*Qosmio G50 No sound over HDMI*
    Hi all,
Hopefully anyone recognises the following and would be so kind to help me. I have searched the forum and tried severall of the offered solutions mainly applicable to Vista, but still.
I hooked up my Qosmio G50 to my Philips LCD by HDMI cable. Picture is ok but there is no sound. I tested the cable with a Toshiba Satelite Pro L550 and it works allright. Picture and Sound are working. But that laptop has Intel HDMI audio.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I upgraded by Toshiba update DVD from Vista 64 bit. Sadly I do not know for sure if HDMI audio did work before that. I think so because I did use the laptop for watching a movie on a Panasonic plasma. But I can not remember if that was before or after the upgrade.
Realtek HD Audio device is installed driver version 6.0.1.5923
Realtek HDMI Output is selected als default playback device.
Testing gives me graphical response ( the indicator flashes ) but no audible sound from my tv.
Choosing the other audio device Realtek Digital output changes nothing and I do not believe that this would work anyway.
I have tried removing the device and reinstalling the original drivers. I have tried REaltek drivers from their website.
I have tried changing the view to HDMI only but that does nog change anything either.
One thing that worries me is that under Sound / Realtek HDMI Output / properties / Supported Formats there are no formats present. The Satelite gives me DTS audio and some other. So I am wondering if there should be formats present and if so how can I change this / add any.
Please forgive me if there are errors in the text. I am translating this from a dutch language version of Windows 7.
Please help me. Any suggestions are welcome!

Jeka-?? & PinkPanther thanks for your replies!
The solution for the G30 you mention is not the one for me I am sorry to say. I have tried that one allready. Windows automatically switches on the HDMI audio out when I connect an HDMI cable. Connecting the cable before switching on the TV and laptop is a good thing to try because it eliminates possible problems with the connection. The connection in my case is ok.
At some point I concluded that there must be a softwareproblem of some sort.
I have found the solution over night. Could not sleep anyway. I did not know that the videodrivers are also handling HDMI audio out but in a way it makes sense. I have completely deinstalled the NVIDIA video drivers. After downloading the latest drivers and installing them everything works absolutely fine!

  • Qosmio G30 - external screen via HDMI connection - bad resolution

Hi! This problem is driving me crazy, please help if you can...
I have just bought a G30-102 and I'm trying to use it with an external screen via the HDMI connection. The problem I'm having is that the native resolution of 1920x1200 cuts off the edges of the desktop and the quality looks terrible - its almost like the whole screen is zoomed in. I tried this with a BenQ FP241wz at first (which is 1080i 1920x1200) and the Toshiba helpline couldn't find a solution either - even after painfully reinstalling all of the drivers etc.
Its been going on for so long, I thought that I would try it out with my HDTV instead, just to be sure it wasn't a monitor issue. So I tried it with my Toshiba 32WLT66 - and have just found that it has exactly the same problem.
All of the display settings appear to be correct and the G30 is convinced that the output is correct, so the question I have now is - do you think that its a problem with my HDMI port?
Please help, I'm a designer and it is essential that I use the machine on a large screen. If this is a problem with the G30 hardware I need to talk to Toshiba immediately about replacing or fixing it.

Hi - thanks for the reply!
My BIOS doesn't allow me to choose much for the display - just between PAL and NTSC really.`As for the document, thanks for the link - unfortunately though there wasn't anything in it that I haven't already tried.
What would be the most obvious thing that could be wrong? Faulty port? Faulty card? Or could it even be as simple as a faulty HDMI lead?

  • Qosmio G30-126 Sound drivers for win XP

I install Win XP to the second disk win xp Professional but i could not found drivers for thw sound system What can i do?? I have to install Win XP MCE????

    Hi
This sounds very strange and implausible because the driver XP MCE should definitely works with XP Pro. But try another hint:
Remove the old sound driver, download the sound driver for the Vista and try to install it.
In some cases the Vista sound driver works with XP. Check it out and please report the results its interesting.

