QT file out of sync

I made a QT file out of a 5min Final Cut Pro movie, used 30fps for YouTube. Before I uploaded it, I viewed it and it was just noticeably out of sync when people spoke. Can I make it more in sync by redoing the project?

I'm discovering sync issues with QT's also. It seems to be a consistent 4 frames out of sync, with video later than audio. I've been doing test outputs where I slip my audio downhill 4 frames in my timeline and make a QT and it then appears to be in sync.
Ironically, my frame offset is set to 4 frames in System Preferences/PlaybackControl. But this only affects playback to external monitors, not output, so I'm ignoring this fact.
My concern is how do I know which is accurate, my timeline or the Quicktime? If I send out an EDL for mixing, is my audio session going to match the picture or be four frames off?
You may not know the answer to that one, but I wanted to start by asking if you found your fix, and renewing this thread with an expanded version of your initial question.

HELP .... HD FILES OUT OF SYNC AUDIO&VIDEO

Hi, everybody. This is my problema.
I Have some files in HD, this files plays without problem in Quicktime,
but in FCP are out of sync audio and video. I have this problem only with a HD Files. About a week this worked fine in FCP, but i charged FINAL CUT STUDIO and the problem apears.

and i buyed final cut studio 5
I installed the FCP Version 5.1 and i dont have any problem with captures HD FILES, editing or playing in FCP version 5.1 ** BUT*
I updated FCP 5.1 to 5.1.2 and the problems appaers
only in HD 1080i FILES the audio is out of sync video in a VIEWER and CANVAS
Some people says me that problem is RAM problem (may be i ahve 512MB)
But i think
1. May be is a configuration problem OR
2. Software problema

Quicktime file out of sync when trying to convert it to

I was sent a .mov file created on a Mac via yousendit.com, and downloaded to my office PC via yousendit.com. I need to convert it into a format I can burn onto a DVD using Vegas Pro and DVD Architect.
It plays fine as a .mov file from my desktop but when I play it from DVD Architect, the sound and picture are out of sync.
I put it into Vegas Pro to see if I could sync the sound but there is no picture when played from Vegas Pro.
Is this because there is a problem with the .mov file, and/or the fact it was downloaded from yousendit.com, or is it a problem with DVD Architect and/or Vegas Pro?

Please mention the configuration of your system specially CPU and RAM.
This error usually occurs, if you run too many memory-extensive applications simultaneously. So try performing those redaction tasks after closing some of the background processes/applications

MXF files out of sync

Okay. I've imported my MXF audio & video files... but they won't sync. It's like I can sync up "parts" of clips but then they fall out of sync again... strange.
The footage is DVC Pro50 HD @ 24 fps. Any quick syncing tips?

No the log and transfer didn't work (even with pulldown box unchecked. Probably because I never stopped and started the camera (HVX200). Just kept popping cards in and out of camera and dumping them into P2 store. Just got alot of "incomplete" and spammed clips that FCP would not transfer.
So, I ingested all video and audio MXF files vis P2 CMS and THEN imported them into FCP. Put them into the time line and they won't sync up (i.e. In and Out points, markers... anything... I even tried multicam...ugh). Its like they (video & audio) run at variable speeds...and they are just barely off. I've moved back and forth back and forth... frame by frame. Trying to sync up by "flashes" "pops"... anything. Oh - DVCPRO HD

Using FCXP 10.0.5
Exporting using h.264
Using one audio clip in a multi cam edit
Audio - stereo
Sample rate is 48kHZ
Video - 1080P 29.7p video
Using high quality original/optimized in preferences.
I've tried Pro Res HQ but still no luck.

Please try renaming one of the footages from .mts to .m2ts and then import in Premiere. See if that helps.

Exported AIFF file out of sync

I have a 1080i HDTV sequence in FCP 6.0.6, 48KHz 16 bit audio. Video clips are from a Canon 5DMk II transcoded to ProRes HQ via Streamclip. I was going to do a little audio cleanup using Bias Peak, so I exported an AIFF file of the completed sequence from FCP. Something is goofing up the exported file's rate as it is now running slightly longer than the original. As a test, I exported the audio from 1 clip and immediately imported it back into FCP, placing the test audio in the sequence under the original audio, then listened to the mix. As soon you hit play, you can hear the audio going out of phase with itself. Checking the sequence properties, I have 30fps/48Khz/32 bit floating point. Video Clip properties 30fps/48Khz/16 bit integer. Audio clip properties 48Khz/16 bit integer. AIFF created by: File>Export>Audio to AIFF{s}. What do you think?

Ran the clips through MPEG Streamclip again at 29.97fps and created a new Project with matching Sequence Settings. Exported AIFF matches original audio perfectly. We are now A-OK.

Line 21 scc file Out Of Sync by 1 hour

I have a project for which I have added a CC .scc file to the main track. However, when I test the DVD Build, the captions are displayed EXACTLY one hour off. The original video, exported from FCP, has a start time code of 1:00:00;00, as does the .scc file. However, DVDSP's track time code starts at 00.00.00;00. I have checked in the preferences for DVDSP and I can not seem to find a setting to change the track's timecode base.
The DVD was created using an mov reference file exported from FCP. I am currently encoding m2v and ac3 streams with compressor to see if I get better result.
So, while I am waiting, I thought I would ask:
1. could the DVDSP time code base be the problem?
2. Will using m2v/ac3 files resolve the cc timing issue.
3. If 1 and 2 are not the reason for the timing issue, what would cause the cc to offset by exactly 1 hour?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I finally figured out the solution:
In the track's Other tab, there is a track offset. I set that to 1:00:00;00, and the captions all lined up.

