QT in background: active hotkeys?

Hi,
I've got hours and hours of .wav-files with texts that i have to type into Word.(yes, it does suck). My life would be much easier if it were possible to control the play/pause function in QT through a keyboard shortcut, without losing the focus on Word. Does anybody know whether this is possible and if so, how? I hope this question makes sense, of not, I'll clarify.
thanks to all,
Traversario

You have a bunch of WAV (audio format) that also include text?
Using QuickTime Pro you could "extract" the text track and export it to text. Then just copy/paste into Word.

  • Requested End Deadline monitoring for Background Activity Step

    Hi All,
Workflow for MSS Position change has been implemented in the system.
When a request was created thru Portal the Workflow was triggered but it got stuck.
I found that in a background activity step there is a requested end deadline monitoring which was reached.
Since it is a background activity there is no agent assigned, then what could be the reason that the deadline was reached ?
Can anyone tell me when is the Requested End deadline triggered ?
    Regards,
    Radhika.

    Hello,
Yes, if it's workitem creation time + 1 minute then it means the deadline (any deadline - Latest End, Requested End, Requested Start etc, they're all the same, they just have different names) gets triggered.
What happens next depends on how that deadline has been defined - it may just send a message to someone and do nothing else (ie it leaves the background process running). Or it may be a modeled deadline set up to end the process. Have a look in the Requested End tab to see what it does.

  • How to set Background Activity state as error

    HI Experts,
In case of foregruond activities,i know we can make the status as ' in progress' by exit_cancelled.What I want to do is,in case of background activity, if some error comes,i should be able to generate some sort of message, seeing which administrator can come to know that there is some problem. If I use exit_cancelled ,that doesnt solve the purpose.I think something should be there but I'm totally unaware. Please help me know how is that done .

    Hello Vivek,
position your cursor in the object builder on the method declaration; then push the button "Exception".
Declare an exception 9001 or greater, which is marked as "Application" or "System" error (both of these types will result in a error state of the work item, later on). Choose some useful message id.
In the implementation of the object's method, use the macro
    exit_return 9001 <var1> <var2> <var3> <var4>.
If you're not using any variables, use SPACE.
Instead of setting the error state for a work item immediatly, you could also set the exception type to "temporary". If you do so, the workflow runtime system will re-execute the work item 3 times after every 20 minutes (if you're using the SAP standard settings). Only after the third exception the work item will be set to error state.
    Best wishes,
    Florin

  • Photos (Background Activity) using all of my battery

I've had this problem for about a month where my Photos app is using 20% to 30% of my battery daily and 25% to 35% weekly with "Background Activity". I've contacted Apple Genuis twice about it and they have no clue what the problem is and I've sent full diagnostic tests in and still have no clue. I've restored my phone and always quit Photos app in multitasking even though I don't use it that much, I use other apps more than I use Photos but it still uses twice the battery as my main apps. I turned off most of my apps to have access to my photos and don't have iCloud Photo Share or Stream on. I can't find the Photos app in the background app refresh settings to turn off background activity so how do I stop it from using all of my battery? Please help!

So my phone is having the exact same issue except my problem lies with Notes.
This has literally happened since the 8.3 update a few days ago.  I'm on 2+ full charges a day on my iPhone 6 that used to last me 9-10 hours!!  I've been to the Genius Bar as well been on the phone with AppleCare & they have no clue.  I've done 2 full restores from my old backup with no change & diagnostics show the battery-life is at 100% with no faults.  It does show a steady drain however, and I've even wiped iCloud from my phone & added it as new!!
Anyone have a solution!?!?  Literally about to throw my phone at a wall!

