Qosmio X500/02G gaming/fingerprint/crashing problems

hi all, i have recently brought a Qosmio X500/02G about 2 months ago, i had initially had a problem where i launched modern warfare 2 and it took forever to load then i had massive lag in the game where my soldier couldnt even move most the time and i was waiting for it to crash but never did it just lagged the whole time, so took it into harvey norman to check it out they rebooted it and now i my original fingerprints dont work and when i try to install it again it says already stored but their is no finger prints stored in the finger print menu, however my game started running with less lag, but then once i passed a few levels it starts massivly lagging again, i have called toshiba support and havnt had much luck accept to take it back to harvey normans and get them to sort it but i havnt had much luck so far. I payed $3,300 for this machine and was promised it was the best for gaming but so far has been a massive headache, is it because its 64 bit?  this model doesnt have an option to run in 32 bit as its designed only for 64 bit... advice? shall i take it back to harvey normans and make them fix it till it runs perfect with no lag or never crashes on any of my games (it even crashes on colin mcrae dirt)
Any help would be greatly appreciated and model details are below

Go to Solution.

It had problems the first day i brought it, and then when i installed modern warfare 2 it lagged like crazy and i returned it to harvey normans straight away to complain about it, then they reformated it and, i lost the fingerprinting ability with a few of my fingers as it stored it in a place where i cant delete and it wont recognise it any more, alot of people have this problem also with upgrading their toshiba to windows 7 where mine is reformating, and then the computer crashes on colin mcrae dirt constantly and especially when it loads the races up, then it freezes whilst watching a dvd on it in which i have to restart the computer, then the most recent event is it goes to a blue screen and tells me its dumping physical memory then shuts down and when rebooted the prompting got worse till the point where i have had to do a recovery where it is back to some what of a stable state but end result im not happy at all with this laptop and i wish i never brought it. If toshiba wants my money in future they better sort this problem out asap.
This is all i could gather from the computer crashing.

Why does my Toshiba laptop hum when I plug into amp when using power adapter Qosmio X500-02G.
When I run on baterry no hum

    Hi drs,
That means your notebook creates noises when AC/DC adapter is connected?!
Well, its hard to say something about this. Is the noise coming from your notebook or AC/DC adaptor itself?
What operating system you have installed?
Are you using newest BIOS version?
In your case I would check the current BIOS version and have a look on official Toshiba website for an update. After the update load the default settings in BIOS and check if this worked or not.

  • How to deactivate Windows Key on Qosmio X500 while gaming?

    Hey,
I just bought my first ever laptop and went with the Qosmio X500/02M.
Am having a bit of trouble adjusting to the keyboard layout at the moment after years of desktop and normal keyboard use.
I seem to have trouble epsecially with the Windows Logo Key while i'm gaming in that i keep hitting it and getting popped out to the desktop.
Have looked in all the places i can think of to disable this key, does anyone know of a way i can do this so i dont have to resort to actually popping the button out of the keyboard itself ?

    Hi
In Windows registry you can disable the Windows key. Unfortunately it disables only the key combinations like Windows-key + E (start explorer) but if you press the Windows-key only, it still opens the Windows menu.
    Anyway, here it is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer
There you have to create the new key NoWinKeys (REG_DWORD). Set the value data to 1.
Restart your notebook and check this again!

  • Changing colour settings on Qosmio X500/02G

How do I change the colour settings on my X500/02G running Windows Home?
At present the colours are way too bright and saturated - similar to the way tvs are set up in stores.
I've changed the brightness to no effect. I've checked the NVIDIA software but its not controling the colours some other sofware is - which I cant find
    Any ideas?

    Hi
How did you change the brightness? Normally therefore you can use the key combinations FN+F6 and FN+F7.
Furthermore the colors can be changed in driver options of your graphic card. Right click on the desktop and choose the display properties. In advanced options you can find it and the driver menu will appear.

I don't know about Toshiba fingerprint utility as my laptop isn't equipped. But have you tried to update/reinstall [utility|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp]?

  • Qosmio x500/02G Number Pad Not Working

    Hello,
I have a x500 that i recently purchased and installed Windows 7 Professional on it. Now i cannot use the number pad on the right hand side of the keyboard.
I've tried using various combinations of NUMLOCK and SCROLLLOCK to no avail. Surely there a seperate number pad doesn't require drivers?!

