Qosmio G10-133 has no sound

Hi just new to forum so bare with me. Bought my g10 recently and carried out system restore as instructed on update documents:
1 product recovery cd-rom
2 qosmioplayer recovery cd-rom
3 qosmioplayer update cd-rom
4 qosmio update cd-rom.
Notebook has Intel 915PM Express chipset and graphics controller nVidia Geforce Go 6600.
No sound at all coming from the notebook regardless of task. Display quality is excellent.
Have tried all the checks I can think of: Have tested headphones socket with no sound regardless of volume adjustment.
SoundMax states no driver found when Ive tried to install and quits on me.
Mediaplayer -problem with sound device
Have used registry checking software to no avail.
System bios is v2.00 01/26/2006 as I think it should be.
Have run a system tool that stated unplugged devices:Soundmax Integrated digital audio-pci bus 0,device 31, fuction 5
also shows nVidia Geforce FX go 5700
not sure if this has anything to do with problem.
As far as i'm aware my go 6600 drivers are up to date.
Any ideas or information would be greatly apreciated.
Cheers Stuart.
p.s. system runing is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 service pack 2(have carried out all windows updates)

Wait a moment. If I understand you right the mainboard on your Qosmio has been replaced and you got Update tool CD. Am I right?
If yes I presume you know very well how to use given Update tool CD. It is very important to use it on the right way. I will try to explain how it should be done:
1. At first you must use delivered recovery CD
2. At the end of recovery procedure you will see message
Please remove Recovery Media and press [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL] key to restart
at this place do not press this key combination but remove recovery disc from optical disc drive and insert Update tool CD into your computer and press [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL] to restart
3. When the screen goes black, hold down the F12 key. When the Qosmio logo appears, release the F12 key.
4. Select CD/DVD-ROM Drive (CD icon) and press ENTER
5. After about 5 minutes, the copy process will be complete. The message The media will update software, please do not remove it. Hit any key to Shutdown is displayed
Press any key to shutdown.
6. Turn On the power of your notebook.
7. Windows Setup screen will appear and please follow the on-screen instructions to finish the Setup.
8. This process can take about 5 minutes and the notebook will reboot to complete.
If you install OS on this way I presume all hardware components should work properly.
Can you please confirm you have install OS as described?

  • Qosmio G10-133: Where to find NVIDIA GeForce FX Go6600 Vista drivers

I have a Qosmio G10-133 with the upgraded motherboard which I believe has the Nvidia GeForce FX Go6600 graphics chip, not the older motherboard which had the 5900 chip.
I am trying to find a recommended driver for this chip when using Vista as an operating system.
I know Toshiba no longer support this discontued model and certainly do not have the drivers on their website.
Anybody got any ideas where I can obtain a suitable driver, or even if there is one.
Nvidia's website just states that invidiual laptop manufacturers adapt drivers for their chips and don't provide a driver.
    Any ideas?

From my understanding the Toshiba doesnt support any Vista drivers for the Qosmio G10 The Vista seems to be supported since Qosmio G30 series
I have read several threads about the compatible graphic drivers for Vista OS and the _www.laptopvideo2go.com_ website provides some nVidia drivers.
But note; these drivers are not tested and therefore you can install and use it only at your own risk
    Best regards

  • Qosmio G10-133 - need Keyboard Part No

I have a Qosmio G10-133 for about 5 months, but alas a small picture fell and damaged the keyboard. It broke one key luckily, and one that isn't used much!!! The |\ key. But it is still a pain. I could claim on my household insurance, but I wont.
I am trying to find the correct part number. How easy is it to install a replacement? I recently changed a hard drive for a friend in other notebook, and keyboard removal replacement seemed very easy. What is it like on the Tosh?
[Edited by: admin on 09-Oct-05 13:36]

I just couldn't be sure as one website like www.laptopbits.co.uk says:
    Toshiba Replacement Keyboard UK Specification
New Toshiba original spare part for the following range of laptops - UK keys part number P000349000, P000405490 or P000367420
Suitable for the following Toshiba Laptops
    Qosmio E10, Qosmio F10, Qosmio G10
    Satellite 1410 series & 2410 series
    Satellite A40 and M30

Usually ships: same day for next day delivery
    P000367420
    Price each
    64.63
    Qty required
So I wasn't sure, as I can get the part no P000367420 fairly a reasonable amount secondhand. But I am uncertain what the difference is between this one and the one you quote? Any ideas? Will this part no work on a g10?
Kind regards to all who are helping.

