Qosmio G50-129 PQG55E - 64Bit Windows 7 Upgraded - How To Update BIOS?

Hello,
I have a Qosmio G50 that I have upgraded to Windows 7 64bit. My BIOS is unupdated from 6 months ago when I bought the machine.
I went to update the BIOS just to keep things up to date, so I went through the online driver wizard:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
And with all the above information inputted, it provides:
http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20090312131718.zip
After unzipping and running P0060v210.exe, it extracts and then says:
" [Error] BIOS Update is not supported OS. Unsupported OS or service pack is installed. " (Word up to all my Googling friends!) "
Does Toshiba have a BIOS update for the Qosmio G50 that is supported on Windows 7? Specifically 64bit? They should fix this glitch that directs you to download this file when it clearly isn't supported by Windows 7.
Also, I tried to run it in compatibility mode with Windows XP SP2 and it ran fine -- but I was nervous about going through with the update if it originally doesn't support Windows 7, so I don't continue at the next prompt. Is it safe to do this? Has anyone else in this situation done it without issues? I've read that BIOS updates can go horribly wrong if not careful, so I'm hesitant to update the BIOS by running the updater in compatibility mode when it doesnt support Windows 7 on its own!
Thanks in advance for any assistance and Merry Xmas.

Hi All,
Sorry ,my English is not perfect.I have a Toshiba Qosmio G50-12K.The solution is go to the US Toshiba website. Here is the link:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2140527& rpn=PQG55U&modelFilter=G55-Q805&selCategory=3&selFamily=804517
There are all of the BIOS what is available. The 2.1 BIOS exactly the same as on the European website just they used a zip file. If you guys open it you will find the same .exe file, the file size is the same, but don't use this one, instead of it you can find there an ISO file. Write a CD with this one, turn off the computer and boot from the CD, use the F12 button. This is a safety way update the BIOS. But I use the 2.3, this is newest one, for me this one is works much better, because the display is more bright. I hope this is a big help for you and you understand my English! :)

  • Qosmio G50 129: can it be used/accessed by other DLNA products?

    Hello
I have a Qosmio G50-129. I am looking to purchase a DLNA certified TV but wanted to know whether the laptop is DLNA compatible so that I could access the content from my Qosmio on the TV or if there was anything that I needed to do to make the Qosmio "DLNA compatible"?
The http://www.dlna.org/digital_living/product_types/#pc_frame website advises the below:
    "Personal Computers (PCs)
Anyone who has a PC knows that they have powerful networking capabilities built into them. So, their DLNA Certified potential is determined solely by the type of software installed on them.
DLNA Certified PCs are able to act as a Digital Media Server (DMS), Digital Media Player (DMP), Digital Media Controller (DMC) or Digital Media Renderer (DMR). Most of the PCs available today start by being certified as a DMS, since a lot of us keep the bulk of our digital content on our PCs."
There is also a search and match section on the site which doesn't bring up my Qosmio model. Does this mean I cannot or is there a solution/workaround for this?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    REkha

As far as I know any PC with a network interface (e.g. Ethernet or Wi-Fi) can become a DLNA device by installing DLNA software. In January 2010 DLNA began a certification program for software.
As far as I know Toshiba will offer new application in future and make DLNA usage more comfortable. It should be an interface to Windows Media Player.
At the moment you can try to use standard Windows 7 functions that should be available in Windows media player 12 (bundled with Windows 7).
To be honest I don't have other DLNA device and cannot test it but very soon I want to buy DLNA bluray player with integrated WLAN and want to have access to my PC and watch movies on TV but saved on notebooks HDD.
So pick up some info about DLNA function on Windows media player 12 and see how it works.
Please be so nice and inform us about all this.

