Qosmio X500/Win7(64 bit) hangs from time to time

Hi there
I have this strange issue - my brand new computer just hangs from time to time and the only way to resolve this is to turn it off and then back on. I've tried everything like updating the drivers and etc but nothing helps.
Please give me at least few ideas how I can at least spot the real problem.

I did not do anything unusual - no fancy games or applications. One time I just use the chrome browser, another time it was right after I closed the windows game "hearts", another case was right after I "wake-up"the computer from sleep mode. It usually freeze the monitor for a second or two and then it either resume normally of hang forever.
I was thinking that this may be caused by the graphic card (because once I received an warning that the graphic card stopped responding and then resumed) and I tried to update with the latest driver from NVidia but after the update I start getting messages "can't start directX" on different applications so I had to revert the driver.
I am also using dynadock DVI - maybe this is the cause but if it is then why it happens also when I resume the computer from sleep?
I don't use any antivirus - I use microsoft essential.
Anyway if anyone can help to at least spot the real cause I will be grateful forever because this is became my nightmare.

How is Acrobat 8 not fully Windows 7 compatible? I see discussions on this Adobe Community saying how Acrobat 8 does work on Windows 7 and with 64-bit. It appears that if Acrobat 8 is updated to the latest version, then this should fix AA8-Win7 issues. And I am at the latest AA8 version, 8.3.1.
And how are Acrobat 8 and Reader XI are not compatible? I have always had Acrobat and Reader installed on the same PC, without ever having any issues. And Adobe allows the installation of one after the other. So apparently Adobe allows them both to exist together. If they are incompatible, then why would Adobe allow them to exist together?
Anyway, I did uninstall the FileOpen Plug-in and the Reader XI, then reinstalled the FileOpen Plug-in. So now Reader is not installed and only Acrobat 8 is installed. I then tried to load the PDF file, but I still get the Acrobat 8 error described above.

Applet viewer / mozills / netscape6 hang from time to time

we are using a 3 tier setup
(db <--> forms server <--> client with appletviewer)
the database server runs on solaris, the forms server and the clients are running debian stable (woody) (clients use j2sdk1.3)
the forms server is version 9.2. from time to time the applet viewer (or mozilla or netscape; doesnt matter) just hang. from time to time here means like 4 times in the last 2 weeks. the progress indicator in the right lower corner moves from side to side but nothing happens, the gui doesnt get updated anymore and i have to kill the task and any uncommited info is lost :((( . in the server logs i can find this:

Possible causes include a network failure or client termination
well, i know that its not a hardware prob since with a 8i client installed everything works perfectly.
i have also tried to use j2sdk1.4 from sun.com but the appletviewer from this version behaves very strangely and keyboard input is often being misinterpreted.
what is considered the most stable client setup for linux clients?
am i overseeing something?
do i have to make any special configuration on the clients?

QuickTime and MPEG-4 movie files that end in ".mov", ".m4v", or ".mp4" and are playable in QuickTime Player.

How do you enable recording from internal speaker on Qosmio X500?
Is this possible because from Control Panel / Sound / Recording only microphone can be seen.

Do you want to record the sound that will be played through the internal speakers?
Therefore you can use the Windows Sound Recorder or other tools like Audacity. Latter is a very nice freeware tool. :)

Print to Acrobat on LR 2.6 Win7 64-bit hangs?

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit with a clean install. I have installed Lightroom 2.6 and all is well EXCEPT I cannot print to the Acrobat 9 PDF "Printer". Lightroom and Acrobat hang and Lightroom must be killed and restarted.
I assume this is a 64 to 32 bit driver problem.
Does anyone know of a workaround?
Has anyone else seen this?

Qosmio X500-11G - Incrorrect turning off from sleeping mode

Hello everebody,
When I leave my X500-11G (Windows 7 64bit) in turning on condition and no one process is working computer is turning off incorectly in stead of go to sleeping mode. After that X500 don't responce for keyboard and mouse and I have to push power button for continue. X500 is turning on but BIOS informs about incorrect turning off Windows and propose different ways of restart Windows: normal start or safety modes.
Is this problerm famous and how to fix it?

