating system.
So please i want to know is this the deal?
To buy this powerful laptop and to be surprised that it don't have a recovery disks ?
I've checked the package so many times and i couldn't find any disk!
Please let me know if this is normal or i dunno.
I feel i am scammed :S
Anis.Hi,
> but still my question is not answered!
> is it normal that the F60-111 Qosmio comes without recovery disks?
Yes, it is normal. I bought my laptop without a recovery disk, too. If you read product specifaction, you will find that your lap comes Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery) You should burn recovery disk yourself

I talking about (Starcraft 2) it was working perfectly before but new the sound lag badly that i disable the music and scape the cinematic part to play it.
>While gaming, do you use your notebook with high performance power plan?
Yes I use it.
By the way: sending DX info is OK but Im 100% sure nobody here will read this. I hope someone read it.
@ Xardas,
I try all the things you just say, and sadly it doesn't work. I have the last display and sound driver and last DirectX, I use the high performance power plan while gaming.
I try Disable AntiVirus/Firewall while gaming but it the same it doesn't work.
thanks. -
Dear all
I have a strange problem with my laptop HDMI port. I've searched a lot, read the user manual, tried every solution available online and yet was not able to solve the problem.
I connected the HDMI cable between the laptop and LG LCD screen while both are turned on. It was not working giving me a ''no signal'', then I tried to the manual and used the hotkey 'FN+F5' but only found the LCD of the laptop, then I turned the laptop off and check the BIOS but still no change.
However when I turned the laptop off while turning on the TV screen, the display was on the TV for the first starting process meaning when showing the Qosmio sign and the signal of starting windows and then the display turns back to the laptop screen and the TV screen gives me the sign of no signal.
I also removed the driver and used the last one from Toshiba driver support site but still the same error happens, I also tried to check the nvidia control panel--> display---->set multiple screen-------> rigorous display detection still no change.
Ive also checked the HDMI control but didn't found anything un usual all marked with on. I also connected the HDMI with my other laptop DELL and it worked right away so I know there is nothing wrong with cable or TV setting and channel selection.
Please supportHi
Not quite sure whats wrong here but I think you should firstly go to BIOS and should set it to default (F9). Save the changes and reboot the unit.
Additionally you can remove the battery and Ac adaptor for a while and should press and hold the power button 30 sec long. Then connect both parts and power up the unit.
I think notebooks HDMI port is OK because the Qosmio splash screen was visible on the TV. So possibly its just an system (Windows) issue.
You are right, the FN + F5 switches between the internal and external display so the usage of this key combination should enable the screen on LG TV.
Try also to set the sound to HDMI as default. To set the audio device for using HDMI, follow the steps bellow:
1. Click Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Hardware and Sound
5. Sound /Digital Output Device (HDMI)
6. Click the Set Default Button
If you will not be able to enable the HDMI, i recommend system recovery -
Qosmio F60 PQF65A-00Y002 Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
After installing Windows SP1 I had a number of problems. I can't see how they were directly related but maybe some indirect effect. One of them is that suddenly I have a few very agreessively bad sectors on my HDD. A surprise as before SP1 the computer was all fantastic and reliable. However, after the fateful SP1 install I had immediately difficulties with the computer slowing down, the index corrupting etc. Chkdsk /R hangs up in the 4th part. I bought Spinrite and it found two locations on the disk which it cannot recover even after running it for several days and then repeating. The problem for me is that I had no good system image - my last backup failed and I did not get around to repeating it and now Windows backup system image fails and also third party backup stuff like EASEUS Todo Backup fails. I want to get a system image and then be able to replace the HDD. Is there any Toshiba tool for this model to help mark those sectors as bad so that the computer ignores them when doing a system image backup?Qosmio F60/00Y (PQF65A-00Y002)