  • My Qosmio G50-129 keeps overheating, extreme lag

i bought a Toshiba qosmio g50-129 and i have had it for about 9-10 months.
Now, every time i play a game, it overheats and i get so much lag that it gets down to 3-5 Frames per second.
This occurs every 1-2 minutes and lasts for 30-45 seconds, it makes a lot of noise and makes my computer lag a lot.
    Is it " broken"?
I have always handled it very carefully, never got virus. i even formated the C: drive to see if it the problem was gone, it was gone for about 5 days, i only downloaded world of warcraft.
    What ive tried:
    Update all drivers.
Closing all other applications, all unnecessary processes.
    Reducing graphics to abseloutely minimum.
It has 512 mb graphic card, nvidia gmt 9600 or smthing.
    4gb ddr3 1k mhz RAM
    2,66GHZ processor. intel core 2 duo t9550

    Hi
What graphic card driver did you use?
You should always use the Toshiba graphic card driver since such driver supports an overheating protection!!
Last week I read on 3rd party page that original nVidia graphic card driver has been removed from nVidia page because it caused a GPU overheating
Hopefully you didnt use the graphic card driver from nVidia page
    Second question;
    Do you use latest BIOS?
    If not, please update this!!!

  • Qosmio G50-129 - Can't run Windows 7 SP1 on large HDD (1TB)

    Hi,
I have a G50-129. I have replaced the primary HDD with a 1TB unit which works fine. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed and all of the drivers are installed, too, including the Robson drivers which include the Intel Matrix Manager.
I then tried installing Windows SP1 and I get a catastrophic failure. I also tried the Windows Update Standalone Installer, which fails with error 0xc8000247.
I have seen a number of threads, here and elsewhere, which cite the Intel SATA drivers as being in need of an update. The SATA controller seems to be the ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller.
I have downloaded the latest version (IATA89ENU.exe ver 12.0.0.49974) and still get the same problem.
Can anyone suggest anythying (apart from put the old disk back in)?

    Thanks, both.
I think the problem is the sector size - SQL Server is complaining about the sector size being 3k (it says that Master data and log files were created on a 4k sector size and that the sector size needs to be that or less and it's currently 3k). I guess that it means that it must be 4, 2, 1k or 512 bytes. I asked Tosh if I could put in a 1TB drive and thay said it should be OK but may need a BIOS update. Mine is fully updated.
I tried sfc /scannow and it reports corrupt files it can't fix; I rebooted and re - ran with the same result.
I can't install the System Update Readiness Tool - it also errors.
CHKDSK has started but got to the 1 second to press any key to skip and has just hung there - none of the usual info about the disk it's working on . The disk light is flicking, though, so I'll keep waiting for a while.
If that does nothing I'll re - install Windows from scratch with the Intel Rapid Storage Driver loaded when it asks for the disk to install on and see if that helps.

  • Qosmio G50 won't finalize Windows 7 64-bit install

    Hi everyone!
I recently wanted to updated my Qosmio G50-12f from vista 32bit to 7 ultimate 64bit. I did a clean install: formatted the c partition.
Everything seemed to work fine until the "setup is preparing your computer for first use" screen. At first I thought it just froze as it wouldn't go any further. Rebooting (in any modes) would get the same effect.
But to my great surprise and pleasure, it managed to pass that point when i desperately decided to wait long enough for a miracle to happen. But the problems still remain. The configuration process is just !REALLY! slow. I could painfully pass the firsts few screens, like enter computer's name, activation screen, security modes, but with a very long waiting time between each. And everytime it reaches this last security modes screen it would suddenly go to a BSOD:
    Driver Power State Failure
    * * * stop 0x0000009F (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800193DD70, 0xFFFFF80000B9C518, 0xFFFFFA80029C8610)
Please anyone has any ideas about how to solve this?
Obviously it should be a driver problem, but how do i get to update any drivers without an OS running? I've seen such a feature in the repair section of the install DVD but it only accepts .inf files.
And I can t find those anywhere on toshiba's support website. Only .exe that you run from your already running OS.
Anyway the Qosmio G50 was not listed as incompatible with 7-64bit. So i'm a bit confused here!
    Please Help^^

    Hi
Fact is that notebooks are different from desktop PCs and many newer notebooks series are equipped with newer motherboards and controllers which need an additional driver.
The G50 needs an SATA driver in order to install the Windows OS.
The SATA driver should be a part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
Some words regarding the ISO image.
Who knows what ISO image it is seem you are trying to install an image which was created on different computer this could be a problem on notebooks with different hardware configuration
You should use either the Toshiba Recovery disk or the clean Microsoft Windows CD!

  • Re: Portege R500 - How to update BIOS on Windows 7?