  • BI 7: Background activation very slow compared to Dialog activation

We are using the SAP BI 7.0 with SP15 and this question is about efficiency of dialog process compared to inefficiency of the background process and I want suggestions from SAP Basis/BI experts on this.
We have observed that our background processes on BI server are not running as efficiently as we would like them to run.
    For example
    DSO activation:
When I use u201CDialogu201D mode for DSO Activation with 3 parallel processes, I can activate a certain DSO with in 15 seconds. But the same DSO and the same data package when activated using u201Cbackgroundu201D mode with 3 parallel process takes about 15 minutes.(there are plenty of background processes available on the system when this activation is running). So dialog process runs 60 times faster than background process.
We saw the job log in SM37 when activation was running in the background mode and log showed that system
u201CProgram RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS successfully scheduled as job BIBCTL_49VQYEYSLA9SH00QBYNN3MTUV with ID XXXXXu201D was executed internally about 100 times.
In BI 7 most of the operations can be executed only in the background parallel mode. And from the activation example we know that our background processes are not as efficient as dialog processes. It is understood that in general the background processes will not be as efficient as dialog processes, but in our case the difference is a factor of 60. We want help to identify, why the background processes are not as efficient as dialog processes. Any suggestion or help will be highly appreciated. This may be System Bug in SAP BI 7

I am having this same issue in SP15.  Did you find any solution?
I am finding my activation is slow for the number of records being activated.  The process RSBATCH_EXECUTE_PROZESS successfully scheduled as job BIBCTL_49VQYEYSLA9SH00QBYNN3MTUV with ID XXXXXu201D was executed internally about many, many times.  And if you look at the aggregate time of all of these schedulings this is what is taking soo much time.  Our batch job table is not large so this is not the problem.
    Any more ideas?

  • Background activity overwhelms in the middle of the day

Just upgraded to a MacBook Pro, Intel, 10.5.2. Everything seems to work ok. But about 11:15 am, every day, the activity monitor shows CPU usage maxing out and all functions become faltering and sluggish, like typing with a stutter, you type something and wait to see it, or hit the scroll bar and wait for it to move. This lasts for a few hours before resuming normal speed. I look at the active processes and don't really understand what I'm seeing. It looks like this...

Changing every 2 seconds. I thought all background maintenance happened at 3:00 am and so have it scheduled to turn on at that time each morning. And in the morning it's on and running at normal speed... until 11:15. This lasts for several hours and is really unhandy. What's happening and how do I fix it? I notice the battery is always at around 60% also, I've never seen it at 100%... could this be related in some way? Should I be concerned? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I don't know how to interpret all this, but I am wondering if you can just find and quit the CPU hog? Be sure that "All Processes is selected at the top and that the bottom bar is set to CPU. Then scan down the CPU column and see what the hog is and quit it. Make note of what it is and if it's always the same thing.
You can check on when the launch daemons are scheduled to run the maintenance scripts. Finder>Macintosh HD>System>Library>LaunchDaemons>com.apple.periodic_daily.plist.
    For weekly: com.apple.periodic_weekly.plist
    for monthly: com.apple.periodic.monthly.plist
The daily should be set to run at 3:15 AM, the weekly for 3:15 AM on Saturday, and the Monthly for 5:30 AM on the first day of the month.
If the computer is on and awake, it will run the scripts then. If it is asleep, it will run them when it wakes up. There is a widget called "Maintidget" that you can install that will tell you when they were last run or allow you to run them manually.
Offhand, I don't think that this is a Maintenance script--I think it is something else getting launched and getting into some sort of a loop. If you can tell what it is from the CPU column of the Activity monitor and post back, that would be very helpful. I don't think I know enough about software to tell you how to fix it, but I imagine that there are others who can. But getting it identified for sure is the first step.
    Good luck!

  • Changing name of macro in Background activity

    Hello Experts,
Currenly we are working on SCM 5.1 version.
I am facing one issue. Whenever I changes macro & move to production through transport request & that macro if we used any activity(Background job) in production then the macro name changes to some technical name.
Do we have any SAP notes or something to resolve this issue?
    Thanks & Regards
    Sujay

    Hi Sujay,
We have also faced this issue.
What we have observed is. If you transport a macro, then modify and save it in the destination system and after that you send another transport later on. This problem occurs. We were unable to find a note or solution to this rather than fix it manually.
What we learnt was never to make a macro change in production directly. What happens in that case is, its internal GUID changes and when we transport from another system, the old GUID comes in. However all of background jobs are pointing to the old GUID and hence the mismatch.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • I want to minimize background activity online.

I have one older computer, Pentium 3 from 2002. It really bogs down on line with miscellaneous activity in the background. How can Firefox options help minimize this? Don't know what it is doing most of the time, but seems to be slower now that there are so many ads, etc. with live content on internet sites. I'm talking about standard type sites, not video, etc: CNN; on line orders through REI and other well established companies; my Frontier email. I keep the machine stripped down with applications and minimize open windows, this still happens.

