Qosmio G20: How to run programs and films only on second display

Is it possible to select which programs are displayed on the secondary display (tv)?? If so how.
Also if I output a film to the tv it plays on the laptop sound and all. How can this be stopped i.e only play on the tv?

Usually you can change the display devices with the function FN+F5.
Then you can change the option to notebook/LCD, LCD, notebook/TV, TV
If you use the software like WinDVD so you have firstly change the display device and then use the software.

APO PP/DS doesn't have a 1-to-1 match for MRP/Cap levelling per se. There are, though, a limitless number of ways to achieve the results you want.
Start with a basic PP planning MRP - SAP_PP_002, which will should create all necessary planned orders
Then try a DS heuristic to schedule your orders according to capacity. Schedule Sequence SAP001 is a good starting point. This can be used to schedule your cap relevant work centers such that they fully load the capacity available, similar to cap levelling.

I have 12 core with Quatro 4000 and 5770, I want to use dual monitor setup, monitors are NEC with Spectraview-II. How do I connect? 4000 only has 1 Display Port and 1 DVI. 5770 has 2 of each, if I use both 5770 Display Ports, does the 4000 contribute?

I read that Display Port has higher band width than DVI, NEC monitors for best performance they recommend using DIsplay Port.
When I was setting this up I looked at a Nvidia Quadro 4000, unfortunately it was for PC, it had 2 Display Ports, in the Mac version they reduce it to one. I did not think there could be a difference.
Mainly want to use it for CS6 and LR4.
How to proceed???
I do not want to use the Quadro 4000 for both, that would not optimize both monitors, one DP and 1 DVI. Using just the 5770 would work but I do not think the 4000 would be doing anything, and the 5770 has been replaced by the 5870.more bandwidth.
Any ideas, I am a Mac newbie, have not ever tried a Mac Pro, just bought off ebay and now I have these problems.
As a last resort I could sell both and get a 5870. That would work, I'm sure of that, it's just that I wanted the better graphics card.

I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can. From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance. The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs. Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA. I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000. Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected? I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are. I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4. Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

This work at some point. But it's not resolving what I intend to do. When I give "Read Only" previledge, to the certain group, it won't be able to do other tasks what they do day to day. I am looking specifically to give read only previledge in the scripting level. Not at the configuration level.

Qosmio G20: How to disable/workaround SCMS-T for adiosyn with bluetooth headphones?

I've recently purchased a set of bluetooth stereo headphones (Creative CB2350) and found that due to the inclusion of SCMS-T copyright protection I cannot audiosync directly to my laptops bluetooth stack (Qosmio G20). The headphones come with an audio jack adapter (bluetooth transmitter), however it runs on a single AAA battery and cannot last more than about an hour; so I need to connect without this.
Is there any way to disable or workaround the requirement for SCMS-T copyright-protection in the latest toshiba bluetooth stack? and if not why not?! I've paid good money for both my Qosmio and my Headphones and I'm quit infuriated at the deliberate inclusion of software/firmware designed specifically to prevent me from using my hardware for legitimate purposes (i.e. what they were designed to do).

PS: Frankly I didn't have much of a problem with DRM technology before this, but now I can see just how irritating and pointless DRM is; compare the number of people who actually use bluetooth devices for pirating (negligable) to the number of bluetooth headphones that do not support SCMS-T (alot if all my google searchs are anything to go by) and you see just how stupid the whole idea of DRM over bluetooth really is.
In my not so humble opinion big corporations like toshiba should railroaded over converluted pap such as SCMS-T as a matter of recourse; the end user doesn't want to spend several years downloading licenses and scouring the web only to find out his/her hardware is utterly useless. (sorry for the rant but that is how I feel).

