Qosmio G20: Qosmio Player and Tuner FM

I have seen a question about the tuner FM in the Qosmio G20 series (and other notebooks with Qosmio Player). Users have answered that Qosmio Player hasn't the tuner FM! This is wrong!
I have made a manual scan in Qosmio Player using the scan by frequency and it's possible to scan the range of frequency of the FM. So I have found some radio stations that I can save. The resolution is not the best but you can easily find some radio stations!

I agree with Togan. The units are delivered with different hardware configurations.
Therefore some units support a tuner and are delivered without the tuner.

    Reading all of the posts discussing tv tuner probs much is said about Qosmioplayer. Where is it? I have a G20 and have been trying to connect the tv via my tv in media centre. The software was factory loaded and I have a recovery disc for qosmioplayer, just not sure how to use it! Thanks for your help.

    Qosmio Player is installed on a hidden partition on your unit. If you would like to start the Qosmio Player the power should be set to off then you have to press the button with the TV symbol. (Monitor IN). But all useful informations about Qosmio Player and other functions you can fins in the User manual. Check this.

  • Error when MP3s read in Qosmio Player?

    Tried to play an mp3 DVD in Qosmio Player and I got an "invalid disc" error. Works fine in Media Player. Am I correct in thinking that for music Qosmio Player only plays CDs?

    I have checked the Qosmio user manual and it says Qosmio player is a quick play feature that enables users to perform TV, DVD and CD playback?.
    The user manual says nothing about MP3 compatibility. Maybe Jeffey means this text string. However, there is only a one user manual which is also preinstalled on the Qosmio units and the information is right.

    I wonder how on earth you know my first name ^^
    Well, i had the same issue when i wanted to upgrade the QP on my E10.
    Actually, i didn't do anything at all to resize the partition and whatnot. I just burned the iso and installed from there and it works just fine.
    At first, it was locking up when booting the PC with the new Qosmio Player and i went half crazy trying to reburn the iso, reinstall etc..
    In fact, it was something wrong with my bios. I put it back to factory settings, installed the new QP and to my extreme happiness it was finally working.
    So if you have an issue with the new QP locking at start up (unable to change input sources when "i" is pressed), just reset the Bios to factory settings, then install QP.
    Let me know how it goes.

  • Problem with New HDD and installation of Qosmio Player

    Hi All,
    Hope someone can help, I have had my Qosmio for 2 1/2 years now and recently had a problem with the hard disk. I decided to replace the hard disk as this was the quickest solution. The problem I have now is that I cannot receive TV on media center. I was trying to install qosmio player on the HDD to see if it made any difference but when I run the recovery disk supplied the software tells me that there is not enough disk space!!. The laptop came with a 60G hard disk and the new HDD made by the same manufacturer is a 150GB, can anyone help me out with this one would be appreciated.

    Sorry my previous entry was garbled. I upgraded the HDD to 120, could not get the Qosimo player to reload, same error, No space on HDD.
    I then upgraded to Vista and downloaded the new Vista Qosimo drivers, created the ISO image and booted from it. Still did not work.

    The Qosmio television part of my comuter only sets up analogue programs (4 of them). The windows media television works perfectly and tunes in to all (73 of them) free view digital programs.
    How can I get the Qosmio to tune to digital t.v. programs? The user manuals and online manual are silent on the tuning.

    Seems the Qosmio Player does not support the DVB-T.
    I found the information that the Qosmio Player Version's 4.3 and older does not support the DVB-T signal. The DVB-T signal can be only used within the Microsoft Operating System.
    Seems there is nothing to do! :(

    Living near Paris,I recently bought a QOSMIO G30-158 PC, with hybrid tuner, and although it is quite easy to watch digital tv programs with Windows Media Center, I do not understand why Qosmio Player can only watch analogic programs, but not digital programs (my Qosmio Player references are V4.4.1 built 2006030822) ? thank you to help me

    Yes youre right.
    The Qosmio player can be able to receive only the analogue TV signals and its not able handle the digital TV.
    If you want to watch the digital channels you have to use the MCE.
    A couple days ago I have found this info in the net but it was also not known to me.
    Now I know it and you too ;)

  • Have signal through Qosmio player, but cannot retrieve signal on WMC

    I must be half way there, but having connected my NTL cable box to the Qosmio and having taken advice to get my signal via the player and the F2 button, I cannot then retrieve the signal when in Windows Media Centre.
    As I am only interested in recording tv shows I really need to find a signal thru WMC. Please can anyone help as I find I never get the promised calls back from the technical support line. Oh I have followed all the instructions, but the scan through Windows Media Centre does not yield any signal.

