Qosmio X500-014 (LED Backlit Display)

Hello all, quick question here.
Just picked up my new Qosmio X500-014, although I'm quite satisfied with this machine I wish this particular model had the LED Backlit Display for the keypad.
Would it be possible to buy the correct Backlit keypad and swap it for the one in my mcahine? Or are there other components required as well?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for reply Dr.Lamp.
I did take the time to call Toshiba today and was told that I have a canadian model with multilingual keypad no backlighting. (Qosmio X500-014 Mfr. Part Number: PQX33C-01400N). They also told me that they do not carry nor sell parts for these laptops, any advice as to weather a backlit keypad would be compatible with my model is inconclusive. They did however give me the number to there parts supplier:
National Parts Depot (1-800-524-8338)
Speaking with a Rep at National Parts Depot I was told they do not carry parts for the canadian versions, only the US versions. They do not have any reference to the X500 version only the X505 version.
Now I`m confused, is the X500 canadian only and the X505 the US variant? This may explain why all the models I see here in Canada have the same multilingual keypad with no lighting? (not sure)
So I decided to take things a step further and gave them the part number to a US model that has the English only LED backlit keypad . (Qosmio X505-Q850 Mfr. Part Number: PQX33U-00L00H). NPD won`t give me the part numbers for the keypad, but does have availability for $90.00 US funds, no guarantee that the LED lighting will work with my model number but should physically fit into my X500.
So, I guess I need to find the parts supplier for Canada and see what they have to say, if all else fails I may just take the $90 dollar gamble on the keypad for the X505 and see what happens, worst case I can always resell it on Ebay.
I`ll keep this thread updated with any findings, thanks.

  • Qosmio X500-014 PQX33C-01400N display does not wake on reboot

Recently my Qosmio X500-014 PQX33C-01400N display does not wake on reboot. I can see the the HDD status light working but I don't see the BIOS boot process or the Windows login. It's just blank. I know it boots Windows as I hear the chime and the webcam lights up waiting for face recognition.
I can reboot and plug in an external display and see the whole boot process and it works, but when I log in, Windows does not detect the laptop display.
For the laptop display to work. I reboot and wait until I see the webcam lightup which I assume means Windows is already in login prompt. I close the built in LCD display down and wait for the laptop to go to sleep mode. Once in sleep mode, I prop up the screen and it awakes like normal. I now don't shut down my laptop because of this. I just close down the screen and put it on sleep so I can easily get to it by simply waking it up.
Is this a hardware problem? BIOS problem? display adapter problem? I've never seen this problem in any forum.
    Any advice would help. Thanks!

As that's a Canadian model, you'll want to check their support site.
I'm not a tech support agent, but I doubt it's a driver issue because it's manifesting pre-Windows. Try checking for any relevant BIOS settings.

  • X230 with 12.5 Premium HD LED Backlit Display - no webcam?

    Hello,
I'm interested in the Thinkpad X230. I read some test and all of them mention two kind of display panels (TN and IPS) and recommend to choose the IPS panel.
I tried to configure my X230 on shop.lenovo.com. But whenever I select the "12.5 Premium HD (1366x768) LED Backlit" display (I assume that this is the IPS display) there is only "no camera" as option for a web cam. If I opt for an non premium display I can select a  720-P-HD camera.
So I'm a little bit confused. Isn't it possible to get the premium display together with a camera?
Maybe I should add that I'm from Germany and used the German shop page, because sometimes there are different models for different countries.
    Thanks!

Hmmm,  on the US site, there are four display options.  2 HD and 2 HD premium.  They all  offer a camera option except the HD premium with 3x3 antenna.
Do you see something similar on the German site?

