Qosmio G25: Vertical lines of stuck pixels

I have a huge problem with my Toshiba Qosmio G25:
My LCD screen has 2 lines of stuck pixels, one pixel wide, running from top to bottom. Before continuing I would like to stress that my computer has not had any physical trauma of any kind and generally is used like a desktop.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there any quick fix which I can handle on my own or is the only solution sending in the laptop for service? How are problems like this handled, will toshiba replace the screen or will they completely replace the computer? I would much rather prefer fixing this on my own with your suggestions as opposed to a lengthy wait on service.
All my schoolwork depends on my computer and I would be powerless without it for several weeks. Please if anyone has encountered this issue and resolved it, I would appreciate it if they could share their experience and knowledge.
Thanks for your time.

Hello Makaroni
It is not easy to say if this occurs because of LCD malfunction or even because of defective graphic card. You can check how it works with external monitor to see if the problem persists.
Anyway I dont believe you can do anything on your own especially if the graphic card or LCD display is defective. The hardware must be replaced. I know that it is very annoying but I recommend you to contact service in your country. Save all your data to USB memory stick and try to finish your work on some friends PC.

  • How to fix line of stuck pixels on ipod nano 4g?

Last week a vertical line of stuck grey pixels have been showing across the screen of my ipod nano 4g. None of the ipod's functions appear to be affected, but I was still wondering if there was a way to fix it because it's very noticable.

You can go to a Apple Store and ask them the question, perhaps, they can repare it.

  • Qosmio F10: vertical lines on screen

I am using a Qosmio F10 with a nVIDIA 128MB graphics card. Recently while i was running a graphics based application, my display started showing me wired colours on the screen. I was able to start the game once more but found the same problem to exist.
On restarting, the system was showing vertical white lines on the qosmio startup display, '*' on the bios password screen and green lines on the Windows XP loading screen. I was not able to start-up Windows. Thinking that it would be a S/W problem, I formatted it.
The problem still persists, and I still cannot load Windows XP.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my Laptop???

    Hi
This sound like a hardware malfunction and I suppose it could be something wrong with the graphic card or motherboard :(
But do the vertical lines appear on the external monitor? If yes, so it must be a board issue.
In such cases you have got not many possibilities. In my opinion you have to ask the service guys for the notebook check. The technicians from the service partner in your country could run some diagnostic tests and will give you more details about the malfunction.
    Good luck

  • Stuck Pixels after Installing iPhone 2.0.1 Update

Has anyone else noticed any new stuck pixels after installing the iPhone 2.0.1 update?
As you can see in the image linked to below, my 8GB iPhone 3G began displaying a stuck pixel in the upper-left immediately after installing the 2.0.1 update. At first, I figured that this was an average stuck pixel that coincidentally appeared immediately after applying the 2.0.1 update. However, after further examination, I don’t think that this is a normal stuck pixel.
    http://skitch.com/macmanx/1igt/stuck-pixel
A few hours later, my mother updated her 8GB 1st gen iPhone, and as you can see in the image linked to below, she now has a vertical line of stuck pixels in the same region as mine. Since her stuck pixels also appeared immediately after installing the 2.0.1 update, I’m beginning to think that my stuck pixel may not be an isolated issue.
    http://skitch.com/macmanx/1i88/stuck-pixels
I have tried to restore both iPhones, adjust the brightness, apply light pressure to the stuck pixels, and run the Knox Pixel Fix for iPhone. Neither method worked. To further complicate the issue, the stuck pixels appear to flicker when viewed through the LCD screen of my digital camera.
Stuck pixels are (as the name implies) stuck, they do not flicker. This, added to the fact that the issue occurred immediately after applying the 2.0.1 update, leads me to believe that this may actually be a software issue, possibly involving a conflict between the display drivers in the update and the display hardware shipped with certain iPhones.
If you have also noticed new stuck pixels after installing the 2.0.1 update, I'd love to hear that I'm not the only one seeing this. And, if you have somehow managed to resolve the issue, I'd love to know how you did it.

