Qosmio G10: OS is not running corectly

hi. my problem is that my windows xp is not running corectly, the mousecursor, sounds, videos, games, programs all is running in a "stop and go". like the cpu slows down every 1 till 2 seconds. i reinstalled windows now 4 times and formated all hds.
dont know what to do...
and a second question... maybe this could be the answer for the first one ;-)
in my hardware-listing from my windows-system are two items i cant find a driver for.
-PCI-Device
-videocontroller fuer multimedia (german ;-))
maybe in english systems its the "multimedia controll device" or "multimedia videocontroller" or anything else...
does anybody know were i can get the drivers, because theyre not listet on the toshiba-homepage. and my system backup-disk was stolen. (sounds strange... i know :-))
ok, please give me some tips, if you have any ideas!

First of all it will be interesting to know if the unit is preinstalled by recovery media. The Qosmio installation is pretty complicated and I recommend you to use recovery CD.
On this way it is not possible to give you precise answer because I dont know which stuff is installed on your unit. I presume that in your case some application (like virus scan) runs in background and your HDD can be stressed.
If your recovery DVD is stolen you can order one by Authorized service partner in your country.

Qosmio G10-133 - Battery not detected following Windows 7 upgrade

Hello, I hope someone can help my frustrations here.
Over the last couple of weeks I have successfully upgraded my laptop to Windows 7, increased memory to 2gb, purchased new laptop power lead, brand new battery and and resolved every issue that Windows 7 threw at me. The laptop and works like a dream other than one issue that seems to have got worst.
The laptop no longer recognises the new battery.(picture of battery with cross through it and a power plug) For approximately a week after installing the battery it worked okay but now will not detect it all. I have no errors in the device manager and windows has recognised the ACPI battery entries etc and has no issues. I have also loaded the Toshiba value added package that Windows 7 found for me but still nothing. The battery does not even charge although sometimes the battery works for around 30 secs on boot up if the battery is removed and put back in, and then stops again (once Windows has loaded) I have tried numerous things like disabling driver, reinstalling battery etc but nothing. I did try the battery iniitally with Windows XP and worked fine.
I have also searched the web and have seen many other laptops with Windows 7 have had this problem, including Toshibas. Some say update the BIOS but Toshiba have not released an upgrade since the original one in 2004 (which is for WIn XP Media Center) and there are no settings in my BIOS for ACPI etc.
Also, I cannot calibrate the battery as I cannot do anything with it. I dont think this is an issue though.
If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it or any links to any drivers etc.
If this is sorted my laptop should last for another 5 years!

First of all I doubt that many other notebooks with Windows 7 have this issue. I never heard about this and normally the battery charging will not be controlled from the OS. It happens automatically and your battery will be charged if the AC/DC is plugged in. So the OS doesnt affect this!
To be honest I also dont know why your battery isnt detected but what happens if you power off the notebook and leave the AC/DC adaptor connected for 24 hours? After this it should be possible to work on battery minute for 1 hour or more.
If not it seems to be a hardware issue Maybe the battery doesnt work properly anymore and should be replaced. You should contact the dealer where you purchased it

I can not run corectly of youtube on mozila..and my idm was do not run on mozila too

the view of youtube on mozila was soo big.. look like error.. i can not sett it for the original size..
i try too reinstall mozila, but i still can not make it..
honestly..
i more like to use mozila than chrome

Qosmio G10-133 & Vista can not recognise my memory stick

Hi,
I have installed VISTA on this laptop, and I have had a few problems as you can imagine!!!!
I can not get it to recognise my memory stick. I can't find any drivers and Windows can not solve the problem.
Anybody got any clues?
I am also having a problem if I power off the laptop. The only way I can get the power on button to work is to remove the mains cable and the battery and then I can power on the laptop. If I don't remove the power cable and the battery, I get a green light on the power button, or no light at all, and pressing it seems to do nothing. I also get a flashing orange light on the mains power light at the front of the laptop. I assume it is something to do with the computer thinking it has hibernated or something?

The Vista is not supported on the Qosmio G10 series officially and therefore the Vista drivers dont exists for this series.
Fact is that you need an card reader driver to use the memory sticks. But as I said above such drivers are not released and dont exists.
What you can do is to check the drivers for G30 but Im very skeptical that this will work on G10.

Qosmio G10-100 - failure afer HDD replacement with larger HDD

Following a HDD failure in a Qosmio G10-100, I replaced the current IDE 80GB HD with a 160GB IDE drive. After running the recovery DVD, new HDD was formatted and the software successfully installed (subsequently proved by removing the drive and treating as an exterrnal HDD on another PC).
However, on booting up, the machine recognised that this was a different hard drive and would not let me proceed beyond the screen that offered alternatives (Safe Mode, etc), neither of which would allow me access.
Any advise greatfully received

Many thanks for looking at this issue Paulo30 and Syntax. To answer your questions:
a) I have installed the Windows OS using the Toshia recovery disc on the new 160GB HDD
b) I have now repeated the procedure twice following the failure of the PC to successfully start up
c) What appears to be the correct file structure and files have been written to the drive (confirmed by removing the HDD and looking at its contents on another PC)
d) I also repeated the procedure using the original 80 GB HDD and still no joy
e) I get an error message that begins with the following:
' We apologise for the inconvenience but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this'
f) The 80GB HDD was a replacement installed by Toshiba under warranty when the original drive failed and the operating system was installed on this new drive by them but not using my recovery DVDs
What I think I understand from the above is that because the hardware configutation is not exactly the same as when first installed at the factory (HDD in this case has changed) at the time my Toshiba recovery disc was created, this has caused a glitch with the recovery procedure.
I am sure that I am not the first person to be in this position and wonder if there is a simple solution

Qosmio G10-106: No warranty but motherboard was replaced free of charge

Hey there.
I have my toshiba QOSMIO G10 since 2005 and this year my graphic just went bad for any reason, my bad was I had my warranty already expired, so I called Toshiba to inform myself about the price of the mainboard as the graphic card is integrated with it.
It was absurd with VAT will cost me £630.00, I fell frustrated and I resolved to call Toshiba to make a complaining as a did. They returned my call telling me
They will change my mainboard FREE OF CHARGE and they did it in "48 hours" unbeliveble.
It was amazing and grateful. So if someone is having the same problem as i had just call them.
PS. this is my second Toshiba computer i can tell you after that i will love toshiba forever and i fell so happy and proud to have had purchased my computer from a respectable company as Toshiba.