  • Re: Qosmio X500-12D - Question about display driver

Well I wanted best for my "pet", and I downloaded latest display drivers from Toshiba page first, then nvidia it self. What happens now, with any driver I have is next:
In dual display, when my desktop is extended to other LCD, clocks speeds of GPU CPU and Memory go to max, and heat up to 102C even if I stick in windows with no action at all even in power saving mode!
So my question is, can I correct this issue with nVidia control panel, or any older or newer drivers? Do you have problem like this? All you that have second display please try to extend desktop, and check with evga or gupz, temperatures.
I noticed that fan speed doesn't drop under 50%, and it is pretty loud for Power Saving mode, checked CPU, then GPU, and saw amazing thing max clocks + 102C
    Thanks in advance.

Tell me your temperatures in idle, in dual monitor mode (if you have another monitor), or go to game or run FurMark and test it and let me know how high your temperatures go, try it out, you obviously don't play so you don't get driver display stopped working ... Guys I had Toshiba drivers and didn't work ... not anymore, well if hardware issue is here, I didn't do anything wrong ! 100% !
Well as I see there people have lots of problems, I will copy paste from another Toshiba post I made, I would be thankful if you test and answer to my questions:
Can somebody please tell me their temperature in C, idle and max load ! Please do next, download GPU-Z, go to sensors and read idle temperature, then go to dual display and leave it for 5-10 minutes and read temp then. It should be max.
I downloaded free benchmark program Ozone3D - FurMark, and I did test, extreme test last for 5 mins, 107C and my Qosmio shuts down !!!
Guys 100C in desktop while in dual display mode, and 107C probably in some games where it shuts down and on this benchmark, and remember I do have cooling pad with 2 140 mm vents it is summer, but it is around 24-25C in room, even over night it is colder it is 3 am, window opened (around 20C in room) still overheats ..
What I noticed it takes around 10-30 seconds to hop from 55C idle to 90-100C load ...
Please can somebody who thinks that doesn't have this problem let me know those answers:
    1. Idle temperature
    2. Load temperature of GPU
    3. Drivers that you use for graphic card GTS 360M, if you don't have display driver stopped working problem !! And Dual display 100% problem
    Thanks in advance.

  • Diagonal hd led-backlit vs hd Wled

Hi, I want to buy a new laptop and I'm stuck into two hp pavilion , one of them has a (diagonal hd brightview led-backlit) display and the other has an (hd Wled brightview) display.. and I want to know the difference between them and which one is better??? And thanks for help...

Actually in the market both are same.
WLEDs are also LCD except for the backlighting.
If you look closer, the technicality is little bit different: WLED has LEDs evenly distributed throughout the back of the screen so it turn off individually to achieve true black whereas
Standard LCD screens have a CCFL on top and on bottom of the screen (anyone who has disassembled an LCD knows this), and these light the entire screen, which means there will be uneven light conditions at different parts of the screen, and a true black is impossible, because the CCFL's can't cause just certain parts of the screen to go completely dark.

  • G510 shows display as "pnp generic" it's supposed to be LED BACKLIT

hello, i had windows 7 installed on my g510 and the monitor had showed up LED BACKLIT , but when i installed windows 8.1 pro it now shows the monitor as "PNP generic" instead of LED BACKLIT ? and i lost the brightness of the screen and most of the videos and movies are not so good, is there any solution for this , please?

    hi poumsae,
    Welcome to the Forums.
It's possible that the display driver that's being detected on the machine is the Windows 8.1 inbox driver. You can verify this  if one of the display adapters is set to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter under Device Manager > Display Adapters.
      - Sample image
    Things that you can try:
    1. Run and install all Windows Updates to get the latest patch and fixes for the OS.
2, If you have an Intel+AMD GPU, navigate to the Control Panel (icon views) > Programs and Features and uninstall both the Intel and AMD display driver and reboot. When finished, re-install the Intel driver first followed by the AMD Display driver and observe.
Intel Video Driver for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit)
AMD Video Driver for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit)
Let me know how it goes.

