Qosmio G20 - Microsoft Media Centre Edition - ehExtHost.exe Error

I have started getting ehExtHost.exe Errors on my Qosmio G20 when switch the Media Centre Edition screen to record a TV programme.
Common Language Runtime Debugging Service id=0x17d4 (6100) and id=0x138 (312)
I have a look around the web and found some comments about Norton screwing up NET settings, I have just updated Norton Internet Security to the 2009 version so this is possible.
I also get a message with something about not being able to connect to Windows Messenger though not sure why it would want to.
I recorded a programme and it was OK when I played it back.
Has anyone any ideas how to fix this problem (or problems?)?

  • I can't syn my 2nd gen nano work with Windows XP Media Centre Edition (SP2)

I recently got a new computer with Windows XP Media Centre Edition (SP2) and a 2nd gen Nano. I have the latest version of itunes but when I plug in the Nano it won't sync.
The Nano is nowhere to be seen in itunes and shows in My Computer with an exclamation mark over it. The only thing it will do is charge.
The Nano syncs on my sisters computer which has Windows XP (SP1) and other devices work on the USB ports on my computer.
Does anyone have a clue what is wrong or what I can do.
I've had the Nano for nearly four months now and it's driving me mad!!!

    Problem solved:
I used driver guide to download usbstor.sys and usbstor.inf then placed these files in my i386 folder. Then when I restarted my PC and connected my iPod I selected the i386 folder as the location to search for drivers. After that it recognised my iPod as a storage device and installed it.

  • Has anyone installed NW 2004s SP Java on XP Media Centre Edition?

Has anyone installed NW 2004s Sneak Prevew for Java on Windows XP Media Centre Edition?
I've tried a number of times and the install completes successfully but it never finished starting up the J2EE server process.

OK this was fixed by unistalling McAfee Privacy Service. No idea why disabling the Privacy Service didnt work...

  • Boot Camp and Windows Media Centre Edition?

Just curious ... has anyone tried installing Windows Media Centre Edition with Boot Camp on their MacBook Pro? If so, how did it work out? Any issues?

    Look here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2090789??
In general, I'd say the Boot Camp forum is a better place to work on Boot Camp issues than in the model-specific ones.
Also, searching first is always recommended. In most cases, a person coming to these forums with a question or an issue is not the first one. With one exception, of course…

  • Webcam compatability with XP Media Centre Edition 2005

Can anyone tell me which webcams are compatable with XP Media Centre Edition 2005.

Media Centre Edition is laid out so that it is really simple
and easy to play videos and listen to music. I would stick with XP
as it works and isn't anywhere near as hungry as Vista.

  • Why can't I update my Audigy 2 ZS? Windows Media Centre Editi

The message subject says it all. I'm not able to update from the 2003 drivers that are included on my CD. The 2006 XP drivers did not work with my Windows (XP) "Media Centre" edition. This is causing problems with a lot of new games I'm trying to enjoy.
Where do I go from here?
Seriously, If I had known that I would have to use dated audio drivers I wouldn't have paid $20 of my hard earned money for this card...

Have you tryed removing the drivers within device manager?
Right click on My Computer > properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Sound?Video?Game Controllers?> Creative Audigy 2 ZS (thats a guess at the driver name).
just right click and uninstall then restart your PC (remember to let it do its hardware check first and it shouldn't reconise the software)?and install the new driver. Just incase of conflicts
If it still does it the remove all the Creative software Inlcuding Programs like THX, Audio Console, Drivers etc.. Media Source Should be OK to leave in but i would uninstall it anyway just incase.
Then install the new driver FIRST!?And do a Custom install on the Main CD but incheck the drivers.
If this doesn't help then it gets more complicated Regedit ETC... But thats your choice to play with registry :S

    Hi,
Is there any reason you have pipenames in your listener.ora? Make a backup of your original file, then try to remove extra entries by making it simpler. After each change, attempt to start the listener. Also, it may prove helpful to post your listener.ora.

  • SB Audigy 2 + Media Centre Edition 2

    Hi
I recently purchased a SB Audigy 2 Card for my Media Centre 2005 machine.
I installed the drivers that came on the CD but and all works fine (In theory). All 5. Channels work but now my games crash so I have tried updating the drivers and software with the Windows XP one but it says they are incompatible with my Windows although it is the Xp drivers I initially installed. All of the games including GTA SA worked fine on my onboard Realtek AC97 drivers.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks

I recommend you to use one of these DVD players: PowerDVD (http://www.gocyberlink.com/) or WinDVD (http://www.intervideo.com/). There are a lot of glitches, bugs and problems with WMP DVD playback so it's not advised to use it for watching DVDs.
If you choose to use one of the specified DVD players you'll have to select Use SPDIF in Audio options of the player. Also, make sure you've got the latest drivers for the sound card.
    Good luck.

  • Does Windows XP Media Centre Edition key also works for XP Home Edition?

    Hi all,
we got a laptop (A-100), where WinXP MCE is installed. Also we do not have a recovery-CD.
Now I want to format C: and re-install Windows - but I only have a windows xp home edition-setup- CD.
    So my question is:
*Does the (legal!) XP MCE-key works with the XP Home Edition?*
Thank you in advance for helpful answers and/or hints! =)

    Hello
The key you can find on the bottom belongs to the copy you got with your notebook and it is not a universal key.
Generally speaking you cannot use it to activate WXP if you use Microsoft installations CD.
You can try it but I am 99% sure it will not work.