Thanks for responding again.
Initially I had thought that the adapter/transmitter failed due to a dead battery, although I have since confirmed that the battery is not dead, in fact the adapter works fine (at least for a time). It would seem that the adapter simply shuts down at random intervals (it has happened a few times now) and I can't figure out for the life of me why; the adapter is designed to switch-off after 2 minutes of inactivity although each time it (randomly) switches off I have been recieving audio so perhaps there is something wrong with the auto switch-off function? or perhaps the batteries are in the process of dying?
I have can't recall seeing an estimate of battery lifetime for the adapter on the creative product website (that is not to say there isn't one) but the headset has an estimated continuous runtime of up to 8 hours (on its 2xAAA batteries) so I would assume that the adapter can last at least as long (on its 1xAAA battery); if not this amounts to a major design flaw in my opinion. Sadly the adapter doesn't come with an AC adapter, it is only little itself and I assume it would require one heck of a transformer. ;)
Bah, I'll try and get the blasted thing to work reliably over the next week or so and if I have no luck creative can sort it out. It would still be nice to use my headset without the aid of the audio jack, seeing that headset logo on my bluetooth 'radar' screen is a bit of a tease. ;)
Incidentally I have been probing furiously to find a set of bluetooth headphones which support SCMS-T and it would seem there is only one set on the market (by bluetake) and what's more it would seem that the SCMS-T is specifically designed to degrade sound quality (don't know to what extent but regardless this seems like 1 step forward followed by 5 steps back to me) which would seem incompatible with any bluetooth consumer audio products - Toshiba me thinks it is time to lock the proponents of SCMS-T in a cupboard somewhere and get to work on bluetooth stack v5.0. ;)

I have a Toshiba G20 Qosmio. :) It has windows xp professional installed on it.
I can access the Qosmio Player (pressing the tv button) when the laptop is off. I get a snowy picture.
I donnot have a remote. I am from South Africa.
Can someone help with the following:
- Do I need a remote to tune to a psecific frequency?
- If no, how do I tune to a specific frequency without a remote?
- How do I access the user interface on the Qosmio player?
- Can the Qosmio player be accessed from Windows?
- Is there a guide on how to setup and use the Qosmio player? If yes, please provide download link.

What Qosmio player do you have?
As far as I know the Qosmio Player versions 4.3 and older do not support DVB-T signal.
Furthermore Im not quite sure if you would be able to receive the TV channels in South Africa if this Qosmio G20 has been released in European country.
The point is that the internal tuner would not receive the signals due to different PAL/NTSC settings.

In order to run scan you have to start the Qosmio player, press the F1 key and go into setup.
There you can do a scan. You dont need the remote control!
The other fact is that the Qosmio Player is not Windows based applications and you cannot start if from Windows. If Windows is running then you can use the MCE (Media Center) instead of Qosmio player.

Qosmio G20: How to get rid of large, green on-screen volume display?

I have a Qosmio G20 which i bought in Japan last year and have since changed it over to English operating system and drivers. However one thing ive noticed that is different from the Japanese set up is that everytime i adjust the Volume level using the wheel on the right hand side of the laptop, a large green Volume level display comes up on the screen. I want to get rid of this cos it takes up nearly half of the screen. The Japanese version didnt have this problem.
I checked all the settings in Control Panel and various Properties sections as well but couldnt find anything.
Any suggestions how to remove it? Any other Qosmio users have this on their screen?

OK, here's how the volume bar works in all Media Center (2004-2005) and how to change it :
Create a .txt file with the following :

Now here are what the settings do:
Disable: (enable or disable the volume bar)
- 00000000 (bar is shown)
- 00000001 (bar is hidden)
FontSize: (decide the font sized used to display the word "volume")
- 00000024 is font size 36 (it's hexadecimal value), for exemple 00000014 is fontsize 20, etc..
Color: (the color of the control bar and of the word "volume")
00ffffff corresponds to white, 00000000 corresponds to black. also hexadecimal.
If you want an easy way to find out, just check the color you want in HTML:
If HTML is #00AAFF for exemple, then you need to put value 00FFAA00, or for HTML #556677, the value will be 00776655
Timeout: (it represent the duration of displaying the volume bar)
000003e8 corrsponds to 1000 ms = 1 seconde. For exemple, 1,5 second is 000005dc, or 2 second is 000007d0
So replace accordingly the above with the value that you like, save as "bar.reg" then double click on it and reboot the PC!
Enjoy, it was quite a hassle to find those keys because they don't exist initially! (and because for each try, I must reboot.. :/ )

