Qosmio G30 - S-video in and Video undetectable anywhere

Trying various leads from various video cameras, and software from WMM to Virtual Dub - nothing.
What controls the source select? How can I test it?

What do you want to do exactly?

  • No sound connecting Qosmio G30 via HDMI to audio/video receiver

When I connect my Qosmio G30-177 via HDMI cable to my audio/video receiver using Windows Vista Ultimate I get no sound but excellent video.
When I connect the DVD recorder to the receiver (also via HDMI-cable) the sound is o.k.
Do I have to use the s/pdif interface instead of HDMI to transmit the sound to the receiver or is it also possible via HDMI?

    Hi
Im not a audio expert but in my knowledge the HDMI transmit the audio and video signals.
The HDMI 1.0 and 1.1 support Dolby DigitalDTS audio format
The HDMI 1.2 supports Dolby DigitalDTS and DVD-Audio format
The HDMI 1.3 supports Dolby DigitalDTS, DVD-Audio and SACD audio formats.
All HDMI standards support a Typ A (19pol) jacks

  • Qosmio G30-141: VCR to S-video - no sound is recorded

I want to connect a VCR to my laptop to copy videos into win dvd creator. In Creator only shows the tv tuner in the device list, it doesn't show the VCR machine (which is connection via S Video lead)
I do get a picture in creator if i click on the tv tuner - but no sound is recorded. I am connecting the red & white leads into the headphone connection with an adapter. Any help appreciated thanks

    Hi
I assume it happens because the s-video cable provides only video without audio signals.
To get also an audio and video signal together you have to use an additional audio RCA cable (red/white connectors). This cable can be connected to headphone jack.

  • URGENT- DOING MEMORIAL VIDEO sound and video are off when sent to iDVD

I watch the video in iMovie and the sound and video are in sync. When I send to iDVD, the two are no longer in sync. I have made changes to the iMovie project since my last DVD burn. With the initial burn, there were no sound issues.
I've tried all of the following:
    1. closing and reopening iMovie and iDVD
    2. resending from iMovie to iDVD
    3. readding the clip and removing the original clip from the iMovie project
    4. restarting my computer
The only things I have not done are the following:
    1. redownloading the original video clip from my camcorder
    2. recreating the project
    3. trying a different project to see if that one has the same audio/video issue (this will be my next step)
#2 above is literally so intense as I have a lot of editing on this. To make it clear to you, I have video footage of a memorial.... and after the memorial I chose little 20-30 second clips here and there. I don't have audio with those clips -- just iTunes music overlay.... so, those I don't need to worry about sound coinciding.... just the 30 minute clip that is the actual memorial service.
This is time sensitive.... it is a memorial video and I don't have time to redo the thing from the beginning, especially considering how long it took me to find those 20-30 second clips of the post-memorial.
    Please help!

Yes... I had seen that.... and, yep, have the latest software.... and even rebooted my machine thinking that maybe it hadn't been restarted since the update (can't remember how long ago the update was).
I did a test run with a mobile size (it takes over an hour when I share with iDVD, which has been annoying with all my attempts to "fixing") file sharing with media browser and still the sound was not matched.
I started another project alltogether in iMovie and it does not have the sound issue when sent to iDVD....
I can copy and paste the more difficult editing I did between the "bad original copy" and my "do-over"... but, it seems to not copy exact length of each clip (it decreased it by a second each clip on the ones I copied over but that is weird since it did copy over the slowed % I had on the original) ..... see the more complex editing I have has the sound silenced and I have music overlay on that....
I have many more to go... and can't copy text directly from one project to another... in fact, there is a lot you can't just copy over.... I have to redo the music, special effects etc. This is not going to be a walk in the park if I can't find a way to make my "bad original copy" work.
Still looking for more suggestions (than to start all over), but will have to start over if I spend too much time making the one I have work.... then it becomes more sensical to just start over. I have quite a bit of time in the original, but if I can copy and paste the clips, that takes a majority of the work out.... but, if any of my copy and pastes somehow "corrupt" the sound sync on the portion that isn't silenced and music overlaid, then, there is a lot of work having to recreate all my edits from scratch.