  • Need from Qosmio G10-133 the HDD Model Number

Hi, Does anyone know how i can get the model no of the original toshiba drive that shipped with my qosmio? (it was replaced due to failure)
    If it helps my laptop is a G10 133 - PQG10E-02E00EEN serial no.25013825h
I have tried tech support to no avail..
Or does anyone have a G10 133 that has its original 80gig hard drive in that they could tell me what the model number is..please!!
Reason being i have the original plattens and i need to buy an identical drive to try and salvage some data
    Thanks in advance

Hi chaps, don't think my post was that clear..
The original drive that was in my qosmio was replaced under warranty due to failure. Toshiba told me that they would not recover any data that was left on the drive so before sending it in to be replaced i removed the hard drive plattens hoping to retrieve the data later.
Anyway i wrote the blasted model no of the drive down hoping to get the same drive and replace my plattens in that one just to retrieve the data, unfortunately we moved home in between and i can't find it anywhere!!
I think my original drive was an MK8032GAX but not 100% sure, Teleplan the repairer have replaced my original drive with a new MK8026GAX.
If i'm to stand any chance of recovering the data i need to find an identical model hard drive to the original one that was in my laptop.
    Any ideas?

  • Qosmio G10-133 & Vista can not recognise my memory stick

    Hi,
I have installed VISTA on this laptop, and I have had a few problems as you can imagine!!!!
I can not get it to recognise my memory stick. I can't find any drivers and Windows can not solve the problem.
    Anybody got any clues?
I am also having a problem if I power off the laptop. The only way I can get the power on button to work is to remove the mains cable and the battery and then I can power on the laptop. If I don't remove the power cable and the battery, I get a green light on the power button, or no light at all, and pressing it seems to do nothing. I also get a flashing orange light on the mains power light at the front of the laptop. I assume it is something to do with the computer thinking it has hibernated or something?

    What to say buddy.
The Vista is not supported on the Qosmio G10 series officially and therefore the Vista drivers dont exists for this series.
Fact is that you need an card reader driver to use the memory sticks. But as I said above such drivers are not released and dont exists.
What you can do is to check the drivers for G30 but Im very skeptical that this will work on G10.
    Bye

  • XP update wrecks my screen resolution on Qosmio G10-133

I am running a two years old G10-133. Great and reliable machine. The reason I bought it was because it has great screen resolution/sharpness for MS Word texts and Outlook emails.
For various reasons I do not download the MS Windows updates that are frequently offered in a pop-up at start up (suspicion that they can bring more problems than they solve). Anyway I have recently (despite running Norton Security all the time) picked up some sort of nasty malware in Google that hijacks around 50% of the google links after a search and sends then off to another search engine with links.
The windows and Norton firewalls did not pick these up or clean them out so I tried the Spybot freeware to get rid of them to no affect.
Finally rang up Toshiba Europe Support and the chap there recommended that :
    1) Don't use Norton. Waste of time and money and slows machine. Get the new Windows Defender freeware instead.
    2) Do all the XP updates
So I started with all the windows updates (loads), including Internet Explorer 7.
Guess what, after restart computer went a bit slow cranky, but worse the screen resolution (sharpness/clarity of text) had deteriorated in both Word, Outlook and Explorer.
So I called Toshiba Support again (I am on a three years warranty contract) and they could not solve the problem or suggest anything and seemed surprised that it had happened. We checked the usual screen resolution things in Control panels to no avail.
So I gave up, set the System Restore back before all the updates.
Computer is now stable and the screen resolution back to where it was.
    Questions:
    1) Can I get the XP updates and EXP 7 and still get my old (best) screen resolution.
    2) What about giving up Norton for Windows Defender good/safe idea?
    3) Any ideas on how to stop the hijacking of Google links?
    All help much appreciated

