QT 7 Pro sales system broken. Apple working on getting it fixed (update).

They know about the problem and are working to get it fixed. Online chatted with Brandon (Apple expert).
Me: Hi Brandon. Dave Posh here. I purchased QT 7 Pro earlier today. I received an email that was missing the registration code. I checked the Forums and it is happening to many others today (they are getting P-O-ed). Can some fix the sales system that is taking money and sending out emails without the registration codes?
Brandon: We have noted this issue and are in the process of fixing it. If you'd like, you can contact our sales support department at 800-676-2775 and they can assist you further with getting your Quicktime Pro serial number.
I called the number, got through to Matt and found that they can't get it to me yet. They refunded my order and I will wait until tomorrow to reorder, after the system is repaired.
I understand they have problems and they are working to get it fixed as soon as possible.
Dave Posh

Will reorder tomorrow.

First you would need to meet these requirements:
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
Xserve (Early 2009)
Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space

• MacBook Pro boots with green apple logo, then gets a gray screen freeze

My 2010 MacBook Pro won't boot.  It starts up with the green apple logo, and then goes to a blank white screen. Any ideas/suggestions? Just updated to 10.8.4 but not sure that's the cause.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is damaged and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a backup.
Step 8
A dead logic-board battery in a Mac Pro can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

• Macbook pro boots past the apple logo then gets stuck on white screen

I have a macbook pro that won't boot all the way. When I turn it on it will go to the apple logo, and proceed past it then get stuck on a white screen. If you leave it on this white screen after a little while a grey ribbon will come across the top with little white squares and rectangles. The picture comes up like this (not sure if this will work) http://s863.photobucket.com/albums/ab198/helmerfan/?action=view&current=9F4716F1 -3DE1-4799-A87A-9E8E5E918EF2-3530-00000378A8CDCED1.jpg#!oZZ5QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2 F%2Fs863.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fab198%2Fhelmerfan%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26curre nt%3D60350C7C-C4F6-4040-A081-388B54FF77ED-2239-00000184408A3AD1.jpg
I took the hard drive out and tried to start it up with just the os x disk, and still got the same thing. I took the disk out and the hard drive out and then got the folder with the question mark. Someone said that it sounded like a graphics card issue, and if you all agree do you think that that would be something that a reflow would fix? Thanks for the input guys.

• Imessage not working. What is going on APPLE? pls get this fixed already!

this has been happening too often recently.  how long ot wait for the APPLE server to be fixed?  Other discussions threads had this reported early this morning.  I am on the east coast.

You know no one here is an employee or representative of Apple. We are all users like yourself. We cannot speculate what the outage problem is,how difficult it may be to correct or know when it may be back up and operating normally.

• Iphon5s not working and is under warranty and need to book an appointment at Leeds trinity apple shiop to get it fixed.

• What if I take my iPad to the apple store to get it fixed will I lose all my stuff on there

Will I lose all my stuff on my iPad if I'm getting it fixed

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Apple gives you a refurbished iPad instead of repairing your iPad, so you will lose everything. In order to prevent the lose of data and settings, make a backup of your iPad onto iCloud or iTunes > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
Also, make sure you transfer your purchases to your PC or Mac with iTunes before taking it in > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848

• Reinstallation, no Apple Works

I did a clean reinstall of my operating system, now Apple Works is missing. Shouldn't it be there?

molly-o,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Appleworks should be on the Software Restore Disks that came with your computer.
This Topic: Lost Appleworks 6 application in the in the Appleworks Forum should help you find the procedure.
I was unable to provide a link for the thread, but enter "Lost Appleworks 6 application" into the search field and you will find the thread.
;~)
This link will work for that thread.

• Database software other than Apple works

When I got my first Apple (a G5 which died after I installed Leopard) I worked through apple works to get aquainted with my Mac, but then used iWork + Adressbook as my database. By now I have over 2000 "people or organisations that hire musicians" (I'm a musician) in Adressbook, but for a new project need something else.
This is what I want to do: I need to expand the "people or..." database, but want to start a seperate database about audiences with many ways to differentiate, organise, search and find by different criteria (like education, income, etc.).
I am looking for something more sofisticated than Adressbook, but easier to use that apple works.

In trying to move from AppleWorks, I've moved all of my databases to Numbers. For me, it works. I don't have the same needs in a database as I used to have.
Database programs are just not very common it seems. FileMaker Pro looks similar to AppleWorks, mostly because they were both originally Claris programs. The similarity really ends at the look. FileMaker is too expensive & too complex for your average AppleWorks database user.
If I were to need a "real" database in the future, I'd get iList Data. It was recommended by someone in this forum awhile back.
Bento is marketed by FileMaker as an answer for the common user. I don't think so (as do a number of other "old-time AppleWorks users" here). Still, all of these programs have free trials & you can decide for yourself what works best for you.

• Need a printer driver for a PIXMA MG2900 that will work on my MacBook Pro Operating System OSX 10.4.11

I have just purchased a Canon Pixma MG2900 printer and need to find a driver for this printer that will work with my MacBook Pro Operating System OSX Version 10.4.11.
I was directed to iTunes PIXMA/MAXI, but it didn't seem to download for me.  It did say that it was for IPads or IPhones, not sure that it's intended for use on a computer.

Probably best to go to a library and submit your resume there.
You can make many web browsers claim to be ie.  Here is how.
TenFourFox -- It's a port of the latest FireFox to run on older hardware and software.
"World's most advanced web browser. Finely tuned for the Power PC."
--  works for me on 10.4.  Supports 10.5
http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
alternative download site:
http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/37761/tenfourfox
OmniWeb uses the lastest Safari framework.  The open source WebKit. Other browsers like Safari and iCab use the OS version of WebKit.  The OmniWeb downloaded dmg includes it's own copy of the latest WebKit.

Safari 4.1.3 for Tiger

iCab - The Taxi for the Internet
http://www.icab.de/
What is my user agent?
http://whatsmyuseragent.com/
You want to change your user agent to be ie.
in tenfourfox
tools > add-ons
seearch for change user agent
install
user agent switcher
tools > User agent switcher
change to ie.

• Advice to convert old iMac's Apple Works to newer MacBook Pro's Word?

Using a jump drive, I took my Apple Works documents from System 9 but they will NOT open in MS Word-for-Mac on my MacBook Pro's system 10.4.11. ANY TIPS FOR CONVERTING ? I don't want to lose these files, but I do want to lose the old iMac - it's grape!

strandra, welcome to Apple Discussions.
Did you add the AppleWorks file extension ".cwk" to the file names i.e., document.cwk)?
A possible alternative - Using AppleWorks, can you save the files in some other format, such as .doc or .rtf?

• I have a 2006 15" Macbook Pro with a broken Superdrive and my external USB one just quit working

Why can my LG Portable Super Multi Drive (GP08NU6B) burn discs, but not read them? Right after I burn a DVD successfully, I stick it back in the drive and it says "The disk you have inserted is not readable by this computer"  I have a 2006 15" Macbook Pro with a broken Superdrive, and this external disk drive is the only optical drive that worked via USB.  This external drive was bought in 2010 and worked fine up until a month ago. This is supposed to be a Plug and Play device, and LG assures me the drivers are already included in Mac OSX,  yet it seems somehow my Macbook lost the drivers and it won't let me watch DVDs now or recognize any discs at all!
How can I find and somehow reinstall the firmware for this optical drive?

Sounds more like a hardware issue to me.
