Qosmio G30: Does Qosmio Player support DVB-T?

The Qosmio television part of my comuter only sets up analogue programs (4 of them). The windows media television works perfectly and tunes in to all (73 of them) free view digital programs.
How can I get the Qosmio to tune to digital t.v. programs? The user manuals and online manual are silent on the tuning.

Hi
Seems the Qosmio Player does not support the DVB-T.
I found the information that the Qosmio Player Version's 4.3 and older does not support the DVB-T signal. The DVB-T signal can be only used within the Microsoft Operating System.
Seems there is nothing to do! :(

  • Qosmio G30-117: HD DVD support?

I have bought qosmio G30-117.Does it play HD DVD discs?.If not can I play HD DVD discs making firmware update?
    Message was edited by: dr.amon

    Hi Dr.amon
I think your mistaken mate. As far as I'm aware, the only model that can play hd-dvd's is the G30-163, and it's not available yet. This model will only read hd discs, not write to them. The Toshiba website says it's available, yet all it's retail outlets say it's not. I've emailed sales to find a release date, but they don't bother replying.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Does Flash Player support 4:2:2 chroma subsampling?

Just a quick question I can't seem to find a definitive answer on...

Here's what I've heard back from our video team:
H.264 does support it, and I believe Mainconcept can handle it too, so we should be supporting it already
    Hope that helps,

  • Does DVD player support PAL and foreign dvd's?

I am debating on whether or not to purchase a Dvd on ebay because it is in PAL format and I don't know what that means. Will my regular U.S. dvd player be able to play the movie? And will the dvd player application on this computer (i have dvd player version 4.0)?
    Thank You

    Thanks David,
So, England uses PAL too. Now I know. Where is England anyway? Isn't that an American colony? Or is it an island just north of Australia? - Just playing with ya David We won't talk about the cricket either!
    Steven,
You have five chances of changing the region settings on your Mac drive. After that it is locked at that region setting forever. As I said before, America uses NTSC, so your locally bought DVDs will not play on that player unless it supports NTSC playback. If it is region free then there is no issue with regions, but it must have NTSC playback or it is useless in the states.

  • Qosmio G30-194 support the sata2?

    Hi All,
I have a Qosmio G30-194 laptop.I would like to buy a Intel ssd,but for the ssd need SATA 2 support.Because just SATA 300 when the ssd works the right speed.I mean 250Mb/s read. The SATA 1 only works max.150MB/s.So my questions is my laptop support SATA2?
    Thank you for help.
    Kornel

    Hi
As far as I know the Qosmio G30-194 HDD controller supports simple SATA (150mbps).
I dont know what specification does the SSD needs but for example the SATA2 HDDs can be used because the SATA is down compatible.
However, if the SSD needs the SATA2 (300mbps) controller then there could be an issue

  • Re: Qosmio G30-129 supports 8GB RAM?

    Hi,
    I have a Qosmio G30-219, will this support the 2 x 4 GB - SO DIMM 200-pin - DDR2 (667 MHz)?
The reason I ask is that the tech.spec. states max 4 Gig RAM and 533 MHz, I just wondered if it would work :-) (since the spec. probably was written long time before the 4GB RAM chips were available).

    Hi!
Two Memory modules can be installed to provide a maximum of 4GB.
So 8GB are not possible on this notebook.

  • Qosmio G30: Sony MV cam doesn't work with IEEE 1394 port

Qosmio G30-117 doesn't support my Sony DCR-IP5E (a micro video cam) through ieee 1394 port. I have tried to use pinnaccle studio 9 and ulead video studio 10, but I couldn't see my cam through these programs.
There is no problem if I install a new win xp media center edition (retail pack) and the drivers from CDTOOLS. But I want to use my factory setup of Qosmio,I don't want to buy a new win xp media center edition.
How can I resolve this problem?
    Thanks everybody.

    Hi,
I had the same problem with my Sony-Handycam. It is not a problem of the Qosmio but of XP SP2 and the new driver for msdv.sys.
Workaround to bring this driver back to SP1 (please follow instructions strictly):
You need msdv.sys from a SP1. It may be on your computer, if it was installed with SP 1 before.
Otherwise, you have to get it from someone else.
Remove Camera from Device Manager, if it has been shown anytime (look also for hidden devices)
Reboot in secure mode (F8 while starting) and login as admin.
Navigate to \Windows\Driver Cache\i386. Find the file "driver.cab" and open it.
In the cab find "msdv.sys" and expand it to your desktop. The version must be less than 5.3.2600.2180.
(If you installed native XP with SP2, you have to use the file, you got from someone else instead)
Copy the files in this folders, if available:
    Windows\system32\drivers
    Windows\system32\dllcache
    Windows\LastGood\System32\Drivers
(Maybe you want to rename the original files before)
Change to Windows\Driver Cache\i386 an search for sp2.cab.
Rename it to sp2.old and reboot.
    Your camera should work now.
If not, change the file avc.sys in the same way. You will find it in sp1.cab or have to get it from someone else.
I solved the problem this way on my last notebook and on my qosmio.