As already pointed out, "stuck pixels" are hardware related. They will be evident all the time, regardless of the particular screen being viewed. If they show only on particular screens, it isn't a dead pixel, but a software/ driver issue. I see a horizontal line in my Unlock Screen that I didn't notice before 2.0.1, but I'm not sure I really looked for it before. However, I don't see it in other screens with a black background such as the Home Screen, indicating it has something to do with the Unlock Screen image, and not the LCD pixels.

  • When i open my computer I get the white screen with apple symbol and there are vertical lines all over the screen with green pixels and after a few minutes the screen gets grey and I get message to restart my computer what happens

3 years ago I bought an IMac Desktop that I am using for a lot of things but the most important for dvd montage in Imovies and Idvd.
Now today when I opened my computer I get as usual the white screen with the Apple symbol but there were all over the screen vertical lines with green pixels and after a while the screen gets grey and I get message to restart my computer using the power button or the restart button and when I do so each time the same is happening somebody can tell me what is happening and what caused this. This computer is my work and now I have no income anymore.
On the Apple support site they are asking to enter the serial number and when I do so I get message it is wrong but it is the only one I have and I buy this computer in Cairo Egypt. I am living in Hurghada in Egypt for the moment. When I call the technical support of the shop where I buy it they are telling me that it is the hard disk or ram and that I probably lost everything on it and they are asking a big amount to repair.
Can somebody advise me on this matter. Thanks in advance

You can find the serial number either in About this Mc in the Menu bar under the , or it should be on a sticker under the foot of the machine.
If you have the install discs, try booting from them, holding down the c key and then using Disk Utility to check the drive.
You can also boot into Safe mode
To start up into Safe Mode (to "Safe Boot"), do this:
       1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
       2. Press the power button.
       3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
       4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.
    Please post back with results,
To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.

  • One pixel vertical line on new iMac 24" display - defective?

I have a one pixel vertical line that is fairly constant on my new (one week old) 24" iMac -- it sits there between the Edit and View mens mocking me, and runs the length (well, height) of the screen.
I've tried changing resolutions and resetting the SMC and neither seemed to do anything. My guess is it's defective, so I'm probably looking at a trip to our nearby Apple Store... the only thing is, I don't want to be without my computer for an extended period of time, since I use it for work and everything.
Is this the sort of thing that the Apple Store could order the new part and do the swap in house? If they replace the whole unit, could I put the existing HD in it? (of course the defect shows up right after I migrate and do all my upgrades, installs and patches)

I recently just had the LCD on my 24" imac replaced due to a stuck pixel. Without even bringing my imac into the apple store i told one of the genius bar associates about my problem and they ordered the LCD without even seeing my computer. They then called me when it came in and i took it down there for it to be replaced. I took it on a monday morning and i went and picked it up on tuesday. It is an in house repair so as long as they are not super busy you should not have to be without it for to long. I would try what i did, go in their without your imac first and tell them your issue and see if they will order the part. That way your not leaving your imac there while they order the part in.

  • IMac stays on boot screen with thick vertical lines (formerly pixelated diagonal lines)

I bought my refurbished imac in the summer of 2008.
I've scoured the internet trying to find a definite answer to my issue.
I was playing a game a couple of nights ago, when my computer screen flashed a couple of times, then froze.
I restarted my computer only to have weird diagonal (pixelated) lines running across my boot screen... and it wouldn't display my desktop... although I think I could manipulate things on my desktop. It just stuck on the boot screen with the loading animation.
I tried Safe mode, PRAM reset, inserting install disc, holding down D, holding down C... all to no avail. Except now, rather than diagonal lines, they are THICK multi-colored (black from a distance) vertical lines.
Some sites say it could be the GPU... I have an nVidia GeForce 8800 GT (or GS?)
Or it could be the BGA, Logic Board, a bad GPU connection (i don't see this as an issue because the computer has been stationary), or the screen.
I'm about to open it up myself and find out because I don't live near an Apple store.
This is the third apple product within 1 year that has died on me (1. iPod touch, 2. Airport extreme)... as much as I don't want to, I think I might return to using PCs because I've had my fully functional PC for more than a decade without problems. Am I just unlucky?
Please HELP... I am a web designer/programmer and I am without my work computer.