  • Qosmio G30 - No sound

This may have been answered before but I've lost sound on my Q30. There's no volume control. I've re-installed the SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec which Device Manager then reports as working correctly. All the other audio drivers seem to be installed and working. But in Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, No Audio Device.
Toshiba's Help & Support Center suggests that there is no mixer devices available: and to install those, go to Control Panel ...
_BUT_ if I am to add hardware, what I am meant to install? All the relevant audio devices seem to be there already. Am I missing something?
    So what next?

Many thanks. I've updated the BIOS. Unfortunately that hasn't helped as regards the lack of sound. And the SigmaTel HD Audio Codec _is_ the latest version as downloaded from Toshiba's website.
To recap, all the various audio devices/codecs etc are reported as working correctly. But when I look at Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices, the Volume Tab tells me that there is no audio device. Looking at the Hardware Tab, and the troubleshooting the SigmaTel codec, the Help and Support troubleshooting dialogue pops up and when I get to Open Volume Control on the 3rd page, that's when another message appears as follows:-
    *+Volume Control+*
+There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, Click Printers and other Hardware, then click Add Hardware+
    +The program will now close.+
That's where I get a problem. *_What hardware am I supposed to be adding?_* And just to muddy the waters, my Control Panel has Printers and Faxes, not "other Hardware". Clicking the alternative "Add Hardware" yields an array of possibilities but nothing that looks remotely like a 'mixer'. What device is that?
The Volume Control icon incidentally does not appear in the System Tray and double clicking C:\WINDOWS\system32\sndvol32.exe produces the same message above.
I'm really PC literate but this one has me stumped for the moment

  • Qosmio G30-10B Virtual Sound Toshiba driver (for Windows XP)

    Hello,
There is a driver listed at the Qosmio G30-10B Win-XP drivers page, with the following data:
    - 09/07/07 Virtual Sound Toshiba Windows XP 1.03.17 World Wide
This driver is listed only in the Win-XP drivers page, and it is not listed in the Win-XP MCE drivers page.
Does anyone know what is it for, and if I should install it on my fresh dual-boot Win-XP Pro installation?
    Thanks in advance,
    Y

    Hi,
since all Windows XP version are the same operating system just with slightly modifications on the shipped software you dont have to worry when installing the driver.
It would work without problems because XP MCE is just a XP with some more optional software from microsoft integrated in the system.
Its like you take a XP and install a 3rd party media center software on it.
Feel free to install the driver, it should work flawless.
    Greet

  • Qosmio G30-126: how to connect analog TV and satellite TV simultaneously

Hi, I have a Qosmio G30-126 and have a problem with simultaneous receiving analog TV (by TV-in port in built-in TV tuner) and satellite channels from satellite set-top-box (by AV-in ports).
I can programm Windows Media Center for analog TV (but without satellite STB) by antenna TV-in port and it works perfectly.
I can programm Windows Media Center for digital channels from satellite STB (but without analog TV) by AV-in ports and it works perfectly.
But i can't program Windows Media Center for both analog TV i satellite STB, because during programming WMC forces me to choose between analog TV or satellite decoder and doesn't allow me to choose two signal sources.
For me it is a big problem, because I have cable TV (analog) and satellite STB with digital channels. And I want to watch on my Qosmio all channels.
    Could anyone help me?

    >... because during programming WMC forces me to choose between analog TV or satellite decoder and doesn't allow me to choose two signal sources.
I think in this statement you answered your question. I had Qosmio G30 long time ago and i also know that WMC cannot handle with two signal sources at the same time.
To confirm this contact Microsoft and ask them. I mean they have designed WMC and know how it works exactly.
Toshiba has just offered proper hardware (TV tuner) to offer TV option on this notebook.