My F60 Qosmio HDD has failed due to owner abuse.....it has the following info and looking for guidance for a Toshiba replacement HDD:
MK6465GSX HDD2H81 B UL02B
Need to know what variants on the HDD2H81 B & UL02 B numbers can be used....??
There seems to be S, T etc etc of each number which I know nothing...
ThanksHDD replacement is not big deal. What you need is compatible SATA HDD that you can get in every computer store.
How to replace HDD on Qosmio F60 you can see here .
One more thing: you can use new SSD. I have upgraded my P500 and it is simply amazing how fast my notebook is. -
Qosmio G10-100 - failure afer HDD replacement with larger HDD
Following a HDD failure in a Qosmio G10-100, I replaced the current IDE 80GB HD with a 160GB IDE drive. After running the recovery DVD, new HDD was formatted and the software successfully installed (subsequently proved by removing the drive and treating as an exterrnal HDD on another PC).
However, on booting up, the machine recognised that this was a different hard drive and would not let me proceed beyond the screen that offered alternatives (Safe Mode, etc), neither of which would allow me access.
Any advise greatfully receivedMany thanks for looking at this issue Paulo30 and Syntax. To answer your questions:
a) I have installed the Windows OS using the Toshia recovery disc on the new 160GB HDD
b) I have now repeated the procedure twice following the failure of the PC to successfully start up
c) What appears to be the correct file structure and files have been written to the drive (confirmed by removing the HDD and looking at its contents on another PC)
d) I also repeated the procedure using the original 80 GB HDD and still no joy
e) I get an error message that begins with the following:
' We apologise for the inconvenience but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this'
f) The 80GB HDD was a replacement installed by Toshiba under warranty when the original drive failed and the operating system was installed on this new drive by them but not using my recovery DVDs
What I think I understand from the above is that because the hardware configutation is not exactly the same as when first installed at the factory (HDD in this case has changed) at the time my Toshiba recovery disc was created, this has caused a glitch with the recovery procedure.
I am sure that I am not the first person to be in this position and wonder if there is a simple solution
Many thanks

Re: Qosmio F60/05M - PXE-E61 media test failure and harddisk failure
Hi
My problem is the computer freezes often and has issues with windows explorer. Also it will freeze when in games. I don't know if the issues are related but after freezing when it starts to reboot it will come up with a black screen reading;
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
When I press anything it just comes up with the same message. If I turn the notebook off by the power button and give it some time before turning it on it gives me the option to start windows in safemode or normal if I choose safemode it doesn't start. Also when I run the toshiba PC diagnostic tool the harddisk fails the test. It doesn't give me any explanation.
This problem has occurred a number of times over the last couple of weeks.
The model is:
Qosmio F60/05M PQF65A-05M02W
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
MickHi mick,
> Also when I run the toshiba PC diagnostic tool the harddisk fails the test.
This would be also my personal opinion that something is wrong with HDD itself I mean if the computer try to boot it access the internal HDD and start Windows but if the computer cant find the internal HDD it tries to boot from LAN
I think you should contact an authorized service provider in your country. The guys should check your HDD and replace it if it necessary.
Furthermore backup all your data if you didnt do this as yet. Therefore you can use an external USB HDD. -

Then I go to the windows bar and after that pressing on mute button to be in silent mode and pressing the same button again then the sound appear.

That simple:
Either you will use the HDD recovery or you will use the Recovery disk this disk should be created using the preinstalled software Toshiba recover disk creator.

