Qosmio X775-3DV78 upgrades (HDD and RAM)

I am looking to upgrade my laptop, is it possible to add more RAM to this? I see that the max is 8 gigs, anyway to upgrade it to use 2 - 8 gig sticks? Also, I am looking to replace the HDD with a faster SSD, any guides out there on how to do this? Thanks for the help!

Solved: Since this board is so lively and bustling with activity for anyone else with the same quesion, I've upgrade to 16GB ram and a SSD HD. Go to crucial.com and check your sytem for available compatible upgrades.

  • HDD and RAM Upgrade Questions...

I am thinking about upgrading my HDD and memory. My computer is a Qosmio X870-BT3G23. HDD is about 1TB and also have 12GB RAM. I am not sure how to upgrade my RAM as I heard the other 2 memory slots are not user accessable. How would I go about upgrading HDD and transfer all my stuff over? I think my computer has slots for 2 HDDs, but not sure... Thoughts on both HDD and RAM upgrade appreciated
    Qosmio X870-BT3G23

Skeet, here are the SPECIFICATIONS for your machine if you have not seen them.  And on pages 44-53 of your User's Guide is a very thorough description of the adding memory process. As far as transferring files are concerned, at the Start screen, type Easy Transfer, hit Enter and follow instructions.
The specifications indicate you can have 16GB memory in the two accessible memory slots without concerning yourself about the 2 hidden slots. I personally can't imagine why anyone could need more than 16GB memory and 1TB HDD but, of course, that's your call.

  • MacBook 7,1 HDD and RAM upgrade advice and brand recommendations

    Question
I'm upgrading a MacBook 7,1 from it's original HDD and RAM and I'm wanting to get ideally 8 GB RAM (2x4GB RAM) and a 1TB@7200RPM HDD. What brands do people recommend?
    Reasoning
I now need to do a lot more video editing on this MacBook (FCPX, Motion 5, Compressor 4) and don't have the money now to get a new MacBook Pro, especially considering my current MacBook has only been in use for 1.5 years.
Also, If anyone has a better suggestion than upgrading my HDD and RAM, or doesn't think these upgrades will function well with my MacBook, please tell me.
    MacBook 7,1 original specs
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
    2GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Memory @ 5400 RPM
    250 GB HDD

Faster RAM will have a great chance to lead to problems. If it works it will not be noticeably faster; The bus speed is still 1066. Ram being cheap I would either put in more ram and not faster ram, buy from high reputation suppliers like Crucial, OWC.
The 7200 will not lead to problems, be sure that it is compatible, the fastest way to replace if you are using (snow) leopard OS: make a clone of the existing drive to the new one, boot from it when still outside, to test;  replace the internal disk with the new one, et voila...

  • Portege R500 - Upgrade procesor and RAM

Can I upgrade proceror and RAM in my R500?
Is possible?? If yes, how procesor can i used?
    Robert

    hi RoboS,
first of all the modell number is needed to check which hardware is in the machine.
to upgrade ram: easy - there should be a door marked with a ram-symbol on the bottom of the machine. open up and insert more memory
make sure that the system is powerless: remove ac-adapter and battery!
make also sure that the new ram modules meets the specifications.
upgrade the cpu: much more difficult and toshiba dont support this upgrade...
search for your modeltype with a bigger cpu and check if it has a socket (should be), this cpu should go together with your machine...
but remember: double the ram isnt that expensive than upgrade cpu and you have more fun with a bigger amount auf ram than a bit faster cpu....

  • Upgrade HDD and Memory

    Hello
I recently bought an mac air 2012 and want to upgrade the internal memory HDD and simms ( from 4 to 8 gigs) is it possible and also worth it.

If you already bought it, then the RAM can't be upgraded. It can only be configured at time of purchase. The Memory is integral with the motherboard, and there are no expansion slots.
Aftermarket SSD's are available, but it is something you may want to wait upon until after the warranty expires.
Your alternatives? Sell your underconfigured device, and buy one that is configured the way you want it.

  • Toshiba Qosmio x775 Randomly Turns off and on itself.. PLEASE HELP!

Whenever I turn on my Laptop Toshiba Qosmio x775..it randomly turns off then turns on itself..sometimes for just 20-30mins or sometimes less than or sometimes in can run the for many hours..the problem is not with the Adapter because i try to put the battery and unplug the adapter and still it happens randomly..dunno whats the problem with this..
Mostly i researched..they said it's overheating..they said to check if the fan is full of dust something like that..but none of it works..I downloaded a program CoreTemp to check the Temperature for overheating issues..and it's only on 45-50 degrees..and that program has overheating protection to shutdown if it reaches 90 degrees..but in my case in does not reach that degree and still shuts down..hayy..need help badly..

SO FAR SO GOOD FIX GUIDE-
If you own a Toshiba Qosmio laptop and you are having problems with it powering down for no reason, try this.
    1) Unplug all the wires and remove battery
    2) Hold down power button for 30 seconds
    3) Plug everything back in and start it up
    4) Hold F2 to enter boot menu
    5) Go to the Advance Tab
    6) Set Execute Disable Bit to Not Available
    7) F10 to save and exit
     SO FAR SO GOOD!

  • HDD and RAm in Compaq Presario V4000

I have inherited a Compaq Presario V4000.  I have to replace the HDD and would like to know the largest I can install.  Also, I want to increase the memory from 512 and would like to know if I have to install in equal pairs and the largest amount of memory I can install.
    Thanks

The hard drive will certainly work. The memory, however, is not compatible with the 2009 MBP.

