Qosmio G10: Composite input and WinDVD creator

I've got a Qosmio G10 and WinDVD creator 2, as shipped with machine. I'm trying to copy some old VHS tapes onto my HDD using WinDVD creator and the composite input next to the power socket (connected to VHS through SCART and supplied adapter)
WinDVDc isn't seeing anything at all to record from, let alone the composite input (which works fine when I press the 'input select' button just next to the brightness adjuster on the machine). I cannot therefore see or record from my analogue TV signal either, which is set up and working fine under MC. I can record using MC but the dvr-ms fie format it uses isn't editable and is far too bloated.
I've also tried using nerovision for the same purpose, but I get an error message saying 'capture device is already in use...'.
Sorry if this is a question for intervideo, but the Tosh forums seem more useful.
HELP!

Hi Jake
Look at the drivers download (the section valid for your model and OS) for a Registry patch. Take a look also at the info for it. I think that should fix your problem. That means that you will get the Composite input as a valid source of data in WinDVD Creator.
Good luck
Tom

Similar problem to an earlier post, but suggested solution doesn't work. I'm trying to record from VCR using Creator, but it lists no capture devices, despite video and audio coming in OK on composite IN. What do I need to do to get to recognise inputs?

  • Qosmio G10: DVD-R and DVD+RW are CDs when inserted

When viewing my empty DVD drive via Windows Explorer, it displays "DVD-RAM Drive".
When I put a blank DVD-R or DVD+RW (brand new Phillips) into the drive, the drive description immediately changes to "CD Drive", and I only get audio options.
I have never managed to write to DVD from this machine. It is totally standard build, running XP Media Centre.
It will play all CDs and DVDs that I've tried. It is supposed to write to all formats of DVD.
I have written to CD with no problems previously - and to (try to) write to DVD I have unchecked the "Enable CD recording on this drive feature".
Can anyone tell me what I need to do?
    Many thanks...

    Hi
I would suggest to change the autoplay settings in the DVD/CD drive properties. This option you can find in the AutoPlay tab.
There you can choose the content type Blank CD and then the action.

  • Qosmio G10 - capturing using WinDVD Creator

I'm having trouble capturing video using the s-video input and WinDVD Creator - I've connected my camcorder to the s-video port, but WinDVD Creator doesn't recognise anything is being played. Several users have advised on clicking the spanner icon after running WinDVD Creator, but I've tried opening it several times, selecting a new project, and I can't see the spanner icon no matter what I do.
I've had the software on my computer for some time. Have I missed something in the initial set-up? Do I need to reinstall?
Any help would be much appreciate.
    Cheers

  • Qosmio G10-106: No warranty but motherboard was replaced free of charge

    Hey there.
I have my toshiba QOSMIO G10 since 2005 and this year my graphic just went bad for any reason, my bad was I had my warranty already expired, so I called Toshiba to inform myself about the price of the mainboard as the graphic card is integrated with it.
It was absurd with VAT will cost me £630.00, I fell frustrated and I resolved to call Toshiba to make a complaining as a did. They returned my call telling me
They will change my mainboard FREE OF CHARGE and they did it in "48 hours" unbeliveble.
It was amazing and grateful. So if someone is having the same problem as i had just call them.
PS. this is my second Toshiba computer i can tell you after that i will love toshiba forever and i fell so happy and proud to have had purchased my computer from a respectable company as Toshiba.

I saw you have already posted you issue here in this thread:

Hey Marcelo thanks for sharing this info with us! I think the Toshiba support is really NOT bad and you message confirms this fact!

  • Qosmio G10-133 & Vista can not recognise my memory stick

    Hi,
I have installed VISTA on this laptop, and I have had a few problems as you can imagine!!!!
I can not get it to recognise my memory stick. I can't find any drivers and Windows can not solve the problem.
    Anybody got any clues?
I am also having a problem if I power off the laptop. The only way I can get the power on button to work is to remove the mains cable and the battery and then I can power on the laptop. If I don't remove the power cable and the battery, I get a green light on the power button, or no light at all, and pressing it seems to do nothing. I also get a flashing orange light on the mains power light at the front of the laptop. I assume it is something to do with the computer thinking it has hibernated or something?

    What to say buddy.
The Vista is not supported on the Qosmio G10 series officially and therefore the Vista drivers dont exists for this series.
Fact is that you need an card reader driver to use the memory sticks. But as I said above such drivers are not released and dont exists.
What you can do is to check the drivers for G30 but Im very skeptical that this will work on G10.

  • Can't burn with DVD with WinDVD Creator

    Greetings,
I have a new FX5900XT (bundled w/Vivo and WinDVD Creator).  I captured video from camcorder and made a nice move with effects and titles, etc...
Now, when I go to "Make Move" it shows movie size as zero.  When I go through the motions and tell it to burn to DVD, it says "Please select files first.".  I've saved the move to MPEG, and tried loading it from "Make Movie" as well.  I can watch the movie in the preview area on Make Movie page, but it still give me the error when I tell it to burn.
InterVideo won't support bundled software - they sent me to my "OEM", but I can't find anything in the FAQ or online help, so here we go...
    Anybody know whassup?
    Thanks

    Hi mstone
I have found intervideo software to be very buggy, may I suggest you try another DVD encoding program (Ulead or TMPGenc trial ).

