QT format doesn't work, only dvstream. Resulting DVDs look terrible. Help!
I'm really frustrated with this. For years I've been using my Avid Xpress DV to edit and exported a host of movies during that time using the DVstream format and for the most part it's been acceptable. For some reason I never understood, any time I attempted to use quicktime movie as the format I have never been able to get it to work. The audio works fine, but the video is not there. It's either blank or I get a solid green screen. So, as I said I'd always used dvstream. The problem is I just did 110 minute African safari documentary and the footage looks great. But when I burned DVDs the compression looked terrible. The blacks become milky, there is very noticeable compression and it looks soft, a hollow imitation of the original DV format footage. Not at all the way it should look. I am using iDVD 8 on the "professional setting." I even cut the sequence in half to around 50 minutes and exported and burned a DVD and it looked EXACTLY the same. So I thought maybe I am using the wrong settings to export. I read around the web and was reminded of what others had been using as settings. Everyone seems to be using QT movies! I tried again to export and chose QT, picking avidDV as the video compressor and uncompressed audio. I used 720 by 480 (had been using 540) picked the recommended field (I believe the top choice) chose the 601 color etc and the same **** thing happens. In fact, when I preview the DVD in iDVD8 you can see that it won't display the video track while the audio track plays fine. I have the Avid codec installed in case that's an issue. I refuse to accept that this is the best I can get this DVD to look. It's an insult to all of our work. So I'd be tremendously grateful for any and all help or advice in this matter. I'm now sitting on my hands, at a loss to fix this. I do not have the option of using another program other than iDVD so please keep the response aware of this. Sure it;d be nice to buy a new program but it's not going to happen. THANKS!
I kind of suspected that beside the fact that I consider myself fairly smart about this stuff this was actually a fairly simple problem to fix and that in my panic trying to resolve this for hours and hours I was overlooking something obvious. Despite the fact that I thought I had put the avid codec manually into what I thought was the proper system folder, a download from Avid ti install the latest codecs into my macbook pro fixed it. Now I'm ready to burn and see if the discs look better. Fingers crossed...

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

I've encountered AIR issue with text formatting. Bold formatting doesn't work on android device.

Currently I haven't received any helpful feedback from adobe bug system.

AIR 4 is released already and it doesn't have the issue fixed.
This issue becomes painful for us because we can't update to new AIR versions.
Currently we stuck with AIR 3.6. AIR 3.6 has bugs on new Android operational systems.
But we can't migrate to new AIR4 because bold formatting used heavily by our application doesn't work.

Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is 100%.
If the iPad still does not start make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. -
Hello. I recently updated numbers on my macbook pro. I like the auto completion feature (proposing te word as I type). With this new update, I cannot see this feature and it doesn't work automatically. Can I have any help on this issue ?
This is really unfortunate. I'm sorry that nothing works. I was going to mention holding down the power button and doing a force shutdown but you already did that. You might need to take it into the Apple store. I don't know if booting into safe mode would help. You would have to turn off the machine again, hit the start button and hold down the shift key after you hear the tone, but normally you would let go of the shift key when you see the apple logo and spining wheel. Maybe by holding down the shift key after you here the tone will cause the screen to come back on? The other option is to start up from the 'install disk' if your machine came with one. You would insert the disk, then shut down the computer, and hold down the C key right after hitting the start button.

Preview and .m2v look beautiful, resulting dvd looks awful
I have a short film (2 minutes). It's fairly darkly shot (purposely so), shot in a car at night. There is a nice amount of defintion though, as the actor in the driver's seat is nicely lit, and the backseat falls to black, like I want.
I used Compressor to encode the film, using the DVD: Best Quality 90 minutes setting. Viewing the preview in the simluate mode of dvdsp, and also watching the m2v in Quicktime, I see exactly what I want: the blacks are rich and deep. However, the resulting dvd looks awful. The blacks are muddy and EXTREMELY artifacty. It's completely ugly and unusable.
What could be causing this? And what can I do to fix it? I'm using a very cheap brand of dvd-r I've never used before... could that be part of the problem?Thanks, Drew. Yes, first course of action will definitely be going out and getting some name brand dvds. This is the first time I've ever cheaped out on blank dvds, and hopefully that's the problem, 'cause that's easily fixed.
I've not had a chance to view the resulting dvd on a proper NTSC studio monitor, but I've looked at it on a decent tv, and on two different computer monitors, and it looks similarly crappy on all three.
I did not make any adjustments in Compressor, I just used the basic setting mentioned above. Could that make a difference? Could upping the bit rate make a difference? I was thinking that since the previews of the resulting encodes looked so nice, that the problem didn't lie there. But, as you might be able to tell, this is hardly my area of expertise.
Unfortunately, I cannot afford bitvice at the moment, but I'll add it to a list of things to look at for future investments.

I just purchased a Samsung ML2160 printer and it doesn't work with nor my Pages program, nor the Preview (to print PDF). No matter the way I tried, the Print function doesn't work and I cannot neither print or even enter the printer preferrences menu! My MacBook Pro has worked before with other printers, but now with the Samsung it doesn't work at all... Though, if I drag and drop a document, jpg, pdf in the printer queue, it prints just fine, but that method gives me absolutely no freedom to the printing... Could it be something from the Computer -> Machintosh HD -> Library -> Printers? Because a friend of mine was recently trying to save me some disk space, and therefore erasing part of the HP printer (to remove the previous printer I owned)...

Thank you in advanceDo the sensible thing, as you say neither Preview nor Pages print, try other programs eg TextEdit. If none of them print then it is a System problem and very likely the printer drivers are AWOL or were never installed.

Linked column with # sign doesn't work in report results
I have a 2 page query situation, whereas in the 1st page I have a wildcard query to find a product number.
This product number is set-up as link to run a report which opens in another page.
(Type is a STRING.)
Everything works fine unless the product number starts with the # sign.
I can run a report using this in a non-linked page, but it doesn't work in the linked page...?

I've big troubles with my motherboard P7N diamond with reinstalling vista 64 bits.
I have 3 HD :
1) Western Digital Raptor 150 GB 10.000 TM 16 MB cache SATA
2) Seagate 300 GB 7.200 TM 8 MB cache SATA
3) Western Digital 160 GB IDE
I have installed the SATA drivers available on MSI website and the bios version is 1.1.
I've format the 2 WD HD with Vista DVD.
When I want to install vista on the IDE drive, it works ! But when I want to install it on the WD Raptor SATA drive, it is not working - > blue screen and error messages ...
How do I have to do ? Thank you for your help, it is important.
DidierI recommend installing your vista disk on your raptor drive and using your seagate drive to use for vista page file for hard disk space reserved by Windows for use as additional memory and your IDE drive just for storage if needed.
Start by installing your copy of Windows Vista on your raptor drive and once that is done and all updates are done Click on the start menu and right click on computer and Choose properties.
Then choose advanced system settings.
Click advanced tab then under performance heading choose settings.
Check the advanced tab again then under the virtual memory heading click change.
Un-check the automatically manage paging file size for all drives box.
In the window that shows the list of partitions (C:, D:, etc.) choose a partition that resides on the physical hard drive that does not have Windows installed and highlight it. Select the system managed size option then click the set button. This will create a paging file on the hard disk in question.
You will notice that the paging file size for the drive now reads system managed.
Now highlight your C: partition (assuming that this is where Windows Vista is installed). Select the no paging file option and click set.
Your IDE drive can just be used for extra storage then for pictures or whatever. -

Sounds like your friend is a bit dumb and bought a carrier locked iPhone. The only way to address this is to contact the carrier to whom the device is locked and find out their unlock policy.
