Qosmio G30: Vista upgrade session: new RAID not recognized

Hello everyone
I tried to upgrade vista by manual upgrade option, but 2 problems occured:
1. I couldnt remove these applications (not listed in Control Panel>Add/Remove)
->Bluetooth ACPI by Toshiba
-> TOSHIBA TV TUNER
-> Nvidia nView Desktop manager
-> windows msnger 5.1
Next, I ignored them and proceeded, i faced a new problem, the new RAID drivers cannot be recognized in the partition screen.
If i could solve these problems I will get vistaif you guys have some ideas that would be great.

  • Qosmio G30-175 - Where to find RAID driver for Windows 7?

I have a Toshiba Qosmio G30-175 and I need a raid-driver so I can install Windows 7. My operating system is XP and on Toshiba-homepage I can't find the driver.
    Can enyboby help, please?
    Kenneth

I have the Qosmio G35 AV600 and just successfully upgraded straight from XP to Win7 Ultimate (32-bit).
I was having problems finding the drivers as well - as Win7 wasn't recognizing the hard-drives.
I did have a copy of the Vista Upgrade Assistant disk from Toshiba. This helped in removing all of the XP drivers, then was great after installing Win7. Virtually all of the drivers appear to be working fine in Win7 - despite being designed for Vista. The only driver I did upload directly from the manufacturer was the Nvidia drivers - which work for all operating systems up to Win7.
If you don't have the memory stick (or have the Upgrade disk), you can do what I did: When it asks you to locate which hard drive you want to put it on, click on browse for driver, remove the win7 install disk, and insert the upgrade disk. You can find it in the following directory on the disk:
    Download\vistaup\auto\RAIDDrv
It will find it, download the driver, find the hard drives on your PC. Then, reinsert the Win7 media and install.
You should have no problems after this point.
I noticed that they do have a download on the website for Win7 assitance that you may want to try as well - I'm sure it has the same drivers that you would need.

  • Qosmio G30: How to add the RAID driver without a floppy drive?

I am going to set win xp tomorrow, as far as i remember i will be promted to insert a floppy with additional RAID/SCSI drivers - i guess i need to supply some drivers for XP to see my RAID stripe.
I was able to download 'raid-drv-qog20-xp-1380.zip' but i am afraid to look if my laptop has a floppy drive... How do i add the drivers without a floppy drive?

    Hi
Maybe stupid comment but if you can buy Qosmio G30 I presume you can also obtain one used floppy. I have done this few times with Vista and Qosmio G30 and it works well.
Check eBay. You will get used floppy drive for few euros. Otherway try to create CD and if the RAID drive is needed browse to ODD, I didnt try it because I have FDD but you can test it on your Qosmio.

  • New iPod not recognized in Vista PC and no devices in iTunes

Hello, plugged iPod Touch into computer and Vista showed usual little box which said automatically located drivers and installed them. But couldn't find iPod in My computer. Installed iTunes from download area. No devices in left column.
Reinstalled iTunes from fresh download. Plugged iPod in every USB point on computer, but nothing happens. IPod not found or recognized.
Tried to find USB driver in Device Manager but all have generic names and so can't identify which driver was installed for iPod. None show installation date or anything which may identify which one. Also forgot to create restore point first (kicking self - always do this normally before installing something new).
Been through Apple help pages and tried all their ideas including reinstalling. Still nothing found.
Could someone please suggest what to do, besides dropping computer out of window?
    Many thanks

Apple has release a new version of iTunes 8, in responce the issues with Vista.
    1.Unistall iTunes via StartMenu\Control Panel\Programs and Features
    2.Delete all previous iTunes installers.
3.Download iTunes 8 from the Apple website.
4.Makes sure you close Outlook and Explorer and all non-essential programs, as it seems to prevent the install at certain points.
    5.Install iTunes 8.
6.After the Install is complete, Open iTunes 8 before attaching your iPhone.
7.Unlock your iPhone if it is lock with a pass code.
8.Attach your iPhone, after a few seconds you should see that it has installed a driver for your iphone, then the iPhone will appear in iTunes.
I hope this helps, as I did spend some time with this issue myself.