  • Qosmio G30 freezes upon Norton Internet Security 2008 startup

Norton Internet Security 2008 will freeze my computer as soon it tries to load and the only way to go on is to restart the system by pressing the on/off-button.
My notebook is a Toshiba Qosmio G30-177 (Model No. PQG32E-02G022GR) with Vista Ultimate and NIS2007 pre-installed. I have no problems with this NIS2008 version on my other notebook (Qosmio F10 - PQF10E-02300JGR, WinXP MCE).
NIS2007 runs fine on my G30 and I do not have any problems at all, but newer versions of NIS seem to get in conflict with my system:
    1. I am able to install and run the new version, download all updates and adjust the settings. Maybe one or two days later my computer will freeze after start exactly when the tray icon of NIS appears. For a couple of seconds there is just no response of the system at all and the LED's of my notebook show that all HD activity has stopped. After being idle for these couple of seconds, the cooling fan will start to operate at maximum power, creating a tremendous noise I never experienced before, not even while the CPU was running at 100% for some time due to other programs. Forcing a restart is all I can do.
    2. Now this time, I successfully restarted my notebook again (took some attempts) and it suddenly did not freeze. Then I disabled firewall and auto-protect permanently, so there was no freezing upon startup and I just had to manually activate both firewall and auto-protect after start. In order to prevent freezing again after reboot, I always disabled NIS before shutdown. For the next one or two days this workaround was quite successful.
    3. All of a sudden, after one or two days, this workaround is going to become useless, because the system starts to freeze again at the very moment the tray icon appears. In this case, restarting has no effect at all, and NIS will continue to freeze at startup. I also tried to prevent NIS form starting by no longer allowing ccApp.exe to automatically run upon start (administrative tools > system configuration > "startup" tab). This is successful and my notebook is able to start normally, but if I later try to start NIS manually, it will freeze again.
I had this problem since NIS2008 was just released, so I thought that meanwhile a Windows or Norton update might have fixed the issue, but this weekend I gave NIS2008 another try without success. I am almost sure that the problem is not caused by any other software than Windows and/or Norton, because I also tried to install NIS after a full system recovery, thus having only pre-installed NIS2007 and Vista on my notebook. I did use the Norton removal tool and followed the deinstall instructions before trying to install the newer version of course.
My last hope was that the NIS2009beta version somehow would not freeze my system, but it does. It does not matter if I try to run 2008 or 2009beta version, the problem is exactly the same.
What really drives me almost crazy is the fact that NIS runs perfectly for some time, then needs a rather small workaround, and then after some time totally refuses to work. In these couple of days I did not change any system settings, install or deinstall any programs or did anything that I felt could conflict with NIS...
So far, I have no idea of a solution and have to use NIS2007 again.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

    Hi !
I use NIS since 2001 and never had any serious trouble with this software.
There could be some compatibility problem, but I don't think that Vista is causing it, because otherwise a lot more people should have the same problem. Even the installation of all current Windows, NIS and Qosmio updates did not solve it. Of course I tried to get help using Symantec's Support and their user forums, but without success. This problem seems to be a rare one (unfortunately for me). I tested the NIS2009beta and even though it's a new version, the PC freezes again when this program starts. And this made me think that maybe a service or setup by Toshiba causes the problem and other Vista users are not affected. It's a strange thing that the pre-installed NIS2007 version is running fine...
    Cheers,
    Mario

  • Z97M GAMING no hdmi signal with DVI converter

My monitor has VGA/DVI only (Samsung SyncMaster 213T), I have a HDMI to DVI converter in the DVI port, this works with the HDMI out from my laptop.
Am putting together a Z97M/4790K rig. I get no signal at the monitor from the Z97M's HDMI out, if I connect it to a TV I do get a signal.
Am using the same (short) HDMI cable and adaptor with both the laptop and the new Z79M, used the same cable to connect the Z79M to the TV.
So the cable and converter are good (they work with the laptop) and the Z79M HDMI port and cable are good with the TV.
Anyone have any idea why the Z97M HDMI output wont display on my monitor? (Any bios settings to make the HDMI signal more compatable?)