To be honest I also dont know why it happens but theoretically this problem could be caused by software... Are you using preinstalled Windows version or have you installed your own Windows version?
Furthermore I would recommend loading the default settings in BIOS. Therefore press F9 key in BIOS setup.
Have also a look in Windows Event Viewer. Usually you can find a log file about all errors and maybe you can find an interesting information about this problem.

DB Adapter Hangs from time to time ? ... anyone else noticed this ?

I have noticed [ SOA Suite 10.1.3.3 with patches ]
that a simple DB-Adapter - > 1:1RS -> DB-Adapter deleting rows as it goes - i.e. just moving rows can become hung
Matching Primary Keys are on both tables and they are all simple types [ string, int ]
DB = 10.2.0.3 Oracle in both cases.
the outbound adapter = INSERT OR MERGE operations
No errors are apparent in ESB console
Bouncing the java container [ opmnctl stopall and startall ] solves the issue but this is a very big hammer. I'd like to solve this.
My only problem is it only seems to happen in production which I can't debug easily; the test implementation works fine.
One possible thing I have noticed after a deep submergence in diagnosis is that the jms internal transaction tables seem to be full [ viewed in the OC4J admin pages ]
Do I need to configure something more appropriate like the DB JMS provider or has anyone else run into the issue ?
It doesn't help that Oracle keep releasing patch bundles and not telling people about it either

I work on Toshiba Quosmio X500 (win7 64 bit) in a specialized program that is installed only on systems 32-bit.
I can not find video driver for the installed system 32-bit on the second disk of the laptop.
Please help me to find it.

At the moment it seems that only Windows 7 64bit driver is available.
As Al-eX wrote you could use the compatibility mode of Windows 7. There you can run XP in a virtual machine (32bit). ;)

Qosmio X500: Lan/Internet connection get lost after period of time

Hi all,.
I got the qosmio x500 for about half a year now...
I got this problem where after about 5 hours or less the lan/internet connection get lost.
I disabled the wireless connection and is using only the wired connnection now.
When it get disconnected... all devices seems to work seemlessly, no problem can be found. I checked the win7 network adaptor --and it seems to be connected properly.
I haven't got a slightest idea how to fix that.... Only a reset of the system and reloading the os results with a valid connection.
It is even stranger,. When using it for a piriod of time (listeding to audio streams from the web)... when getting back to the machine the audio connection seems to work properly.... but when trying to access other sites, or other machines in the homegroup, or network (under explorer). It result faulty.
Please guide me somehow how to fix the issue, it is bugging me a lot (all these resets to the machine probably doesn't do it any good as well).

It could be the energy saving feature of your network card.
Right click Network Icon on the status bar, choose 'Open Network Center and Sharing', Click on 'Connection', Click on 'Properties' (low left button), you'll see the tab with your Network Properties. Click 'Configure' (Upper right button), choose 'Power Management' (last right tab).
Uncheck 'Allow computer to shut down this device to save energy'. Probably your problem will now be solved.
If the names I write aren't exactly right, I'm on a French language computer so my translations can be slightly wrong.

Qosmio X500/00X System Recovery (Factory Reset) From Hard Disk Drive or Separate Disk

My Situation
In December 2009 I purchased a Toshiba Qosmio X500 - Model No. PQX33A-00X00J
At the time I upgraded my purchase from Toshiba Reseller BD4U, going from the standard 1x 500GB Sata drive + 1x 64GB SSD... to instead having 2x 500GB sata drives. I purchased with 3 year onsite next business day warranty, that is is now expired.
It came loaded with MS Win 7 Premium Home Edition - but no disks provided.
My Needs
I need/want to factory reset my PC - its starting to run slow
I need to re-partition from my existing 4x partitions to just having 2
The Issues
Possibly as a result of upgrading the disk drives at time of purchase, I don't believe I have a hidden Recovery partition in order to do a System Recovery from the Hard Disk Drive - see image of my current partitions attached
I don't have Win 7 OS installation disks or Toshiba Driver disks as they should have been installed by Toshiba
My Questions
Do You agree that I DONT have a Recovery Partition - when looking at the partition image? I'm confused on this point coz people say its hidden!?
Given I have no Toshiba Drivers Disk or Windows 7 OS disks - what should I do? I'm thinking of downloading Win 7 (use my product key from sticker under PC) and making a disk/USB (but need to learn how)
Is this where I get ALL necessary Toshiba drivers for my PC from?
Does Toshiba provide a link on its site and instructions on where to get Win 7 from so I can make a recover disk??