  • Striped RAID not recognized by Macbook Pro

I have a pair of external firewire 250GB drives that I had configured into a striped RAID set on my Powerbook Titanium. I recently purchased a Macbook Pro. When I plug the drives into the new machine, they are not recognized and the array (and I use the term loosely since it only refers to a pair of drives!) will not mount. When I launch DIsk Utility, the drives appear in the list and are offline. I cannot find a way to bring the thing online.
When I created the RAID, I used Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. The disk set still works fine on my Powerbook and checks out fine with Disk Utility on that machine.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to use my striped set on my new machine?

    Hi, P. J.
Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you, but — seeing as how your question has gone unanswered — I thought I'd offer the following hypothesis: I suspect it may have something to do with the different partitioning schemes used by PPC and Intel-based Macs.
Theoretically, "Any Macintosh computer running Mac OS X 10.4 and later can mount GPT-partitioned disks," per "Technical Note TN2166, "Secrets of the GPT." However, the RAID you created on your PPC-based Mac used the APM (Apple Partition Map) scheme.
Perhaps all the bugs haven't been worked out, esp. concerning RAID. For example, there is a known issue that some Intel-based Macs cannot boot from RAID volumes.
You may want to try your question on the MacBook Pro Discussion to see if others with your same Mac have had better luck. I'd also suggest providing more details (manufacturer, make, model, etc.) of the FireWire drives you've used in the RAID. If both are from the same manufacturer, then you might also want to check with the manufacturer to see if they've had similar reports.
One option, albeit a good bit of work, would be to backup the contents of the RAID to another drive, then recreate the RAID on your Intel-based Mac, restore the data, and see if that works on both your PPC- and Intel-based Macs.
    Good luck!

  • Xserve Raid not recognized by Disk Utility

My Xserve Raid is recognized when I run the RaidAdmin utility. I can create new arrays everything shows up without any problems. I updated the firmware for the Xserve Raid using just the ethernet connection to administer it. Changed the card and the cables that are used to connect the Raid server to a G5 server, but it still does not get recognized by Disk Utility. I am at a loss of what to do next. I have green lights for everything....no problems showing up in RaidAdmin. Please, please help....

    Hello
I have the exact same problem: after updating java and rebooting the server, the raid array is no longer visible. Everything is green, no errors in the log files, fibre channel is up and running, BUT: the array does not show with any SCSI address. LUN masking is off. Server is at 10.5.8 (intel). The array was mounting just fine before the reboot (and all before that). I've plugged the fibre channel into a PPC server, same thing: link ok, no SCSI. I'm reconditioning the drive at the moment, but it should still be visible.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Just got a new Nano. Most recent version of iTunes and the old Mini and 1st generation iPod work fine. The Nano is not recognized by iTunes or Windows. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

You really didn't need to repost the same issue. It sometimes takes awhile for anyone to provide any attempted solutions but eventually someone will respond. Also, it helps to look through the forum because there may be other threads just like yours. • Brand new Shuffle - not recognized in Windows or iTunes

I just got an iPod Shuffle 1Gb for Christmas (today). Followed all the instructions installing software, etc. Plug in the iPod - the light on the front flashes orange. Does not show up in My Computer, Device Manager or iTunes.
Uninstalled iPod and iTunes software, rebooted, installed latest iPod and iTunes software downloaded from website. iPod still not recognized and still flashes orange when plugged in to a USB port. Tried several different USB ports - no change.
    Rebooted again (more than once).
    iPod is fully charged.
    iPod has been reset.
I can't restore it, because even the iPod software doesn't recognize it.
My USB ports are fine - digital camera and external USB hard drive still work when plugged in to the various ports. Unplugged all other USB devices and iPod still wasn't recognized.
All my friends love their iPods. This is my first one. I have to say... I'm not impressed.
As I said, this was a gift, so I don't have a receipt for it, and there isn't an Apple store near me. And I think having to pay $30 to send it back to Apple so they'll replace it with a "new, used or refurbished" iPod is bullsh*t.

