QT can't export 10 bit images?

I have 10 bit uncompressed quicktime movies, from which I need to export 10 bit image sequences. When I export using either QT 7.0.2 or FCP5, I get 8 bit images. What's going on?

Hmmmm.....Well, I'm certainly seeing the problem. But it must be more complex, and also perhaps involve CPU architectures: I imported HD DVCPRO 720p @23.98fps media from a P2 Store on a MacBook Pro using 5.1.1. Those imported Quicktime media files can not be viewed on a G4 w/ 5.0.4 but can be viewed on a G5 w/ 5.1.2. On the G4 the movie files opened at the right rez but with a blank white image (typical when the codec is missing/bad), although the audio played fine. Neither the G4 nor the G5 have an added video card.
This is confusing because it would be simple if it was just Intel vs PowerPC, but it's not, as the G5 works but the G4 doesn't. I never had a chance to see if it will work on the G5 using 5.0.4.
Obviously there's more to this than we'd thought.

• How can I export an edited image to a file?

I can't seem to find a way in iPhoto 09 do this. Can I export an edited image to a file, keeping the edits intact, or do I have to use a 3rd party editing app when I edit from inside iPhoto 09?
I would prefer to use iPhoto's editing tools so should I import previously cropped images into iPhoto? If yes, what file should I use? I was wondering if anyone does this on a regular basis and if there issues doing this.
I like the editing tools in iPhoto very much. In other apps I have always cropped, resized, corrected levels and a bit of color. I am not a power user by any means and I am close to doing this all in iPhoto if I could only export the edited image to a file.
The reason I want to do this is because the printing portion of my work flow is to upload files to my merchant who prints them and are ready for nearby pickup within an hour. This is all done at a very reasonable price and the color accuracy is very close.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Jim

You can edit from iPhoto by dragging to the desktop or exporting using the File -> Export command, setting the Kind to anything except original.
But you probably don’t need to:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 Only*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and 10.5* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

• Can't export 16 bit tiff in A3.1.3  Lion

If I try to export a 16 bit tiff, the extension automatically changes to jpg.  I can only export an 8 bit tiff.  Thanks for any tips.

Aloha Tom and Ashley. Perhaps I should start another thread. This is my first time looking for help in this way. Thanks in advance Ashley are you going from Keynote to iMovie to FCE? Sure would be nice if we didn't need so many steps! The only reason I am in FCE is because I have been unsuccessful in getting a QT export from Keynote that marries sound file with movie and is stable.
Tom here is how I exported. Playback uses: manual advance, Compression H.264, Frame rate 29.97, keyframe - all, data rate automatic, compression quality - best. Then I imported to FCE, married music and movie (so easy), rendered and exported with same settings. Big black area around movie, little tiny movie in middle. Then I discovered on the Sequence canvas there is a drop down with the choices <image> <image with wire frame> <show overlays> When I select image with wire frame it looks like it is creating a larger letterbox. But the export output when it is large is both fuzzy and distorted even when I import a 1920 x 1080 version.
Tom/Ashley perhaps this isn't the program to use. All I need is a high res 16:9 QT with music and movie married into one file and stable being used on computers and LCD players. It will not be TV viewed. I could reframe the Keynote to 4:3 if I have to to get the viewing size and image quality.
What would you suggest. And again thank you. I have been fiddling with this for weeks, with progress but no success. Cathy

• How can I export a full image from flash to jpeg?

Hi,
First of all hello to everybody.
Could somebody give a  hand with this? I am trying to export a flash image to jpeg. I can do it but the image is cropped when I open it in photoshop. This is the original image (is is an screenshot and not exported with flash):

And this is the image exported with flash (as you can see it is cropped on the right):
http://www.flickr.com/photos/22338638@N06/4615821566/
Why is the second image cropped?
I would really welcome any help.
Thanks,

• Suddenly can't export to an image or save to web - what's went wrong?

I can't save to web - it just saves it as a white box. I also can't export it as a jpg - what can I do?

Fixed it!
It wasn't letting me select what part of the image was optimized - once I'd clipped it, it did
Thanks for putting me on the right track!

• Can you export a raw image to an external editor?

Just wondering if Aperture 2 will allow you to edit a raw image in an external editor (Nikon Capture NX) as a raw image not as a tiff?
Thanks.

Shannon,
It would appear that this cannot be done, due to no option for that file type when exporting a Version, and the file type is only available when exporting a Master, which by definition does not have the adjustments.

• How can I use IMGPLOT to display a 12-bit image in false color?

I want to use IMGPLOT to display a 12-bit image in false color employing VC++ 7.0 . Actually it is stilla grey level. The only difference is to customize a new palette. I guess Ni should have a API for me change the palette. I donot want to convert my image into color image since its processing speed is slow.
Any people has the silimar experience to do this?
Thanks a lot in advance!
zmt

Hi Bruce Ammons,
Thank you very much for your answer. I still need your clear instruction.
I can directly display 12 bit image in 256 grey level just using IMGPLOT function without any mapping operation. That is because IMGPLOT directly supports to draw a 12 bit image through IMGPLOT_MONO_12 flag.
IMGPLOT prototype is imgPlot(GUIHNDL window, void* buffer, uInt32 leftBufOffset, uInt32 topBufOffset, uInt32 xsize, uInt32 ysize, uInt32 xpos, uInt32 ypos, uInt32 flags=IMGPLOT_MONO_12 ).
Hence I just need a C++ function to change the palette. I believe that IMGPLOT automatically does the 12bit to 8 bit mapping for me. What I need to do is just to change the palette. The question is which NI'S API can change the palette and work well with IMGPLOT. Or I have
to use IMGPLOTDC and change the palette in the selected DC by myself.
Your great help is much appreicated!