Can you tell me why you don't think its a good buy? Someone bought it that must have thought it was a good buy? You?!!!
I had a macbook pro, spilled an entire latte on it. Cannot afford to drop another 1500 on a new one. I understand the air is a great machine. And for someone that is hard on equipment (aside from liquid!) with no moving parts its a better option. This one is priced at $929 - good?

A lot depends on if you are having Apple do the replacement or an authorized repair or another source.  The Apple prices seem to run in the neighborhood of $500, some have posted prices as low as $200 from un-authorized sources.
Check with an Apple store or authorized service first so you have a reference point...and be sure to take into consideration the confidence you feel in the repair facility, you often get what you pay for.

  • Re: Qosmio X500 - Monitor fails to turn on after waking from Sleep mode

    Hello all,
I have a problem with my Qosmio X500-10T:
After placing it into Sleep mode, upon waking it up again (opening the lid, pressing a key, moving the mouse or pressing the power button) the screen fails to turn on (it could possibly be a black screen, although I doubt it as I cannot really see any traces of the LED backlight). The only way beyond this is rebooting by holding down the power button.
    I appreciate any help.

I have a X500-10T, under 4 weeks old. Straight from the box it had the problems with going to sleep/hibernation and the only way to bringit back to life was to remove the battery and follow the reset procedue as instructed by Toshiba technicians. Currently the sleep and hibenation has been disabled, it was unuasble. I have a bluetooth mouse that also is a nightmare, it drops in and out of operation at any time, mostly if left untouched for a while. Some times a reboot brings it back to life whilst at other times it takes 30-40 minutes of switching on and off a number of settings, cant' realy workout what's going on. This unit was supplied with the latest BIOS ver 1.4 so not known any difference.
Technicians aslo did a full re-set bakt to factory defaults, this did not make any difference apard from giving me several hours of work in restalling all my programmes. I am worried as I only have just over 11 months warranty left. I have been advised not to use the fingure print identification system as any protected data will be un recoverable if it goes wrong, I would be interested if any other users have any concerns about this, the reminder to set this is driving me crazy, and apparently it can't be switched off when I asked.Has any one who had thee issues managed to get it sorted. The big question for me is it a BIOS problem, graphic card software issue or a Windows 7 issue.

  • Qosmio X500: power adapter stopped working for no reason

    Hi,
Now i have my Qosmio X500 for a year and i like it, however i have small problems with it, and i would like to know if it can be problematic.
The first thing is that my power adapter stopped working for no reason,
So i bought a new one, but it always made some noise when the laptop was fully charged.
I know people with the same laptop and their adapter didn't make that sizzling noise, it looks like it was already defect from the begin.
Then i have one dead pixel in the middle of my screen, no problem for me.
Finally my screen is a bit loose from the laptop, when i close it, i can move it, it always seems like it's not on it's correct place, because when i close it normally it's not 100% horizontal...
Also when i replace my screen, my speakers make crackling noises and my webcam stops working.
So all those problems i have annoy me, especially the last one (webcam and speakers problem), can this fit in the warranty of the laptop? I did extend the warranty for one year...
    Thanks in advance.

    > The first thing is that my power adapter stopped working for no reason,
    > So i bought a new one, but it always made some noise when the laptop was fully charged.
I think this is AC adaptor fault maybe a broken cable or something like that I would recommend you to replace this get in contact with the dealer and ask for the new one.
    > Then i have one dead pixel in the middle of my screen, no problem for me.
I found a info about such issues:
+Information on screen technology and pixel failure tolerance for LCD displays
    +http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9502LZ0000R02.htm
    > Finally my screen is a bit loose from the laptop, when i close it, i can move it, it always seems like it's not on it's correct place, because when i close it normally it's not 100% horizontal...Also when i replace my screen, my speakers make crackling noises and my webcam stops working.
Maybe you should ask Toshiba notebook technicians for a check maybe some screws or the hinges are loose.
The speakers should be checked with connected headphones. If you will not notice the same crackling sound using headphones, then the issue might be related to speakers

