QSFP+ ports, do they support regular SFPs ?

Hi all,
I have a question regarding QSFP+ ports on Nexus 5672UP and 3000 series. Can you plug in a normal 10GE LR SFP in the QSFP+ ports ?
(so the port converts to a regular 10GE port, not 40GE) ?
I am looking in particular to connect a QSFP+ switch with 10GE long-range fiber (other ports are all RJ45, ie C3172TQ) ?
I know there is a 4x 10GE breakout cable, but this is SR, i need LR...
regards,
GN

Hi GN,
there is actually a module that can be used within the QSFP ports to convert QSFP+ to SFP+ or GLC.
Have a look.

  • Private VLAN Promiscuous Trunk Port - Switches which support this function

Can anyone confirm if the "Private VLAN Promiscuous Trunk Port" feature is supported in any lower end switches such as Nexus 5548/5672 or 4500X? According to the feature navigator support seems to be restricted to the Catalyst 4500 range (excluding the 4500X) as shown below. If the feature is going to be supported in the Cat 3850 this would be good to know, thanks

    Restrictions for VLANs
The following are restrictions for VLANs:
The switch supports per-VLAN spanning-tree plus (PVST+) or rapid PVST+ with a maximum of 128 spanning-tree instances. One spanning-tree instance is allowed per VLAN.
The switch supports IEEE 802.1Q trunking methods for sending VLAN traffic over Ethernet ports.
Configuring an interface VLAN router's MAC address is not supported. The interface VLAN already has an MAC address assigned by default.
Private VLANs are not supported on the switch.
You cannot have a switch stack containing a mix of Catalyst 3850 and Catalyst 3650 switches.

Run MDP to HDMI for picture. Use a cable like this to run sound from your audio out on your Mac to your TV's audio in.  That's about all  you can do.

  • I have mid 2009 Mac Book Pro running 10.9.1. The hdmi mini port no longer supports sound on the Sony TV. This is apparently a change. It no longer shows as an option in system preferences/sound.Any ideas?

The 2009's didn't support sound on HDMI. That came in 2010. Are you sure it ever worked?

  • Can I use the optical digital audio cable to connect INSTEAD of the hdmi?  My tv only has 2 hdmi ports, and they're both taken

Can I use the optical digital audio cable to connect INSTEAD of the hdmi?  My tv only has 2 hdmi ports, and they're both taken

I'm afraid that's very misleading and inaccurate.
Firstly an adapter won't work, it would need to be a converter and then if it's a compliant converter it won't let you watch HDCP protected content such as that from netflix or from the iTunes Store.
Secondly, whilst I'm not going to debate whether component or HDMI is better, component is certainly not better if it's been converted from an HDMI signal. You can't make anything better by simply converting it to another type of signal.

  • Do they support V

Do they support VBR (Variable Bit Rates) such as
"Rather than ripping music in 28 or 92 KB/s, which some people feel does not offer true CD quality, or ripping at 320 KB/s, which is huge, ripping in VBR, or Variable Bitrate, offers the best combination of quality and size. Of the different ways to rip in VBR, --aps is the best. On average, a CD in --aps is a little bigger than a CD in 28 KB/s, but has quality comparable to a much higher bitrate."
Where the bit rate is constantly changing during the song? like split second it'll be 28 and the next it'll be 320 then 92 or 256? You know what I'm sayin?

  • Do J2ME support Regular Expressions?

If yes, how can i do that
i want to get a html page by the j2me
and use Regular Expressions to get all link from it (eg. http://yahoo.com/123.php )

you can write your own code to do it parsing the text using a blank space to separate words, then analize them. I guess sun wont support regular expressions sooner but you can code it if needed.

Do you think it's possible to access these ports by another way and configure them to allow some hosts to connect on it or is their purpose exclusively UPLINK?

Do you mean the Fabric interfaces? If yes, you cannot use those for any host connectivities.

  • I have some B/W video cameras(analog) are they supported by Labview

i have some B/W video cameras that I wanted to use with LabView but they are not in the list of supported cameras under LabView, but they are still very new and they work great and they are small and light weight which are two important things that I need. Can I still use these? Or should I look into buying some new ones? The website for these cameras is www.x10.com, model number SC21A, thanks.

    Hi magnusrules,
The National Instruments Framegrabbers can adquire video formats like RS-170 or CCIR, it depends on the model of the framegrabber. Here is information about the analog video signals:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/0c19487aa97d229c8625685e00803830
I saw the datasheet, but I did not find the type of signal. It says RCA, so maybe this can be of some help:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/A247A92A91FDEFAE86256BA50051F28B?OpenDocument
    http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/es/nid/11356
Since the camera has a RCA connector, and it's BW, it could be RS-170, but we need to confirm it with the manufacturer.
