Qosmio G50-136 - How to enable Hardware virtualisation

Hi,
I have a Qosmio G50-136 with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 that is said to be YES to intel virtualization technology (VT-x) by intel itself ( [intel|http://ark.intel.com/products/35568/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-P8600-3M-Cache-2_40-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB] ).
My issue is that none of the bios settings available through HWSetup refer to hardware virtualization,
So is there a way to enable it ? I'd like to run mac os x 64 bits in vmware workstation.

.and did you check the BIOS settings?
From my knowledge the VT can be enabled and disabled only in BIOS.
If such settings is missing or not supported, you will not be able to enable/disable VT

Today I upgraded to mac os x lion and when I open parallels desktop it asks me to enable hardware virtualisation support on my MacBook pro so that I can run windows xp as a virtual machine. I have searched the net and cannot find a way to access the bios to enable this feature, please could I have some support and advise on how to enable the VT. I did have any problems whilst I was on os x snow leopard and parallels used to work fine.

Boot camp is the way to go then you will be able to turn it on. Run boot camp install windows xp and you be able to get into the bios

How to Enable Hardware Acceleration in FireFox 31

Please advise how to enable hardware acceleration in FireFox 31. All my graphics and other hardware/software is current and updated. I've also paired my Bookmark Toolbar down to under 20 entries.
FireFox is so sluggish that just a few open tabs cause the pausing "wheel of doom" every time I try to enter information or go to another part of the website. Sometimes the pauses are 5-10 seconds, sometimes a minute or more.
I do not have this issue on the other browsers that I use.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

Just one question: did you take a look into the user manual preinstalled on your notebook?
Do this there are details and interesting information how to watch 3D.
First of all you have to use an Toshiba Video player if you want to play the 3D video continent or 2D video content from a DVD of video file.
The 2D content could be converted using realtime 2Dto3D conversion.
The Toshiba video player is set to 2D format by default by pressing 2Dto3D button, the conversion would be enabled and you could watch 2D content in 3D.
If you want to watch 3D Blue-ray, you have to use the WinDVD BD for Toshiba

As the author of this post How do I enable hardware acceleration in an air exe? , I am trying to enable hardware acceleration inside my AIR application
If the user has disabled hardware acceleration in his flash player's settings, context3d.driverInfo will say "Hw_disabled=userDisabled"
His only way to re-enable it is to open Internet Explorer or Firefox and right click on a flash content, then check "Enable hardware acceleration"
I (we) would like to be allowed to re-enable it directly inside the AIR app (via actionscript code) and not telling the user to open a browser and check some random checkboxes (cause you know it's not very user-friendly...)
A bug has been opened here Bug#3843535 - Disabling Hardware Acceleration in IE flash plugin disables it in AIR EXEs and is marked as fixed but nothing is fixed : there's still no way to enable hardware acceleration in desktop AIR application

This can have different reasons.
Firstly you have to check if your notebook supports 8GB RAM. Check the specifications of your chipset but as far as I know Qosmio G50 should support 8GB RAM.
Furthermore it would be interesting to know what OS you have. To use full 8GB RAM you have to use a 64bit OS.
And what type of modules you are using exactly? In worst case the new module isnt compatible with your notebook. Normally the best option is using two identical modules from one manufacture, e. g. Kingston. I have very good experience with these RAM modules for notebooks so I can really recommend it.

Qosmio G50-115: How to upgrade Home Premium to Ultimate

Dear Friends,
I am a teacher in a local college. We decided to buy Qosmio (Device name: G50-115, , Device number: PQG55E-01J00GEN, Product Group: QOSMIO) for our department. We bought two for the time being for trial. But now my job is on the sword.
These laptops are pre-intstalled with Vista-Home Premium -SP1 and we need to upgrade these to Vista Ultimate. We have a Windows Vista Ultimate DVD but that is without SP1 on it. When I run and try to upgrade it rejects the upgrade as the installed version is newer than the version which I have. Microsoft is of no help, they said you bought it....
Microsoft advised me to uninstall SP1 but I cannot do that because there is no option in ControlPanel for this.
If I do clean install I will lose all the Toshiba's nice software. I made a recovery disk but do not think that I will be able to install these software. Though I can download all the necessary drivers but I am interested in factory installed utilities/software.
Would you please advise me what to do. Is there we can get all teh Qosmio software on a DVD for instalation.

As Raver said use vLite free software. This software would allows you to create a new Vista Ultimate DVD and you could include the SP1 which you could download from the Microsoft.
At the other hand you could also use the Vista Ultimate DVD to install the Vista on the Qosmio G50.
The Toshiba tools and Vista driver can be downloaded from the Toshiba Europe driver page.
After the Vista Ultimate installation you could update and install the SP1

the optical drive of my Qosmio G 50 is not working properly anymore, it reads only some movie-DVDs, but sadly no videogameDVDs at all, so I cannot instal any games.
The warranty has already expired too. So I wanted to ask if it is possible to change the drive myself, if it is then how should I do it, and if by doing it would the laptop be in
serious risk of getting damaged?