Thats a problem from my knowledge the ASP would test the notebook with factory settings and if the issue would not appear using factory settings then this would mean that the hardware is ok -
Qosmio F60-00Y slow/laggish
Hello,
I've got a Qosmio F60-00Y notebook which is generally very fast but yesterday night at around 10:30-11:00 PM (16th September Australian Eastern Standard Time) I noticed that it was lagging - scrolling on Firefox was 'delayed' rather than smooth, so I'd scroll down and Firefox would sort of freeze for a few seconds and then I'd be down the page accordingly.
I've done a number of things:
-taken the battery out and put it back in
-updated BIOS
-vacuumed the outside vents
-restarted numerous times
-malware/spyware/virus checks
-uninstalled Firefox
All of this has seemed to improve it slightly but it's still not as fast as it was before. I uninstalled Firefox because I remembered that it had updated yesterday - I'm not sure the exact time and installed Google Chrome which is quicker, but the other applications such as Windows Media Centre are still quite slow. Even minesweeper lags slightly.
Processor: Intel i7 2.67GHz
RAM: 4 GB (2.98 usable)
OS: Windows 7 32-bit
Fan speed is a constant 60-70% according to Health Monitor, I don't know if that's normal.
It takes longer to shut down and boot up than it used to, about a minute to boot up and then considerably longer than usual to log in and load all the things I have on start up, which isn't a lot.
Applications take longer to load up and lag, even when I right click on some things it lags which I've never had.
I've got no clue whether it's hardware or software. I tried the vents because I hadn't done that in a while and it gets a bit dusty as I don't move it much. The manual recommends cleaning the cooling system every few months, should I try that?
Thanks.Hi buddy,
Of course you can use this complete backup file as well but its only useful if you didnt have this problem at the time you created complete backup file because this could be a software issue.
In worst case you must do a recovery installation (factory settings). This would wipe the whole HDD but so you can make sure if its a hardware issue or not.
Check this!!! -
Qosmio f60 14q, slow boot
my laptop has an extremly slow boot time so i downloaded soluto to check if a program is causing it and after multiple tests it takes 4-5 mins till i can use it. so i used the hdd recovery and reinstalled windows 7. and now it takes ~3 mins to boot. also soluto showed that the"system" takes 40-60 secs to open which is high compared to "weaker" machines in my house (~18 secs)

Can you see the HDD details in the BIOS?

If the HDD is not listed...well then the HDD is faulty -
Re: My Qosmio F60-11f is VERY SLOW and stuck all the time
Hi everyone:)
I have qosmio f60-11f with i7 2.26 up to 3.3 with turbo
6GB Ram
640GB HHD
1GB Nvidia GT330M for graphics
the problem is that since I bought it and its slow I don't know why!
Now the laptop completed 14 months and I did recovery lots of time because of the problems and stuck I have from it.
last day I did the recovery and I noticed that the laptop become more and more slowly !!!
it takes about 5 minutes to start !!!!!!! not just that,,,after started and open any folder you will notice how slowly it is. Even videos I can't open it because the laptop will stuck and play the video very very slow!!
Please help me.Hi
First of all I would recommend checking the HDD for errors HDD malfunction might affect the computer performance you should check the HDD using the freeware toolsone of the tools which I use is the Drive Fitness Test it was posted several times here in the forum and its really great software.
If the HDD would be ok and if no error would be detected, then I would recommend disabling some processes which are not important for you in many cases different tools would be loaded during the OS boot procedure and such tools run in the background which slow down the OS.
Start msconfig and check the Startup Tab
Here you will see all the software which is loaded at the beginning you can uncheck not necessary tools
Note: if you are not sure what the single process means, use google and search in internet for more details otherwise dont disable this. -
Qosmio F60-10L Bios is not working
Hey there,
I just bought a Toshiba Qosmio F60-10L.
Now the Bios is not working anymore. Everytime I want to enter Bios menu with "F2" the computer is restarting instantly.
Last week the mainboard has been changed.
But now, after I set a Supervisor password, the problem comes again.
Has anyone an Idea what to do?
Greets marxHi
You mean you are not able to access the BIOS or you are not able to boot up the notebook?
I think if you had some problems in the past (you said that motherboard has been changed) then I would assume that this issue might be related again to the same reason which appeared previously
Maybe it would be advisable to ask the guys who have replaced eh motherboard for help
Then could remove the BIOS password or Supervisor password and could update the BIOS if necessary -
Qosmio F60-10K - Exact drivers or recovery disk
Hello,
I have recently purchased this model, however got some problems with HDD and had to fully format it. So Recovery function is lost. Couldnt find exact drivers for this model and as I used drivers I have found under name Qosmio F60, made laptop boot longer and Win Experience index is quite lower.
So the question is, where could I find exact drivers for Toshiba Qosmio F60-10K or order recovery DVD/BD?Hi s0vijus,
If you search for exact drivers, it would be very interesting to know which OS you are using. The drivers for Windows 7 32bit and Windows 7 64bit are different so its an important information. Normally everything can be downloaded here:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Last but not least you can order a recovery disk here from Toshiba directly but its not for free:
