Qosmio G40: Vista Ultimate - Control buttons don't work properly

Hello friends,
I have a Qosmio G40 for a few months and everything is working well till now.
The problem is related to the front operation panel.
If i am using Windows Media Player, the buttons PLAY/STOP/PAUSE/FORWARD/BACKWARD work well, but if i try to use (in any case) the other buttons like REC or TURN LEDS ON or DOLBY, the button makes the usual sound but nothing happens, doesn't open any program that is supposed to open.
Does anyone have any idea of why this is happening. I've been trying to look for any configuration software of these buttons but can't seem to find any.
My system is Windows Vista Ultimate.

The Toshiba European driver page provides the AV Controller Manager.
This tool allows you to customize and preset TOSHIBA AV Control button settings.
Maybe you should install this tool and should check it again.
Additionally it would be advisable to reinstall the VAP
Check it out!

Satellite U200-128 & Vista: FN & Control buttons don't work

I upgraded my notebook's OS from XP to Vista.
But after I changed my OS, some functions are not operating anymore, I.E. the multimedia keys (which is located just above the keyboard, right next to the power key), and the FN keys (screen backlight dimmer, wifi key, etc).
Can someone assist me with this?
I've already downloaded Toshiba software made for U200 for Vista and yet I can't seem to fix it like I did with an XP OS previously.

You have to install the Toshiba Vista Value Added Package to get the Toshiba Control buttons functionality.
Also the FN buttons should work after the VAP installation.
The point is that Vista FlashCards controls the FN buttons and the FlashCards are a part of the VAP.
I would also recommend installing the Button Support because it allows you to customize and preset TOSHIBA special button settings

As far as I know the Toshiba Controls utility is responsible for key usage.
Did you try to install Toshiba Controls?
Check the Toshiba driver page for this driver.

Hello smarisig. I understand you are not able to control screen brightness from the keyboard on Windows 8. By chance, did you upgrade to Windows 8 from Windows 7? The person who posted the issue on this forum had upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8, and then this issue occurred. That is the reason I asked if this Windows 8 was upgraded. Even after I unplug my headphones they don't work, they get stuck on the level of volume it was at when I plugged in the headphones. I can control the volume if I go to system preferences and do it that way, but that is such a pain. Also, in order to get the buttons to work again I have to completely restart my computer which is also a pain! What should I do, or can do, to fix the problem?

Satellite A300-1G5 PSAG4E - Multimedia Buttons don`t work properly

My multimedia buttons don`t work properly any more. I`m talking abut the first 2 buttons (Mute and Media Player - buttons).
I just tried to reinstall VAP but it`s the same. I must say i can use Mute button but it won`t shows up that icon for mute.
The Media player button doesen`t work at all.
I just tried to search on this form for a sollution but i couldn`t find it.
All the rest of the buttons (play/pause, stop, next, previews) are working just fine.
As far as i remember 2 days ago all my multimedia buttons worked perfectly.
In this time i didn`t reinstalled OS or any other drivers.
I`m using the last version of BIOS (downloaded from toshiba website) and Windows 7 Ultimate. I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 - 1G5 PSAG4E.
Can you give me some advices about that pls?

Satellite U400: Need Vista install order and Control buttons don't work

I bought an Satellite U400-11T model with french windows Vista.
I want to change the french Vista to hungarian Vista.
Of course I bought a legal vista HUN and downloaded the drivers etc.
I am interrested in about the install order called installation instruction like at the XP models.
My second problem is; I have already installed the new Vista HUN and the 6 easy key touch buttons don't work anymore.
Where can I switch on it or wich program must i reinstall?

Satellite A300-1JH PSAGLE: Control buttons don't work with XP

I own a Toshiba Satellite A300 psagle.
It works beautifully, but there is a problem: the tactile music buttons don't work.
I am using Windows XP and I have installed all the drivers available.
Could some one please tell me what I should do.
P.s. how can I activate the "face recognition" option?

Regarding the Toshiba Control Media buttons;
You have to install the Toshiba Controls from the Toshiba European driver page.
Check there the Satellite A300 PSAG8E series and download the Toshiba Controls

I have a Satellite A200-1ZF with Vista installed originally.
I removed Vista and install XP. And then installed all drivers and almost everything is working but those keys (power,www,mediaplayer,play,stop,back,next) on the upside of notebook don't work. :/
Only power work properly ...sometimes www and mediaplayer, but rest of it doesn,t work at all.
I have Windows Media Player 9 series. I don't know if it is problem with my drivers or windows media version or something else..
please help..

Satellite A200-1ZF belongs to the PSAE6E series.
Choose this series in the Toshiba European driver download form.
There you will find a XP BIOS. If you are using Win XP on this notebook then you have to update the BIOS to the XP version!
Furthermore you have to install the Toshiba Controls v. 2.48.2.2C.
This tool is needed to get the Toshiba Media buttons working!

