QT 7 Pro - Why so many preferences?

I still use QT 7 Pro. When I look in my Library preferences in my HOME folder there are over 290 preference files (plist) there!
Why so many? Should I delete them?

Thank you, QYKirk! But I've done that before, and they keep coming back. And I don't know why? Almost like every QT movie I open, it decides to keep a pref for it?
I do still keep the QT7 Pro "application" in the Utilities folder, where Snow Leopard puts it. I "zipped" my QT X app (in the applications folder) so it wouldn't default, 'cause I don't like it much.
I wonder why MY QT7 keeps so many prefs . . . and YOURS doesn't!
Hmmm . . . I have the latest of everything. I edit heavily with FCPro . . . and am always looking at SC movies I export . . . but that wouldn't make any sense why my mac's keeping so many prefs?
Any other ideas? No big deal here . . . just a little clutter is all!

Make a note of the updates then go to the Apple Download website and download one or two of them and then try to install them.

Mid 2010 mac book pro crashing too many times!!!

HELP! I'm basically fed up with my mac book pro crashing so many times in a day. I'm not doing anything tedious, just basic web surfing and music and some microsoft word/excel. I've read that someone recommended to run EtreCheck and paste the result here so anyone that knows how to read them can help me figure out what's happening!
Problem description:
My Mac book pro have been crashing lately. I’ve max out my RAM to 8gb. And the frequency seems to increased to few times in a day. I’ve uninstalled a software that I suspect to be causing the problem but it didn’t help.

It's the Resume feature of Lion:

In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get and is there possibility to download more as it says 40 on the programs info on the Mac Store, as i intend to compose on it but with only 40 instruments it's not really worth it.
So i was just wondering whether it let you download more for free.

They do not show any extensions, but I'm sure at seast some of them are PDFs. As I cannot open them, I am unable to try to experiment with any solutions - I am not tech savvy, but can sometimes fix things by trial and error. I have no issues with sharing documents as I have no other devices. I just want to be able to open my saved documents! Also, the documents I can open have to be persistently coaxed to open to a point that it is extremely aggravating. I am not so happy with this recent "upgrade." Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You use Finder to find stuff. It is what you use to look at where your files are kept and to rename, move or trash them. If you double click on a file in Finder it finds the right software to open it for you.
To open particular files you use the right software for each type. Usually, but not always, the software that made the file.
Pages opens files ending in .pages. Also .txt, .rtf, and doc.
Pages 5 is the latest (but certainly not the greatest) version of Pages. It has trouble opening all sorts of files including the older Pages '09 files but it will still do it.
Unfortunately Apple has chosen for Pages 5 to also save its files as exactly the same file extension .pages despite it being a different format that can not be opened by the older Pages '09.
As we all know Apple is wise and great beyond belief and would not do something that on the face of it looks extraordinarily stupid and shortsighted. Therefore we know that it must be our fault and we are not holding the software right. Because we are bad users, we must be punished, by either having to use Pages 5 or jump through hoops to avoid using Pages 5.
If you have installed Pages 5 any .pages file (old or new) will be opened by Pages 5. If you then save the file, Pages 5 will change the file format. So don't open your files with Pages 5 and don't save them if you do.
To stop Pages 5 opening and resaving your old files, you need to drag it to the trash and empty it.
When it is no longer around to annoy you, you can go back to using Pages 09.

There seems to be a few bugs with iCloud Mail at times, so send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Which signature style are you talking about?
You can go ahead and try uninstalling and reinstalling it and see if that works for you .

Presuming they're on your computer, right click on them and then follow the prompts to locate hte file on your computer.

Why have many signins for all the product needed for a computer? I only use what I purchase & the parts used to operate my machine. It's a vehical of communication only to me. I really don't need to sign for every item for the vehical to operate propertly. You & I know it's like a car with many parts. Please make it simple rather than making me a machinist on a computer.

Strange. The photos that don't display in Aperture will still display in iPhoto but when I view the info the file doesn't show resolution information only for those problematic photos
Files sizes are almost all jpeg. Once I reference the file in iPhoto, the master displayed resolution for the photo within finder. The photo's original file also opened in preview and photoshop.

If they have the cloud icon then they are in the cloud, not on your iPod. You can turn off the showing of iCloud music via Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music (under 'show all' heading) 'off'.
But if you have never bought/downloaded those songs then they shouldn't show in the cloud for streaming/redownloading - the U2 album was an exception, Apple automatically added that to everyone's account whether they wanted it or not. It's your account that shows as being logged in in Settings > iTunes & App Store ?