• Can I export mutiple stills at a time?

i can export one still image at a time. but can i export multiple still images at a time? how can i do that?
G5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   Power Mac 5, 2.3 G Duel, 2 G Ram, Kona LS

What Marcel is suggesting does in fact give you several pictures. If you choose a clip that is one second long, and export it as an image sequence, you's get 30 still images. A 4 second clip, you'd get 120 images...all in sequential order.
Do you mean is it possible to export still images from several different clips at the same time? No, you need to tell FCP what frame in what clip to export.

• Cant work with 32 bit image files?

Hi there, I am unable to work with 32 bit image files on our cs6 ? I am fallowing a tutorial and a person creates a new file with 32 bit channel selected from dropdown menu, and starts painting on it he is using CS5. When I create a 32 bit file and select the brush tool, it comes on with circle and cross line and error comes up saying that the brush tool is not supported with 32 bit image files, in fact, I cant use any tools on the 32 bit images, I can't even create a new layer on the file. There is one thing I can do, which is a great feature, I can save it! But it's not much of a use now is it? If the image is plane white sheet. Is this a special feature that you need to purchase seperetly? Could you please advise. Regards

Hello again,
so resetting the preference file makes no difference to the problem.
I checked 6 of our macs. 3 of the macs can create the 32 bit images and allow paint and other tools with no problem. Jet the other 3 macs have the same problem as I have. I checked my 2008 macbook which has CS5, and it can also edit 32 bit files. Checked my PC yesterdey which has CS6 installed, can't work with 32 bit image files.
I find this very odd, some work and some don't. Any suggestions would be great. Please also find a screenshot of the mac with the issue.
Kind regards,

• Can't import 32-bit files?

I'm posting for a friend who is running Logic 8 on a Macbook. She and I were trying to import .wav files created in Reaper but couldn't do it because they're 32-bit files. Now I know about bit rates but I've never heard of audio files rendered at 32-bit, it's always 16 or 24. I know that DAWs use 1 32-bit floating point when you're working with them but once they become .wav files they're either 16 or 24. So can anyone shed some light and help us understand why this is??

Some DAWS can indeed export 32 Bit files. Try converting them to 24 Bit .aiff with Compressor, an app that comes with Logic Studio and can almost convert anything into everything, strangely enough it can't create wavs but that doesn't matter in your case.

• Generate 32-Bit Images with MapViewer?

Hi,
is there any posibilitiy to generate 32-bit images with an alpha-channel (RGBA)?
Currently I can only produce 24-bit images without an Alpha-Channel (RGB).

• Blending 32-bit images into panorama clips brightness in CC (Windows)

Hi all,
I'm running Photoshop CC on Windows and am trying to stitch a HDR panorama.  I have several 32-bit HDRI images, and I can open them individually and see that the full range of brightness is present by reducing the exposure and seeing the detail come up in the bright areas.
However when I try to run them through Photomerge, I end up with an image that has the brightness clipped - reducing the exposure no longer brings out the highlights in the bright areas.
The culprit seems to be the auto-blending part of the process.
How can I blend 32-bit images to end up with a panorama that has the same dynamic range as the original images?  There doesn't seem to be much point having panorama support for 32-bit images if it clips the dynamic range.  Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance

• Export to Still Image only exports PICT. PICT not supported in 64-bit

Quicktime Player Pro 7 only exports still images as Quicktime compressed images in a PICT container. However, neither Preview nor Photoshop CS5 read PICT files anymore. (There don't seem to be any 64-bit PICT handlers)
So I can export a still image out of a movie?

Yes. Either use Leopard OS for QT 7 Pro export as a PICT and Preview to covert to another format or use MPEG Streamclip (free) to export the frame directly to JPEG, TIFFF, and/or PNG formats under Snow Leopard OS.

• When I finish editing in Photoshop with 16-bit PSD, I can't view the new image in Aperture3

Friends:
This worked fine when I told Aperture to export 8-bit TIFF's.  My Photoshop teacher said to switch to 16-bit PSD's.
No problem going to Photoshop.  I edit, add layers, and save.
What I see in Aperture is a black thumbnail and an image that has jumbled chunks of the original image.
Help!
Thanks,
bert

Rename or delete secmod.db (secmod.db.old) and possibly cert8.db (cert8.db.old) in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case there is a problem with those files.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile]]
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

I wish to export several frames from iMovie as if they were images (like JPEGs or TIFFs). Is it possible to do this using iMovie, if so how? Any advice is greatly appreciated. I've already managed to 'add a freeze frame' to isolate the desired frames but I can't export it. Thanks.

Ach... I found a solution thanks to previous posts which came to light after I'd posted what was obviously a question that had been asked before.
