Qosmio G40 Video input switch

Hello,
Under Vista Media center, I am able to watch TNT using integrated TNT Tuner.
I am also able to watch TV with external TV box (connected to the integrated video input). But I have to reconfiguring the TV Signal under Media Center and lost my TNT configuration.
So my question is :
- Is there a way to easy swith between TNT Tuner and video input under Media Center without reconfiguring the TV Signal (and lost TNT configuration) ?
Have a nice day !

Hi
Im no quite sure if this is possible because as far as I know you can configure the channels only from one source
But maybe I could be wrong anyway I think its not possible

  • Recording input with Qosmio G40-10E

    Hey
    I've got the Qosmio G40-10E.
Trying to record some TV, been messing around just seeing if I could get it working, but no luck.
First I tried playing about with media center, couldn't find a way.
I then googled it and found this... (I realize it's a different model, but it's the closest example I could find)
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=21006
But the picture enhancement utility isn't in Toshiba assist thing for watching input (tried that first just to test). I downloaded cyberlink and that could only find two devices (webcam and Toshiba capture).
Any idea? I'm linked up to a TV using it's composite out going to the video-in cable (going from composite to, i think it's, a 3.5 jack (same used for headphones anyway) I got with the laptop.
Thanks in advance for any help : )
    Kieran

Wait a moment. Have you problem with recording only or you are not able to watch TV at all?
I have made some experiments with Qosmio G30 and WMC and I was able to record all available programs. Because of that I would like to know if you are able to watch TV or not.

  • Qosmio G40-108 - dvd/video playback quality

Just bought the Qosmio G40-108 loaded with Vista Ultimate. Ead all the reports and went for the stunning display report. I am sorely disappointed with the quality of playback on DVD and avi (divX Xvid h264). The colors are wishy washy and not all that sharp.
Compared to my 3 year old Toshiba mid range machine running WXP it is pretty poor. I have not messed about with anything.
Am I missing something or is this the fault of Vista. I tried loading WXP but couldn't as it came up with the message "blocked" since WXP is a downgrade. Can anyone help?!! Please.

    I presume you are speaking about this other thread;
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums//thread.jspa?threadID=29745&messageID=107523#107523
Well, according to the second thread which you have posted the same video quality appears on another computer. So I dont think that your notebooks would malfunction.
    Regarding your XP installation;
The XP installation cannot be finished because you need to install firstly the Intel Matrix Storage Manger which can be downloaded from the Intel page or from the Toshiba page.
    bye

  • Qosmio G40 - How do I monitor sound input?

I have installed Adobe Audition on my Qosmio G40 but have been unable to monitor sound input or get Auditon to record. (It used to work fine on my xp pc) I have been able to record sound but cannot listen to it as its 'going in'. I also tried to install an external sound card: CREATIVE EXTIGY but cannot get the laptop to recognise that it is installed.
Can EXTIGY work with my laptop?
How do I monitor sound input?
The installed sound card is Realtek
    Advice welcome.
    Sean.

I presume you mean the menu when you right-click the volume control icon on the desktop toolbar. It does list the input devices and when a mini jack input is connected the simulated led lights respond to the volume of the input. I can record from the line input but I cannot hear it as it is going in. In other words it records it silently but plays it back okay.
The device manager declares that the sound card is working without problems,
Somehow I want to be able to hear the input as it is being recorded and I have not been able to find out how yet. Some people have been telling me that it is a vista problem. Others say that its the laptop manufacturers who set up the laptop so that when recording line input the sound is disabled to prevent feedback from the external mic on the laptop.
Either way I am a bit astonished that I cannot resolve this problem and it is not a problem that has been mentioned before when you consider how many thousands of people are buying Toshiba laptops !!
A few days ago I emailed Realtek but have not held my breathe for a reply.
Its looking like I might have to uninstall vista and reinstall xp to solve this problem.

  • Personal Cinema and S-Video input

My Personal Cinema FX5200 set up works fine on TV-tuner and Composite Video, and I get good picture quality, and good sound using the Ulead Videostudio 7 software ( and Nero VisionExpress, too)....but when I use an S-Video lead from my VCR into the break-out block, I get black and white images only. I can live with capturing from the composite leads, but why doesn't the S-Video lead work? I have checked and double-checked all the settings, and have run out ogf ideas.
Is anybody else having this problem with S-Video input?
Does anyone have any suggestions where I might be missing something?
Any help much appreciated...I don't like these little problems beating me!

Ricardo this is not solution for you. Using S-Video cable can be used for video signal transfer only.
Do you want to have picture without sound. I don't think so.
I have made similar experiments and I have copied old VHS cassettes to my old Qosmio G30. Later I have converted recorded material and created DVDs.
My Qosmio G30 has antenna in port and I have connected my VHS recorder to this port and transferred video and audio signal. I have for example started video on VHS recorder and started Windows media centre and scanned all channels and on channel 33 I saw my recorded material that comes from connected VHS recorder.
I have tested recording with Qosmioplayer and MCE. Using both options I was able to use record option and have video material on HDD.
I am sure the same can be done with G40. Check it out.