If you mean the CPU, not likely. You can try the Apple Hardware Test if you like, but it's usually a waste of time. A negative result means nothing. You'd need some combination of specialized software, test equipment, and non-public engineering data from Apple.

  • Qosmio G30-137 - Video card issue - the vertical lines bug

    Hi members,
today my Qosmio G30-137 started making troubles showing vertical lines which look like this:
After using product recovery disk Windows was unable to initiate first start and came up with a bluescreen with the error-code:
    +page fault in non-paged area STOP 0x00000050 (0xC09C3044, 0x00000000, 0X804DA90AA, 0X000000002)+
This basically indicates that memory - either RAM, L2-Cache or Videomemory died. But i also learned that the graphic card can be smoked.
After the blue screen you wont get the system into normal working condition, no matter what you try.
I would strongly advise to check if your Qosmio is under warranty and see your dealer for exchange. Fortunately i bought mine 2006/06/06 so its still under warranty (even if just a view days left).
Additional information: another member of this forum had a similar problem and reported that the whole motherboard has to be changed which causes cost of USD 700.00 and up!
I will let you know what i ended up with.
    BRgds
    The Q

Unfortunately, this sounds like a serious hardware issue as the other member suggested, the GPU (graphic card) could be faulty and therefore the replacement is necessary.
The point is that the GPU is soldered on the motherboard and its not possible to remove the graphic chip from the board. In most cases the whole motherboard must be replaced to solve such graphic problems.
In my opinion you should contact your ASP as fast as possible.
The technicians should be able to help you explain the whole situation and you issue and ask for the further handling.
    Good luck buddy

  • IPhone went bad after software update - iPhone 5 is now stuck on Itunes connect and has vertical lines

iPhone went bad after software update - iPhone 5 is now stuck on Itunes connect and has vertical lines.
I found a video on youtube with similar issues - http://youtu.be/Xuuqxx18-bA
EVERYTHING HAS BEEN TRIED: Restore, Reboot, Recycle, Replacing Cables, etc....
I don't have Apple Care, what to do? Spend more money and buy a new phone?

Here is another person who has a problem with the iPhone 5 screen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc1ZPWSA8dc and they have just received them NEW!!!!!
I myself, two days ago purchased a  2nd hand iPhone 5 that was advertised as having a line of squares at the bottom of the screen. I Googled it and found people saying it was a screen issue and to replace the screen, so I did this and it is still happening with a new screen.
I am starting to dislike Apple intensely after reading forum posts and watching videos where people are asking for help and telling us about issues that they are having with their phones.
Why is Apple getting it so wrong with their updates and manufacturing that they are completely destroying iPhones that cost a lot of money and then expecting the owner to purchase another phone unless they are still in warranty.
Apple you should be going out of your way to put things right for people but instead there is a wall of silence over so many of the issues destroying peoples phones.
    SHAME ON YOU!

  • Stuck Pixels - In Lines

I have had my iPod touch for a little over a year now, and I have had a few stuck pixels along the way, which normally go away. The other day I flicked on my touch, and there were 3 lines about 1/4" long (length wise) going horizontally across the screen. I'm headed to the Apple Store saturday, but does anyone know what they will say/do?

but does anyone know what they will say/do?
If you bought AppleCare for your touch you shouldn't have any problems. Since your touch is over a year old, if you DON'T have AppleCare, be VERY nice.
BTW, make sure to make an appointment before going to the Apple Store (you can do this on-line).