  • Qosmio X500-126 issues

<p>Hello!<br /><br />I bought two laptops Toshiba Qosmio X500-126 in 2010 (one for me and one for my boss). <br /><br />The problems began on the first year. <br />One of the laptops (the one of my boss) was literally thrown out as rubbish a year after the purchase. <br /><br />The problems with my laptop started with the registration of the warranty. <br />After several calls to the store and a few hours I was able to register the warranty. <br /><br />My first complaint was about overheating and shutdown (enter date 16.07.2012). The laptop was warming up so much that the fan had melted and separated from the bottom cover at one of the ends. I took the laptop from repair on 23.07.2012 and they made me pay for fixing it. <br /><br />On 01.10.2012 I left the laptop for repair again due to overheating and shutdown problems. The temperature began literally to melt and bend the upper and lower lid ... <br /><br />The lower lid wasdeformed to such an extent that it is separated from the rear side and had trouble with the hinge of the display. Because of the hot air from the fan, the screen bottom began to fade (near to the fan). <br />Moreover, the computer totally refused to work and to turn onagain. <br /><br />At the repair office they replaced the charger, cleaned the laptop and sent me an offer for a new bottom and top cover. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Its really pity that you had such problems with your notebook. :(
Hardware problems are really annoying and I can understand your very well.
You said the notebook has been taken for the repair again so lets hope it will be fixed properly this time
    Ive got two Toshiba notebooks.
Both have been running properly all the time. But of A210 shut-off automatically some month ago.
I disassembled the notebook (warranty was not valid anymore) and cleaned the fans.
The cooling modules were really dirty and I removed a lot of dust.
I renewed also the thermal grease. Since then the unit run properly. No shut down anymore.
However, good luck mate and hopefully the agents will be able to fix the hardware problems.

  • Dust under screen of Qosmio X500

    Hi
I purchased a Qosmio X500 from Saudi Arabia in april last year and Ive brought it to india where I currently reside. Last week while randomly cleaning my screen I noticed few specks of dust within (underneath) the lcd/led panel. This does not hinder my work on the machine, nor do I face any other performance issues. but the very presence of these dust particles beneath the gorgeous 18" screen is becoming an eyesore.
I hardly take the laptop outside or use in harsh or dusty environments. I have an EMEA warranty that's valid upto April 2015 and I was planning to ship the laptop back to Saudi Arabia to get it rectified. Any suggestions on this regard would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and Warm Regards
    Dr Hidayath Ansari

    Hi
I've taken my laptop to the authorised service center in Jeddah and they claim that the dust under screen is completely my fault.
The technicians say that it will cost me 1600 Saudi riyals to get the screen replaced even though its under warranty which is really unfortunate becuase the laptop has never be taken out of the office and there is hardly any dust in the room.
Iam a very careful user and in the last two years there is no a single scratch on this device.
Is there any place I can sent a mail to escalate this issue and get it rectified at least under goodwill or even if I have to pay the service charges.

  • Qosmio X500-110 - Webcam failed to initialize

    Hi
I have a Qosmio x500-110. Bought brand new out of the box and I havnt changed nothing.
It displays this error message after startup "webcamera failed to initialize...restart application or computer" and the webcam stops working. Also when this happens the finger print reader and bluetooth devices also stop working. The finger print say "failed to connect to sensor". As soon as you restart the computer it works fine. Then again it may go anytime.
I dont know wat is causing this prblem. I have downloaded and reinstalled the drivers also (Windows 7 64bit) and the softwares for the same but dosnt help.

    Hi
So you have already reinstalled the webcam driver and still running preinstalled OS without any 3rd party applications and this error occurs?
Well, I think in this case your only chance is the authorized service provider. The technicians should check your notebook, maybe its a hardware problem or something else. Just contact the guys and explain the situation. They will help you as best as possible.
    Good luck! :)
