QT Pro - cropping

Does QT Pro have cropping capabilities for the video portion of a .MOV file, that is, just keeping the wanted area of the video and removing the rest whle retaining 100% of the audio?
Compaq   Windows 98

No. QuickTime Pro can't crop video.
MPEG Streamclip (free) can.

  • PLUG-IN for ADOBE PREMIERE PRO CROP IN NOT WORKING RIGHT

please help, I use mojo, fx factory atrtitude and and they recently have been cropping in when trying to mask out an object.  Doesn't mask correctly and something is going wrong...

We'll need a bit more info as mentioned above ...
    -OS/CPU/RAM/GPU/vRAM and driver details.
-Specific program versions ... "2014" or "CC" or "Latest" don't count. Give us numbers off the "About" page.
-Footage codecs & info, what cameras they come off of ...
-sequence settings ... and are you blending footage & frame-rate & sizes besides using 3rd party plugins?
-which specific plugins are you using, and if you try the same thing through PrPro's masking tools do you have problems (trying to see if it's just the plugins or if your Prpro's masking stuff is wonky)?

  • Premiere Pro Cropping end of sequence

When I place a clip on the time line it gets cropped on its right side, if I place another clip then the first clip is fine but the last clip gets cropped on the right.
Am I missing something here? And yes if I render it appears in the final render.

That's a feature referred to as the End of Sequence Indicator. Many people on these forums really really dislike it, so they were thrilled to learn that the impending update provides a way to disable it. For now, however, there's is no way to turn it off.
It does not, however get written to your encoded outputs. I'm guessing you think otherwise because you're bringing the clip back into Premiere to view it. Trust me, if you view the clip in another player, the EOS will not be there.

  • I am trying to use Acrobat Pro version XI to crop my PDF but can't find the "PAGES" tools

I have a 1 page PDF that is 9.5 inches wide with about 1.5 inches of margin.  I want to crop off the extra white space and center the image so that it fits on a normal letter sized page.  However, I can't find any sort of crop or trim command in Acrobat.  When I google cropping a PDF I find references to a crop command that is in some sort of "pages" collection of tools but I don't have any pages menu either.  Is there a way to use Acrobat Pro for cropping ?  How?
I also have photoshop and have tried importing and cropping there but when I export the image back to PDF format I find that its 10X the size it started.  Its important for my purposes that the file be small.

Well it was installed yesterday and I spent hours trying to find the option  as virtually the first thing I did when I launched it, so I'm quite sure I would have remembered if I changed it.  However it was installed by a push from our corporate software distribution system so maybe that has a way of reconfiguring some options. Why they'd bother is a mystery to me though.  Anyway, good to know, thanks again

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro cannot crop certain files that v7 can

I just upgraded to Acrobat 9 Pro for Mac, and find that it does not allow cropping of many files that I can crop with v7. At least in some cases, these are PDF/A files.  Does v9 prohibit the cropping of such files, and if so can the PDF/A restriction be overridden? I am running OS 10.5.8 on a G5.  Thanks!

No product should force security on its users without providing them any practical way to override. Web browsers, email clients, and operating systems warn you of potentially dangerous files and then let the client make the choice. What if it's a zip file from a trusted source full of harmless text documents? Too bad - because Acrobat says so. Acrobat makes no attempt to examine the zip file to see if perhaps its contents are dangerous - it just sweepingly decides zips are far too dangerous to let the user have any voice in the matter. I fundamentally disagree.
Notice that I've attached a zip file to this post. Adobe allows zips on their forums but not in their PDF documents. Adobe: If you've deemed zip files safe enough to be hosted and delivered in your own forums, why have you decided they have no place in a PDF?
I think Adobe got this one wrong - and I cast a vote that they loosen the noose on zip files on a future release. I'd like to hear other users' thoughts on this issue. Adobe is good at listening to their users - so tell them what you think on this issue - I've posted this article as a feature request here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/520515 - reply to it that thread and share your viewpoint.

  • Undesired cropping from FCP to DVD Studio Pro?

I start with a QT file exported from FCP 6. The settings are 16:9. The problem is the resulting DVD program I create in DVD Studio Pro plays in regular DVD players with the program-image cropped about 5% at the bottom and 5% at the top. I've tried other settings in DVD Studio Pro, such as using 4:3 or 4:3 pan-and-scan but, obviously, I get warped images (smushed horizontally) or cropped images.
Any ideas where things are going wrong?
    Shanked

Are you aware of safe area? If not it sounds like you're seeing the effects of overscan. If you watch the dvd on your computer monitor does it still crop the image? If so at what point are you seeing the cropping? ie does the frame look right in the simulator in dvdsp, how about if you look at the file you've exported from fcp?
You need to post the fcp capture (clip) settings, sequence settings and the method you're using to export from fcp (ie compressor, qt movie, qt conversion) as well as the encoding settings in dvd sp if you're just doing a qt export from fcp.