Tried to email Toshiba support but at step 1 of their email process validation failed due to my PC being out of warranty so will call them on Monday instead

I suspected I didn't have a recovery partition - so thanks for confirming it as I planned to risk it and try! I guess it doesn't really matter why, and it would be futile to go and blame the re-seller or Toshiba at this late stage in the game in hopes they would help...
Yeah, I just went to Microsoft Software Recovery hoping to download Win 7 OS and create a recovery disk but of course Microsoft would NOT allow it due to it being software that was pre-installed on the device blah blah blah (see error image)
And I didn't bother back then in 2009 to create recovery media as you wisely descibed, mostly due to laziness and mentally putting it in the 'too hard basket'...I didn't really understand it - or much about computers at the time.
Re - your Option #2 - thanks for confirming Toshiba drivers. I could/can do this - but don't really want to buy something I already have, perhaps I'll check out ebay or see if a friend has a disk
Re - your Option #1 - I'm currently based in Vietnam and wont be back in Oz till late in the year, so will see if I can find a reliable Toshiba service provider here - but wont hold me breath on this one
I'm thinking that IF Option #1 is a No-Go then - maybe Plan B or Option #3 could be:
Do an Audit of Programs to identify those I don't need and can safely remove - then remove using Control Panel/ Remove Programs tool
Reformat all other drives (not C:// where OS is)
Then use some re-partition software e.g. Disk-Partiton.com
Any final thoughts???

Acrobat XI Standard ramdomly crashes scanning from Fujitsu fi6770a on Win7 64 bit

I have a user that a couple of time a day has Acrobat crash when the are scanning 8 1/12x11 2 sided B&W documents in the document feeder and says "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working". Screen shot and dump file link attached.

I have been dealing with the same problem, but we are using Win7 32 bit system and the same scanner, since prior to October 2013. (I only know this because I joined this forum to find an answer and have yet to do so.)
How is it that a product that is so costly only works about 30% of the time. Trust me when I say, if there was another program that was compatible with the other software I used, the company I work for would no longer use Adobe. I'm having to scan my documents anywhere from 2-7 times before I can get Adobe to stop crashing. Sometimes I end up giving up and hoping that the next day will have better results (it generally scans fine for about 30 minutes and then crashes consistently).
I also have different scanning stations, with different users and we are all experiencing the same thing.
Has anyone found a solution? I'm beyond frustrated and have tried every "fix" listed on this forum.

Can't access files in Time Capsule in WIN7 64 Bit- says folder is empty

Hi there. I can't seem to access my files in Time Capsule using WIN7 64 BIT, it works fine as a router , i can see the time capsule online and how much space it's occupied, however whenever i click on it , it says folder it empty. I can access the files from OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
I tried to drag and drop new files into the Time Capsule in WIN7 , it copies/paste the files fine for a second and then disappear, and if i go back to the Snow Leopard i can see those folders again , so i am guessing i need enable some kind access/ file sharing option or whatever that allows the files to be visible. Has anyone faced this situation in WIN7 64 BIT ?

I have a problem with my Qosmio X500-10T:
After placing it into Sleep mode, upon waking it up again (opening the lid, pressing a key, moving the mouse or pressing the power button) the screen fails to turn on (it could possibly be a black screen, although I doubt it as I cannot really see any traces of the LED backlight). The only way beyond this is rebooting by holding down the power button.
I appreciate any help.