The problem was a faulty keyboard. there was a bank of keys on the numeric pad that were non-functional.
A bit dissapointing given i'd had the laptop for less than 24 hours. Took it back to the store for a replacement.

The laptop was warming up so much that the fan had melted and separated from the bottom cover at one of the ends. I took the laptop from repair on 23.07.2012 and they made me pay for fixing it. <br /><br />On 01.10.2012 I left the laptop for repair again due to overheating and shutdown problems. The temperature began literally to melt and bend the upper and lower lid ... <br /><br />The lower lid wasdeformed to such an extent that it is separated from the rear side and had trouble with the hinge of the display. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Its really pity that you had such problems with your notebook. :(
Hardware problems are really annoying and I can understand your very well.
You said the notebook has been taken for the repair again so lets hope it will be fixed properly this time
    Ive got two Toshiba notebooks.
Both have been running properly all the time. But of A210 shut-off automatically some month ago.
I disassembled the notebook (warranty was not valid anymore) and cleaned the fans.
The cooling modules were really dirty and I removed a lot of dust.
I renewed also the thermal grease. Since then the unit run properly. No shut down anymore.
However, good luck mate and hopefully the agents will be able to fix the hardware problems.

  • Qosmio X500 - Black screen crash when loading games, requiring reboot

I have a brand new Qosmio X500 (PQX33A-00X00J) with all the original drivers as they came out the box, and 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium OS. The only thing I've done on this laptop is install games. The laptop runs fine for most things, and for a very few games (Unreal Tournament 2007 is the only one so far), but almost all games crash with a black screen the first time they're run. Sometimes I'll see a splash screen the first time, and once or twice I've got to a start screen, but thereafter the screen goes completely black, no sound, and the machine freezes requiring a reboot.
It's extremely frustrating, considering this is a brand new, out of the box gaming laptop, and I haven't changed any drivers or anything. It's running an Nvidia Geforce GTS 250M display card, and the native resolution for the LCD screen is 1920x1080. I suspect it may have something to do with the unusual native screen resolution or the aspect ratio, because I managed to get one game to run (FEAR) by going into the supplied config utility and setting the game's default screen resolution to 1024x768. FEAR has the same crash if set to a higher resolution.
    The games I've tried:
Unreal Tournament 2007 - runs perfectly at all resolutions
Half Life 2 - crashes on launch with black screen, no sound, requiring reboot.
Counter Strike - the 1st time I managed to the setup screen, changed screen resolution, it crashed immediately. Thereafter it crashes straight away on launch, I can't even get to the setup screen. Uninstalled, reinstalled, same thing, crashes on launch with black screen, requiring reboot.
Bioshock - only ever got a "Bioshock" logo, then crashes with black screen, requiring reboot.
Frontlines - Fuel of War - crashes on launch with blank screen, requiring reboot.
Call Of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare - crashes immediately on loading with black screen, requiring reboot.
Crysis - crashes immediately on loading with black screen, requiring a reboot.
Except for UT 2007, almost every game has just crashed the first time it's been run, I usually don't even get a 1st shot at trying to change any settings. I've tried loading the games that provide a safe mode in that (e.g. Modern Warfare), but the same thing happens. I've also tried setting the laptop resolution to 1024x768 before running the games, but no difference. I've also made sure I'm running the latest patched version of the games, and I've checked the Toshiba website, but there are no driver updates so far that I can find for this laptop either.
I'm completely pulling my hair out, and solving this is very time consuming, because every time I try anything I have to reboot before I can try something else. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Someone suggested I try turning off my antivirus, and it turns out that was the problem. It seems Comodo has compatibility problems with games in Windows 64-bit editions since one of their latest releases.

