Qosmio X300-12H - Additional HDD Bracket

I own a Qosmio X300-12h and recently bought a second hard drive after finding out that it would hold a second one. After buying the hard drive I then found out that the seccond bracket was not placed in the laptop. Thus not able to install it.
Now the hard drive that I bought does fit into the area without a bracket but there is the possibility of it coming loose and causing more harm than good.
I have been all over Toshiba's web site including the page with my spec laptop and there is no sign of a bracket fitting to hold my second hard drive in place securely. And yes I have even gone to ebay but no luck there either.
If anyone has this spec laptop or simular to the X300 series could you please tell me if you laptop came with a second bracket or if you could like a web site that sells them this would be awsome.

Ok, good news to all the people who have had the same problem as me and couldn't find the part online because its almost impossible due to having such a bad description of the item and no pics to go a long side it.
I spoke to the Toshiba Parts department on and spoke to two lovely ladies who were very helpfull and made sure that the part I needed was the one that would correctly fit my laptop.
For you all to make this one billion times easy here is the part number for the X300-12h with any luck it should be the same for the most of X300 series "k000061060"
as to make sure that this is 100% compatible with your specific laptop as it might differ.
Well best of luck to you all Toshiba Qosmio fans and happy gaming with uber size HDD's

  • No fingerprint sensor on my Qosmio X300-12H?

    Hi,
I bought my Qosmio X300 -12H on 3d this month in UK, and just found that it does not have a fingerprint sensor.
As the User's Manual book and the pics on Toshiba website show, the fingerprint sensor should be in the middle of the two touch pad control buttons, but it's not there.
    Is there anything wrong?
You can see it in the pic blow.

Are you 100% sure that this Qosmio X300-12H model should be equipped wit the fingerprint reader?
    I doubt it.
Fact is that the same notebook series (in your case Qosmio X300) was equipped with different hardware specifications. This means that some X300 can support the fingerprint and some model dont support this feature.
I have checked the X300-12H details on the page which you have linked in the post above and there is no fingerprint mentioned!

  • Qosmio X300-12H and Universal adaptor

    Hi,
    Ref: PQX32E-02400LEN
I ordered the laptop Qosmio X300-12H UK version but im living in Belgium so the adaptor could be a problem. But i saw this: AC adaptor input voltage : autosensing AC adapter (100/240 V) for worldwide usage. Does that mean i can use the laptop ANYWHERE without buying a new *** expensive adaptor?
How can I know the tension, frequency of the computer?
    Thx

    >could be a problem
In my opinion you should wait to see if the problem is there or not. If you don't want to use original adapter the best thing you can do is to order original one and you can buy it in Belgium.
Ok maybe is more expensive as some cheaper universal but maybe you should use original parts with this nice and not so cheap notebook. in my opinion it is better to be on the safe side.
On Toshiba support page I found info that Qosmio X300 needs PA3546E-1AC3 AC adapter.
    It is AC Adaptor - 19V DC, 9.5A, 180W.

  • Qosmio X300-13O - Is HDD getting slower?

    My Device is: Qosmio X300-13O, with 600GB (two harddisks 300GB & 300GB).
Hello, for the past two years I have put/copy/cut/paste hundreds of GBytes (because of my line of work). Some one told me that with time the harddisk speed _well become slower_ (speically that I use eSata cable with my external harddisks; the speed is around 50 to 60 MB per Second )
*1. Is that right or not?*
If I want to buy internal harddisk, *2. Is there speed for it or all harddisks is the same?*
One more thing; If I used the harddisk which the windows on for this use, *3.does it effect it?*
Sorry to take your time, & if any one knows anything about this, PLEASE tell me. REGARDS

    Hi DaYiM_1,
The HDD isnt getting slower after months or years of usage but Windows is getting slower due a lot of installed and uninstalled programs. With other words: HDDs are not getting slower, but Windows. Therefore its recommendable to reinstall Windows from time to time.
    > 2. Is there speed for it or all harddisks is the same?
HDDs have different speeds, like 5400rpm and 7200rpm. Latter are faster but need more power and produces more heat. Normally 5400rpm should be enough for most applications.
    > 3.does it effect it?
To be honest I dont know what you mean exactly. As I wrote, HDDs are not getting slower but Windows.

