Qosmio X500 - Improvements of new BIOS update

Does anybody know what issues are addressed by the BIOS update issued on 7th of January 2010?

You can see the list of fixes at the US Toshiba SIte at:
[http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2436373& rpn=PQX33U&modelFilter=X505-Q850&selCategory=3&selFamily=804517]
Select the 1.4 BIOS upgrade to see the change history.
I installed 1.4 and now my X505-850 won't come out of sleep mode, I have to force a power off by holding down the power button. I see other people with the same problem with 1.4. I have to use Hibernate or shut it down. It does fix the Fan problem with enabling the "USB Sleep and Charge" feature.

Found a new BIOS update 1.9 on the Australian Toshiba Website. This morning it was showing version 1.40, but now it says version 1.90. I will try it on my X500 when I get home tonight, see if it fixes the Sleep-wake up issue.

  • How to disable Toshiba TEMPRO alerts about new BIOS update

Hi just installed TEMPRO on my W8 Satellite L875 laptop, ant it's saying there's a new bios update available - (1.60-WIN) which is the same version as I've already got.?:|
    Q: how can I make this alert go-away ?
    -Tom

Thanks, but that's not quite what I had in mind ...
I would have expected tempro to examine my system & installed components, and to alert me when a new/updated driver is released. I would then install the new/updated driver, and then tempro should dismiss the alert - or perhaps I'm just not understanding how tempro works ?

  • Satellite A500-149: Would new BIOS update 2.00-win solve illumination issue

    Hi
I need help because i have one toshiba A500-149 but the ilumination of keyboard dont work (FN+Z).
I see a new Bios update and my question is:
This new update 2.00 win solve that problem?
    this upgrate is secure?

In my opinion the BIOS 2.0 update does not solve your problem.
A friend of mine is an A500 owner and the backlight keyboard functions using old BIOS.
I think there must be another reason for your backlight problem.
Did you see this knowledge base article?
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD2603CL0000R01.htm
in some cases you need to press FN + Y due to different keyboard layout.
The FN buttons are controlled by value added package as reported by users above...
Reinstallation of VAP should help you be sure you use the latest VAP recommend using one released for newer series like A660/A665
But if the VAP does not help, and if backlight is enabled in BIOS, then there must be a hardware issue maybe the 2nd keyboard cable is not connected properly to the backlight connector loose connection might cause this

  • Northbridge temps and the new bios update

I know the Northbridge temperature issue has been posted before. But I’m posting in relations to the new bios update supposed to be released 08/24. Will these temp issues be resolved in this new bios update?
There could be many reasons why the Northbridge temps are so high, ranging from bad heatsink design to Northbridge fan blowing too fast. Mine runs 55C idle which is way too high…but when I go to touch the heatsink, it’s barely warm. A lot of people have been complaining about the “light show” on the Northbridge, but heck I like it. I think it’s pretty cool
One last thing I’d like to bring up, this new bios update, I don’t know whether or not 1.6 supports DDR500mhz Ram (because I don’t have it yet) but will it support it? Reason being is I plan on buying DDR500mhz Ram and do some more overclocking.
1:1 Cpu to Ram ratio here I COME!!! :D

ROFLMAO  (first sign of insanity when you laugh about a such sad matter)
Maesus, its nothing personal, but do you really believe there will be a v1.8 BIOS? To me it looks like MSI has abandoned the 875P. BIOS v1.7 is supposed to come when? ...August 28th? That's 2 months since the last one and as far as I have heard there has not much changed over v1.6. When is v1.8 supposed to come? Another 2 months later? Not to speak of v1.9... That makes about 5 months to get the board working the way it was supposed to do from the first day (if v1.7 solves something at all).
Sorry, but MSI is about to lose all trustworthiness with this so called support. And moderators in a company's forum who are not even employees of that company, and have to take guesses (see Prescott support) about the products, do not help to make the situation much better (again, nothing personal). If the support team would take a look by themselves on a regularly basis (1-2 times a week) perhaps then the problems would be solved much faster. If I would work like this and not care about the customers I would have lost my job long ago.
There are still many problems. The board is on the market for some months now and memory compatibility and timings are still an issue.
I've visited many forums the last week. And I do hear (read) almost the same everywhere: Poeple who bought the 875P board say its high quality and has good features, if it only would work as supposed. MSI miserably fails to give it a working BIOS. Results in polls about "MSI 875P board good or bad" tend to be weighed horribly to "bad". Most of the ppl will never again buy a MSI board because they feel left alone with their problems.
It is clear that ppl who are satisfied do not post that in forums. But when something is wrong, they do, because they want the problems solved. But what are support forums good for when no one is listening to the complaints?
In times who prices are almost the same for the products, ppl tend to buy that product, that not only has the best features but also good support. When it comes to that MSI is not first choice.

  • Requires new BIOS update

Hi, I bought a new network card Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 and I tried to install it into my HP DV6-6171TX however the BIOS state that it is not supported. I tried to look for BIOS update but the latest update they have online is in year 2011 version F.1B. Can I get new BIOS update to that I can get the network card to work?

