QT 7.6.7 won't launch or takes a VERY long time to launch

Sometimes Quicktime won't launch at all. Sometimes it launches after I open Internet Explorer 32-bit and open a QT movie link from the browser. Sometimes it launches after 30 minutes. It is very unpredictable. I am not sure what is wrong with my Windows Vista 64-bit system. I have tried to repair the installation as well as uninstall and reinstall and reregister my Pro license for QT.
Has anyone else come across this problem before?

could be the firewall i suppose. i'm running norton 360 3.0 with antivirus and firewall being set by this program. the windows firewall is off. I heard there was an issue of security with QuickTime prior to 7.6.7 update.
I double checked and I am not experiencing this type of problem on my Windows 7 64-bit machine which is a notebook.

    I launched constrained ASCP plan and it took very long time. I launch ASCP plan in friday and it still not finished yet till monday, Memory Based Shapshot & Snapshot Delete Worker are still running, Loader Worker With Direct Load Option is still in pending phase. MSC: Share Plan Partitions has been set to Yes.
    When I run query below :

    Hi Yolanda,
    a) So does it means that plan was working fine earlier but you are facing this issue recently.. ? If so then what you have changed at server side or have you applied any recent patches.. ?
    b) If you have not completed plan for single time,
    I will suggest that run data collection in complete refresh mode for one organization which is having relatively small data. Further, you can modify plan options in order to reduce planning calculation load like
    - disable pegging
    - remove any demand schedule / supply schedule / global forecast etc
    - enable only single organization which having relatively small demand and supply picture
    - disable forecast spread
    Once one plan run will be completed, then expand your collection scope to other organizations and also enabling above mentioned setting.
    There are lots of points need to consider for performance issue like server configuration, hardware configuration,  num of demands etc. So you can raise SR in parallel while working on above points.

    if you have many apps running and using data and localization at the same time yes maybe
    but batteries get worse and worse and worse over time until they die a software reset will not change that

  • Many Problems: System won't search, things taking very long time...

    My G5 is having lot's of problems and I'm dreading having to reinstall the OS.
    Problems:
    The system won't search for files, either in the finder or in applications
    The finder seems to get jammed up for long periods of time (I mean, like I can let it go for an hour and still be jammed.)
    Applications like Motion run very, very sluggishly. I know that Motion is a monster program when it comes to Ram, but it's gotten worse over time.
    Encoding in Motion seems to take a lot longer than it should. I've got a lot of experience encoding, so I know which files should take a long time and which shouldn't, there seems to be some problem.
    I have run Tech Tool Pro (latest version) and the monthly disc utility stuff (repair disc permissions)
    Anyone have any ideas that could help me? (I'll be sure and give helpful and solved points).

    1. As a general check, run the Procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.
    2. See my "Tuning Mac OS X Performance" FAQ for a variety of troubleshooting and optimizing tips regarding Mac OS X performance. In particular, see the "Troubleshooting performance problems" section therein
    3. re: Search. See my "Spotlight tips" FAQ. You may want to rebuild the Spotlight indices for your startup disk (I assume the search issue is in searching your startup disk). I presume by Finder being "jammed up" you're referring to Finder during search. See also "After installing Mac OS X 10.4, the computer may seem slow and the fans may run more."
    After you install Tiger, Spotlight begins indexing your hard drive. If there is a white dot pulsing in the center of the magnifying glass of the Spotlight icon, it is indexing. Clicking the Spotlight icon while indexing should tell you the status and provide an estimate of how long it will take before indexing completes. It's best not to do other work during the initial indexing.
    If you've been running Tiger for some time, but the Spotlight icon shows it is indexing, then something may be amiss with your current index or your drive. Indexing is very resource-intensive.
    More details on "jammed up" would help.
    4. See my "Problems from insufficient RAM and free hard disk space" FAQ. If your hard drive is getting full, then, despite having 4GB of RAM, the system could be thrashing. This is discussed in the FAQ.
    5. See my "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ for steps that might help you with this problem.

  • Premiere CC taking very long time to launch in OSX 10.9.2

    I've tried completely uninstalling the app and using the CC app cleaner, reinstalling and having the same problems.
    I have more than one user on the computer and was trying to use Premiere on users other than what it was originally installed on. Not sure if that caused any issues.
    To eliminate potential issues, I removed all users but one, removed all CC apps, used the App cleaner, repaired permissions in OSX, reinstalled Premiere CC and still having the same issues. Premiere is taking forever to launch, and not all the presets and codecs are available. Also the link between Premiere and AME doesn't appear to be working.
    How can I fix this? I have a project I have to cut and need this working.