  • Re: Qosmio X300-12H - Screen blank if I connect the HDMI cable to my TV

    Hello all,
I'd be most grateful if anyone could help with this..
I updated my laptop and then re-started to find that the screen just stayed blank after the Windows start up stuff. I eventually found that by removing the HDMI cable to my tv it all worked fine again;)
However, as soon as I plug in my tv with the HDMI cable the screen goes blank again:(
    PLEASE HELP!!
    Many thanks,
    Sam

    Hey!
yeah this is really strange, am getting the same issue with my X300-11T.
i connect the HDMI cable while my nvidia control panel is open it shows that the samsung tv is connect.
then shortly after the laptop screen goes blank. on the TV it shows Toshiba-PC in the corner but the screen is blank.
tried to use the FN keys, but no response. have to restart the computer and disconnect the HDMI.
tried messing with settings in the nvidia control panel, windows display settings, and control but still nothing.
    running on vista premium 32-bit.
am not using the driver from the toshiba site though i got them from nvidia, am gonna try an see if maybe thats the reason.
is anyone whos getting this problem using the display driver from toshiba?

  • Keyboard (key-in) problems in Qosmio X300

After 5 or 6 min of the Qosmio X300 start-up, my keyboard] is writing crazy:
    E.g., hitting "d" the "d]" is writting, hitting "3", "3=" is writting.

I have the same problem with my Qosmio X300-12H. Started last evening for no reason. If I open a notepad and leave the cursor on the text field numbers and letters randomly appear, I also get mouse clicks. It doesn't happen immeditaly after restar, it takes a few minutes. The same happen if I remove the USB mouse. If its hardware then its not a keyboard problem. The letters that appear are the main ones I use when playing games.
Apart from that the laptop has been outstanding.

  • Re: Qosmio X300 - New HDD not recognized

hello I'm french but i hope you understand me
I have a Qosmio X300-145 and I want add a new harddrive. I bought a Western Digital velocirator 150Gb 2"1/2 but when I install it, the BIOS don't recognize it. My bios is 2.1 version
    If somebody have an idee

    Hi leonardo76,
I think your question is already answered so I dont understand what you expect or waiting for...
Fact is if your new HDD works in another computer but not in Qosmio X300 it seems to be a compatibility issue. Honestly thats not strange because the WD Velociratpor has 10.000 rpm and thats not the normal standard. So you test another model with 5400 or 7200rpm. ;)

  • HDD upgrade advice needed on Qosmio X300-112

I own a Qosmio X300-112 laptop which contains two 200GB SATA harddisks. I'd like to enhance the storage on this laptop by removing one of the harddisks (the non-OS one) and replace it with a bigger one (1-1.5TB).
What is your advice in this matter? Can I choose any harddisk I like?
    Any brand, as long as it's SATA-300 2.5"? Maybe a "Toshiba MQ01ABB, 2TB"?

    Hi
The notebook supports the SATA interface.
I think the HDD interface (controller) supports ATA-6 (Ultra DMA/100 also called Ultra DMA mode 5 orUltra-ATA100) and this SATA controller should support the LBA 48bit
The LBA 48 bit allows the usage of HDD size up to 2 PETA bytes (1 PiB ~ 1000 TiB Terabytes)
Therefore the 1TB HDD should be supported by HDD controller BUT the question is if the BIOS would be able to handle such HDD size but usually this should not be a problem for BIOS too
However, please post some feedback after you tested such HDD

  • How to use RAID 0 on Qosmio x300-11w?

    Hi,
I have a Qosmio x300-11w with 2 320GB HDD and I would like to use them in RAID 0 for a bit more speed, I cant see any RAID options in BIOS. Is there another way to enable it?
My BIOS version up to date version 1-30 I think.
Anyone know if it is possible with this system?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Teit
If notebook has such option it is described in users manuals but according to this document for your X300 (PQX32E) RAID is not available. Not a word about it is there.

  • RAID 0 on Qosmio X300-13O

I have got Qosmio x300-13O and I would like to make raid 0, but in BIOS aren't any options to make raid.
    How I can do that?

    Hi
I think this depends on software but I think you will need to install firstly the OS and then the RAID software and then you could make some changes.
I searched also for some tips and someone posted this:
Go to disk management (My computer -> right click -> Manage)
There you will see both HDD. Click right on the square where disk 0 and disk 1 is listed and convert in dynamical data medium.
Then you can build a RAID with both HDDs.