What is this update about? (Qosmio G10)

I received the mail below from Toshiba. I hate the fact that they -in most cases- do not explain what an update is about and I also hate installing something I have no idea what it is about.
Anybody done this and can tell be what this is? Is this crucial somehow or just an additional utility. My WLAN is working properly so I do not have any issue on this.

Qosmio G10: How to get Toshiba Virtual Sound in Taskbar

System: Qosmio G10 running Windows XP.
When I bought the system, it came loaded with Toshiba's 'Virtual Sound' app, which replaced the standard Microsoft Volume Control app in the XP Taskbar (bottom right of screen). Now, the standard 'Volume Control' app appears in the Taskbar.
How do I get the 'Virtual Sound' app back? It enables me to easily switch between setting the sound for the laptop's internal speakers and using larger external speakers.

First of all check if this application is preinstalled on your notebook. When application is preinstalled properly in task manager under running processes you can find TvsTray.exe listed there.
If the application is correctly installed you can also find an entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Run when you start REGEDIT in RUN option.
Check all this. If there is something wrong I recommend you to install it again.

Display Properties (Qosmio G10)

Hi,
Basically, I tried to show my parents on their TV photos from uni(Qosmio G10 - WIn MCE 2005). And it worked! Then, because I thought the resolution was too fine, I decided to tinker about with the settings in Display Properties as well as the GeForce FX Go5700 utility to change it and got carried away changing settings. After I pressed some button or another, the image on the TV vanished. I can't seem to get it back.
Anyway to reset or default Display Properties and/ or the GeForce utility - at least this will aloow me to continue to use my laptop for other presentation needs esp. at uni.

Yes, while the Qomsio is running, press Fn + F5 until you get a picture back on its internal screen.

Qosmio G10: Monitor completely blacked out

Hello!
I have this problem with my Qosmio G10, I turn on the laptop, the fan makes a high noise and finally it logs in Windows. Meanwhile, i cannot see what's happening, because the screen is blacked out. I just hear the sound for the Windows log on.
I tried to connect a normal PC monitor, as well as press Fn + F5, which is the hotkey for switch b/w types of display.
If anyone has or had the same problem and could help me, i would be more than grateful, as this problem is going on for weeks.

Did you try to boot into a safe mode?
Please check if this possibility is available and if it will solve the display problem.
But if note, so I suggest that there is something wrong with the display or with a part of the display for example: FL inverter.
In this case the best way is to contact the Toshiba service partner because he could make some diagnostic test and he can dive you a proper answer which part is defect.

Qosmio G10-133: Where to find NVIDIA GeForce FX Go6600 Vista drivers

I have a Qosmio G10-133 with the upgraded motherboard which I believe has the Nvidia GeForce FX Go6600 graphics chip, not the older motherboard which had the 5900 chip.
I am trying to find a recommended driver for this chip when using Vista as an operating system.
I know Toshiba no longer support this discontued model and certainly do not have the drivers on their website.
Anybody got any ideas where I can obtain a suitable driver, or even if there is one.
Nvidia's website just states that invidiual laptop manufacturers adapt drivers for their chips and don't provide a driver.
Any ideas?

From my understanding the Toshiba doesnt support any Vista drivers for the Qosmio G10 The Vista seems to be supported since Qosmio G30 series
I have read several threads about the compatible graphic drivers for Vista OS and the _www.laptopvideo2go.com_ website provides some nVidia drivers.
But note; these drivers are not tested and therefore you can install and use it only at your own risk

G10 - internal speakers not disconnecting

When I use the headphone jack on my Qosmio G10 with an optical S/PDIF cable (Toslink) the internal speakers are not disabled, although the user manual (page 2-4) states they should.
They are disabled when headphones are used.
Is my notebook at fault or the User guide ?

You are absolutely right. The Users manual says that the internal speakers will be disabled automatically and this information is right. Audio jack contains a small switch who disable internal speakers if the audio jack is in use.
I assume that this small switch is defective. Unfortunately it can not be fixed on your own. Just service partner can check it properly. I am pretty sure that the warranty is still valid. Call them and explain the problem.

Qosmio G30: I can not find Linux drivers for Bluetooth and TV Tuner

I have the Qosmio Q30 HD-DVD(PQG32) running on Ubuntu Linux. My Problem is I can not find drivers for Bluetooth and TV Tuner.
Does Toshiba support Linux? If yes when I find it?

TV tunner, forget it there is'nt a Linix driver for it yet.
Bluetooth NO PROBLEM
First turn on your wireless card.
2nd runn the command toshutils -b I think
toshutils is a support program for toshiba laptops.
you also need to have the bluetooth drivers loaded on your machine.
If everything is working correctly a little B bluetooth logo will appear on the top toolbar

I am yet to try it but have installed it and using WinDVD creator I can choose to capture from S-video, Composite video or TV tuner. This may be just what we've all been waiting for.