  • Thunderbolt display : Video input into thunderbolt port?

    Hi,
I've got two major questions about the Apple thunderbolt Display :
    - Can the thunderbolt port located on the back of the display be used as an video input?
. Is it possible to plug a second mac equiped with a thunderbolt port to this port?
. If it's possible, how does the display manage to switch between the two macs?
    - Is it possible to plug an external HDMI source such as Blueray reader, Play station, etc. with an "hdmi - mini display port" cable?
Thank you very much for your answers !

I can confirm that the Thunderbolt Display will work when plugged in to the 2011 MacBook Pro 15" and a 2011 Mac Mini Server connected via Apple's Thunderbolt cable.  When both systems are connected to the monitor, the display will always prefer the system connected to its display port,  when it sleeps or is powered down, the other system detects the available display and connects to it automatically.  I can't imagine a more ideal sinerio!
    Thank you Apple!

  • Video Input Feature

I'm writing this, even though Apple devs & engineers may never see it.
Apple, please make your iMac have a video-input via HDMI, and create a shortcut that would allow the iMac to switch to another input (similar to Mission Control's multiple desktops).
This is an incredibly simple task that Apple is more than able to implement with little cost, please please please do this. Or please work with intel on the Thunderbolt connection, or give us one mini-display port back. A bit disappointed I spent this much on a computer that lost basic a feature it didn't need to lose.

I have a QIP6416-2 box and in order to get video, it needs to be connected via the Audio Video jack. I only have one input on my TV so I am unable to connect my DVD player. get an audio video switcher for $10.  dont expect verizon or box maker motorola to provide all these extra features because you old tv has 1 input. all modern tvs have multiple hdmi and audio video inputs. id like my cable box to do my dishes but i know its not possible.

  • Qosmio G40-10Z: Question about energy use in sleepmode

When I turn my new Qosmio G40-10Z in sleeping mode, with full battery (and off the AC power), I can't start the computer next day. I can only start it up after connecting it to AC power. I get a message windows Vista wasn't closed properly and I am asked to start in normal way or safe mode.
After starting the battery indicates only 2% power. So, what is using power in sleeping mode? Why isn't the sleep mode not transferred to hibernation state when the battery is almost empty?
(New notebook, only vista and office installed and only television antenna is connected)

    Hello guys
At first I just want to write a little bit about theory. Microsoft has implemented standby/Hibernation mode to offer PC users comfortable OS usage and make switch ON/OFF time much shorter.
According to the definition standby mode should be used for short time (launch, meeting and if you must leave the notebook for few hours). Hibernation mode should be used if you leave the notebook over the night or maybe day or two. In standby mode all data will be written in RAM and to keep them notebook needs power. In Hibernation mode all data will be saved on to HDD and notebook can be switched OFF. In hibernation mode the notebook does not need permanent power supply.
For me it is really strange that you use standby mode with battery and almost 20 hours. With this I do not want to say that described battery issue is normal but for 20 hours it is logic to use hibernation mode.
Back to battery issue: only 20 hours under standby mode is really to short. I have tested it with my Tecra and after 5 days I was able to switch ON notebook as usual (only battery power supply.
In your case I see only two explanations:
    1. Somehow notebook can not switch into standby mode properly and stays running (I do not believe this because you can see if something like this happen)
    2. The battery is defective
What you should do is to contact Authorized service partner in your country. Make a call and explain the situation. Maybe you will get new battery or they should test it using your battery.
Sorry for this long posting. I wish you luck and hope you will clarify this issue very soon.
    Bye and good luck!

  • 7.2.0 won't recognize video input devices and gives error 2003332927

Ever since upgrading to QT 7.2.0, my G5 duo 2.0 has been unable to use quicktime to record video from hardware that worked fine with earlier devices. Also this hardware is recognized fine by Final Cut Pro and iMovie even with QT 7.2.0 installed. I have attempted most maintenance fixes (fixing permissions, etc) but have hit a wall on this issue. I use two different pieces of hardware: a Panasonic DV 2000 recorder and a Data Video DAC analog to digital video converter. neither will be recognized by Quicktime. Because I have a second MAC G5 duo, I know the hardware is working properly under the earlier version of QT 7.1 When going to preferences in Quicktime and selecting the recording option, instead of recognizing the Panasonic, it just lists a generic DV option. Similarly, instead of recognizing the DAC converter, it just lists a generic DV converter. Then when attempting to record a movie after choosing one of the generic devices, I get the error prompt below:
"The operation could not be completed due to an unknown error. NSE error "MAC OS error 2003332929" Domain+NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code+2003332927).
I've tried switching the firewire port used to connect the devices with no relief there as well.
Any clue what's wrong? Or am I going to have to wait for another upgrade of Quicktime to fix this?