    Hello,
I want to update the bios of my Portege R500 to the 1.6 version. It's a windows-update BIOS and when I launch it under Windows 7, I get the message:
[Error] BIOS Update is not supported OS. Unsupported OS or service pack is installed.
I have to reinstall XP in order to update the Bios? File name is P0058v160.exe. Does anyone know if BIOS update works in Virtualisation mode? I would install Sunbox VM, install XP and run the BIOS update. But will it work?
    Does anyone has an idea?
    Regards,
    Roro

    Hi
You cannot format the 32GB SHCI card because the card reader of R500 support only SDHC cards up to 8GB!
So even you will update the BIOS, the 32GB SDHC card will not be recognized
    Back to your BIOS update question;
Since the BIOS is OS independent, the BIOS update should work using Win 7 too.
As far as I know some Toshiba tools are needed in order to start the BIOS update.
Using Win XP you need Common Modules installed.
Using Vista or Win 7 the VAP (value added package) should be installed.

  • Satellite A200-1DN - How to update BIOS for Windows 7

I'm running 32bit Windows 7 on a Satellite A200 1DN. I've been having battery problems (plugged in, not charging) and I understand I need to update my BIOS. However I can't find a BIOS update for Windows 7, only Vista and XP.
Can anyone help? Should I update with the Vista BIOS? Are there any other options for solving this battery problem? I've already tried an ATX reset, and uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ian

Theoretically, you can install Windows Vista to update Bios and return Win 7, then. Before doing, try this:
Unplug the computer from the AC adapter and turn it on. Let the computer run under battery power until the computer turns off
Remove the battery pack. Using a soft cloth, wipe off the battery packs connectors and the AC adapters connectors.
Re-insert the battery pack and plug the computer into the AC adapter
    > I've already tried an ATX reset, and uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery.
by the way, did you have the same issue before installing Win 7?

  • How to update BIOS on Satellite L40-13G

    Hello everybody!!
I want to update my BIOS, but doesn't know how to do it. I looked instruction on a site:
    Option 2: Update with CD-ROM
    1. Extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder.
    2. In the temporary folder three sub folders will be generated. "docs", "Update - 3,5' Disk", "Update - CD-R or CD-RW"
    3. How to make a bootable CD-ROM please read the *.pdf file in the "docs" folder.
    4. Ensure the Notebook is connected to the mains.
    5. Turn the Notebook off.
    6. Place the CD-ROM containing the BIOS upgrade in the optical disk drive.
    7. Turn the Notebook on with the F12 key.
    8. The BIOS boot menu appears. Select CD/DVD or the CD-ROM symbol using the arrow keys. Press "Enter".
    9. The Notebook will boot from the BIOS upgrade CD-ROM.
    10. A boot menu appears. Select the point for update the BIOS by using the arrow keys. Press "Enter".
    11. The BIOS update process starts. Do not switch off the notebook during update.
    12. If the update process is finished follow the instruction on the screen.
Downloaded such update of bios: bios-20070904123621.zip
    Page with update file: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_bios.jsp
Then I decompressed zip,.. and didn't see three directories, which written about in instruction (from above).
Help please, what I must to do. Or how to update my BIOS?
    Thank you!

    Listen Alexey!!
At this time you can find the BIOS 2.20-WIN for Satellite L40 on the Toshiba European driver page.
This is a *windows-based* version of the BIOS. Its *NOT* traditional BIOS version.
In such case you cannot update the BIOS using a diskette or CD. The BIOS update must be performed while the OS is running!!
However, the BIOS update is tricky and always RISKY!!! If you have no problems with your notebook, dont update anything!!!
The wrong BIOS or wrong BIOS update procedure can damage the board!!!!

  • Z87-G43 can't reboot - how to update BIOS?

Hey all, today I built a new PC with an MSI Z87-G43 mainboard and an i5-4690 CPU.
I have the problem that the PC can't reboot or reset, instead the PC just keeps running and doing nothing whatsoever.
This seems to be a known issue and the solution is to update BIOS + ME firmware.
For an explanation on how to do that everyone keeps linking to this topic. But to be honest, I don't understand what I have to do now :( (Also, I have never done a BIOS update in my life, and I am kinda scared of the warnings that it can brick the system...)
Could someone tell me which files exactly I have to use for this specific mainboard?

