Qosmio G40: No sound on Windows Media player under Vista

Hi, the last week or so the sound has gone on my Windows Media player, but only on my Tv Tuner and DVD, the files from the hard drive are not affected. Everything was ok at the start but now it does even make the startup sound.
I have tried configuring etc but still no joy?
The tv tuner on d scaler works fine but has limited options. Is there anything else i can do or try and if not is there any other program i can use my tv tuner on where i can record etc?

I haven't had or saved any restore points so not sure what to do.
No joy on winamp. Like i said media centre works fine when i want to watch files from hard drive but no sound on tv tuner even though i get a picture.
I've tried changing sound speaker settings but stil doesnt work.
Any other ideas?

I have a Windows XP SP3 system with a Soundblaster Extreme gamer soundcard. I have no issues with sound except in windows media player . I had a conflict with a game and I had to disable the onboard sound, something I should have done when I built the system. However, having done that I can no longer get any sound now when playing anything in windows media player . Playing video clips in other players, such as DIVX, works fine. Playing the same video clip on another system using windows media player works fine. The onboard sound is Soundmax and the motherboard is an Asus PK5-E. The speakers are Logictech 5. surround sound with a sub woofer. Anyone have a fix for this?

Try WMP Tools/options/devices tab, click on speakers to highlight it, click properties. Make sure that under sound playback 'audio device to use' is correctly set.

Sound not in sync with films when watching through windows media player

my cat ran across my computer when i was watching a film now  the sound is slightly out when watching films through windows media player now i cant work out how to sort it out any help much appreciated thanks

1. System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All
     Press the "Delete All" button.
2. Safari > Preferences > Privacy
    Press the button “ Remove All Website Data”.

Windows Media Player no sound while playing a avi file in server and client connection using TCP/IP connection

Hello there
I have a problem with my windows media player while using server and client connection by using TCP/IP connection. So when I play a video using Windows Media Player in LabVIew there isn't any sound come out but when I'm playing a video by a Windows Media Player only the sound will come out. Can you help me solve this problem?
I also upload the vi as the reference.
The username for the client is ihsanhaikalz and the password is ganteng

I was looking at your VI's but I cannot seem to pinpoint exactly where you are using Windows Media Player. In order to more quickly assist you, could you please recreate this issue more concisely in a smaller set of VIs. Also, were you able to get sound when you did not use the TCP/IP connection and simply played the files in LabVIEW?
I noticed in a few places that you were using the Play Sound File.VI from the Graphics and Sounds palette. Is that what you are refering to? I noticed there that the file path that you have designated for the song is simply the song title. Instead, this should be a path to where the song is located on your computer.
Also, if you are planning on using Windows Media Player, have you considered using the ActiveX commands for Windows Media Player? Here are a few examples if you are unfamiliar with this functionality.

Playing back Recorded TV Programs using Windows Media Player and only hearing Sound from Front Speakers

Hi All,
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit Service Pack 1 with Windows Media Player 11 installed.
When I click on one of my Recorded TV Programs to watch and hear, I can only hear the Sound coming from the Front Speakers.
When I right-click on the Program and open it up in Real Player Cloud. I can indeed watch the program and hear Clear Sound coming from all 5 Speakers plus the Subwoofer.
What setting do I change to use Windows Media Player and have sound coming from all 5 Speakers and the Subwoofer?

The Files in question were Recorded by Beyond TV to my Local Hard Drive.
When I open the recording in Real Player Cloud, installed on my computer, not streaming over the Internet, I hear it correctly played.
When I use Windows Media Player, nothing can be heard from the Rear Speakers.
Speakers and Hardware are working fine.

Windows Media Player - no sound after Soundbooth use

Just installed soundbooth demo. Love it. Just what I needed. But now when attempting to play WAV files in Win Media Player, no sound. Help!

Soundbooth will generate 32 bit wav files sometime (high resolution), and Windows Media Player will not play all 32 bit files.
Vague I know, but this is something to look at when a file will not play in another application. If that happens again, Save As and select 24 bit or 16 bit for the file being written to disk.

I just ripped over 750 movies and they all play and sound great on Windows media player. Some work on AppleTV and others have no sound. The Audio is dolby 5.1 and yes I disabled the Dolby on the AppleTV. Still no sound. What up That?

iTunes has no sound for the movies too. It is obviously an Apple issue since they ALL play just fine on the Windows Media Player.

Encoding you say. I noticed that all the movies without sound are listed in 'Home Video' section of iTunes. The process used to digitize the movies was identical for all the movies. Is there a way to identify the encoding problem? I have redone a movie several times, setting the audio to different levels. When I set it to Stereo the sound came through, but choppy.

No speaker Sound, Mouse won't drag cards in Solitaire, Windows media Player error

My computer is an HP Pavilion dv6 running Windows 7. Suddenly, the following problems came up:
1. No sound from the internal speakers. Only sound from headphone jack
2. Mouse Cursor won't drag cards in Solitaire game. Mouse works OK otherwise
3. Windows Media Player shows error: "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file."

Have you tryed to do a Windows Restore to a point in time before you were having this issue?

My windows media player sound makes noise

my pc is windows 7. any other audio sound is ok wid media player but as soon as i play any vedio wid windows media player it makes terrible noise. what do i do?

It may be worth trying to reset Windows Media Player as follows.
Click the Start Menu and select Control Panel. Open Programs and Features, Click 'Turn Windows features on or off', open up Media Features and untick Windows Media Player. Click Yes then OK and then restart the notebook.
When Windows has restarted, click the Start Menu and select Control Panel. Open Programs and Features, Click 'Turn Windows features on or off', open up Media Features and tick Windows Media Player. Click Yes then OK and when WMP has finished installing, restart the notebook again.