  • Question about changing XP Media centre edition to xp home

I don't want to do anything illegal but is there a way for me to put Xp home on to my laptop without having to buy a new
one.Sort of a downgrade I suppose.MCE came with my laptop which I upgraded to Vista not long after but I would much prefer to have plain ol XP.
    Cheers

    Hello Anthony
It is not known to me that you can downgrade OS, just upgrade. I am afraid you need to install WXP again using Microsoft installations CD.
I do not know which notebook model you have but if you want to have clean OS installation I recommend you to install WXP Professional.

  • Qosmio G20: Questions about MCE Recovery CD/DVD

I bought this Qosmio G20 laptop few months back. Its cool. I live in Asia where media centre edition is not launched with this series. I have a Windows XP home edition with this laptop. Can anyone tell me whether its possible for me to format this OS and install MCE on this laptop? And where could I get media centre edition's recovery cd/dvd ? What is the procedure to install Media Centre Edition from recovery cd if I get one? And anyone would like to share their media centre edition recovery cd with me would be great.
pls contact me on this email address [email protected]
    Thank you very much (:

    Hi
In my opinion the only solution is to install Microsoft WMCE (full version). I dont believe that you will be able to get original recovery DVD because the hardware is bundled with software and you can just order the same if you lose one.
Like I said you can try to install full version but you must be careful because this unit support RAID and you must install RAID driver at the beginning. The Qosmio player should also be installed before you start to install MCE. Please check Qosmio area on this forum and you will find a lot of useful topics about Qosmio G20 installation.
    Use also option Advanced search.
    Good luck!

    windows media centre edition
    p4 3.2 terminator 2 rig

I would like to hook up this rig as the sole media role ie movies music
    (dont play game on it)
i am using the analogue connection with it at the moment as i cant find anyware that sells the digital phono to optical or coax adapter/converter ,so i can free up the analogue inputs on the speakers for the rest of my kit ie my sky box.
Any pointers as to the best way to proceed with this would be apreciated.

Sadly I do not have a TV Tuner Card. I run Windows Vista Home Premium (x64). It is also a custom computer I built. But based on the replies it's suggesting I need one? That a simple USB connection between the two will not be sufficient?
I dont think that your cable box can stream contents thru its USB ports, that wont work. Also check your video card s-video plug, most likely it's video out only (for TV monitor). You need some kind of input device for your pc to be able to connect it to your cable box, either a TV tuner card, a capture card (usb or pci card) etc.

  • Qosmio G20-108 - Outlook Express has stopped me deleting emails

Just recently my Microsoft Outlook Express has denied me the ability to delete emails with the inevitable result that my (already) crowded hard drive will clog up and die!! My machine is a *Qosmio G20-108*.
    I have been getting error messages on this software *" No: 0 x 800420CD " & "No: 800CCC0F"*
I also get +"Fatal Error"+ messages each time I open my computer saying this program will be terminated, which I "OK" as I've not opened anything ! This has been a feature for many months now.
Has anyone any hints for how I might overcome this?
    Thanks

    Hi desneill,
Im wondering that somebody still use Outlook Express at this time... There are many other good email programs
Anyway, it would be interesting to know which version of Outlook Express you are using and which operating system.
Try an update of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer as well
And think about another mail program, like Thunderbird ;)

  • I've installed ubuntu 11.04 on my hp pavillion media centre pc. No sound. Why

I,m dual booting my hp pavillion media centre pc withh ubuntu 11.04 and xp media centre edition. I can't get sound in ubuntu even though it correctly identifies the Creative audigy soundcard. Has anyone found a solution tothis problem.

I would make sure that both Media Player and Media Center are up-to-date and download and install the latest VLC Media Player. I would also download and install either Vista Codec Package (works with XP too) or K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.

  • Qosmio G20: Media Centre Receiver issue - Recovery question

As abvoe really, I usually leave my computer running overnight and yesterday I went on it to find that I had 80mb of hard drive space left (60 gig hard drive). Error messages had been popping up and a record of these was saved in the pchealth folder, under userdumps, or something like that. Anyway I deleted 58gigs worth of these userdumps but the same error message kept cropping up.
It was an error with the Media Centre Receiver, but I'm not sure entirely what this is, but it was based in the ehome folder which I think is located in the main Windows folder.
I've been into msconfig and stopped the ehhome.exe from starting at at startup but that seems to mess up the video/tv settings within Media Centre.
I recently installed codec's and a divx player to play divx movies.
I just wondered wether it would be safer to use the recovery CD and re-install windows and the software and create a restore point, then install the codecs again to see if the same problem arises, or whether anyone has had this problem and cured it.
Finally, I did actually run the recovery cd with a view to doing the above, but when the cd boots the first line in dos says something like, 'running setup for windows 98'. Surely XP is on the recovery cd and not 98?
Can anybody please confirm this for me and any answers to the above problems.
    Thanks.

    Hi Simon
Please dont panic. On recovery DVD there is definitely WXP MCE and if you see the first few words where is written Win98 that doesnt mean anything specially. If you use recovery media you will make clean OS installation.
Now to your problem: I didnt understood you right which problem you have but the fact is when you record the TV program all the night it is possible that the HDD will be full. In the best quality one hour recorded material needs about 12 GB (in my case). If it runs a few hours the HDD will be full.
It is not easy to give you any precise answers because we dont know anything about your personal settings and preinstalled software. I have also G20 and I can tell you definitely that all recorded content will not be saver under PCHEALTH folder. How it happen in your case I really dont know.
    Good luck!