    Hi
1.) This is very strange and I have never heard about bad display quality after installation of Microsoft updates!
I think you should try to contact the Microsoft support and maybe they know something about such strange behaviour.
But did you try to update graphic driver and/or BIOS?
2.) This is true. I have installed the Norton System Works several months ago and my unit booted very slow with preinstalled Norton Antivirus.
I have removed it and use and freeware AntiVirus application called "Antivir".
I don't want to use the MS Windows Defender. But I don't say this application is bad.
    3) I don't know what you want to do but I don't think that this has something to do with your Toshiba notebook ;)

  • Qosmio G10-133 Drivers for Other Devices

    Hi peeps.
Yes I know this is an old laptop. I recently had to re-install the software due to hard drive failure. I always have problems. Toshiba installed a new motherboard years ago with the upgraded video chipset Nvidia Geforce Go 6600. Since then I have always had problems reinstalling using original disks. I have never been able to reinstall the Qosmio Player and always end up with the laptop rebooting after software was installed and going to blue screen of death. I have now given up with the qosmio player and the install disks (Windows MCE) and just install Windows XP. However here is the problem:
Under Device Manager I get a couple of errors:
Other Devices states MULTIMEDIA VIDEO CONTROLLER as not working.........what an earth is this and where do I find the driver?
UNKNOWN DEVICE as not working.................................what on earth can this be and what drivers?

    Hi again,
I went and did what you suggested, but it can't find a vendor and the 2nd item is unknown. The "System" showed the following:
System Information report written at: 02/13/11 09:19:59
    System Name: QOSMIO
    [Problem Devices]
Device PNP Device ID Error Code
Multimedia Video Controller PCI\VEN_4444&DEV_0016&SUBSYS_00011179&REV_01\4&AD1 B67F&0&48F0 The drivers for this device are not installed.
Not Available ACPI\TOS6205\2&DABA3FF&0 The drivers for this device are not installed.
I couldn't find vendor 4444. I assume that the problem is that my motherboard is different to the one my disks are for. To get the graphics card to work I had to download the drivers for the g20 model not the g10. (I assume that this is due the original being an nvidia 5900 and this board has nvidia 6200.

  • Qosmio G10-133: Cooling module problem - message appears

I have recently received a message saying that there is a problem with the cooling system. The fan was making a very rough noise, now it is very quiet. I assume that I am in need of a Cooling Module? Can any one advise of the part number, the best place to buy a,d an approx. cost. Also if my diagnosis is correct.
    Cheers

    Hi All,
I have the same overheating problem with Qosmio F10 message saying that I should return the computer for service. Well, I did. They replaced the fan and the problem continues. I would be grateful for any detailed information from anyone who has experienced this problem and had it rectified (by themselves or via service). I have spent about ten hours on internet ensuring that I have updated BIOS, tv tuner driver etc.etc.etc - I have done everything suggested on this and other sites (despite the number of people who are having a problem with it, the problem does not appear to exist for Intel or Toshiba). Many thanks in advance.

  • Car Mains Invertor for powering a Qosmio G10 -133

Is there a car adapter compatible with the G10 & if so could you provide details - I read the thread relating to the F10 car adapter but could not find the car adaptor referred to therein.
    I read in http://www.laptopbits.co.uk/Database_files/Mains_Invertors.htm
that mains invertors are preferable & intend purchasing a Powerpack 200 from Halfords which can power up to 300 watt items like laptops. Is this preferable to a car adapter & what if any dangers to my laptop are associated with using this means of powering the G10 133

Thanks but as the PX1188E-1NPO car adaptor costs 90, I bought the Portable Power Pack 200 referenced above for 70 which has additional functions which I need. The question remains however, about whether the power invertor (300W 12v-240v )may damage my laptop when used with the Toshiba mains adaptor?
PS I re-registered using doc 1 as I couldn't log in easily using my original details.