    I can't figure out what's going on. Originally I thought this was a permissions issue in OSX, so to be sure I uninstalled all the CC applications, used the app cleaner, repaired permissions, reinstalled CC, reinstalled premiere and still having the same problems
    Premiere is taking several minutes to launch. I can look in the Activity Monitor and see that when Premiere or AME opens, it has a 'not responding' remark by the process name. This will go on for several minutes. When either app opens, not all the codecs and output presets are available.
    Any suggestions?

  • ITunes takes an incredibly long time to launch. Can you help me?

    iTunes (version 7.1.1.5) takes about 60 seconds to launch. The previous version took just a few seconds to launch. Does anyone know a solution for this?

    Just recently my ipad quit holding a charge. What used to last me all day has turned into only a couple of hours. Is there a setting or something I can change to regain the charge I once had. My I pad is only a couple of months old.

    Try turning off the following:
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Push>OFF
    Settings>Notifications>Mail>Gmail>Notification Center>OFF

    After several updates within a 3-6 month period, my G4 still wont automatically go to sleep up after setting the energy saver (sleep) to 15 minutes. When I had OSX 10.3.9 it'll sleep like a baby after 15 min. please help, thanks

    I had the same problem. Slept fine with 10.3.9 and somewhere along the Tiger chain of updates it refused to sleep or would wake from sleep almost immediately.
    After a ton of research and trying different things, here's what I've found. I should mention the Quicksilver has a dual processor upgrade, a usb 2 card, an M-Audio sound card (junk) and a fw 800 card. So, there's lot's to go wrong.
    Apple's sleep is a mild sleep. To get it to sleep you have to execute a command to have it "safe sleep". Your G4 will likely need to be configured to "safe sleep". Go here http://www.jackoverfull.altervista.org/applicazioni/suspendnow/index-en.html All the scripts are there to configure and a script to run. Read the instructions in the read-me file. They are well written, succinct and simple. I keep a shortcut to SuspendNow! on the task bar. When I leave the computer I double click it, press enter and voila, sleep.
    Don't be tempted to place the app in Utilities, it needs to be in Applications.
    Another approach is NMS Sleep Assist. http://slicedapple.ath.cx/nmsutility.html The instructions are poor. I tried to get this to work under the many approachs available in the program and finally ended up using "Dependent Mode" (not ESI), setting up appropriate sleep holds and setting Apple's sleep to "never". Dependent mode replaces Apple's sleep and it works for me.
    I run both SuspendNow! and NMS. I need NMS if I'm downloading and want to walk away. After the download's complete, plus my 5 minute time setting, the G4 sleeps.
    There's a ton of sleep apps and widgets out there. I can honestly say I tried them all and these are the only two that worked for me. Chasing hardware issues is a waste of time.

  • Applications won't launch when a file from Finder or Dock is opened

    With Snow Leopard i'm experiencing the following problem:
    After a while of operating, if an application isn't launched and i open a file of that app from the Finder or the Dock, the app's blue indicator blinks for a very long time and when it's finally open the app freezes. only option is to force quit the app.
    But i can in fact open the file, if i open the app first and then select the file with the open dialog.
    This happenes with every application: +Archive Utility.app, TextEdit.app, Preview.app+ and non-Apple apps.
    When i reboot, the problem is gone for about an hour.
    Any solutions?

    Rebuilding the launch services database sounds like a good thing to try - except on Snow, the directory LaunchServices.framework doesn't exist in the place that that link points to.
    Its now in /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchS ervices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister according to [Tuaw|http://www.tuaw.com/2009/06/11/terminal-tips-rebuild-your-launch-services -database-to-clean-up>
    I've just rebuilt - I'll post in a few hours if it worked.....

  • IPod taking a long time to update/restore, and won't turn on!

    I literally JUST bought my iPod, like 2 and a half hours ago. When I opened the package, I immediatley plugged it in to the computer. I set it up, putting in information. I tried putting my music onto my iPod, but only some of it went on. In the middle of syncing, a box popped up saying "cannot be synced". But that's not the main problem. I disconnected my iPod from my computer and then plugged it back in. I opened iTunes and it asked if I wanted to install the new update. I clicked yes and it took FOREVER to update. The bar would barely move; on my computer AND iPod! I disconnected it after waiting a long time. I disconnected the iPod from the computer. During these processes I had turned my iPod completely off. I tried turning it back on, but it wouldn't work. I tried charging it, but nothing would work and nothing would show up. I plugged it in again and then iTunes said that I need to restore and update my iPod, and I can't use iTunes until I do it. I said ok, and now it's in the middle of doing it and won't even move. I've been sitting here for a very long time now. I tried disconnecting, but nothing showed up on my iPod home page in iTunes. I'm very frustrated right now, my iPod will not work! And whenever I disconnect my iPod now the bar and Apple sign is still there. PLEASE HELP!