Yes, to be clear, there is no GPU. When I say the Z97M's HDMI out I mean the output from the Z97M motherboard. I have tried it with a second screen, the TV (it worked).
Logically one of two things must be happening... either the Z97M's HDMI signal isn't making it through the DVI/HDMI adaptor (when the laptop's signal is), or the monitor cannot process the Z97M's HDMI signal (when it can process the laptop's).
HDMI and DVI signals are the same, so the adaptor is just a plug converter ('square plug in round hole') and unlikely to be the issue, especially as it works with the laptop.
But both the monitor and laptop (which work together with HDMI and the DVI converter) are >5 years old. The Z97M is very new and could be it's HDMI output just isn't compatable in some way with the (relatively) old monitor.
Hence am wondering (for example) if there are any Z97M bios settings which might make it talk nicely to the old monitor.
Be interested to hear if anyone has had issues (or even success!) using the HDMI out with DVI monitors, especially old Samsung SyncMasters ?

  • Will the Core 2 Duo CPU work on the Qosmio G30?

    Question is as follow:
In 2 months Intel will come up with Core 2 Duo/merom cpu for laptop.
Will then todays toshiba qosmio laptop support these processors for an upgrade ?
And wonder in general how much can be upgraded with toshiba laptop's?
Like if I want to have e-sata on this laptop. Maybe not supported by chipset ?

As you know this is a user-to-user forum and I don?t think that you will find somebody from Toshiba here.
However, this is my own opinion and this could be one of the reasons. I agree with you that duo core 2 CPU supports less power and generate less heat but more or less this are also properties of the intel duo core CPUs.
But I think that in the future the duo core 2 CPU will supports a higher speed as the duo core and I think the temp will also increases.
You know that the notebooks technology is different as the desktop technology and it's more difficult to upgrade the parts on the notebook as on the desktop pc. Some CPUs are also soldered on the board. (but I'm not sure about Qosmio) But if you will be able to remove it and to upgrade the CPU so then you could get some problems with BIOS and also software (chipset utility?). Maybe this could have a bad influence on the drivers and utilities.
As you see there are more factors as only the temperature. Everything must be compatible. I think the Qosmio G30 is a very nice notebook with really good performance. I think the CPU upgrade is not necessary because you will not get much more performance as with the core duo CPU.

  • No sound through the HDMI connector using Qosmio G30-201 & Vista

I am getting no sound through the HDMI connector using VISta.
I have XP and Vista on my laptop.
When i boot into Xp I can get the sound to come through the television but when I boot into vista I have no sound coming through.
I have just reloaded both partions with Xp and vista so it is a fresh install on both and it is still doing the same thing.

There is a nice an useful Toshiba FAQ about this issue!
[Unable to hear audio over an HDMI connection on a Qosmio G30 in Windows Vista|http://209.167.114.38/support/techsupport/tsbs/all/-TSB001400.htm]
I found it on the Toshiba Australian site.
    I would appreciate your feedback

  • No sound watching TV on Qosmio G30 with WinXP Pro

I have a Qosmio G30 and was forced to install XP PRO because of the network at work. My IT support managed to get all the drivers installed, and everything seems to work fine. The only issue I'got is that I have no sound when watching TV. Either in Qosmio player or WinDVR.
In device manager, the sounddrivers appears as "old sounddriver" and "old videodrivers", is it the same in XP MCE version?
Can some of you that has installed XP PRO please help me?

    Hi
Did you check the Toshiba driver page?
I checked this page and found out that 3 different Qosmio G30 drivers exist on the page.
Firstly, you should choose the right unit.
Secondly if you install the drivers manually you should check the installation instruction document from this site and you have to follow this guide line.
Furthermore I didnt find any drivers especially for the WinXP Pro but only for WinXP MCE but I presume that these drivers will work also with XP.
Anyway, mostly the TV sound problems happen because of wrong PAL/SECAM settings.
    Please check additionally these options.