  • Qosmio G10 has vertical lines on the display

I've got a G10 which I've been using quite happily for the last 15 months since I bought it.
However, it's now got 4 vertical lines on the display, 2 purple (magenta?), 1 yellow and 1 cyan. Other than these lines there are no other problems, it's never crashed or anything like that.
The lines are always there, they never change in any way and are always in the same place. They appear on the display at very first powerup, before the Qosmio logo comes on.
They didn't all appear at the same time, they have all appeared individually over the last two months. I did see the last one disappear briefly, then stay on.
I'm assuming my display is slowly dying, which I would assume to be an expensive item.
Any advice thrown my way would be much appreciated!
I took a picture of the screen which you can find at:
    http://www.imagebucket.net/images/lldata/displaylines.jpg
Note: picture was taken with Media Player fullscreen on a black image, just to show up the lines clearly)

    Hi
I would suggest connecting an external display to check if it's a graphic card or a display problem. If this lines appears also on the external display so there could be also something wrong with the graphic card.
If these lines don't appear on the external monitor so only the notebook display has a malfunction.
However, this doesn't change anything on your situation. I would recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for solving this issue.

  • Pb G4 1.67Ghz running OS 10.4, right side of the screen 2, pixel wide vertical lines, a few days later colors posterized on pics and vid. Vertical lines don't show screen capture, but pics still posterized. Hardware test from disk shows ok.

Right side of screen started showing 2, pixel wide vertical lines. A few day later colors in pics and vid posterized. Vertical lines don't show in screen capture but pics still bad. Ran hardware test from disk, ok, adjusted color in sys prefs, new profiles a bit better but still bad, mpeg worse, jpeg bad. No better in new user account. Now a month later, right side has 8 vert lines and occasionally a slightly darker area in bottom corners for a few seconds. Reset pram, battery plugged into adaptor 99%. I can notice, for a slit second, when the screen saver is on, when I move cursor to get back to desktop, true color of  image can be seen for a flash of a second.

sorry, was in a rush, any suggestions to fix or ideas of what has gone wrong

  • Use 40 black 1 pixel x 400 pixel vertical lines, and create an experimental composition using varying vertical spacing?

Ive been pulling my hair out on how to do this all day and im getting no where i dont even know where to begin! Please help if anyone knows how to do this.

    enforcer4u,
she said posting here if help was needed was a good idea...
This is Classroom in a forum.
I believe the first line should have read Use 40 black 1 pixel x 400 pixel vertical lines, and create an experimental composition using varying vertical > horizontal spacing.
One way (she may be following this thread, you know) would be to:
    1) create a horizontal/vertical (composition Three/Four) line with the Pen Tool with a length corresponding to the whole composition and two or more Anchor Points, ShiftClickDragging at each with different lengths of the Handles;
    2) Create a vertical/horizontal line by ClickDragging with the Line Tool (or just Click with the Line Tool and set the Length and direction, then move a copy (ShiftAlt/OptionDrag the original, start dragging a tiny bit before you press the keys);
    3) Object>Blend>Blend Options, set Spacing to Specified Steps, 38 steps;
    4) Select the lines from 2) and Object>Blend>Make;
    5) Select both the Blend from 4) and the line from 1) and Object>Blend>Replace Spine.
Other ways include creating the first line and then ShiftAlt/OptionDragging to create the other lines up/down/left/right depending on composition, or creating or all the lines (maybe using the blend) and then ShiftClickDragging individual lines.

  • Qosmio G15: green vertical lines on the screen

It all started one regular day when I was playing music on my iTunes.
Suddenly my screen went black and the music stopped, but my power button was still blue. Ever since then, whenever I try to start it, it goes on the Qosmio screen and the Windows XP screen and plays the start-up sound, but it has all these green vertical lines on the screen. And then it goes black and tsays that way.
I have been able to use Windows VGA (whatever that means) with lines all over the screen, but I am not able to start it up normally. Does anyone have any suggestions or have had the same problem??? Please help me!!!
I have a Toshiba G15 Windows XP Media Centre, but am not able to use it normally!

Hello, This problem happens to me two weeks ago. I have a F10 and the warranty expired 3 months ago. I rarely use my laptop. Talked to a well known local store rep. He said there was a specculation on F10 as it was discontinous after a year of release. I agree that well known company like Toshiba should operate like Car companies and be honest on their products. Specially high end product like this.
I was not informed about extended warranty when I bought it as the local store just want to sell and sell and move on. One of the regional store which represents Toshiba to repair all Laptop, said They are only allowed to fix all laptops except Qosmios models. They have to sent it to Toshiba.