  • Video calls and videos issue

after the 5.1 update, i noticed that videos don't rotate when the phone is held horizontally. also i made a video call and when i rotated the phone the screen became unresponsive and kept going on and off unless when i held the phone in a certain angle which i cant figure out, i dont know if this issue has been there the whole time because the first video call i made on the phone (via skype) was after the update. also when i unlock the screen sometimes the colors fade and become lighter, and the screen itself freezes for 2 seconds.

I see, well if it's due to the update itself you can try to reinstall the 5.1 update with Sony PC Companion and see if the fixes the issue.

  • Qosmio G30 - fan was whirring and struggling

Yesterday when I got home I started up my Qosmio G30 and I think the fan was whirring and struggling to be honest, although I've only come to realise that afrer doing some reading this morning. Anyway I used the PC for about an hour and then left it running with 1 application running whilst I went out.
Upon returning a few hours later, the laptop hadn't shut it self down, but there were two generic boxes that had popped up stating to shut the laptop down and return it for a service.
By the sounds of it the fan had stopped working altogether and the computer was deadly quiet. I restarted it, and again the fan wasn't working at all and although the laptop loaded into windows, I immediately shut it down again.
I'm worried that the laptop hasn't shut itself down when the fan has failed, and if it hasn't done this, has any damage likely to have been caused, even though it did load back into windows?

    Hi,

  • Question about iMac Video Cards and Video Ram

I'm trying to decide between two 2012 iMacs. I'm buying it to run Adobe Premiere Pro, and After Effects, to edit and render 1080-720p video footage. The cheaper Mac has NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX graphics processor with 1GB of GDDR5 memory. The higher end one has, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX graphics processor with 2GB of GDDR5 memory. Most importantly, is the extra GB of Vram worth it? Secondarily, is the GTX 680MX(vs. 675MX) worth it? I'm trying to keep it cheap, so unless there's a notable difference, I need to go with the first one. Thanks for the help!

mostly video memory is used to hold textures for fast blittering when one run fullscreen 3d games 2d image program and video edit programs does not really take advantage of more video memory then they need to hold the back buffer of the screen which is pretty much just horizontal amount of columns multiplied by vertical lines multiplied by 4 as in the 4 bytes used by the colours

  • Qosmio G30: blue vertical lines and blue screen crash dump

    I have a Qosmio G30, Model No. PQG32C-AV605E with BIOS Version 3.40.
I want to update to 3.90 but I cannot enter Windows.
How do I update BIOS with no Windows available?
    Is there a DOS utility?
If so, please send it and I will download it or send me an email on where to download.
The G30 I have has blue vertical lines across the screen when the machine starts up in VGA mode upon entering Windows for the first time.
But the machine can't enter windows, it crashes and dumps and restarts before that.
I replaced the RAM with new RAM but it had no effect.
I ran the diagnostics utility and the hard drives are OPTIMAL in RAID 1 so no errors there.
The reinstall of Windows went smoothly: I just can't get into VGA mode without lines.
I was told by Toshiba tech support that a BIOS upgrade would fix it.
    Thanks for any helps.

I made best experience with Toshiba support. The ASP guys were always helpful
I can understand that you are upset but this is cannot be a explanation for you last replay
Fact is that you can update the BIOS ONLY running windows OS because you can download ONLY win-based BIOS!
If you are not able to do this (no matter why) then you will need to get in contact with local ASP (service provider) in your country who could update the BIOS using a traditional BIOS version.
But in my personal opinion the vertical lines are not related to any BIOS issue and I think a BIOS update would not help you in my opinion its more hardware issue as an software issue.
Therefore you should get in contact with an local ASP in order to discover what's part is affected.
    Good luck

  • Is there a way to recover video star and videos we created

Is there a way to recover video star videos that were deleted by I accidentally removed video star

Yes, restore from backup if you backup has them. See the restoring topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
To help prevent the last backup from being overwritten and thus erasing the Messages from the last backup turn off autosyncing so that you have to overtly start a sync. To turn off go iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods...".