  • Qosmio G30-189 BIOS Update to support Intel Core 2 Duo ( MEROM )

    Hello !
Can you tell when Toshiba will release a BIOS Update to support the new intel core 2 duo mobile cpu.
The actual BIOS 1.4 does not recognize the new cpu type.
As Toshiba delivers a core 2 duo based qosmio in USA G35-650 a bios should be availble.
For sure I now that this makes the gurantee go away.
    Please help.
    Greetings
    Marcus Reichert

Hmm, yes sure - i work in IT and I think I repaired 5000 notebooks ... I am certainly not mad at you !
I am happy that anyone answeres me ....
So, I have here an Qosmio G30-145 and the G30-189 - they are absolutely identical.
Only the Video Ram is smaller and a different CPU is inserted.
In the US there is the G35-650 - also nearly the same - and this uses a creo 2 duo.
Be sure Toshiba will not build different units - they just change the name and include some minor changes to config ( pal and ntsc etc. )
You will be sure to see a G30 with Core 2 Duo very soon here in europe or germany and then bang - it will be the same hardware with a different bios - I BET !!!
Yes, I know the power Saving Tool and I agree with you in all points.
BUT windows XP, Linux and Vista do also habe power schemes and controll the fans - the Toshiba tolls adds only more features.
I think the actual bios accepts now the core 2 duo, but still has problems with the power scheme - Intel says the CPUs are nearly comaptible.
I have tested Core 2 Duos, Asus and other - no problem at all.
I think if we wait we get a bios which fixes all, problem is I need it know.
    Have a nice weekend
    Marcus

  • Windows Vista 64 Bit and Button Support - Qosmio G30?

Windows Vista 64 Bit and Button Support?

Everybody claiming that Vista x64 (or Ultimate) can't be used with FN keys or Flash Cards is utterly wrong!
I have a Qosmio G30 running Vista x64 Ultimate, and have both FN keys, Toshiba Flash Cards and (partly) the hardware buttons at the top working.
After a lot of research, I found that Toshiba has released a 64-bit version of VAP called util_tvap_27581D. If you google it, you might discover it...

  • Qosmio G30-158: Is it possible to watch digital TV with Qosmio Player?

Living near Paris,I recently bought a QOSMIO G30-158 PC, with hybrid tuner, and although it is quite easy to watch digital tv programs with Windows Media Center, I do not understand why Qosmio Player can only watch analogic programs, but not digital programs (my Qosmio Player references are V4.4.1 built 2006030822) ? thank you to help me
    alain

    Hi
    Yes youre right.
The Qosmio player can be able to receive only the analogue TV signals and its not able handle the digital TV.
If you want to watch the digital channels you have to use the MCE.
A couple days ago I have found this info in the net but it was also not known to me.
Now I know it and you too ;)

  • Qosmio G30-E10: No Playback of DVD`s with "Toshiba HD DVD Player"

    Hi all,
If I try to playback a normal DVD (not a HD-DVD) with the Toshiba HD-DVD Player Software, I get the following message from the HD-DVD Player:
"This player has no DVD Playbackfunction. Please try an appropriate application for DVD playback"
HD-DVD Drive has current firmware. HD-DVD Player is on current patchlevel 4.20.16.
DVD-Playback with InterVideo WinDVD works fine!
Notebook is a Qosmio G30-E10, with Vista Ultimate (Factory standard).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sincerely

    Hello
Have you ever ask yourself why Toshiba install two players on this HD-DVD notebook? Probably not.
With short words: HD-DVD player is designed for playing HD-DVD movies only. For watching usual DVD movies use DVD player. For this purposes use WinDVD player.
Bye and enjoy your great Qosmio notebook.

  • Qosmio G30: How to install Qosmio player on Win XP?

I bought a new G30 with Vista Ultimate inside. Many applications and devices not run on Vista and I decide to do a migration to XP PRO. Windows working excellent but....... how to install Qosmioplayer on XP PRO (working TV and rest buttons ) .
I have many Qosmioplayer recovery CD (from toshiba ftp ) but all give me message: Recovery is not for this system? There is version on XP PRO?

    Hi
On the Toshiba European driver page you can find the Qosmio Player Utility for Windows XP MCE (should run also with XP Pro) or OS independent version.
Choosing Qosmio G30 (PGQ30) I found the Qosmio player for Win MCE v1.61 and OS independent version 4.4-200601112.
Choosing the Qosmio G30 (PGQ32) I found the Qosmio player for Win MCE v1.70.
I would recommend trying to install these utilities and check what version will work on you notebook.