    This patch adds profile QP: Consider Manual Linegroup Adjustments.
    This profile option is to ignore group of lines modifiers while making pricing engine call for getting manual modifiers
    Value 'Yes'-- Line group modifiers will be considered for manual modifier pricing engine call.
    Value 'No'-- Line group modifiers will not be considered for manual modifier pricing engine call.
    Default value is NULL which is similar to value 'Yes'.
    The patch also adds a procedure Get_Manual_All_Lines_Status in the QP_UTIL_PUB package.
    This api will be used to determine whether all lines need to be sent to the engine while making a engine call for manual modifiers.
    Earlier the logic was built in Order Management code but now has been moved to
    QP_UTIL_PUB package with some changes to resolve the performance issue.

  • Photoshop CS6 won't launch and when it does it's really slow...help?

    So my copy of Photoshop CS6 sometimes won't launch and when it does manage to launch fully, it's really slow. I mean ridiculously slow. The only times when I can get it to run even remotely quick is if I shut down my computer, and then restart it and then start up Photoshop CS6 as the first program. Even then it slows down after a while. (And I only have a firefox browser open usually, never more than a couple of tabs at once, so it's not a bandwidth issue)
    Here are my comp specs:
    Samsung
    Processor:
    AMD A6-3420M APU with
    Radeon (Tm) HD graphics 1.50 ghz
    Installed Memory (RAM) - 4.00 (3.48 usable)
    64 Bit operating System running on Windows 7 home premium, service pack 1
    I also did just recently install the new update Adobe had for Photoshop, so that's up to date.
    It's getting really frustrating! I have another program I'm using in the meantime (Paint tool Sai), but I'd really like to use Photoshop CS6.....
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Make sure you updated the drivers from AMD's website, not Microsoft.
    Make sure you are running the 64 bit version of Photoshop, not 32 bit.
    Disable all third party plugins, and try disabling system utilities (we've seen font managers, antivirus, disk backup software, etc. cause slowdowns due to bugs in those utilities).

  • Mail won't launch nor its settings save/ allow changes after 2.0

    Anyone else have this ? Mail just won't launch ; opens to the main scroll screen, which stays blank, with the top and bottom bars showing – the bottom bar showing the refresh and write buttons – and then quits. Also, I cannot delete my MobileMe or GMail account, nor edit them.
    Though with the MM account, if I try to delete it, it disables all of the push functions except mail. Things that I've been trying to do, like change whether the Trash folder autodeletes mail or not and the name of the account, don't save at all. The Trash delete frequency change stays in place as long as I'm in the Mail settings ; the name change doesn't hold at all.
    In the second setting 'pane' in Settings – "Nouvelles Données" in French, so I guess "New Data" ? – down in Advanced, there are two MobileMe Push accounts listed. The first one saying it syncs calendars and contacts, and the second one mail... Yet I only have one MM account set up, or so says the uneditable Mail settings.
    Nor can I (re)add my MM and GMail accounts. Trying to add a Yahoo account I never put on the also failed.
    I've restarted my touch too.
    Sounds like one of those things that when on a Mac, deleting a plist or fixing permissions would be suggested... I can't find a similar Settings-related problem anywhere on the internet either.

    im having a mail problem too. i have a multiple yahoo mail accounts and every single one of them wont work. i keep getting this "the user name or password for "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is incorrect." so i deleted my accounts and re-entered them. and the same message came up. i've re-typed the information many times throughout the day and it didnt work. i tried a different account and the same happened. then i tried my gmail account and that didnt work. yours sounds worse than mine, though. im not having mulitple languages. i hope you can figure it out = ]

  • CS3 Installer Won't Launch

    Intel Quad Core Tower, 8GB Ram
    Currently installed: CS3.3 Master Collection
    I am trying to reinstall Acrobat 8 from my Master Collection 3 disc, and Setup won't launch. I've also tried Utilities:Add or Remove Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection, and it won't launch either.
    I've tried the standard solutions: fix file permissions, install from admin account and new user account, uninstalled CS4 Beta applications. Nothing has helped.
    Adobe technical support has been no help. I've been on the phone with them for two hours this morning.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    BRIAN, HERE'S WHAT WORKED FOR ME, BUT I WAS USING WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL, NOT A MAC SYSTEM. STILL MAYBE IT MAY BE OF HELP.
    I had problems uninstalling and reinstalling my Adobe Master Collection CS3. The problem being that the installer would run and then disappear without initiating the uninstall/installation process.
    Here are the simple combination of steps which worked for me.
    1/ removing Adobe Master Collection CS3 by running add/remove programs
    2/ running the Adobe CS3 clean script. I'm almost 100% certain I chose option 1 when running the script http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
    3/ out of desperation and realising I had nothing to loose because I had an image of the fairly newly configured hard drive I was using, I deleted the Adobe "Installers" Folder located inside the Adobe folder at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
    Steps 1 and 2 above did not solve my problem.
    Step 3 did solve my problem. However, I do not know if step 1 and/or 2 were required for step 3 to work.