Quote from: Chike on 17-May-15, 17:02:57
Check the serial number for manufacturing date, it look like this:
    S/N: xxx-xxxx-xxxxYYMMxxxxxx
    i5-4690 requires BIOS 1.7 dated 2014-02-26 and the i5-4690K BIOS 1.8 dated 2014-05-29
If the board date is later than the required BIOS release it is likely that you have it already.
That part of the serial number is 1402, so slightly too early I guess? In the BIOS setup it says V1.6 as well, screenshot:
    Quote
How exactly, does it keep rebooting or does it just stay on?
It just stays on, I get a black screen and the fans are running. I need to press the power button for a few seconds so it turns off, then I can turn it on again.
This happens whenever the PC should reboot: When I select "reboot" in Windows, it shuts down and then black screen. Whenever I press the reset button, I just get the black screen. Also e.g. after exiting the BIOS. The problem existed already before I installed Windows, so wrong settings there can hardly be the reason.
Everything happens exactly as described in the topic I linked.

  • How to update bios with no floppy

Hey everyone, i just first wanted to thank everyone for helping people like me out , My questions is the title.. how to flash bios without a floppy drive and not using Live Update ( which i heard causes more trouble then help ).  I have Bios 1.5 and would like to move up to bios 1.6 for better overclocking, i am stuck right now @ 240 x 9 = 2160Mhz.  if i move it past 240 even to 241 it wont post at all, but my system is not even being pushed, i lower the mem divdeder to 100 and cpu multi to 7x and nothing.  I heard bios 1.5 is bad with overclocking and 1.6 would help me. Thank you.

i use winflash all the time. and as jaybee said, its pretty safe as long as you turn off everything (except your PC of course )
and if somehow, the BIOS is corrupt, you can just DL a new one, reflash it and still be okay without ever having to reboot.
I beg to differ. When I had flashed my K8N Neo (7030) board to the now recalled 1.8 bios (in DOS), I tried to flash it to 1.9 beta using Winflash, following the instructions here on the forum to the very last point, and for me Winflash did not work. Not only did it fail to flash, it also failed to flash using several different bioses. So even though I was able to reflash without rebooting, it did not help me since no bios file worked.
My bios was corrupt and I had to order a replacement chip.
There is always the possible hardware fault (bad flash chip), but since it flashed successfully in DOS only a few days before, I see no reason to suspect the hardware.
My recommendation is therefore: *always* *always* *ALWAYS* use DOS when flashing.

  • Oracle 11g upgrade: How to update stale statistics for sys and sysman?

    Hi,
I am in the process of testing Oracle 11g upgrade from Oracle 10.2.0.3. I have run utlu111i.sql on the 10g database.
The utility utlu111i.sql reports about the stale statistics for SYS and SYSMAN components.
    I executed dbms_stats.gather_dictionary_stats; dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats('SYS'); and dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats('SYSMAN');
After that the utlu111i.sql still reports the stale statistics for sys and sysman. Does anyone know how to get rid off this warning successfully?

    Nope.
Even if I had, I would probably not be installing Windows on it to upgrade the firmware!
I got some generic ways to install firmware if using Linux:
    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate
But I will wait for an official response from someone at HP about providing a Linux compatible BIOS update before attempting that.
If that is your desire, then I highly recommend that you contact HP directly.

  • Satellite A500 - How to update BIOS?

    Hi,
i've wanted to update my notebook to the new bios version 1.30. i've startet the windows based update. the update failed in the middle(6 pakets or something left) of the installing process and the system was frozen. after i've rebooted, i wanted to start the bios update for a second time, but the installer said, that i have already installed the bios version 1.30.
How can i update my notebook completely, because my fan is still running on a high level.
    best regards

    Hello
You should be happy that your ROM module isnt damaged as yet because this happens normally if the update fails.
Anyway, try to load the default settings in BIOS and try the update again. You must be logged in as administrator and close all running programs (also AntiVirus, firewall, etc.) Dont forget to extract all files from zip archive.
If it doesnt work you should contact an authorized service provider. The technicians should reflash the whole ROM module and then you can have new BIOS version too. Maybe it will done for free due warranty. :)