I've read the various threads about sync problems, but have not been able to resolve mine. I am consistently getting audio that is one frame shorter or longer than my video.
I am working in PAL using FCP 4.5/DVDSP 3.0/A.PACK 1.5/Compressor 1.x/QT 6.5.2
I export my video from FCP as a QuickTime file, then compress it to MPEG-2. The audio is exported from FCP using QuickTime conversion to AIFF, then the AIFF file is converted using A.PACK.
(I was having much more severe sync problems when I exported the AIFF file using QT player)
I realize 1 frame is not so bad, but it should be spot on. Is this because of poor PAL support in FCP? Will upgrading to FCP Studio/DVDSP 4 help?
What about using QT 7.0.3 vs 6.5.2 ?

What David said, with the addition that you can also just build the project and play the VIDEO_TS folder back with DVD Player to check sync, if you don't want to burn a test disc quite yet.

Flash and Soundbooth files out of sync on rewind

If I add a flash animation (52s) and audio into Captivate, they play together beautifully. If I rewind all the way, great. If I drag the slider backward to a point, the sound moves and not the animation. This also happens if I embed the audio in the flash video before import. Is there a way around this?

Have you checked that iCloud syncing is enabled in both of these locations:
settings > iCloud > iCloud drive > pages
and
settings > pages
If so, have you tried turning them off and on again (you might try restarting between these.

HELP! Imported audio files now randomly out of sync!

I cut a short film a while ago. It was shot on HDV. I used some in-camera audio (from the HDV tapes) but also, some audio files from my sound mixer, which I originally imported as WAV files and manually sunc them up. Everything was fine.
Later, I outgrew the original media drive and upgraded, copying all of my media to the new drive. When I did that, I noticed that all of the camera audio was fine, but all of the audio that had been imported from those WAV files was randomly out of sync -- meaning that some files were 1 sec early, some 16 frames late, etc.
When I broke the link and re-linked to the original drive, all was fine again. Now, however, doing that makes those original files out of sync also.
When I relink these files now, FCP ALWAYS finds a discrepency with them: They supposedly have a different "Media Start and End" and "Rate." Apparently, that's why they're being offset, but they're the EXACT same files that I started with, so what's up?!??
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. They represent A LOT of work to fix one by one.

This is what it says under FORMAT: 24-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
Incidentally, this is EXACTLY the same for both the files on the original drive (that play perfectly in sync) and the copied ones that are out of sync.
I realize that FCP likes AIFFs, but WAVs is what my sound guy gave me.
Any other ideas?

Managed Beans out of sync

I cancelled some old pages but navigation.xml and managed-bean.xml are out of sync. IMHO this is very bad for source maintenance and for renaming new page version. Have I to delete them manually from files? Is there some other file out of sync?

Quicktime playback problems - Mpg4 (h.264/aac) out of sync only in QT

I'm having some trouble with Mpg4 playback in Quicktime for windows. All my videos play fine in QT on a mac, they play fine in VLC on PC. But playback on QT for windows goes in and out of sync. It doesn't matter what Mpg4 codec I use, it happens with all of them.
I've tried uninstalling itunes as I had read that could create this problem, but that didn't fix it. I tried adjusting the audio output device latency because I read this could effect the sync as well. The only way we've found to fix this is to bring the file into final cut, take the original file out of sync by 3-10 frames and export with the adjusted audio. But I can't do this for every video, I have thousands and thousands of files for distribution. I need some solution for the player. Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a way to fix it?

Is the delay very slight...with the audio coming before the video? Are you using home theater audio separate from the TV's built-in audio? If so, more than likely, your TV is performing real-time video processing like rescaling, color & contrast adjustments, etc. This often takes several milliseconds, so the audio actually precedes the video. The TV's audio system is adjusted to compensate, but sending the audio to another system bypasses this feature.
Sorry to say that this type configuration can only be fixed with outboard digital delay. Some home theater boxes have this feature, otherwise, one can buy an outboard digital delay box. I actually have two...one on DTV/TiVo and the other on the DVD player.
This particular problem is usually evidenced by very slight delay of video...perhaps 2-3 video frames...which would be in the 30-90 millisecond range. This would be the equivalent of a news anchor's single syllable.

I too have the same problem. The audio drop out of sync in about 5 sec in not uncommon for the audio to be 30+ sec behind video. Apple needs to fix this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its a joke, my iphone is all messed up after the last update as well. at one time not to long ago apple products and software were top rated, not so much any more, more and more problems are showing up and apple is unwilling or unalbe to fix the many issues. Apple needs to fix the audio sync problem, it not the computer hardware or other software it ITUNES!!!!, there is no workaround other then hitting pause and hitting pause and hitting pause to temp fix the problem.

Finder/Cover Flow is out of sync by one file?

Hi all, I've had this problem for a while and it's really frustrating.In Finder using the 'Cover Flow' option, my files are out of sync by one file. By 'out of sync', I mean the the bottom half of the screen is showing one file but the top half of the screen is 'previewing' the wrong file by one. It's only off by one file, but this is really annoying.
When I use the view options 'Icons', 'list' or 'columns' I don't have this problem.What can I do?

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/. Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by loggin out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.

You might need to redo the View settings after an update.
If you look at the 'More Like This' box (top right) it seems the Cover Flow view is having problems.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
