QT 7.2 Updte for 10.4.1 = "Q?" symbol; no vid/aud

Problem: I am not sure what version of Quicktime was installed on my PB G4 (OS X 10.4.1) before I updated to the 7.2 version, but the update was a big mistake. I cannot view any still (Webpage images) or moving images (e.g. Youtube), nor any accompanying audio.
A "Q" inscribed with a question mark appears wherever an image is supposed to be. This happens regardless of the browser used, which is usually Firefox or Safari.
Attempts to solve
1: I installed Flip4Mac, RealTime, and whatever other free software is available to view images. I've always has a problem with .wmv files, but now I have a much bigger problem. No other applicationm kicks in when a website calling for a "quicktime" functionality is loaded.
Is it even possible to bypass Quicktime and use something else? Everything that would post an image has a "Q?" in its place. It is really getting on my last nerve, as you can tell
2: Per Apple's online support, I installed the OS X4.1.0/Quicktime combination package (something like that), but itdid not solve the problem. Thankfully, nothing else went awry, either.
3: Per Apple's online support, I used the Terminal application and typed in a unix-based command provided by Apple for correcting a faulty upload of Quicktime 7.2 (this command has some weird spaces in the line setting). I followed the directions exactly, but when it came time to enter my system PW, the computer would not accept data, so I had to abort.
I've seen instructions on how to reload an older version of Quicktime (6.xx), which I would readily do, but such solutions have referred to computers with OS X v 10.3.9, and have not led me to believe I can use the methodology for my OS X10.4.1 system.
Please someone help me.

Chrome doesn't support the new accent/diacritics/macron chooser. I'm not sure about other browsers such as Firefox. You can use the old Option+letter combination that Doug suggested. Hopefully updates will solve these little incompatibilities shortly.

Try restarting
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).

Search in file for exact phrase with special symbols [windows 8.1]

When I search, for example, for 'name.txt' in file content it seems that it finds all files with 'name' and 'txt' in any order.
Windows 7 seems to have options related to this, like 'use natural language' and 'find partial matches'. But I see nothing in windows 8.
Please let me know if it's possible to search for exact phrase with special symbols.

You need to either use the Search tools or learn the Advanced Query Syntax (AQS) that they imply. Actually you need to do both because the tools only help with the keyword prefix and not with the following syntax that is required to do the specific
search that you want to do.
So, for example, you knew that you wanted to find name.txt only in file (or directory?) names so you would use the Other Properties > Name tool to be sure that your query had that prefix Name:name.txt
In fact, that was a surprise for me just now because I thought the default syntax for Name with no other specification would be "contains" (which would be Name:~=name.txt) but apparently it defaults to Name:~<name.txt which means
"begins with" name.txt. In fact, from an efficiency point of view that is probably a logical default. But from a usability point of view it is terrible because it means that when users really want Name:name.txt to mean either
"contains" or "ends with" they won't have a clue what to do to make those differences.

How can I Change Asset names for swapped images in duplicated symbols?

I have what seems to be a bug in edge animate cc2014 in following circumstances:
1. Duplicate a symbol
2. Drag duplicate symbol onto stage.4
3. Rename symbol
4. Click to edit symbol
5. Select an image inside the symbol
6. In properties panel change path to swap the image to be used in this instance of the duplicated symbol ( I need to reuse this symbol many times and not being able to change asset names is a real problem!).
7. The names for the asset in both the timeline and the elements were auto generated at the time of duplication when try to change the names they revert back to the auto generated names.
How can I overcome this problem which is clearly a bug or a poorly thought through bit of programming by an otherwise highly competent adobe edge animate tesm

Again, incorrect. It's not about how I can address a specific symbol with code - no problems there - it's what the composition loads into the symbol. Try it with some complex component or sub- symbols.
Work-Around for using Duplicated and Revised symbols (symbol variants) in the SAME document. Solution.
Tedious, but easy. Low risk. Edge Animate 2014.1.1
When you duplicate a symbol comprised of symbols itself ("sub-symbols"), only the outermost symbol gets a unique name, not it's component inner symbols. Upon import of additional variants, a unique name is created in the Library/Symbols panel for the inner symbols, yet the references in the outer symbol can't update to use those unique inner-symbol names. Therefore, the composition loads the symbol with the matching name. This will be the first variant to be imported.
Make the Duplicate
Duplicate the symbol in the Library/Symbol Panel. Rename. Export.
Prepping the Symbol
Open a new document, import and place the new symbol.
Select the asset to be switched/replaced. Make the switch in the property panel. Properties/Images/Swap button. (I revised my base or source symbol to have different colored background images. This is how I created 4 color variants.)
Save the new document, of course. "Example1.an"
Export the revised symbol from the Library/Symbol Panel for safe keeping.
Return to Example1.an
Elements Panel: Work through the nested symbols, adding a preceding identifier to all symbols in the heirarchy.
*KEEP IT SIMPLE so you can easily and quickly move through the .js files in the following steps.*
Save Example1.an.
Library/Symbols Panel: Go down the list, renaming all the symbols with the same preceding identifier as was used in the Elements Panel. *I advise to stay parallel with the Elements panel. Change as little as possible.*

I had similar requirement wherein I was supposed to display different data using 2 different internal tables on a subscreen area.