  • QOSMIO X500-12D - webcam, bluetooth and fingerprint disconnection issues

    Hello,
I still got no solution for this problem. I already did a clean install of Win 7 x64 but still no luck. The devices still keeping disconnecting and I have to reboot to resolve. (this is bad since I normaly using a bluetooth keyboard)
Further this Problem seems not only to occour if system goes 'idle' since my bluetooth keyboard was disconnected during typing. (whatever 'idle' means).
Sometimes I was able to recover at least the Bluetooth connection by turn it off and on again within the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack, sometimes with the HW switch (which also deactivates the WLAN) and sometimes only a reboot helped.
It seems that all three devices (Bluetooth, Webcam, Fingerprintsensor) are connected to the same integrated USB root hub within the system.
After my last test, everything was working before I left the system during a nightly copy operation of a 'few' gig, I come back after ~4 hours and all devices were disconnected (HW not installed) --&gt; I checked in the device manager (see [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/241257] to show devices which are not connected and in the computermanagement right click device manager -&gt; View -&gt; Show hidden devices) all 3 devices shown as 'not connected'.
I already opened a case at support and they told me to update the bios. (when I opened the call the tests were done with the latest bios available)
Nevertheless, I also had a small talk with the support and they told me to restore the system from the recovery DVD's and check if the problem persists after the restore of the 'certified' image (drivers and so on). If it still persists they will do a HW repair. (change mainboard or whatever)
*AGAIN... is there still NO solution out there? I have searched the web and found many people with the same issues. (X500 owners and others)*
    _What did i tried:_
    - different hotfixes as described at [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB0402UQ0001R01.htm] and [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ0402UC0001R01.htm] ([http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978258])
    - right now I am using [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981214] since the build numbers of the files are higher than in the hotfix mentioned above and therefor this hotfix should also resolve the problem described in [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978258]. (and I am using an USB audio device)
    - I also tried to disable different things of the power management (e.g. disabled usb selective suspending)
    Modell QOSMIO X500-12D
    Partnumber PQX33E-030009GR
    BS-Version Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1.7600 x64
    BIOS-Version V2.60
    CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz
RAM 4096MB RAM {color:#ff0000}(&lt;- Toshiba Tools reports wrong RAM size, 6GB installed)
    {color}HD Size 499,685,253,120 [Byte] 465.368 [GB]
Video NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M Version=8.17.12.5896
    Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080

    HI,
It seems that I have found a solution for this problem.
If you have read my first post exactly you should have read that i already disabled the selective USB suspend.
I have connected 2 external USB hubs which are powered by an AC/DC adapter. On this USB hubs I have connected varios USB devices...7.1 USB Headset, external HDD's, PDA, Card Reader, PKI device, USB Sticks, etc.
Nevertheless, I also disabled the the Powermanagement settings on all devices which were involved and where it is possible.
To do this goto the device manager --&gt; right click --&gt; View --&gt; show devices by connection.
Now locate your bluetooth, webcam and fingerprint device. (be carefull names might be different because of different drivers!)
    Should be under ACPI x64-based PC --&gt; PCI-Bus --&gt; Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller --&gt; {color:#ff0000}*USB-Root-Hub*{color} --&gt; {color:#ff0000}*Generic USB Hub*{color} --&gt;
There you should find all integrated devices which are troublemaker:
    * {color:#ff0000}*AuthenTec Inc. AES2550*{color}
    * Bluetooth USB Controller-7 from TOSHIBA
    * USB-Webcam
Now double click every device in this 'chain' and locate the powermanagement TAB. (Please note that NOT all devices in this chain do have a powermanagement tab and cannot be configured....that's ok)
On the power management tab uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' and click OK.
I have done this for all devices which are {color:#ff0000}*marked red in the chain above*{color}. (_I also deactivated the USB selective suspend in the used powermanagement plan!)_
It seems to work now....until now no more bluetooth problem or devices which were gone. It might be that it is enough to disable the Power saving settings only on one or two devices, but right now i had no time to test.
Please also keep in mind that I am using the latest Intel Chipset driver, latest Toshiba drivers and installed the Microsoft hotfixes described in my first post in this thread!
It would be very nice if some people can try and post here if it works!
    Regards

  • Qosmio X500-10X returns to windows during gaming

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Qosmio X500-10X running 64 bit windows 7, and for some reason it frequently and repeatedly returns to windows while gaming. The reason is unknown, although it looks as if something in windows is drawing attention to itself, but their are no alerts or additional icons visible in the task bar once back in windows. Additionally some games can be very difficult to return to once in windows.
Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi,
Just a brief update, i have checked the windows action center, and when the computer returns to windows, the action center reports this as a video hardware error. This leads me to suspect that either their is a problem with the graphics card itself, or that an updated driver is needed, although i am uncertain as to which. I am currently running the latest drivers available for the X500 running the GTS 250 available from the Toshiba website, and have tried re-installing them in case they had somehow become corrupted, so apart from waiting for the release of a new driver i'm out of ideas.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Qosmio X500-10V - Problems writing BD-RE DL discs