Equium P300 - Control buttons don't work running Win XP

Hi I am looking for some help with a problem with a Equium P300 laptop,
This is my brother's laptop, he bought it about 18 months ago, it came with Vista, he didn't want this as he preferred to have XP so I changed the operating software to XP using the drivers available on Toshiba's website to update to the correct drivers.
This has worked fine for the last 18 months however recently when the laptop is turned off, the touch sensitive hotkeys stay illuminated, even when unplugged from the power source, and do not function.
Previously if it has been turned off and you push one of the hotkeys the laptop would turn on but it is no longer doing this.
I am wondering if anyone has had experience of this previously?
Or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem or even what is causing the problem?

In you are using Win XP on this notebook, then you should update the BIOS because there is an special BIOS for Win XP!
Furthermore the Toshiba Multimedia Control buttons are controlled by Toshiba Controls tool. You can download it from the Toshiba driver page.
Regarding the illumination buttons;
As far as I know you can enabled and disable this in BIOS itself!
Check the BIOS settings,

Volume control buttons don't work for iTunes in speaker mode

Using onboard speakers (no headset on my iPhone 4S, the speaker buttons are not working. In fact the slider ICON in missing in playing music as well as the ringer ICON that comes up when I press the buttons.
I can go into settings, Sounds and manually move the slider for Ringer and Alerts, with "Change with Buttons" set "on, I can then press the volumn buttons on the side and see the slider move up and down (right and left). But as soon as I leave that screen and press either volumn up or down on the side, the Ringer ICON comes up but the slider part is gone.
In this case, there is no sound out of the speakers. However "Siri" works fine.
And in phone mode, I can use speakerphone and hear audio out of the speakers. (In fact in phone mode, speakers or headset works fine).
All other apps the speakers are inop and the volum control buttons are inop.
It's like it's in perminent "mute".

I got out my air compressor and literally blew the S* out of the docking port. I did dock the iPhone to my car dock port as a test, played music through the car. Then undocked and the volume control and speaker sounds all restored.
Not 100% it was cleaning the docking port or that I unwedged the software by docking into some different device.

My screen is frequently dim. The brightness control buttons display that they are working, but the brightness doesn't actually change. Any ideas why and what I can do?

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, I had tried that but still had to go into preferences any time I wanted it brighter. After I posted, I found a thread using some different keywords and found that people were having the same problem with OS versions up to 10.7.2 but solved it with the latest update (10.7.3). I just installed it and now seem to be able to adjust the brightness with my keyboard no problem. I appreciate your reply anyway!

Qosmio G20-127: Hotkeys & Fn buttons don't work with Vista RC1

This problem is really annoying me. Neither the Hotkeys(play, pause, forward, record, brightness) nor the Fn Buttons work since I installed windows vista RC1.
I need to find a solution for this issue. If anyone has experienced it please provide me with feedback.
Also the ConfigFree seems to be incompatible with Windows Vista, if anyone knows a trick or two I'd be most thankful

There is no trick or two!
Do you know that the Windows Vista RC1 is not an official end version and the RC1 version contains about 1500 bugs!
Furthermore to use the Toshiba features like the FN buttons or the hotkeys you will need the Toshiba drivers. BUT you will not find any Toshiba drivers for the Windows Vista at this time.
Why? Because the Windows Vista is not official on the market. Therefore if you want to use the Vista at this time on your notebook you have to use it without the Toshiba options.
But Im sure that you will get the Toshiba drivers if the Windows Vista was fully developed and official to buy.

DVD Remote Control buttons don't work when using regular DVD player

I created a DVD using DVD Studio Pro (version 3.0.2) and am unable to navigate through any menus or buttons using the DVD players remote control. I can press the play button on the actual DVD player and play the movie. How can I fix this issue? Any suggestions would be helpful!
I never changed the default setting on the file I made and the DVD works just fine in the simulator as well as any computer DVD player. Also, is there a way to make sure the DVD will play on all DVD players even if it doesn't read burned DVDs?

Not sure if I can add anything here - you're in good hands! I'd like to know how you constructed the menus - did you use photoshop layers for the background and overlay, or did you use a pict file? Are these motion menus or static?
About the compatibility - a burned disc will only ever be about 85% compatible with the number of DVD players out there, and if a DVD player states that it cannot read from DVD-R or DVD+R discs then it most likely won't play your disc. The only way to approach full compatibility is to have the disc replicated, but the cost of this usually means it is not worth while for anything less than 500 to 1000 discs at a time. If you are using DVD±R then all you can do is take steps to make sure the disc is as compatible as it can be, such as keeping the MPEG encode less than 7.5MBPS, using AC3 audio, not applying paper labels and so on.
Compatibility is getting better in general, this summer I have burned in excess of 90 individual projects on DVD-R (and duplicated each one up to seven times each) for playback on consumer players and only one came back (so far). When I looked at it there was a chunk missing from the surface of the disc, which probably explained the error!

The problem is that after installing everything, I work the shortcut keys (Toshiba controls enabled in control panel to assign function keys). I'm afraid I lack Lagn driver or program (Toshiba Control) to fix.

I found drivers for Win XP on the Toshiba European driver page.
But R200 is an oldie and I had to choose Archive in product type.
Then I found the Common Module and Toshiba Controls.
These applications are needed in order to get the buttons working.
