Qosmio X300 - Media keys and other lights stays on

Hi there,
I'm running Vista Bus 64 bit. For some reason all of the media keys and other lights stays ON.
When i press one of the media keys, it fades out and a few seconds later they fades back in again.
I have tried re-installing Value Added Package, but it did not resolve anything.
Can someone please help

You can manually turn them on and off by opening windows explorer and going to C:\Program Files\Toshiba\TBS and look for dimmer.exe when you click this it turns the lights on and off.
You could make a shortcut to this on your desktop if you cannot get proper functionality of the lights on/off button on the media key bar.

Hi. You might have a memory problem. With one or more of your ram being bad. If this is so you can try removing the ram one at a time and try to restart . You can also switch ram slots to make sure ifs not the ram slot. Before you do this try a pram reset. Command/Option/P/R holding down these keys while starting up for three chimes. Satellite P10 PSP10E shutdown and the light stays on

I'm having a few troubles with my old (2004) Satellite P10 PSP10E-0SCM7-FR
One day it simply shut down (as if out of power, no BSOD) and the power button as well as the led for the WIFI and CD/DVD stay on.
Most of the time I cannot turn it back on as the power buton still is on. (Power button, WIFI and CD/DVD are on).
I've tried to take the battery out and unplug the computer for at least 30mm
I've tried to press the start button for a while (a minute) then unplug everyting (Power cord + battery) for at least 30 mn before to turn it back on
I've reinitialzed the computer using therecovery CD provided with the computer
I've removed the heatsink, cleaned it as well as the fan then put back some new thermal grease
I've changed the memory
Yet I still have the same problem, for some unknown reason, the computer simply shutdown and the light stays on. On occasion, the power light do go off, and I'm able to start the computer again. But I'm unable to understand what makes the computer shut itself down, or when that happens, what makes turns the power light off and make it possible to start the computer again.
Any idea of what's going on ?
Could the power button and light being turned on be an error message?
If so, what does it means ?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks !

Since the computer is about 10 years old, I'll certainly won't have it fixed as I'm affraid it would cost way too much. For a ltitle while i thought about getting another used P10 in order to get some spare parts to fix my computer. But I guess this is going to be much too complicated for me and might cost me a lot with no inssurance that I'll ever get it fixed.
I guess I should better save some money and buy a new one.
I'll stay subscribed to this thread... if anyone has an idea on what could be the problem, please post here. Thanks.

Qosmio X300 -123, Win7 and FN keys

I come to you with some problems due to my new installation of Windows Seven (Win7).
I Have a qosmio X300-123 and since I have installed Windows7 my FN keys aren't working.
I've tried reinstall the Value Added Package pack and my problem is not fixed.
Do you have any drivers pack for windows 7?

Is there a release date for windows 7 specific toshiba drivers and the Qosmio 123 ?
I still have seen no information on the news.

Gnome shell, media keys and strange X11 cursor bihaviour

Hi guys,
I'm new in this forum, but old arch-user. This time I'm experimenting a really strange issue.
I have a lot of packages installed (pacman, but AUR too), and I tried some beta packet, so I don't know if this issues is caused by me, or is a sort of out-of-the-box, but this is what happens:
During Gnome-Shell session (3.16.2 actually), if I press any media keys (my keyboard has prev-next song, play/pause, stop, vol up-down) my cursor goes hidden (all works, but I can't see pointer). If I'm in empty desktop (no opened window), after 20~50pixel in any direction I can meet again my mouse. Instead, if I have some windows open...random behavior...cursor could reappear after 50pixel mouse movement, or it could stay hidden after 4-5Kpixel. The only way to get cursor again in short time is go to gnome overview (the function linked with super key or upper-left corner, by default).
Additional strange facts:
- mouse is working all the time (link is focused, button is pressed, focus follow mouse event, and so on...)
- seems gnome top bar get same effect as empty desktop (20~50pixel and cursor is visible again)
- if I link key combination with media function (Ctrl + Up/Down for volume, for example), everything goes well
- I have a secondary bluetooth keyboard with same media keys, but this peripheral is not affected by this issue
Any additional informations will be provided, but first, I did my homework:

Got is sorted myself.
I installed KDE which worked perfectly. Then went about trying to install chromium. After installing and trying to launch chromium I noticed it would just hand unless launched by root (terminal).
Which led me to check permissions under /home.
Turns out that somehow my /home/{me}/.config directory was owned by root:root . A simple chown -R ~/.config and a reinstall of gnome got everything working fine
NB: maybe someone with more insight can figure how/why ~/.config was owned by root from a fresh install and setup of systemd ??

Is there a way to map fn key on microsoft bluetooth keyboard 5000. i want to basically have quick functions like keyboard/screen brightness control from bluetooth keyboard

Also I am really not sure how you consider the most imprtant keys on the keyboard to be the play/pause and volume keys. Personally I think the letters and numbers hold some pretty significant value.

Hot phone and red light stays on

My iphone 3G often gets hot when I use it for 15 or 20 minutes and the little red infared light stays on and I don't know why. Any helpful ideas or advice would be welcome.