  • Qosmio G10-133 - Battery not detected following Windows 7 upgrade

Hello, I hope someone can help my frustrations here.
Over the last couple of weeks I have successfully upgraded my laptop to Windows 7, increased memory to 2gb, purchased new laptop power lead, brand new battery and and resolved every issue that Windows 7 threw at me. The laptop and works like a dream other than one issue that seems to have got worst.
The laptop no longer recognises the new battery.(picture of battery with cross through it and a power plug) For approximately a week after installing the battery it worked okay but now will not detect it all. I have no errors in the device manager and windows has recognised the ACPI battery entries etc and has no issues. I have also loaded the Toshiba value added package that Windows 7 found for me but still nothing. The battery does not even charge although sometimes the battery works for around 30 secs on boot up if the battery is removed and put back in, and then stops again (once Windows has loaded) I have tried numerous things like disabling driver, reinstalling battery etc but nothing. I did try the battery iniitally with Windows XP and worked fine.
I have also searched the web and have seen many other laptops with Windows 7 have had this problem, including Toshibas. Some say update the BIOS but Toshiba have not released an upgrade since the original one in 2004 (which is for WIn XP Media Center) and there are no settings in my BIOS for ACPI etc.
Also, I cannot calibrate the battery as I cannot do anything with it. I dont think this is an issue though.
If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it or any links to any drivers etc.
If this is sorted my laptop should last for another 5 years!
    Thanks for reading this.
    Dickie

    Hi
First of all I doubt that many other notebooks with Windows 7 have this issue. I never heard about this and normally the battery charging will not be controlled from the OS. It happens automatically and your battery will be charged if the AC/DC is plugged in. So the OS doesnt affect this!
To be honest I also dont know why your battery isnt detected but what happens if you power off the notebook and leave the AC/DC adaptor connected for 24 hours? After this it should be possible to work on battery minute for 1 hour or more.
If not it seems to be a hardware issue Maybe the battery doesnt work properly anymore and should be replaced. You should contact the dealer where you purchased it
By the way: Here are some nice and interesting tips about battery:

  • Qosmio G10-133 Question about DVD COMBO Drive replacement

    Hi
my laptop has a DVD driver labled UJ-830B but the device managaer reports that it is a UJ-830S. I have posted before saying I haven't been able to burn DVDs. It gets part way through then errors out saying unable to burn. I have used various software and disc makes but all to no avail.
I purchased an external burner which burns no problems, however it does defeat the object of having one built into the lapotop!!!
Can anyone suggest a suitable replacement drive? I have already tried an NEC 5540A drive, but my laptop didn't recognise that it was installed. I assume it is something to do with Master/Slave?? If the laptop doesn't recognise the drive I am obviously unable to flash any firmware.
    Somebody please help.....

    Hi
Seems you have already noticed that the drive replacement is not so easy.
The internal notebook drives dont support any jumpers like the external drives for desktop PCs and the settings are fixed and in my knowledge not changeable
I found some compatible drives numbers but unfortunately, I did not find the drive names.
It seems this are any internal part numbers.
    DVD Super Multi Drive
    - MATSU****A (G8CC00021610) UJ830
    - MATSU****A (G8CC0001S610)
DVD Super Multi Drive (supporting Double-Layer)
    - MATSU****A (G8CC00021611)
    - TEAC (G8CC00024611)
However, the service partner could provide you a information about compatible drive.