    Hi,
    I have a Qosmio X500- 10V which includes a Blu Ray writer.
The technical specification sais that BD-R (Dual Layer) is possible but ... also BD-RE DL (Dual Layer).
Now I bought a few discs (BD-RE DL from Verbatim) and I tried to write my movie.
But The system doesn't regognize the disc.
The Pinnacle Studio 16 sais always that I have to put a disc into the drive.
I tried also with opening the the windows explorer but also there it sais that there is no disc in the drive.
I am upset and I don't understand why that happens.
Do you have an idea. Is it possible that those drive have problems with *BD-RE* (rewritable) Discs?
Or is it possible that there has to be configured something before using the drive to write BluRay (I don't think that but you never know)?
I hope some of you have an idea.
    Cheers,
    Joel

Im no sure if you have generally problems using Verbatim disks.
I use DVD R from verbatim and they are ok but my drive is different.
I made good experience using TDK disks
    >plus or minus?
    The supported BD are minus:
    BD-R 6x(Max)
    BD-R DL 4x(Max)
    BD-RE 2x(Max)
    BD-RE DL 2x
    >Rewritable (RE) or only single writing (R)?
According to the information I found R and RE are supported.
    > Driver problem? Is there a version which MUST be installed to write Blu Ray discs?
Dont think so since there is no special driver for and optical disk drive the Windows uses the common Microsoft driver
    > Are there any experiences which brand and which type have been used in the X500-10V successfully from people?
As far as I know in user manual you can find some info about good working disks.

  • Qosmio X500-Q895S Fan Noise on Right

    Qosmio X500-Q895S:
The fan on the right side, above the numeric pad, is making a noise like it is hitting something soft.
Is there a way I can clean the fan or is the fan going bad?
The fan does not make the noise all the time.
The warranty ends on July 26, 2011.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Guys;
Definitely Qosmio :x505 800 series has a serious fan quality problem. Somehow TOSHIBA does not want to see this issue and keep ignoring.
All what we can do is to discuss the same issue here endlessly and helplessly? I bought my Qosmio X505 Q896 a year ago. What a surprising!! Coincidence; just after my warranty has expired then cooling fans started to make extreme rattling noise. I crossed my fingers and try to clean the fans using a canned air; offcourse didn’t work, because this is purely related to the quality of fans used on $3K gaming machine.
I sent my machine to the authorised Toshiba service. They confirmed that fan’s bearing is worn out and need to replace. I am pretty sure that all you know removing the defected fans is not a piece of cake and it should be done by a professional technician. And if you are lucky enough service centers could find the right model spare fan for your machine.
Good luck to all of you and my humble suggestion is next time never ever buy a Toshiba

  • Upgraded Qosmio X500-10T to Win 8.1: Sound drivers for 5.1 over HDMI

    Hello *brilliant* Toshiba community,
I have recently upgraded my Qosmio X500-10T from 64-bit Windows 7 to 64-bit Windows 8.1.
I have left Windows to download driver updates.
My setup: Qosmio (HDMI) => Yamaha AV receiver (HDMI) => Samsun LCD TV.
_The Problem:_ Playing a video file (in MPC-HC) with 5.1 sound only outputs 2 channel PCM.
Would it be better to install the Win 7 drivers from Toshiba even though they are older and for a different OS, or install windows 8.1 drivers from another Qosmio, or leave the Win 8.1 drivers found by Microsoft?
This driver issue is made more problematic as I don't actually know what the technical hardware components are in the machine so its not as though I can find a win 8 driver for them.
As always any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Hi
From my knowledge the Win 7 drivers are totally different from Win 8.1 drivers and I doubt that Win 7 driver would work properly on Windows 8.1 system. However, you can test such Win 7 drivers too. But of course I would recommend you to use the Win 8.1 drivers released for other notebook series.
As Im not mistaken the Qosmio X500 needs 2 sound drivers: Conexant (chip CX20583-10Z) sound driver as well as the nVidia sound driver (for HDMI)