  • Qosmio G30-116: How to connect the Sky Digital box to watch TV?

I just recently purchased the Qosmio G30-116 on the understanding that I can connect my Sky digital to the laptop (somehow) and watch and record sky on the laptop
    * note: I am not using freeview or normal TV I am using SKY DIGITAL *
usint the supplied converter cable to connect to the video-in on the laptop (video in is like a headfone jack and the converter converts from this to female RCA)
I have plugged it into the laptop then connect a 3 RCA to SCART to it and then into the sky box, when setting up the TV section in Windows Media Centre I follow the instructions until it gets to the point where it scans for a signal, (previous to that I get asked what kind of signal I receive, I select digital but have tried all combinations,) but it doesn't find a signal.
Now I have been told that Windows Media Centre does not support Analogue input and that the connection between the sky box and the laptop is analogue.
Is this correct or not? then, while typing this I have been told by someone else that my laptop is not capable of receiveing SKY DIGITAl as it can't decode it or something. Is this also correct? If not, what am I doing wrong and can anyone help me get this going? And have I been going about this the right way or am I totally up the wrong path if laptop is capable of it?

    To start qosmio player
1.switch off computer using on/off blue lit on/off button to close windows operation.
2.make sure that the computer/windows is switch off
3.Now Touch the TV icon (Blue lit button)only or the DVD player ICOn (blue lit button)only. WITHOUT USING THE USUAL ON/OFF SWITCH
4.The qosmio player/engine will switch on instantly without booting windows.
5.TV will launch within 8 seconds and the same for DVD player
6.Pres F1 or F2 for further functions such as screen size,audio,forward.rewind.pause scanning the TV channnels (auto or manual)
7.You can do the same i.e open the qosmio player/TV with the supplied Toshiba/qosmio remote pressing the Live TV button ONLY for instant TV on or DVD menu ONLY for instant DVD player/CD player on WITHOUT USING THE ON/OFF SWITCH ON THE REMOTE.That is very much similar to a standard TV remote just press the TV or dvd menu .
8.If you touch the same icon buttons i.e TV and dvd player during the standard computer usage /windows operating system,IT WILL LAUNCH THE MEDIA CENTER BY DEFAULT.that's what happen to you!
I use the remote from my bed before going to sleep and the same from bed to watch early morning TV news
Qosmio is excellent for the versatility!
    Enjoy

  • QosmioPlayer needed for Qosmio G30-177

I've just bought a Qosmio G30-177 from a friend, but it's not a brandnew laptop
and this is my problem. My Lappy cannot using QosmioPlayer , when my lappy turn off i press one of the 11 AV button but my lappy doesn't start QosmioPlayer , instead of that it go to window Vista. After researching by myseft on this forum , i think that is because i don't have a partition for QosmioPlayer on my lappy and i don't have a Media recovery disc .
So i write this thread to ask for some advice.
Because i live in Vietnam so it's not easy for my to order a recovery disc from Toshiba service , so does anyone know how to download an ISO file of that disc?
    thanks

    Hi
WinRE partition belongs to the Vista OS. Usually the partition is hidden and its needed only for the Vista backup files.
Vista supports an own reparation option and if something will go wrong with your OS, you could use such option to repair the OS. In such case Vista will use the files which are stored on the WinRE partition.
    _Regarding the Qosmio Player issue;_
The point is that you will need an original Toshiba Recovery disk if you want to use the Qosmio Player.
Without recovery disk you will be not able to use this tool.
On the Toshiba page you can find the Qosmio player. Its in the Win MCE download area.
This is a ISO image and you can burn it and create a Qosmio Player recovery CD.
You will have to install firstly the Qosmio player booting from this disk.
This will install the Qosmio player on the HDD.
After you have finished the Qosmio player installation you should use the Toshiba recovery to install the Windows operating system.

  • Few issues with Qosmio G30-179 - remote and TV

Hello, (I'm French and my English is bad)
I have a Qosmio G30-179 and I can't use my remote when the computer is power on. But I can use the remote for turn power on my computer and I can use it when I use the TV or Media buttons (at the right of the power button.)
Other problem: I don't receive anything when I seek a TV signal on Media player. Even if I'm in a place where I've already receive all TV channels. Maybe there are others problems undetected...
All these functions have already worked and I realized they don't work little time ago. But I didn't use them for a long time ago, since I received my computer when it returned guarantee (I send it because it had a problem at RAM bars.)
Then I think there was a problem with the support service. But I'm not sure.
What do you think about it? Must I call them?
Or this problem can be resolve easily?
    Thank you in advance.

    > All these functions have already worked and I
    > realized they don't work little time ago. But I
    > didn't use them for a long time ago,
If all those functions are worked before I recommend you to use delivered recovery DVD and install OS again. After doing this your notebook will have factory settings again and, I hope, everything should work again as before.
    Try it!