You can look at Adblock Plus: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/1865

  • SPM 2.1 datasource background activity when running report for first time

    Hi All,
When I log into SPM and click New -> Report, the cursor changes to the timer icon before i drag in a dimension or run a report.
In SM66 there is an SQL read statement that appears to coincide with this front end behaviour.
Often this process times out in the front end with a timeout error and "time dimension value help failed".
Then if i go to create a new report again, a new tab opens, and it opens instantly and there is no SQL read statement.
Why is an SQL read statement occurring at this point before any data is selected?
Why does it take so long?
    Many thanks for any help
    Kind regards,
    Neil

    Hello,
We initialize the time dimension when the reporting console is opened for the first time. Sometimes depending on the load on your server , this could take a long time thus timing out. I would suggest you to look at the load on your java server. Also , check if there are any background processes running on the ABAP side. Also take a look at the timeout limit in Application Properties and see if you can increase this limit. This might help initially.
As mentioned , the time dimension is only initialized when the reporting console is opened for the fist time in a given session. This explains why you don't see such a behavior subsequently.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks,
    Madhav

  • How do I turn off background ni file activity when not using Labview? files such as nimxs.exe, nipalsm.exe, nipalsm.exe, nisvcloc.exe, nicitdl5.exe

How do I turn off background ni file activity when not using Labview? I use labview rarely, and I also use my computer for demanding multimedia applications, including multitrack digital audio recording. I need to reduce as much background activity as possible, and taking a look with task manager I see files such as nimxs.exe, nipalsm.exe, nipalsm.exe, nisvcloc.exe, and nicitdl5.exe running even when I haven't used Labview (8 I believe). These files run even after I right click the NI icon on the lower right and turn off the application. I would like the computer to boot up without these files, and for the necessary files to be activated only when I start the program.
Can this be done or do I have to remove labview from the system to improve performance?
    Thanks

Hello, those processes are part of running NI services that start when Windows boots.  These processes serve varied purposes and stopping them can have undefined and unknown consiquences for your NI products.  These products run at "normal" priority meaning that they should be preempted by any process running at a higher priority which I would expect your other application to be doing given their time sensitivity.  That being said, in Windows XP (I can't speak for other OSes), you can lower their priorities even greater through task manager (right click the process»set priority) to further remove them from contention for resources.  If you want to prevent them from running you can set the service startup type to "manual" in Control Panel»Administrative Tools»Services.  Right click the process go to Properties and Under the General tab choose Startup Type»Manual.  This will start up the processes only when something directly starts it up.  LabVIEW will start these processes up as it attempts to use them.  When you shut down LabVIEW you will need to manually shut down these processes through task manager.  Again, doing this can cause problems with your NI products on your system and it is not advised.

  • Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Heavy background disk activity but not time machine

Since accepting the Software update that puts my version of ML as 10.8.2 I have began to notice a regular (every hour) constant heavy activity in one of my drives (yet to identify which one).
The said drive(s)?? whirr up and carry out activity that sounds as if it were carrying out a time machine backup BUT there is no indication that time machine is carrying out its job nor are any of the backups date/time stamped for the activity taking place.
Any ideas as to what is happening would be greatly appreciated as it is becoming rather annoying to listen to heavy background activity without being able to identify what is happening.
    Thanks in advance
    Les

Hi, Was looking through the forum because of a similar issue that occured twice yesterday. I was cleaning up and consolidating my externally connected disks (too many backups) 1 x USB connected, a NAS store and my Airport time capsule.  After a long session of deleting files I got the spinning globe on the finder window, I could not access other apps to look at what was going on, but I could here the  Time Capsule rattling away. Left it for 20 mins still the same, so had to crash the system to recover (hold power button in).  Four hours later and more tidying up, went to shut down and again heard the Time capsule rattling away but this time I got to the white screen and the spinning circle. Twenty minutes later still not shutdown so another crash of the system.
I am not sure whether this problem is the same as you have described but there are similarities hence I thought I would post.
Hope we can find a resolution
Apologies need to update my profile, have iMac 27inch with 10.8.2