I had the same problem today.
What I found is that during the install routine, the Shuffle was not formatted. I went through Windows Explorer (right click on "Start" and choose "explore"). My computer found the shuffle as a removable media, but when I tried accessing it (clicking on the drive while in explorer), I got a message saying that it wasn't formatted. So, I said yes to the prompt to format it and as soon as it did, iTunes saw it and started the rest of the install routine. I had to restart and replug in the device, and it seems to be working great.
I don't know if this will help you out, but it is worth a try.
    Merry Christmas

  • New computer not recognizing iPod

My laptop hard-drive crashed, but I had all my iTunes on an external hard drive. My iPod (30GB, noncolor, flywheel) had been synching with the ailing laptop and was not working right (showing the folder/exclamation point sign; when I hard reset it now I just get the Apple symbol and clicking sounds), so I'm assuming my iPod problems are just a reflection of an aborted synch attempt with the dying compueter.
So now I've successfully reset iTunes on my work desktop PC with Windows XP via the external hard drive. I downloaded the latest iPod version onto the new computer but it is not "recognizing" my iPod...it says to plug in my iPod when it is already plugged in. The plugged in iPod seems to alternate between "Do Not Disconnect" and "OK to Disconnect" (with a giant checkmark) messages. Regardless, the iTunes page is not "recognizing" the iPod...
Once I do figure out how to get my iPod "recognized", should I choose to RESTORE or UPDATE it? I don't have playlists or ratings to worry about, just ~3500 preciously selected songs I enjoy shuffling at random.
    Thanks!

I cannot "See" the iPod. I have tried it on different computers that worked before with my iPod. On a laptop computer, there is some humming and clicking as if it is about to be recognized, but my iPod never shows up on the iTunes list (under Library, playlists, etc). When I go to "My Computer", there is nothing listed under the appropriate E drive (USB port). On a desktop computer, the iPod actually changes to the "Do Not Disconnect" sign and again there is the expected humming and clicking that suggests it is going to be "recognized", but it never comes up on the iTunes list. Under My Computer, there is a transient picture of something like a hard-drive with a big red questionmark, as if the computer is in the process of "recognizing" something at the USB port, but this fades and then there is intermittently this "removable storage" listed under drive F. As if it is only transiently being "recognized". When I manage to right click on the transient icon under My Computer, I get the list pulled down and left click on "Format..." but nothing happens. Then the iPod screen changes from "Do Not DIsconnect" (which again was an improvement from the other computer where there was no sign the iPod was even attempting to engage with the computer) to the giant checkmark and "OK to Disconnect" sign OR goes back to the "File Folder/! icon". Tried several times....
    What do you think?

  • Session variables is not recognized in my CFC

    Hi,
I got a very weird problem today! I have created a simple
login page ( username as an email and a password). This is post to
the same page where I verify from a query if the username and
password are valid. Once the query returns a RecordCount greater
than 0, I create session variables to store the first name and last
name of the user. I can see actually the session variables from a
    CFDUMP at that level.
Since I am developping an application that will mix
ColdFusion (mostly CFC) and Flex 3, I have created a CFC where I
store functions needed for the Flex application. One of the
function is fGetUserInfo where I try to collect the information I
previously store in the session scope from the login - such as the
first name. The system stop right there with an error saying that
the session variables are not defined while I have the session
variables appear at the bottom of the debug information in the same
page. This is starting to be over my knowledge and I must missing
an information to resolve this - in other words, I need your
    help!!!
I include some code to understand that the problem is not a
    mispelling!!! ;-))

I tried to change the savings of the user's information into
cookies instead of the session scope but it does the exact same
error (except it says Element TECHNICIANID is undefined in COOKIE).
In fact, after a little break, I started to think about the
method to access the functions inside the CFC. As it is remote, I
though that it might have a sense of no life on the session scope.
Than I though about the idea to transfer all the informations to
the client with Cookie. CFCOOKIE work fine and I was kind of
animated by my idea! I coded, I tried and it failed. I used at
first the default value of the CFCOOKIE which consists to reside on
the memory like a session but disapear when the user close his/her
browser. So after the first fail I change the expiration for 30
minutes but it failed again and for the same reason: Element
    TECHNICIANID is undefined in COOKIE.