  • Qosmio F10 :WinDVD creator

Qosmio F10 is sell with DVD creator, does anyone acquire analog video with it

With the version of WinDVD Creator shipped with the F10, I find it impossible to capture either DV video (camescope connection) or TV/Video Recorder input. The capture screen is continuously blank. So I downloaded the trial version of WinDVD Creator directly from InterVideo, and voila! It recognized both, immediately, no problems. Anybody else have this situation?

  • Qosmio G10 with new graphic card and pcb - Tools CD Update doesn't work

    Hi everybody
I hope you can help me. Before a few weeks I received my Toshiba Qosmio G10 back from the support, because the notebook didn't work anymore. So I get it back with a new Grafic card and a new PCB. With my Notebook I get a CD which is called update Tool CD-Rom and an instruction sheet, where it says that you have to boot with this update Tool CD-Rom after you had installed the Windows with the reovery CD.
So I made it, but when I know put the update Tool CD-Rom in and I boot with it, the computer installs something but after a short while there comes a message that it is a different model and that I have to put a button to shut down the Notebook. So i made it but the Windows doesn't start.
Why is that so? I had everything done which was said on the instruction sheet.
    Please help me

    Hello
It will be interesting to find out more about this update Tool CD-Rom. Is there Toshiba label? Can you please write what is described there?

  • Qosmio G10 Graphics and Sound driver installation

    Hi
I have recently tried to reinstall my Toshiba Qosmio G10 after downloading all the latest drivers of the Toshiba site.
Unfortunately I have had my motherboard and display replaced over the last 3 years (under Warranty) , which means all the hardware has changed from the original laptop I bought (now has Graphics card ,NVIDIA GeForce go 6600, new chipset, etc, as far as i remember).
Does anyone have a system recovery cd or a place I can download the correct drivers for this laptop.
I am a sys admin, and technical and have spent about 5 hours pulling out my hair trying to get the video and sound drivers working.

    Hi!
It is pretty easy to get drivers for a Toshiba notebook.
Did you search on Toshiba website?
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers
Search for Qosmio G10 and then you will find it.

  • Qosmio G10-100 - optical drive replacement and IDE01

I just replaced my DVD optical drive on my Toshiba Qosmio G10-100 with a Product Number Optiarc AD7543A drive but I get an IDE01 error message at start up.
At first the DVD optical drive worked then Toshiba did not recognize drive. Any solutions?

Joao is right. If you use non-compatible device the pin assignment is not the same and the new device is not recognized by BIOS. To avoid all those problems check users manuals document and try to obtain the compatible ODD.

  • Qosmio G10: analog video signal capturing from Camcorder

    Please help
I am from Canada and new to this forum. I bought a Qosmio G10 early this year but only had a chance to try to use it to capture and convert my V8 home video tapes recently with no success.
I have tried the Toshiba Tech support with no hope. I have tried the registery patch for VinDVD creator 2, but still it is not seeing my video input stream from the camcorder. I tried both S-Video and Composite inputs with no result. Anybody with similar experience?
    I appreciate your help.
    Moe

    Help please?
    It's me again!
So far I've got the analog video stream captured only when using DVD Creator 2. But, I still have two more problems to solve. 1) When I stop recording onto DVD creator, always error message:"WinDVD Creator has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." is displayed, and restarting the program it cannot open the recorded clip saying "either the file is corrupt or a non-compatible file format" while Windows Media player can play it back. I cannot edit the recorded video clip as a result. 2) The second problem is that the video stream from S-Video of analog camcorder is played back OK, but once click the record on DVD creator, the video capturing starts to lag and looses smooth flow.
Any hint or comment is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Moe

  • Qosmio G10: News Flash - Great News for Capturing!!

I own a Qosmio G10. I live in Australia and purchased the notebook here. I like to keep things upto date and was scanning the Australian Toshiba website when I came across a special up-date for Qosmio owners Here's the link

You can change the quality settings as well. I've looked on the international Toshiba website and can't find it. Anyway I hope it works for you all. There are some release notes for the utility on the page as well. Good luck!

  • TV does not work anymore on Qosmio G10

    Good morning,
TV does not work anymore, may be due to an update. It has been working OK before.
When selecting TV option 'TV direct ' with MCE menu, I get the following error message: "necessary files for video display are not installed or do not work properly, restart MCE or the computer". Restarting MCE and / or G10 does not solve the problem.
    -Intervideo WinDVD creator is installed.
-TV PCI tuner seems to work properly (as per hardware status)
Which files can be missing? What needs to be done?
    Any help, suggestions, well appreciated.
Thank you to anyone answering this message.

    Hello Luciano
Like you know on this way it is not easy to give you precise answer because we dont know what did you done exactly with your Qosmio.
Please try to use System restore tool at first and roll back the operating system to earlier time. Maybe this will help you and the MCE configuration will be as before.
    Try it at first.