But maybe the ODD laser lens is dirty. In my case I could solve similar issue cleaning the laser lens using a cotton-wool tip and alcohol.

It works by using Alchemy on a large scale and gives acceleration for everything you listen to. It does work, however I discovered more?important conditions. You MUST have your audio card in game mode BEFORE you do this. The reason is that the alchemy file passes the audio to OpenAL in game mode only. IF YOU TRY TO RUN GAMES IN ANY OTHER MODE YOUR SYSTEM WILL CRASH WITH BSD. IF YOU TRY TO RUN MEDIA PLAYER IT WILL HANG. IF YOU RUN DIRECTX DIAGNOSTIC YOUR SYSTEM WILL CRASH WITH BSD. YOUR?CARD MUST BE IN GAME MODE. IF YOU TRY TO CHANGE TO GAME MODE AFTER THE SWITCH, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AS THE AUDIO PANEL WON'T LOAD. DO IT BEFORE YOU SWITCH. As for windows replacing files after reboot, that aint happening to me. I've looked everywhere and can't find any sign of?were replacement files would come form either. Not that I'm saying it isn't happening, Vista is supposed to have a security system that stops you from replacing core system files. It just ain't happening in my system. However, I do have various system hacks in place and one of them may be stopping this. Need to look in to this. Fact:- I'm sitting with this in system now ( got no intentions of going back cause the audio's great ). I've tested 0 up-to date games and all give EAX etc. Without transmutation. Audio sounds amazing compared to what it was before and video audio finely plays in sync ( hurray). Maybay I should add a warning to this mod that you must only try it if you know what you are?doing.BTW in case this has anything to do with it, my system is :-

Qosmio G50-12q - How to setup devices connected to USB in standby

I wanted to use the function of stand by of the PC.
I wanted also that the peripheral ones were extinguished once in stand by.
Once set up this function the PC goes regularly in stand by but the peripheral ones connected through usb remain ignited, additional masterize type, a peripheral one usb wi.fi, etc
Someone has said to me that perhaps some functions in the Bios are not set up in order to make that once entered in stand by the PC extinguish also all the peripheral ones connected.
Which verifications and configuration I must carry out in the bios of the PC?

How do I enable hardware acceleration in an air exe?

I have a Stage3d game compiled as a windows bundle (exe) using adt -target bundle. Users download it from Steam and have no idea it's even running Adobe AIR.
The problem is that if the user has manually disabled hardware acceleration in Firefox, it will also be disabled in my game. In these cases, context3d.driverInfo will say "Hw_disabled=userDisabled". If they open Firefox, right-click on a flash animation, open the security settings box and check "enable hardware acceleration", it will start working on my Adobe AIR game too. (note this isn't on all systems - I can't recreate the problem myself)
I would love to pop open the display tab of the security panel for them right in my game:
Security.showSettings(Security.DISPLAY);
But that command doesn't work in AIR, it only works in browser plugins.
Explaining to users how to enable hardware acceleration in FF, IE, Safari etc seems like a terrible, confusing solution.
Any better ideas?
(also, I think this might be a bug? can anyone point me to documentation saying firefox & air should share settings like this? I went to report it but the bug tracker's down as usual: http://bugs.adobe.com/flex/)

Qosmio G50-13R - Add second HDD

I want to upgrade my computer.
Here are the numbers:

Product Serial Number: 89063721H
I have the space for a second hard drive, but it is empty.
No caddy, no connector.
But the Intel Rapid Storage detects an internal port 4 empty.
How to check what is is that port?
I did some research and I found a document on the material content of my computer. It is indicated that a connector on the motherboard exists for a second hard drive, here are some reference contained in the document:
CN1920 2nd HDD SATA interface connector (20-pin)
Is the motherboard of my computer (see reference above) does have the CN1920 connector?

There is a 2nd HDD bay because in the past the Qosmio G50 was released with different hardware parts and supported different hardware specifications and obviously the 2nd HDD bay does not contain the HDD connectors/cable.
The Intel ICH9M South Bridge supports 4 integrated serial ATA Host controllers, so the chipset should be able to handle 4 SATA devices (2x HDDs, 1x ODD, 1x eSATA).
I searched in the internet a little bit and found out that the motherboard supports two controllers/connectors.
The first HDD should be connected to the CN1900 (23pin) SATA connector and the 2nd HDD should be connected to CN1920 (20pin). The ODD is connected to CN1910 (13pin)
However, I think it will not be very easy to upgrade this unit with an 2nd HDD the whole unit must be disassembled and of course you would need compatible parts for such upgrade.