Wrong Glyph for Unicode 2990 in Apple Symbols font

Opening the unicode character table, one can browse to character U+2990 and find its name to be "right square bracket with tick in top corner". The glyph displayed, however, has a tick in the bottom corner instead, and thus looks exactly like U+298E. At least that's the case on my OS X 10.5.8, where Apple Symbol seems to be the only font containing that symbol at all.
I don't personally need that single glyph to be fixed, as I'm not likely to ever actually use it. But I noticed the issue, and being used to open source software, I tend to write a bug report for almost every bug I notice, whether it affects me or not. However, I coulnd't find such a thing as a bug report form on any of the Apple web pages. And as I don't need the fix myself, going for the usual support options doesn't seem the right approach either. So this forum here is my best bet. I hope someone will notice this thread and inform those responsible so that the issue will eventually get resolved. If you have any suggestions where I might better place such a bug report, please let me know.
I guess where there is one wrong character, there might be others. I don't know if that's feasible, but I would welcome a check of all glyphs in that font, not only a fix to the single character I noticed accidentilly.

what is doing the %2 here, prome' ?If there are an even number of char symbol in String s, then s.length() - s.replace(""+symbol, "").length() will also be even. So that number mod 2 will equal zero (and return true).

When I load a Flash based game site for my kids, the reload symbol spins continuously. The site slows down all browsing because of this. Why is this happening? How can I fix it? It has only started recently, in FF3.6 and in 4.

The site in question is webkinz.com, and once you log on to the game. I have tried Adblocker, and swept for sypware. I have reinstalled Flash, downgraded Flash, back to current version now. Tried in FF 3.6 and 4.

You are right about high CPU usage. It was even when playing various computer games. I don't have problems anymore. But not because I disabled all addons. I did these things:
In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
Search for dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode in the list of preferences.
Double-click on the preference to toggle its value from false to true. (If the setting is already true it means that Flash Protected Mode is currently disabled.)
Close Firefox.
Restart Firefox.
And since then I don't have that particular problem with overloading. I just disabled some of flash protected mode. How is that related with "overloading"? Strage. Hardware acceleration I've enabled again as without it whole text field in news sites is sometimes black.

How to remove the '#'symbols for infoobject movement types in bex reporting

I have a problem in Bex reporting. The problem is when ever executing the report that time some of the characteristic values is shown in layout '#' Symbols. i want to remove the '#' valuse in report.
is it possible please give me step by step procedure for how to remove the '#' Symbols in reporing layout.
this is very urgent please help to me on this issue.

To achieve this issue, we need to replace the value of #, we need to change the description while retrieving the data from tables. So we need to write some ABAP code in SE38. Go to RSA1 transaction and go to Info objects tab. Then go to context menu for cProject Key Figures as shown below. Click on the Object Overview to get the overview of all the info objects. Here you can see the field names which are used to know the table names.
In SE11, type the table name in Database Table field. Now press F4, then you will get the next screen to select one of the P/Q/S/T tables.
Now click on the button rounded in the below screen to view the data in the table.
Now click the execute button or press F8 to view the records.
Now go to Tcode: SE38. Create a source code and give some program name for that source code. To write code, you need access key. Contact your BASIS for this.
Now write the below code for that particular table in which you want to change the value # to description Blank. In the below source code, we are updating particular table, setting the field as Blank where it is null or no value. Here the field will automatically get updated to # if there is no value or null.
update /BIC/PXXXXX set /BIC/ZXXXX = 'Blank' where /BIC/ZXXXXX is null or /BIC/ZXXXX = ''.
if sy-subrc eq 0.
write 'successful'.
commit work.
else.
write 'unsuccessful'.

OR
If this # is because of the missing master data than,
right click that IO -> maintain master
you will see first row as a blank.
whatever value you maintain in this row that will come in the report for all Not assigned # values of the master data in the report.
maintain it according to your requirement, save and activate the master data

Checking for an updated variable value in symbol timeline

I'm making a puzzle which involves moving crates in a specific order to get a character from one side to the other. Take a look at http://tinyurl.com/c4vwcj9 to get the gist of it.
Each crate is a symbol with it's own timeline. A crate may only move a pre-determined direction and distance once clicked. No more than 2 crates can be pulled out of the grid at any one time.
The timeline of each symbol has three states: "Original", "Moved" and "Returned".
If you have a play around with the puzzle as it stands so far, you will see most of the logic arguments work ok. However, the problem I have is when you pull a crate out of the grid and it needs to check if it can move back into place.
To see what I mean:
- Pull out the bottom left corner crate
- Move the crate to the immediate right, thereby blocking the previous crate
- Try to move the bottom left corner crate again (you should get an error message and it shouldn't move - this is fine)
- Move the other crate back to it's original position to unblock the previous crate
- Try to move the bottom left corner crate a final time (you still get the error message and it doesn't move - this is not fine!)
A quick debug has revealed the second mouse click doesn't fetch the updated variable AFTER the symbol timeline begins to play, but the same methodology works just fine for crates that check for impeded movement BEFORE a symbol timeline is played (try one of the inner crates). Why isn't it getting the updated value and what can I do to solve it?
Below is a sample of the code specific to the bottom left crate. I've highlighted the variable and arguments specific to the problem. Please excuse what is no doubt poor Javascript coding conventions - I only started learning this last week!

Removing black bars from youtube/altering aspect ratios for youtube

How do you get rid of the black lines on the vid on youtube using I Movie 08? I have tried using the crop options in I movie, and still cant get rid of the back lines above and below. The cameras aspect ratio is 4:3 and using crop options of “fit” or “done” does not fix it. For example, here’s an exercise vid I did.

What is the cure for this? I notice when the vid is in the even library it’s in 4:3 as the source vid from the cam but is converted to 16:9 when moved to the project library. Is there any way to prevent that or convert it back to 4:3? I had thought the crop options in I movie would do the trick, but it does not from what I can tell.

Is your project 4:3, you set this when you create your project. You can check this by looking at the project properties from the file menu.