I have a X500-10T, under 4 weeks old. Straight from the box it had the problems with going to sleep/hibernation and the only way to bringit back to life was to remove the battery and follow the reset procedue as instructed by Toshiba technicians. Currently the sleep and hibenation has been disabled, it was unuasble. I have a bluetooth mouse that also is a nightmare, it drops in and out of operation at any time, mostly if left untouched for a while. Some times a reboot brings it back to life whilst at other times it takes 30-40 minutes of switching on and off a number of settings, cant' realy workout what's going on. This unit was supplied with the latest BIOS ver 1.4 so not known any difference.
Technicians aslo did a full re-set bakt to factory defaults, this did not make any difference apard from giving me several hours of work in restalling all my programmes. I am worried as I only have just over 11 months warranty left. I have been advised not to use the fingure print identification system as any protected data will be un recoverable if it goes wrong, I would be interested if any other users have any concerns about this, the reminder to set this is driving me crazy, and apparently it can't be switched off when I asked.Has any one who had thee issues managed to get it sorted. The big question for me is it a BIOS problem, graphic card software issue or a Windows 7 issue.

I have win7 64 bit, and when I tried installing the new update, it failed. I tried reinstalling and still no joy. I have attempted this several times. This is first time experiencing this. Is there a fix in the works?

I have Win7 64 bit and when I tried to install the latest I-Tunes update it failed and told me to reinstall. I attempted the reinstall and got the same result. I have attempted this several times already even after following the recommendations from Apple website to correct this problem. I have installed numerous updates for I-Tunes and this is the first one to fail. Is there a fix in the works from Apple for this? I believe the update is flawed and should be re-evaluated by Apple and this update re-issued with different version #.

Qosmio X500-148 freezes from day 1

I just bought a X500-148. Started freezing from day 1. I thought it was the sharescope software I was using. However the vendor tells me the software has no issues, so I began to suspect it was my 1800 quid X500. I updated all the drivers, but it still would freeze intermittently. Then one day I powered it down and it froze whilst in the power down mode and I had to remove the power cord and battery to fully switch it off.
After this, it would often not even go through the boot process. When it did boot up and load windows, I tried the re-install windows to earlier date option. Needless to say it froze during the middle of this and so windows 7 is now also totaly corrupt and knackered.
I have been told by an expert it has to be the Toshiba hardware, i.e. the laptop itself as the fact it was freezing during booting means it could never have been windows or any of the software. To my horror I checked out the web site here and find Toshibas idea of service is to return it to PC World and let them fix it. They collected my laptop on the 23 December but have lost it. I have spent hours on the phone on a 0844 rate number to no avail.
Im back on the Toshiba web site trying to find a email address to write and complain to. Guess what, I cant even seem to find an email address for the computer division.
Had I known Toshibas idea of service is to return it to the Dixons cowboys to fix, I would never ever have bought it. I doubt I will ever see the lap top again, I put a load of expensive software on it and also I had down loaded 11 hours of family video which i was in the middle of edditing. Hours of work and expense all seem to be up in smoke now.
Its early days, but I rather suspect I am going to regret this purchase.
If anyone has an email address for Toshiba in the UK, please let me know, I wish to repeat the above but in more detail to them.

Another update no joy. After establishing this was fault which i first reported to them on the 16th Dec, now many more times / hours wasted on the 0844 number, I have established its actually the 64GB SSD disk they want to replace, but they claim they dont have one and cant get hold of any to fix the fault.
This Toshiba laptop aside from being faulty from day 1 and the worry caused (Claiming the PC was lost, then later claiming the disk with my data is defective) is a real big problem now. I've now been without a laptop for over 1 month now and its starting to interfere with my work I am unable to do on it.
I am trying to get PC World repair department to return the PC so I can recover the disk drive with my data on it myself. I will then begin the process to take Toshiba / PC World to task in order to cover my expenses and losses and buy a new laptop obvoulsy of a different brand.
I was thinking DELL because I understand that is a manufacturer that actually deals with its customers and indeed if service or repair is needed undertakes such work themselves. (my reasoning that you are then dealing with the organ grinder rather than the monkey). What do other people think?
