Qosmio G35-650 - Do I loose my data on HDD?

Ok. I tried everything to repair an XP install on my Qosmio G35-650.
The recovery disk was a joke and wouldn't work...I decided to skip all of the DMI junk I read about and clean install a copy of XP.
Put the Raid drivers on a floppy and proceeded with the install. Setup would not install on the boot partition and gave me a "page_fault" error. I went into the bios and changed disk 0 to JBOD from RAID, disk 1 was already set to JBOD.
Reentered setup and at the point where you select the partition to install to only one partition was shown.
This was not a good thing as I backed up all of my data from the C: drive (Disk 0) to the F: Drive (Disk 1).
I went back to the BIOS and set Drive 0 back to Raid and started the Setup procedure over again.
Two partitions were showing this time but Disk 1 was not showing an F: drive designator.
The question. Did I lose all of my data on the second 100gb drive in the system?
Is my F: drive recoverable?
Help!

If you change the RAID settings, it will wipe the data. Generally all RAID systems wipe the data when they are created.
But you may have a chance to recover most of the data. There are data recovery programs/utilities that scan the HDD for file fragments and attempt to recover your files (at least the files that have not been overwritten yet). Search google for "Hard Disk format data recovery"
Why didnt you use the Recovery Disc? If the DMI is incorrect, you can simply download a DMI tool to update the product name to "Qosmio G35" or "Qosmio G30".
The tool can be found on the Toshiba America website.

  • Media center problem with Qosmio G35-650 - error message

    hello all
I have a problem with media center on qosmio g35-650.
When starting live tv , an error message appears and writes "application failure please restart your computer again. if problem persists again please contact with your hardware assistance"
It was working yesterday and today something happened.
Also it cant find any tv signal available. Is it a hardware problem?
    regards
    cem mete

    Hello
Please dont be mad on me but in most cases is the user the problem and not the machine. I really dont know what is problem in your case but if the unit has well TV signal there should not be any problem.
Your unit must be an US model. Those notebooks are not known to me but I presume that Qosmio player is preinstalled too. I have G20 and TV works perfect (WMCE and Qosmio player). What is with Qosmio player in your case? Does it work well?
Be sure that TV tuner is listed properly in device manager and also TV antenna is connected properly.

  • Qosmio G35 - Display not coming on at boot up

I recently was trying to increase start up speed by getting rid of things I didn't think I needed running. Now when I boot my Qosmio G35 I have to hit the FN F5 keys to see anything on the screen? And when I got home I couldn't get it to extend the screen to my monitor, both were blank?
I finally started it in safe mode and was able to get my laptop screen working again, I still need to hit FN,F5 on boot up. What did I screw up ? and how do I get it back to where it was ?

I have a similar blank screen situation with my Qosmio G30-161. Some weeks after cleaning up the programmes that run at start up, I had a Microsoft warning that a works db file was corrupt and I should get a backup version.
The backup also gave the same warning. I then did a System Restart in case Works had become confused and my display has been blank ever since! A friend brought a stand-alone screen round so we could try to bypass the laptop display. This was also blank but as part of trying to get it to work, I pressed the "TV Out" button (extreme Right on the top row of eleven buttons which start with "Power On"). After a short delay the laptop screen sprang to life and all was normal, until I powered off and on again when once more the screen was blank. I now have to let the loading process complete and then press TV Out to get vision. However I have also found that pressing Fn+F5 much earlier in the load will often get the display to show the XP Loading screen etc. I have also to use Fn+F5 to see the BIOS options.
I have tried a System Restore to a much earlier date. Updated the BIOS to 3.09 as this hints at display problems. These have had no effect.
I am baffled as to why the QOSMIO splash screen which should come a few seconds into power on, now NEVER shows. At this point it must be the BIOS that is control of the display so it points to a pretty basic fault. I know there will be someone in Toshiba who will know exactly what can cause this sort of problem, but how do you find him?

    Hi altagumasi,
The pinhole reset button on the back panel of the device will reset user and network settings. It will not delete your data. Press the reset button for 15 seconds and the device should reboot. After the reboot, you will go through the initial configuration process.