  • Re: Qosmio X300 - Webcam is not working

    Hi there,
First of all, my apologies if this issue has already been discussed and solved in another thread - I tried searching this forum for "webcam" but didn't get any results.
Right, my laptop model is: Qosmio X300-11S PQX32E-00M00LEN and am currently running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium edition.
I while go I noticed my webcam wasn't working (yes, it used to work once upon time). When I launch the 'Camera Assistant Software' I get the following message " Webcam is either disabled or has failed. Please check your webcam settings."
I tried downloading the driver and reinstall it and the device manager indicates no errors.
Anyhow, yesterday (for some other reasons) I decided to reformat and do a fresh installation of Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium edition. I have installed all relevant drivers from Toshiba website this morning and, still webcam not functioning.
    I would appreciate any input.
    Thanks in advance.

    > Anyhow, yesterday (for some other reasons) I decided to reformat and do a fresh installation of Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium edition. I have installed all relevant drivers from Toshiba website this morning and, still webcam not functioning.
Im wondering why you dont try to recover the notebook using the Toshiba HDD recovery or the recovery disks?
I mean, all drivers and everything else is preinstalled on the Toshiba image and setting the notebook back to factory settings, should help to get the webcam working.

  • Qosmio X300 has random 5-10 second freezing and more

I bought my Qosmio X300 in December 2008 and it has been into the authorized repair shop 3 times already. Here is my main problem:
while using programs and/or the internet, the pointing device will freeze. The HDD light is flashing but not solid (but its always like that). Regardless, there is nothing I can seem to do to stop it from freezing. I have followed the advice of tech support and the the authorized tech repair shop and went back to factory install.
Without any added programs installed (other than what came from the factory) it still does this. In one hour it can happen 10-20 times, very frustrating, especially when I am trying to mix music or edit video (which is why i bought it). After spending over 2000$ including an extended warranty, this is really driving me nuts. Even more that the problem cannot seem to be duplicated by the technicians. But I know I am not crazy, it is happening.
Another odd problem which is INCREDIBLY annoying when I am writing an online email is that it will go back a page for no reason. I am not touching anything near the back space and sometimes just the touchpad but not the buttons, but then it goes back and my email is gone gone gone...
    Please help suggest anything...

Try disabling the Wireless LAN in Device Manager. Does it still freeze?
Also try updating the BIOS and Display Driver.
When you type, your palm is touching the Touchpad, causing it to modify your document. To avoid this, you can disable Tapping or 'Tapping during Typing' in the Advanced Touchpad settings.

  • Qosmio X300-14P - Can I use another CPU?

    Hello,
sorry for my bad English but my schooldays are along time ago.
I thought about to buy a Toshiba Qosmio X300-14P.
The price is ok for me but the CPU is not the strongest but the other X300 are to expensive for me.
Is it possible to change the p8600 into a p9500 by myself? I know about the warranty but is ist possible to buy another CPU and do this into the X300-14P?
If it is possible what CPU is possible?
    Thank you

Of course you can upgrade the cpu, only i would do it via Toshiba service, since if you do it on your own your garanty is void.
Of course this way is more expensive.
Since you have the X300-14p, you can see in other models (series x32, not 31) what CPU is possible.
The p8600 is the component that slows down the system, as you can even see in the Vista system check, where everything is 5.8 and 5.9 (graphics, 3d graphics, memory, hdd), only cpu is 5.3 and thus the bottleneck that slows down everything here.
For the 9800gtx graphics an extreme or quad core cpu was better.
I wouldn't upgrade it now, though, since it is too expensive in the moment, wait at least 1 year.
I would NOT overclock anything in any way, because notebooks have a heat problem anyway, and overclocking is not meant for notebooks.

  • Qosmio X300 - new nvidia graphic drivers are uninstallable: no nvidia chip

    hello,
i have the qosmio X300-14P with windows 7..
i play actual games (f.e. skyrim) which need the LATEST video driver!
the x300 is said to have a nvidia geforce 9800M GTX video chip.
however, when i download the latest driver (295.73 today), at installation it says :
no nvidia hardware detected - unable to install !
    =====================================
this is so with all nvidia drivers in the last 2 years (with windows 7 and windows vista alike) !
    what is the problem ?
did toshiba not include an nvidia chip, but a cheap chinese noname chip, or what is the problem here ?
whatever notebook i had before the toshiba, it would accept actual nvidia drivers.
only the toshiba qosmio x300 doesnt.
    why ?
it is vital that i install the latest drivers, how can i get by this problem ?
the driver that toshiba offers for the qosmio x300 is almoust 3 years old (2009, now it is 2012!) -
    this is ridiculous!
an actual video/graphics driver is urgently needed, it is vital that the nvidia drivers work.
    i ask toshiba :
HOW can i get the latest nvidia driver to work in the qosmio x300-14P ?
which is said to have a geforce 9800M GTX nvidia chip (though nvidia driver says : it does'nt).
how can i get the latest `nvidia drive (295.73)r to work ?
    thank you
    q.