Fortunately I've been able to put a temporary fix into my system. By searching my primary drive for all Quicktime system files, I've deleted all files and dragged the application Quicktime 7.1.0 from another computer into the application folder. Restarting seems to have replaced all the library preference files needed for quicktime. It instantly recognized my video input items.
This obviously needs a more permanent fix which will only come when Apple releases the next version of Quicktime (possibly today with the release of Leopard).

  • Qosmio G40-11D not booting on battery

    Hi,
I buyed recently a Qosmio G40-11D. Everything looks ok but today when I tried to boot the PC without main power connected ... surprise ... NO BOOT. Anybody has an ideea on how to fix this please. Thank you for any hint.
    Andrei

    Hi again,
I finally made up my mind and called the Toshiba support technicians and the problem has been solved.
Switch the laptop on and press ESC and then F1 to get into the BIOS.
On the right hand side of the screen go to AUTO POWER ON = ENABLED.
    An OPTIONS box will appear.
On the 3rd line see WAKE-UP ON BATTERY = DISABLED, you should set this to ENABLE.
As i understood it is disabled as a default factory setting.
My thanks to the support people in UK. They have been very helpful.
If anyone still has problems booting on battery please contact your country support team.

  • IMovie hangs, no video input and then crash!!!! HELP!!

    Hi everybody !!
This is my first post here so I really hope you can help me.
I have a G4 Dual 1.25 with an Canopus ADVC -110 and every time that I want to import from the Beta SP (the input switch from the Canopus is in analog) the software show that the camera it's connected via firewire but I don't see any video input although I can see video output from Canopus in my reference monitors, and, if I switch to the edit tool or any other tablets or features the software crashes!!! I tried deleting the preferences, repairing disk and permission, reinstalled ILife again and nothing!
Then I reinstalled the system software and it worked fine but a few days ago I was converting a QT movie to a DV format so I can use it in Logic & ProTools and since then I'm having the same problem again.I deleted pref, repair disk and permisions but still the same!! I really need some help because this one of my main tools in my recording studio so I can do my msx scoring.
    Thanks!!!

  • Importing Canon 5D footage: No video input available

System: MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard), Production Premium CS5
When I import or open footage from my Canon 5D (1080 25p) within OnLocation CS5 I get the message "No video input available" below the clip monitor. However, the audio plays. Footage that I take with a Sony EX3 (1080 25p) plays correctly.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Andreas

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for your answer.
Being able to add and merge metadata with 5D/7D clips is exactly how I use OnLocation; not for live recording or live logging. I typically have assignments where I shoot about 200-400 clips in a day or two, covering an event from multiple angles and in various shot sizes. I exclusively work with DSLRs and have no immediate plans to switch to other formats. I chose CS5 because of native DSLR workflow support without the need for transcoding. So you would expect all parts of the suite to embrace it, including OL. Initially, it appeared to be that way, but now you call video playback of DSLR footage inside OL "a bug"!?
With the original installment of OL 5.0 I could quickly review a clip and start adding metadata to the clips (for easy reference) and then import them in PPro using the media browser (PPro does have a tendency to have incredible long save times/crashes when you keep the media browser open). After importing, by dragging the Description field right next to the name of the clip in the project panel, I can easily find the material I need for editing purposes (although a search box would help).
I guess now with 5.0.1 I have to have both Bridge (or some other video player) open to be able to view the files and then add metadata to the corresponding clip in OnLocation. Where else could I add meaning to my footage?
Just how strange is that!? Luckily Windows 7 now offers a side-by-side sticky viewing option, but surely there must be a way for OnLocation to do video playback natively...  Come on, it's just a video player, right? If Bridge and PPro and most other parts of the CS5 suite can play this footage back (you can even do matte painting inside Photoshop, right?), then why can't OnLocation? Why is it so difficult to "support" playback of these H.264 files?
The only thing I can imagine is that it may be a technical challenge to read out vectorscope info from compressed footage. So for now (CS5), you could grey out the ability to set in and outpoints inside OnLocation (rough cutting), and disable read-out of all the vectorscopes for DSLR footage... and then provide full native DSLR support in CS6. I just need video and audio playback, to be able to add metadata efficiently and keep my workflow going.
For a DSLR workflow, OnLocation can be a VERY valuable relational database tool that reads and adds metadata from/to associated footage files and creates an XML project-reference file which can then be imported in PPro. IF it works, of course...
I am more than happy to beta-test this for you guys and provide feedback.

Is this the gaming version or regular?
The primary DIMMS are DIMM 2 & 4 (2nd from the cpu and last)
So install a single stick of ram in DIMM 2 then clear the cmos. Then try the other stick.
If it won't boot with either, try a single stick in each DIMM to see if any will work.