    If you aren't impressed with the picture in Qosmio Player, then it is unlikely to be any better in Media Centre. Running the signal from the RF-out port of the NTL box is not going to give you the best picture.
    Do you have a spare scart port at the back of the box that you can use? If so, then it would be better to purchase a scart to composite (RCA) cable to make use of the monitor-in port on the Qosmio. The scart end goes into the NTL box and the composite end goes into the other adapter provided with the Qosmio, which then goes into the monitor-in port. This will give you a better signal. If your box outputs an S-Video signal, this would be even better. However, many boxes do not - you'd need to check the specs.
    If you have no option other than to use the RF-out port on the NTL box, then I would suggest setting the signal up manually in Media Centre and when you get the option to enter a channel, put in the one that your NTL box broadcasts its signal on. It sounds like the Qosmio player detected this channel when it scanned for it, so use that to see which channel it was. Failing that, check the user manual for your box.
    I would also suggest that you ensure that the latest TV tuner driver is installed and that you have all the latest Windows updates done.
    By the way, if opt for the scart to composite cable, make sure it is the "scart --> composite" type and NOT "composite --> scart". If you get a cable with the signal path the wrong way around, it won't work and you'll get no picture. Some cables are bi-directional with an in/out switch, which is ok.

    I bought Qosmio F10-100 and had a problem watching TV in MCE and Qosmio player both {no sound, b&w, poor quality}. Then I installed new version of TV tuner driver and solved MCE problem.
    Now I want to update Qosmio Player {no sound}, I downloaded it, but I read in readme file that it needs 200MBytes of unpartitioned hdd space. Can I install it without repartitioning my hdd? What will happen with current Qosmio Playerpartition {80MB}? Will I be able to see this old partition from Partition Magic ?

  • Qosmio G35: How to create Qosmio Player image CD

    Hello,
    I'm from Brazil and i have a Qosmio G35 AV600.
    A month ago, i deleted all my partitions and after i reinstalled the OS i realized that QosmioPlayer was missing.
    Searching the web i found out that i need the Qosmio Player Recovery CD to reinstall the linux based software.
    I called 10 times at the Toshiba Support Center, opened a ticket and all the times i have been informed that the
    International Consumer Relations would call me in 1hour.
    Anyway, can somebody help me creating an ISO (image) from the real CD and UPLOAD the image into a GMAIL account or somewhere else?

    Almost got it.
    I have downloaded your file MRG, burned into a disc, but when i tryied to install, the following message: "Your system does not support Qosmio Player" pop out into the window.
    What is the version of your Qosmio?
    I think that this version is not compatible to my G35 AV600.
    Can somebody, who have a Qosmio G35 series, could help me? Send me a QosmioPlayer Recovery CD nero image or iso image..

    I am considering buying an F30 as my Personal Video Recorder. I would like to run MythTV on it. If you have a Qosmio with a tuner you could help me decide by downloading MythTV and try it out. You do not have to install anything: Just download the iso-file, burn it to a CD (you can use http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/ if your software cannot burn ISO-files) and boot from it.

    I dont have a qosmio, have a Satellite A100, but I can tell you that mythTV distro runs very good on my machine, so, all hardware except the modem was recognized correctly. I am using an external tuner and didnt expect any problems with it, runs like hell. :)

    Hi all
    I can't install qosmioplayer on my G10-120.
    I downloaded the driver from the Toshiba C.S.
    when install it from the CDROM and I choose 1 for "Recover to initial state" the install displaies "No enough free space on the HDD. ..".
    My G10-120 has two HDD and I have unallocked 1200 MB in the second one with the "partition magic pgm"
    how can I install it? who can help me? thankyou.

    As far as I know on the HDD (by Qosmio G10 first HDD) should at least 100MB free space be available. This free space should be on the end of the HDD and it must be unallocated. Can you please try it again but this time on the first HDD?
    Partition magic is the perfect program to prepare HDD for Qosmio player installation. Please let us know if there is some success.

    On the Toshiba European driver page you can find the Qosmio Player Utility for Windows XP MCE (should run also with XP Pro) or OS independent version.
    Choosing Qosmio G30 (PGQ30) I found the Qosmio player for Win MCE v1.61 and OS independent version 4.4-200601112.
    Choosing the Qosmio G30 (PGQ32) I found the Qosmio player for Win MCE v1.70.
    I would recommend trying to install these utilities and check what version will work on you notebook.

    sorry, I have to tell that as far as I know the different models are country specific! At the Qosmio is that very important because you habe different TV standards in Europe. So a French machine could not work (as TV) in other countries!
    As far as I know it is not possible to change the recovery CD at a Service Partner without loosing the original CD.
    Sorry, but I don't know so much about the Qosmio player, but be carefull with updating!