thanks for the answers to all, especially blob.
yes i am a gamer and therefore i need always the very latest graphics driver.
(yes, skyrim runs, but not with highest settings of course).
but i am about to buy a new notebook soon anyway.
this branding is a problem i came across earlier with the toshiba ram already.
that's the reason why this time i dont buy a new toshiba notebook anymore,
    i will switch to lenovo.
i thought about the qosmio x770, as it has some nice features.
but they removed firewire etc., well ok, i could maybe live with that,
BUT i CANNOT live without an express card slot !
the xpress card slot is vital, as only there you can expand your notebook.
missing firewire could be corrected by a firewire express card, i always
use e-sata hdd connections, so i have an express card with 2 esata ports
(to have faster hdd writings). one internal esata port (even a combo port esata/usb2)
is just not eno8gh for me, i have usually connected 2 or 3 external drives.
as well i quite often use my express tv + video card.
that a notebook at this price has no express card slot is unbelievable !
this is a knockout feature for me.
i can swallow a lot, but not a missing express card slot, as this is the only feature
that makes it possible to expand a laptop (with a e-sata card, with a tv card, f.e.).
and so i could switch my tvc card and my esata card and whatever else i need
    or might need later.
i might have purchased the x770 had it an express card slot, but without
it is so ridiculous that i would never buy it, no matter how good the other features are.
an express card slot is VITAL for every notebook.
that someone could spare it it like selling a rain jacket without a zip.
too bad, because else the x770 is not so bad.
i wonder what made them cut the express card out in a notebook
    (that is not expand-friendly anyway).
i saw that some others companies did it as well.
this will not be a fortune, as i foresee that many people will, if not at once, then later
hate the missing express card slot.
it was about time that they put good graphic cards in notebooks (while once they are branded,
they are a hassle, good or not), and now they start cutting the vital express card slot.
unexpandable is the first that comes to my mind when i think about the x770.
the product designers at toshiba seem not to be very good.
branding, missing express card slots - what else may we have to expect in the future ?
i was about time to switch.

  • Overheating GPU on Qosmio x300?

Hi there, Ive purchased this wonderful laptop last week but have a major concern involving the 9700m GTS,
    When im playing on a game my GPU temperature would reach 95 - 100C / 200 - 215F!
The other components remain cool at around 40-50C.
The fan kicks in at 65C and then the heat will slowly rise to the temperature above, The fan does not appear to be running at full speed like it does for a second when you first turn on the laptop maybe at around 70% instead of 100%
Ive crawled a lot of x300 forums and other users have said their laptop reaches 65C and stays around that temperature for hours,
I dont have any artifacts or corruption/crashes at these temps but i am concern about the laptops longevity.
What are other users max temps with this GPU and is there any program i can use to increase the GPUs fan to run 100%
    Thanks in advance.

So i bought a Qosmio X300 - 130 in February ... Worst Buy EVER . Its been with Toshiba for almost 6 months now with this overheating issue . Its with them for 2 months (atleast there close to there 2 day turnaround time) , gets sent back to me , i send it back after one day , and the loop starts all over again . This loop only started when i actually had to get a technician to my house to show him that i am not lieing and that the laptop actually does go up to those temps and that it does actually shutdown . Seems Toshiba's way of stress testing a graphics card is abit flawed . Running a Benchmark program that comes from Noah's ark doesnt cut it boys
Seems toshiba doesnt know what the problem is , as the Laptop has a new GPU , New Fans , New HDD , New Graphics Drivers , Updated Bios , New OS and from what i hear , they are now replacing the motherboard . All i want to do is get the thing either swapped out , or just credited so i can go and buy a NON toshiba Gaming laptop . I bought the laptop to replace my Work desktop , and kill 2 birds with one stone (Gaming laptop when i want to game , but mostly there for work) . With the utter useless Service i got from toshiba South Africa , i have since gone out and bought a new desktop so i can atleast keep working . I have to also give toshiba Germany props thou . Took them 5 weeks to send a mail telling toshiba SA how to proceed after having had the laptop for 4 months with no success .
I run a quite well know PC store in South Africa who supply hardware to the gaming market . Since this incident, I have since pulled the entire range off my shelves and sent it back to my supplier . I cant with a good conscience sell these laptops to my clients even thou i have had a few request for these . Only thing i am glad for is that this is not a clients laptop thats been with them for 6 months and counting .