  • Installing 2nd HDD and RAM: ??'s on installing and performance

    Hi folks,
I bought a 2nd HDD (Maxtor's Maxline 500 GB Sata2) and 2GB (2x1GB) for my G5. A friend has offered to help install the items during his lunch hour seeing that my hands are deformed by arthritis. Can both be installed under an hour? I'd hate to have him come to my place to find out this requires a longer time.
For the HDD: The G5 came with a stock Maxtor 160 GB (6Y160M0) in Bay A. Should i keep this as the boot drive or would I see a nice difference if I had the new Maxtor 500 as the boot drive? Should I swap bays or doesn't matter?
For the RAM: The G5 came with 2x512GB sticks and it has 8 DIMM slots:
    D-C-B-512 || 512-B-C-D
Should i simply pop the new RAM sticks in the B-B slots or would there be a performace increase if i pop the new in the A-A slots and move the 512 to the B-B slots?
Thanx in advance for any tips and recommendations,
    Frank

Easily installed in under an hour. Piece of cake. I agree with Jeff that I like to keep the bigger drive in the A bay, but it's more a matter of perosnal preference than performance. If the new drive is inherently faster than the stock drive (which I imagine it is), you'll see a slight performance increase if you make the 500GB your startup drive.
As for the RAM, I don't think it makes any difference, but I personally put the biggest sticks in "A" and work high to low as I got out to "D."
Hope we helped. Be sure to award points if we did.

  • UPGRADING PROCESSOR AND RAM

Hello, pls i'm asking to know the possibility of upgrading my processor from AMD A6-3430MX APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics to an A10 processor, which will boost the strength of my gaming...is it possible to buy only the A10 processor and replace it on my A6 because the current processor does not support most of my gaming needs while i have enough video graphics memory (1.5gb Radeon). However, i also want to know the amount of maximum RAM the computer can accomodate because currently i have 6gb RAM and i'm thinking of upgrading it to 8gb. Will these changes affect the computer negatively? or what? because i think it the best economical option for me rather than waiting to buy a bigger laptop with a higher processor...Games that require such high specs include upcoming Watchdogs, Need for Speed Rivals, Call of Duty ghost, Upcoming Hitman 6, and so many others...I'm waiting for a feedback

  • Upgrade CPU and RAM on Lenovo G480

Hello, I wanted to ask something: can I upgrade my CPU on my lenovo G480? And in case of a positive answer, which CPU's are compatible with it? Also, I bought an 8gb RAM, and installed it on my notebook, and it says that I have 12 GB of ram, but I read somewhere else that I can only have 8 GB of ram on my notebook... this means that what the system says is a lie and thus I still can only use 4gb of ram of the 12 that it shows? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Snipercat94,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are looking for CPU & memory up-gradation for your Lenovo G480.
Yes, you can up-grade the processor and the list is available in Hardware Maintenance Manual you can check it on page 101.
It is good to know that G480 is detecting 12 GB of RAM, and as per the OS it is showing 4 GB RAM that means you system is having 32bit Operating System, suggest you to install 64bit Operating System.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar

When Apple Blu-Ray will support Mac OS X and and why there are no available? Otherwise I think apple cool even the concept, design and Operating System. Because of that i have to use Windows, BootCamp Parallels. Why thaht? Give us a Blu-Ray Player and supports in Mac Os without those other three thinks. Microsoft an Windows ***** ;-)

Apple uses a variety of sources for RAM and HD's, even though two machines can have identical specifications they can use different vendors for common products such as RAM and HD's.

  • Qosmio X775-3DV78 no optical drive in setup

Yesterday I put a DVD in my drive and it didn't run.  I noticed the power was off so I assumed it was the annoying Toshiba utility turning it off and FN-Tab didn't work, so I rebooted.  After rebooting it still didn't come back.  I noticed that it was missing from Device Manager, so I did a scan for hardware and nothing.  After several attempts to get it back, including the utility to fix the registry, I rebooted and went into setup by hitting F2 on boot.  When I got there the general tab said the optical drive wasn't there.  I had the 2 internal hard drives, but no optical drive shows up in the hardware setup.  I check the BIOS version and I am current with 2.10.  I don't know when this started since its been a while since I tried to use the drive, but if its not showing up in the setup screen, it doesn't appear to be Windows or application related.
The drive appears to be OK as far as getting power, etc.  I can eject it, put a DVD in and hear it spin and the light flashes while it loads it.
Any suggestion on how to get the hardware to recognize the drive.

Turn off your laptop, unplug all wires, remove the battery, and hold the power button for thirty seconds. Afterwards, reattach the battery and connections.

  • Qosmio x775 3dv78

hey guys, I just got a 3dvy8 from my father, and I really like it, but when playing demanding games like ARMA II or GTA IV my framerate would drop from  around 40-50 to around 11, and then go back up. systemrequirementslab says that I should be able to flawlessly play on high settings without problems, and other I've seen other videos of  people playing ARMA II on the highest settings with the GTX 560m. So how do I make my laptop perform like an actual gaming laptop?
since I got it about a week ago I've reinstalled windows and all the drivers to factory fresh state, if that helps

The solution for my X7753DV80 was a BIOS update provided by Toshiba that adjusted the automatic GPU overheating parameters that were kicking in way too easily. Plus I set my GPU power settings to maximum performance. I actually got a courtesy call from Toshiba to inform me about this a couple years ago, which was unexpected. But game performance drastically improved.
    Good luck!!