See if this user-tip for syncing to a new computer helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
If you have music from other sources on your phone (e.g. copied from CDs) and you don't have them on a backup, then there are some program listed half-way down this page which might be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • I updated my spouses iphone with the same apple id, now he is recieving my texts. how do i change without loosing his data?

I updated my spouses phone using the same apple id. I must have clicked ok to something i shouldnt have at some point.....because now he is recieving my texts! I still recieve my texts, but he also recieves them.
I went to restore his phone but it said it would only restore to factory settings and i dont want to loose the data.
    How do i solve this?

Try settings, messages, tap on send & receive, there should be phone number options to choose from...uncheck your phone number.
This is an added feature to allow a user to see messages across multiple platforms like your iPad and iPhone.

  • I want to separate my apple id from the rest of my family without loosing the data on each device

    Hi everyone,
I need a solution and would appreciate your help in resolving this.
Initially I was the only one in my family with an iPhone. Overtime my parents have upgraded there phones to an iPhone however I didn't realise that by placing them under the same apple id as mine that I would be in such a mess.
So basically I want my dad to have his own apple id/i cloud and my mum to have her own apple id/i cloud. I have created there own apple id's but can not setup there iPhones to there own account without loosing all there data.
I know that all the apps purchased under my apple id cannot be transfered to them & that's not a problem. The only app they really use is "Whatsapp".
I want to separate them from my id but don't want them to loose there data including there Whatsapp Conversations. Is there any way to do this?

very simple dear, go to apple.com and make new id. just change the new id in icloud, imessage, facetime and game center in device settings.(use keep data or merge data option when change id except app store) you can use one id in many devices in app store for common purchase.

    Yes, windows to Mac too.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • I'm unable to open itunes after the recent upgrade. Runtime error R6034 is the error message. I recently replaced my iPhone and I don't want to loose my data by uninstalling and re-installing the itunes?

    Hi,
I've recently replaced my iphone 5 and I couldn't restore my data into my new phone, as it asked me to do the software upgrade on itunes in my computer. So, I did the itunes upgrade, which is now causing the Runtime error R6034. I wonder if I would loose my data (i.e., can't restore the data into my new phone), if I follow the uninstalling & re-installing steps. Plz advice, as how this runtime error can be fixed and at the sametime, I will still be able to restore my data into my new phone.

Uninstalling & Re-installing iTunes will not delete your iTunes Library Data.
    Do the following:
Uninstall from Windows the following four programs: iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application Support. You do this from an applet in Control Panel called Programs & Features (in Windows 8, 7, or Vista) or Add or Remove Programs (in Windows XP).
Download the latest version of iTunes from Apple and note the location you're saving it to so you can find it once it's done.
Run the iTunes installation as an administrator, just Right click iTunes installer and Run as Administrator.

how can i reformat my external hard drive without loosing any data?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It's impossible to format a hard drive without losing the data. One thing you can do before formatting is to copy the files from the external drive to your internal drive, and then, format the external drive. After formatting, copy the files to the external drive again, and everything will be as before formatting it

If we don't need anti virus program and if the one that came with the machine is supposed to do the job then what does that say about the viruses that Mackeeper says it found? Were they not there and the program made them up? Or were they there and Apple didn't deal with them?
    Thanks for all feedback.
They were not there and MacKeeper made them up. Delete it completely. I have seen it cripple people's Macs.

    Hello,
    I'm from Brazil and i have a Qosmio G35 AV600.
A month ago, i deleted all my partitions and after i reinstalled the OS i realized that QosmioPlayer was missing.
Searching the web i found out that i need the Qosmio Player Recovery CD to reinstall the linux based software.
I called 10 times at the Toshiba Support Center, opened a ticket and all the times i have been informed that the
International Consumer Relations would call me in 1hour.
Anyway, can somebody help me creating an ISO (image) from the real CD and UPLOAD the image into a GMAIL account or somewhere else?
    I really appreciate that.
    Thank you...