Qosmio G20: How to get higher screen resolution on external 22" monitor

I have a Qosmio G20 and today I bought a Samsung 226BW external screen. The Samsung has a max/optimal resolution of 1680x1050px. The Toshiba manual sais the laptop supports an external screen resolution up to 2048x1536 ...
I have now tried all kinds of settings, but the highest resolution I get on the external monitor is 1440x900 (- same as the laptop).
1440x900 on the 22" screen is not enough for serious picture editing; it simply looks unsharp.
What am I doing wrong? I deeply appreciate any answers/feedback; because if 1440x900 is all I can get, I have to take the xternal monitor back to the store ...

The available screen resolution depends on the graphic driver. You cannot choose the favorite resolution of 1680x1050 because the graphic card driver doesnt support it.
Maybe a graphic driver update could helps.
By the way; a inf file should be supplied by the monitor manufacture. You can install such file making right click and choosing install.

How to run jmap and jhat in Java 1.4

I need a histogram to analyse the heap memory details for the weblogic managed servers in a production environment. I was planing to use the *jmap -histo PID* command to analyse it. But my java process is running on v1.4.2.10. I have heard jmap is only available from JDK 1.5 onwards. I cannot upgrade the java version of the application.
Q1. Is there any way to get jmap for 1.4. If yes, can someone please provide a link?
Q2. This might be a little naive but is it possible that i install java 1.6 in another location in the system, run jmap and jhat in that and use the PID of the current JVM process which i want to dump?
Q3. Just another generic question - is the heap dump of jmap portable across all OS and Java verisions for analysis with jhat?

The Nokia Asha 230 does not run Android as operating system, therefore, the Google Play Store does not work. The operating system of your phone relies on a video streaming protocol called RTSP. Dailymotion does not support that anymore. I cannot comment about your Facebook issue. Perhaps someelse can.

Problem with permissions, running programs and installing programs.

I've been having trouble installing and running programs. Whenever I try to install a new program I have to make sure to right-click and select "Run as Administrator", which is something that didn't happen before. And while running programs, sometimes
they don't work well (i.e. dropbox alerts me that it cannot run because of permission issues; calibre needs to run with Administrator level, otherwise it won't open my ebooks; the list goes on).
I tried using the elevated command prompt and typin secedit
/configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose to reset the permission settings, and it does not work (it tells me that some ignorable warnings occured).
There's only one account in this machine and it has administrator level.
Any thoughts?

1. First of all, it is a bad habit to work with administrator account only. Use standard user account where programs allows for it.
2. For third party programs contact respective support/forums. Some programs are not written in right way and may need admin account. I would avoid such programs.
3. Elevated rights (Run as Administrator) is natural enhancement that comes with Windows version 6.x
4. If you want to play risky role, disable UAC (not recommended). Step-by-step is here:

Qosmio G20: How to replace a HDD

I would like to replace the second HDD with a bigger one and use the replaced one as a backup-clone of my system disk.
Just did the cloning and would like to insert the clone as 1st HDD for testing purposes, but I don't know how to actually do this.
The manual describes where the HDDs are located and how to open the laptop, but how do I remove and insert them?
There is a plastic flap/strap (sorry no native speaker) that looks like you have to pull.
Tried a bit to pull upwards, but I don't dare.
Would be nice, if someone already did this and could explain it to me.

since the HDD in the machine is connected to an special connector, you dont have to worry. Just pull it gently out and exchange the drives, nothing terrific will happen.
Just trust yourself and pull the thing out, it will just go with a little resistance, but it will go out.