  • Qosmio G10-133: I am having random lockups - Graphic driver issue

    Hi
my machine screen goes blank at random and i get the below error message which suggests i need finally the latest graphic driver. Uninstall the Nividea driver from my machine which appeared to fix the problem but my graphics were reduced. I then reinstalled from the Toshiba site the graphic driver and i have the same problem.
    Please can you help?
Error caused by NVIDIA Graphics Driver: no specific solution found.
Thank you for submitting an error report.
    Problem description:
An unknown error occurred in NVIDIA Graphics Driver, created by NVIDIA Corporation.
    Recommendations:
NVIDIA Corporation is currently not aware of a specific solution for the problem that you reported. Below is a list of recommendations to take that may help prevent the problem from recurring.
    1. Download and install an updated NVIDIA Graphics Driver from one of the following locations:
    Microsoft Update
    NVIDIA Corporation
    2. If an updated driver is not available, check with your computer manufacturer.
    3. If you are running the latest version of NVIDIA Graphics Driver, please contact NVIDIA Corporation for your support options.
    Additional information:
If this problem continues to occur with the latest product updates for NVIDIA Graphics Driver we highly recommend you obtain assistance and troubleshooting information directly from NVIDIA Corporation.
If you are not familiar with NVIDIA Graphics Driver and you are questioning how the program was installed on your computer, it is possible that the program was installed with another program. If you do not know why NVIDIA Graphics Driver is running, many programs configure themselves to start automatically every time you turn on your computer.

    Hi
I agree with previous comment. We don?t know what did you done with your unit and why the display driver makes problems now. The fact is that you should use the display driver designed by notebook manufacturer and not from graphic card producer.
How to say now what you can do? Advice given by NVIDIA is correct. Try to start the unit in safe mode using F8 key at the start up. From device manager remove listed graphic device or even graphic driver software listed under software in control panel (if you can find something there). Restart the unit and when WXP is loaded try to install Toshiba designed driver again.

  • Qosmio G10 Graphics and Sound driver installation

    Hi
I have recently tried to reinstall my Toshiba Qosmio G10 after downloading all the latest drivers of the Toshiba site.
Unfortunately I have had my motherboard and display replaced over the last 3 years (under Warranty) , which means all the hardware has changed from the original laptop I bought (now has Graphics card ,NVIDIA GeForce go 6600, new chipset, etc, as far as i remember).
Does anyone have a system recovery cd or a place I can download the correct drivers for this laptop.
I am a sys admin, and technical and have spent about 5 hours pulling out my hair trying to get the video and sound drivers working.

    Hi!
It is pretty easy to get drivers for a Toshiba notebook.
Did you search on Toshiba website?
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
Search for Qosmio G10 and then you will find it.

  • Qosmio G10 - Sound speaker quality

Hi Guys, have any of you qosmio g10 owners experience pretty ordinary sound from your speakers (harman/kardon), specially when you turn up the volume? music cds,mp3s,even movies,, the speakers dont seem to handle bass well at all? i did call toshiba and they will take a look at my machine..i would just like to know if its just me or have all you guys experience the same problem..to my understanding the sound quality of this machine should be excellent crisp and very clear..any input would be much appreciated cheers..

    Hi
I am also owner of Qosmio G10. I must tell you that I am very satisfied with sound and very powerful harman/kardon speakers. The only thing that I can advice to you is to check all sound settings. Please check all settings in Toshiba virtual sound tool especially Restore default settings if the basic Settings is switched to ON.
I have noticed that all options there have a strong influence on sound quality and there is possible to set the optimal sound quality for every sort of music.
    My configuration is:
    Speaker Size 200Hz
    TruBass Level 75%
    FOCUS Level 76%
Don`t forget that every player has an own equalizer and there you can also try to find out which setting is the best one for your requirements.

  • Qosmio G10: How to get Toshiba Virtual Sound in Taskbar

System: Qosmio G10 running Windows XP.
When I bought the system, it came loaded with Toshiba's 'Virtual Sound' app, which replaced the standard Microsoft Volume Control app in the XP Taskbar (bottom right of screen). Now, the standard 'Volume Control' app appears in the Taskbar.
How do I get the 'Virtual Sound' app back? It enables me to easily switch between setting the sound for the laptop's internal speakers and using larger external speakers.
    Thanks!
    Ben.
    PS. Love Qosmio's!

    Hello Ben
First of all check if this application is preinstalled on your notebook. When application is preinstalled properly in task manager under running processes you can find TvsTray.exe listed there.
If the application is correctly installed you can also find an entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Run when you start REGEDIT in RUN option.
Check all this. If there is something wrong I recommend you to install it again.