Windows Media Player and OS X - No sound

Hi,
I am running OS 10.4.3 on an iMac 20" 1.8. I have the latest version (9) of Windows Media Player and have been using it fine for the last while for times that I can't use anything else. Suddenly, last week it would not play audio on any of the video clips I have. When I launch a WMV file, the player gives me the message:
"This file may not play correctly because it was compressed with a codec that is not supported".
These are the same files that played fine last week, and still play fine on my MacMini. I have deleted WMP and reinstalled it. I have deleted all preference files that I could find and the WMP codec file in the Library/internet plugin folders, and re-istalled again. No luck. I keep getting the message and the file plays with no audio.
Any suggestions from some of you wise Mac users out there?

Converted songs from Windows Media Player to itunes show up in the library but will not play

I just installed itunes for the purpose of converting my Windows Media Player library to itunes. I went through the install and added the music folder. itunes went through the conversion process overnight and all of my songs appear in the music library. However some songs will play properly and if you open them in windows explorer they are in a folder called my music/downloads and are mpeg files. Other songs that are listed in the music library and appear to have been converted will not play. When you click on these songs that won't play it appears to be playing in the progress bar on top, but no sound comes out and the EQ visualizer shows nothing. When you open these songs in Windows explorer they are located in a folder: my music\i tunes\itunes media\music and they are a .AAC audio file type. What went wromg in this conversion process? Why is itunes putting these files in two different locations? Why will these files not fully convert and play?

This is also what I suspected but why would the songs go through conversion, show up in the library, and then not play? Apple support even says "itunes for Windows cannot import or play WMA files that are protectd." Yet the imported song is sitting in the library and when you play it the song is listed and the diamond advances - but no sound.
Also, any tips on how to see if a WMA file is protected by DRM?

WHY can't I get iTunes to import cd's that I put on Windows Media Player?

I loaded about 100 cd's onto Windows Media Player prior to receiving my Nano. When I try to put them in my iTunes library, it gives me an error message about "protected WMA format" and iTunes only being able to convert unprotected WMA song AND advising me to use the cd. What?? I cannot re-load every cd -- that took hours and hours in the first place! HELP!

Unfortunately it sounds as though you ripped your CDs in WMA format with the copy protect box checked.
This means that your WMA files are copy protected and there is no way out of this in WMP except to re-rip your CDs.
Since you own the CDs, it may be possibe to find third party software that can help you to remove the copy protection with Google, but I can't help you with that.

Windows Media Player for MAc and other issues

I just bought a mac a week ago.
Decided to do the switch since the person at the store told me I could use the win XP interface. Anyway after installing the win xp, i realised my laptop doesnt not recognise the drivers.I got no sound, no airport. I am not too sure if the service pack is the issue. I am using service pack one.
Since I need to listen to some online lecture recordings and my xp doesnt have sound, i have to use it on MAC OS. But as the problem is the site kept telling me to install Internet explorer 5.5 and above and after install IE for MAc 5.1, it ask for Windows Media player. I installed flip4mac and media player for mac ..it still doesnt work...
I am truly sad to see the difficult in using a macbook and i kinda regretted getting it. It just getting on my nerves....
can someone please guide me or do you have any similar problem?

Yes the service pack is an issue if you're using Boot Camp to run XP. If you don't have SP2, you can try running Parallels Desktop (http://www.Parallels.com) which doesn't require SP2.

Some streaming media sites are not compatible with Mac OS X. Are these online lectures for school? I would simply ask the person running the class to help you get support. They can tell you pretty quickly if it's possible to listen with a Mac. If it's not, you should be able to do it from XP with either Parallels or Boot Camp (provided you have an SP2 version of XP).

There are times that using a Mac (with 5% market share) is frustrating because many websites don't follow standards properly. If the web designers blow it off and only support Windows, 95% of the users are still happy and don't complain. That's lazy and infuriating but it happens quite a lot. There's even a name for it: Mac Marginalization.
So you will run into this from time to time. The best solution on the Macbook is to get one of the Windows environments up and running properly. But you should still complain LOUDLY to the people who set up the bad website. The only way this will change is if users let lazy site administrators know that they are MAD about it.

Windows Media Player or Creative MediaSource with Vision

I just spent a few hours introducing myself to MediaSource. Then I realized I was not getting album art or anything, and read about how WMA files often sound better with smaller file sizes. I cannot decide which media organizer/player?to use, and am hoping for insight from anyone. I really don't want to waste time with one or the other, only to regret it later.

Creative's software is horrendous. It is overly complicated, unintuiti've, and many functions simply do not work. I haven't played with Windows Media Player 0, but I really can't see how it could possibly be worse (or even as bad!) as the Creative offering! Creative really needs to fix the bugs in MediaSource and MediaOrganizer, so that the software is useable on the Vision:M. Maybe if enough people complain about it, they'll start fixing issues! Or, an even better idea, would be for a third party to write a killer app for the Vision:M and cut Creative out of the loop entirely. Creative may be able to manufacture good players, but they can't write software!

Problem with Windows Media Player since installing Firefox 4.0

Problems with Window Media Player. When I am using Windows Media Player to view a video from another source I am having problems. When I hit pause and then go back to hit play it does not have any sound. The player is not on mute and it keeps going from pause to play with no sound most times. Please help. Thank-you.