  • Vista message appears - USB Device not recognized

    Hi,
I have been getting the error messages "USB device not recognized" from Windows Vista.
It keeps on repeating itself sporadically.
The problem is that I do not have any USB device attach or plug to my computer.
It happens to sometimes plugged my USB Flash key device to drop some documents on my hard drive but I immediately unplugged the device after the task is done.
I used to have a Lexmark 1290 printer plug to my computer but since it was not working fine on Vista I have decided to unplug it and delete the peripheral in my printer manager.
I have installed the latest Windows Vista Update, BIOS update, and all possible drivers but I still having the messages.
Does anyone have a idea of what could be my problem?
    Thanks

    hi aladino00,
    try this:
    - connect all of your usb-devices to the notebook (printer, usb-storage)
    - use this devices once (print and copy some files)
    - then use the "safe remove of hardware" in your system tray and use the dialog to remove the usb-devices
restart notebook (cold reboot) and test it...
maybe there is a registry key been written that causes this behaviour...
therefor the described routine should eliminate it and make your notebook akt correctly again...

  • MacBook Pro 5,1 - new HD not recognized

    hi,
2 weeks ago suddenly my MacBook Pro (5,1) started giving signs of an HD related disease. having a good backup (phew!) I simply ordered a new Western Digital Blue Scorpio 500Gb (same size I already had) and replaced it.
Nope! When I restarted my MBP, the new HD didn't show up in Disk Utility under Snow Leopard.
I browsed various resources, then put the new HD in an external box and reformatted it. then I put it IN  the MacBook Pro, but without success.
presently I am using my MBP from an external HD (not really confortable) and apparently NO other HD but the original one (Hitachi 500Gb) is recognized by Disk Utility!!
It's a very strange AND frustrating issue I never had before. The original HD is faulty (fail to format), but will be recognized by DU, the new Western Digital Blue Scorpio and a Samsung (1Tb) will not.
    Any hint?
    thanks,
    Luca

Hi donv: I repartitioned, rechecked with DU, even ran a hardware test, still not recognizing the HDD from within the (family pack) installer.
Restoring 10.5.8 works and the machine boots just fine. I am at a loss.
The disk is a WDC WD3200BEVT-22ZCT0. Could the disk be a problem? A year ago a certified technician replaced the original disk with this one.

  • New harddrive not recognized after boot

    Hi,
I just got a new (never been used) Western Digital Green 4TB hard drive today, but it doesn't seem to be recognized by the OS after booting. In the BIOS it is recognized, but as having ~2TB of storage instead of 4TB. During booting I get this message a few times: "ata9: softreset failed (device not ready)". This causes booting to take around 30 seconds longer than usual and the drive makes some strange beeping noises while this is happening. Eventually the message stops printing, and the beeping stops, and the OS finishes booting, but the drive is not recognized at all.
Did I get sent a defective drive?
My motherboard is a z77 Sabertooth that I purchased in the summer of 2012. Is there a certain SATA port I need to use for a drive this big? Could it be that the drive is not getting enough power to spin up? I noticed that the drive has some extra pins that none of my other hard drives have, like in the left side of this image http://techreport.com/r.x/wd-red-4tb/straight.jpg. Am I supposed to plug anything into those?
Last edited by tylerpnn (2015-03-17 15:58:31)

    The pins are for jumpers.
Try different SATA cables, SATA ports, and power connectors. If behaviour doesn't change you probably have a bad drive.