Ok throught the manual which I went through, I bought an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 which was also stated inside the manual however after I had changed to it and tried to bootup my laptop, the bios still have the same error. I am using the Intel processor, not the Amd one.
You have to use a wireless card under the exact part number (BIOS will reject any other and you get the error). The part number for Intel 6230 belongs to a different Intel wireless card (unfortunate error from HP). I think it's Intel 1030. Dv6-6000 series is the last series with the whitelist still in it. There is an Intel 6230 listed under a part number: 636672-001. Perhaps it will work.
edit: I have found Intel 6205 listed under 631954-001 but it's a pure wireless card, not a combo with bluetooth.

  • W520 and new bios update

I saw lenovo released the new bios update for the W520 and it says they updated the cpu microcode. Does that mean it will accept Ivy Bridge CPU's?
Also what is your thought on W500 laptops in today's world? Are they worth hanging onto for anything or basically obsolete. I have 7 of them with the 1920x1200 resolution screen and 4 gb ram, would they be able to run the newer versions of autocad and catia?

no the W520 doesn't accept Ivy Bridge CPU.
The W500 run AutoCAD and Catia, but would be very slow if you have many parts. So if you are using the W500 for work, then you should consider upgrading.

  • My Qosmio F10 is dead after Bios Update

My Qosmio F10 is dead after BIOS update ... it doesn't work anymore .. i update the bios from 1.10 to 1.20
the switch Led is always orange...
what can i do to make it work again ? or return the 1.10 version?

    Hi
You can check many postings in this forum about the BIOS upgrade procedure.
Mostly the users damage the notebook because of wrong BIOS or wrong BIOS procedure.
If the notebook is dead after this procedure so it could be a damage motherboard.
In this case only the Toshiba service partner can solve this issue. ;(

  • Qosmio X500-11U- Question about new BIOS update

    Hi to everyone
I need to clarify a matter, the BIOS update that was released December 2010 was the 2.90 now a new release march 2011 is named 1.40! Is this an upgrade a downgrade or a joke? Should I proceed with the newest 1.40 or stick with the old 2.90?
I forgot to mention that I own a X500-11U and thanks in advance

    Hi nick73,
On Toshiba European driver download page there are two different versions available:
    BIOS-Update 1.40-WIN for X500 PQX34E models
    BIOS-Update 2.90-WIN for X500 PQX33E models
Your model the X500-11U belongs to PQX33E series and that means only BIOS Update 2.90 is compatible and 1.40 would be the wrong version.
So its not a joke and before you search for BIOS update next time, also use the correct part number ;)

  • Satellite A500-025 - Improvements of new BIOS version

I did a bios update on my Satellite A500-025. I had a BIOS version 1.2 and updated to BIOS 1.5.
Anyone know what the improvements are and is it advisable to always do a BIOS update when a new one comes out?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Normally the BIOS changelog is placed on the Toshiba notebook but if you cant find it, unfortunately there is no changelog available.
By the way: I have noticed that BIOS changelogs are often placed on the Toshiba US page. Maybe you can find it there.
And this update should only be done if its really necessary. If you dont have any problems, forget this update.
Never touch a running system!!! ;)

  • Omni 10 New BIOS update

I noticed today that there is a new BIOS for the Omni 10 in the files area. Having been burned by the last BIOS update I've not installed the latest. The last update caused me to lose HDCP and MIracast functionality and required a lot of haggling with customer service to eventually get a new tablet (which I'm in the process of setting up).
So, has anyone tried Omni 10 BIOS link yet? Any problems or improvements noted?

    The "Adventure" continues...
I've been bothered by info I received earlier from "crack" HP Support team, re. Omni 10 BIOS version numbers; Floor Supervisor stated F.09 latest, and F.0C was earliest shipping version. However that's backwards from what I would expect for an incremental numbering scheme (in hexidecimal notation, 0C = decimal 13 — suggesting that  BIOS revs 10, 11, 12 blew-up on the launch-pad & were never released).  About an hour ago, I rechecked HP Support Assistant — which was still blissfully unaware, but HP DL site now recommends new BIOS for Omni 10 (& other portables) = Version F.0C.
Largely due to inane, inept tech support for the Omni 10, I don't use mine for anything important, so I decided to "risk-it-all" by installing the BIOS upgrade to F.0C... Turns-out — risk-it-all" wasn't an understatement, because my lovely Omni-trinket is now BRICKED!!!
I feel certain that after submitting to several hours of endlessly repeating answers to the same questions and phonetic-spelling of every 3rd word, I will eventually prevail & be offered the coup de grace of escalation to a "Case Manager." Nevertheless, I feel honor-bound to warn my compatriots in the trenches, of what they might be in-for by installing the BIOS upgrade (there is no undo from a flashing).
(On the other hand, if at least one-thousand Omni-owners were to ALSO simultaneously "Brick" their tablets, I'll bet that would produce a slight seismic tremor under HP's Palo Alto headquarters... Not that I'm actually suggesting that, of course!)
signed : Lou  (aka, "the Brickman")
    Stay tuned...