I fear that all you have done, contrary to the recommended process, has permanently damaged your BB. But, you nevertheless might want to try again the "rice trick", but this time not being as anxious about ceasing the process. If you wish to attempt that, then:

Do everything it says, including waiting the maximum recommended time. Applying power to your BB between it getting wet and doing this process reduces the chances of success. Further, the only thing predictable about moisture intrusion into a BB (indeed, any electronic device) is that the results will be unpredictable. I've seen some come back up right away and be fine. I've seen others never work at all. I've seen still others run for a bit, and then die later. And every thing in between.

HashMap keys and values not staying consistent (my fault, but why?)

Alright, after starting out for the very first time with HashMaps a few hours ago, I've gotten the hang of them decently I think. I am encountering a problem, though, when I try to get user-selected keys + values to display. My code is:

Say the HashMap keys and values are
"Rome", "-2"
"Chicago", "6"
"New York", "5"
"Paris", "-1"
If I type "Rome" in when I execute this method, it gives me the correct output - "Rome: GMT -2"
If I then re-run the method, as to display a different one, I get "Chicago: GMT -2"
It's like the name the user inputs is updating, obviously, but the value of the HashMap that goes along with the user-input doesn't match up or something. My code is confusing myself after looking at it for nearly 10 hours, so I apologize that I had to post something so trivial here - I'm sure it's just a problem with my wordings....any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's very possible I'm missing some things here, but I've attempted to review your code.
Let me just define the specs of the code as I see them:
Method useZone accepts String input, which is "supposed" to be the key to a hashmap.
The timezone offsets are the value's in this hashmap.
The value is of type Integer.
If a key is properly selected, print out GMT + or - the offset?
If I have this correct, consider the following implementation:
   public void useZone(String use) {
       Integer offset = (Integer)hm.get(use);
       System.out.print("\f");
       if (offset != null){
           System.out.println("Time Zone Used:");
           System.out.println(use + ": GMT +" + offset.toString());
       } else{
           System.out.println("Invalid zone name.");

}I'd guess you're getting odd behavior because you're creating an iterator to iterate through the map, but then only calling i.next() once - HashMap doesn't guarantee insertion order, so the fact it worked once correctly is "random".
Also, if you are using java 1.5 declare the map as follows:
Map<String, Integer> hm = new HashMap<String, Integer>();And you can get rid of the casts. I would also suggest renaming the hashmap to something that describes what it holds, rather than it's object type. Maybe something like timeZoneMap - or offsetMap. I would also consider renaming "use" to something that describes the data it might hold, instead of something that describes the workflow.
Variable naming is very difficult! I would suggest renaming all of your variables, but I think those are the only ones I kept!

But I didn??t find driver for remote control and function bar. The drivers for Vista *64 don't work.

Hi
The Win 7 drivers are not available for this unit at this time.
But I found some Win 7 drivers on the Toshiba US driver page.
Of course you will not find exactly the same X300 series but you can choose the drives released for Qosmio X305-xxxx
There is no big difference between X300 and X305 so the Win 7 drivers should work too

Podcasts in Windows Media Player and others

All the documentation I have read about producing podcasts seems to be oriented to iTunes Store, but it seems that Windows Media Player is now able of manage podcasts (at least with some plugin), with the millions of new people that can now have access to your podcast (yes, many -if not the most- of windows users doesn't have itunes, at least around here).
Is it a good idea to have two podcasts one for iTunes and one for the rest for the world? or can just one have the format and specifications needed to work in both worlds?

- Why you can't select the Left or Right channel of audio? I have tried with one audio pòdcast I have download, I open it with QuicktimePro and I have all the options aviable for both stereo chanels.
- Since a .mov (h264) is a valid format for iTunes, why is not able to use alternate languages? Is iTunes
unable to manage this alternate tracks? or is not able to publish a podcast in iTunes having alternate tracks? Can this be done outside iTunes? (through a web page and a rss reader)

Transferring songs from Windows Media Player and others to iTunes

G'day folks,
First of all - great stuff this forum! Had some issues with my new Mini but finally got it up and running thanks to the Q&A's here. One thing I couldn't find though, and that's how to transfer songs from my media player to iTunes.
Here's the thing: First time I installed iTunes, it automatically started importing songs from Windows Media player (harddisk?) to iTunes - happy days! It all went sort of slow though and at one point I had to leave the house so I switched off the comp, assuming it'd get on with it again next time.
However, it didn't. Now I've been trying over and over but I cannot manage to get more songs imported into iTunes. Any suggestions?
Also (minor problem), in iTunes I can see a LimeWire directory, with all the songs in there I downloaded ages ago through LimeWire (sorry, I know it's wrong, shame on me, this was before my iPod era). I can play these songs in iTunes, but not send them to my Mini. Any ideas or is this impossible?

iTunes will convert WMA files as long as they are not protected. See this.
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format.
You'll end up with a set of duplicates so you can delete the WMA files if you no longer want them.

Popups to install/update media player and others that i don't use and don't want.

constantly Firefox won't go to webpages because it wants media player either installed or updated. I don't go to sites that need any kind of media player at all and i don't want to update or install it.
how can it stop this window popup??? it's never ending and it won't even let me close it. i have to "x" out of Firefox all together...this is crazy.
then it asks for java updates and I have the latest version.

These popup maybe are maliciuos sites, because FIrefox doest open popups to update Plugins.

We have to continually shut down cs6 otherwise we lose control over quick keys and other buttons.

We are using windows 8 on a new machine. We are constantly closing and opening ai cs 6 because we lose our quick keys as well as other features. Are there patches for windows 8 required?