  • Video Card and Video Card Configurations for MacBook Pro

Does anyone know where I look to confirm which video card is in my MacBook Pro and also examine the current configurations and possibly look at configuration values for the video card.
I'm kind of new to Mac, but on the Windows world I would right click on the screen and then navigate to the Advanced Video card configurations. Is there something analogous in the Mac world?
    Thanks again.

    Hi Jason,
use the System Profiler app from the Applications/Utilities Folder to 'examine' the insides of your MBP.
You can also click on the Apple Icon in the Top Menu, choose About This Mac and the the More (Further) Informations button. (I have a german OSX...).
The only avaiable configuration options are found in the System Preferences (Display and Energy Savings).
    Have Fun

  • Qosmio G30-126: how to connect analog TV and satellite TV simultaneously

Hi, I have a Qosmio G30-126 and have a problem with simultaneous receiving analog TV (by TV-in port in built-in TV tuner) and satellite channels from satellite set-top-box (by AV-in ports).
I can programm Windows Media Center for analog TV (but without satellite STB) by antenna TV-in port and it works perfectly.
I can programm Windows Media Center for digital channels from satellite STB (but without analog TV) by AV-in ports and it works perfectly.
But i can't program Windows Media Center for both analog TV i satellite STB, because during programming WMC forces me to choose between analog TV or satellite decoder and doesn't allow me to choose two signal sources.
For me it is a big problem, because I have cable TV (analog) and satellite STB with digital channels. And I want to watch on my Qosmio all channels.
    Could anyone help me?

    >... because during programming WMC forces me to choose between analog TV or satellite decoder and doesn't allow me to choose two signal sources.
I think in this statement you answered your question. I had Qosmio G30 long time ago and i also know that WMC cannot handle with two signal sources at the same time.
To confirm this contact Microsoft and ask them. I mean they have designed WMC and know how it works exactly.
Toshiba has just offered proper hardware (TV tuner) to offer TV option on this notebook.

  • List of compatible video cameras and codecs for iMovie 1.2.2 (iOS)?

Is there any official or unofficial list of compatible video cameras and video formats/codes published by anyone?
By the way, I successfully managed to import .mov (motion jpeg) from Panasonic DMC-FT1 to iMovie for iOS5. The AVCHD setting (.mts) does not work however.

Not that I've ever found. I tried to research on the Apple site before I bought it but found nothing.
I will say that SD cards are pretty universally compatible and I've not had an issue plugging htem into my iPad. So if your camera has an SD card, you should be good to go, and you can sync without running down the battery on your camera (I honestly never sync my camera with its cable since it does little more than kill the battery, I always do it just with the card, but everyone likes doing things differently)
What might be more helpful, search your camera manufacturer's information. It might be easier to find your camera company saying it's compatible iwth the CCK than it is to find a list of all cameras. Or maybe you can post your camera model here and maybe someone else has the same model and can tell you.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
How were the videos created? If the videos are in a format that isn't listed below, they may need to be transcoded or exported the from the application they were created with again, just in a another format.

  • IPad camera connector and Video cameras

Anyone has connected a video camera to the iPad through the camera connector and transferred videos?
Or transferred videos from a digital camera or on the SD card to the iPad?
Just wondering if it can be done.

I have done it successfully. However, for it to work the file format of the photos and videos have be supported by the iPad. Not all are. I have a Panasonic Video camera and video format is not supported so the I can't import it. It dose however import stills fine. ALso, the file structure in the camera has to have the photos and videos in a folder titled "DCIM". I have an old camera that does not transfer since its folder is named differently.