  • How to crop pages using Adobe LiveCycle ES2 PDF Generator and Acrobat 9.2 Pro Extended

    Hi all,
I'm evaluating the possibilities of Adobe LiveCycle ES2.0 PDF Generator in order to convert on the fly (programmatically) MS Office Documents and Visio drawings into PDF files.
I'm able to trigger this process using the Webservices API (from within C#). However when generating the PDF files in this way, each and every PDF file has a lot of white margins around it as it is generated as an 8x11 inch page.
I have been looking in ways to crop these white margins from around the information, so that the PDF content is only showing the actual content (in order to be used as an image).
I found a way of doing this manually by opening the generated PDF file of LiveCycle in Acrobat 9.2 Pro Extended and using the Document > Crop Pages... option.
So my question is: Can this be done programmatically using Adobe LiveCycle ES (and/or API functions of the Acrobat tool).
The envisioned solution would run on a server (without interaction/monitoring requirements by a human).
Any input about this is highly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,

  • Acrobat Pro 9.2 crops text when converting from Word 2003

When converting a Word 2003 file to PDF, using either PDF Maker or directly from Pro 9, the converted file crops a few lines of text at the top of some pages. Converting the same file by just printing to PDF is a work around, but this method does not create bookmarks, so is not preferable.
I create an updated version of a particular file monthly, using the old file as a basis.  The file will always have tracked changes in Word which are all accepted before converting the file, and the file always has a watermark, which is removed in Word and the file saved before converting to PDF.
Now here's the weird thing, if I remove the watermark in Word, save the file and convert to PDF, the cropping occurs.  But if I leave the watermark in the saved file, convert to PDF and remove the watermark in Acrobat, no cropping occurs! This is an OK work around too but I'd rather not have to do the workaround at all.
I've tried all the variations and settings I can think of, but I still end up working around the problem every month.
    Any ideas?

    They won't show up unless
you have click on each text box
    Go  Format  > Shape
    click on lines
chose desired line color for the borders.
once the Borders a colored they will show up in the created PDFs.

  • How do I crop a frame in Premiere Pro CS6?

In FCP, you can crop a frame by going to wireframe and simply adjusting it to crop the image area you want to show. I want to maintain 16:9 but simple make the clip 'zoomed in' to an area that I want. It won't be too drastic of a crop. Does Premiere Pro have the ability to do this?
    TIA,
    Ken

I see that, like the beginner that I am, I used the wrong terminology. Crop does indeed crop, but, working in print media for most of my life, what I was looking for was to seclect a portion of the view and 'enlarge it' to fill the frame with some selective positioning of the area to be used. It might be more correctly called 'zooming in' on an area of the original frame, and also filling the frame with that selected area. I hope that this helps give an idea of what I am after.
Another way of putting it might be like a car in the distance coming at the camera and then getting close to the camera. With that scene, what I would want to do is start by filling the frame with the car in the distance and keyframe a 'zoom out' effect that would keep the car filling the screen and eventually wind up with the car close to the camera. So the car would be big, filling the frame, all the while it was coming toward the camera. I belive this would be called starting with a full zoom and then 'zooming out' until the car was at the point near the camera.
PS: after trying everything again, I see that 'Scale' is indeed the answer to what I wanted. Keeping things centered on the screen is a trick and I've added many keyframes, almost at every frame in one instance, to keep the subject centered on screen. Also, I see that 600% is the maximum scale I can use to start with, so some responsibility must lie in the hands of the videographer and the zoom lens on the camera.
Any comments you have to possible help as I flounder with my beginning efforts would be appreciated. I believe control will come if I put the time in now.

  • 'Crop' doesn't trim pages as it used to (Acrobat 9 Pro)

I have a mult-page document with text only in the middle of each page, and with some pages a little larger than others.  I want to crop the unnecessary bordering material and have all pages end up as the same dimensions.
In Acrobat 7 I would highlight the area with the Crop tool, double-click on the area to bring up the Crop dialog box, click on "Revert to Selection" and set "All Pages", and all pages would be cropped to the rectangle I had selected.
In Acrobat 9, all pages get cropped, but pages that were originally larger are STILL larger.  I can't understand this.  Am I using one of the arcane, clumsy, and counter-intuitive Crop dialog commands improperly?
    Thanks for any help.

That would at least partially explain it.
These MacBook Pros drew more power than the power brick could readily supply, and so would only run at top speed when the power brick was supplemented by the battery.
Though the applicable tech note has been removed, it stated:
"If the battery is removed from a MacBook or MacBook Pro, the computer will automatically reduce the processor speed. This prevents the computer from shutting down if it demands more power than the A/C adapter alone can provide."

  • Weird Final cut pro x cropping???

Hello Everyone. I need help. I was editing my video with final cut pro x and all of a sudden, ALL of my video clips were clipped off on each end. When played back at full screen it looks like a video from 2007 (it looks like theres a 2 inch black border around the video). How do I fix that? It's not a simple crop issue because i feel like my view finder for final cut changed from the classic display viewing to a tall rectangle instead of wide rectangle.

Sounds like the Browser window was enlarged, which might cause the Viewer to be both reduced in size and have its aspect ratio changed. And/or your project settings don't match your clip properties; and/or Fill or None is selected for Spatial Conform.
It would help if you posted a screen shot.

  • Having a hard time transferring photos from MacBook Pro once they have been cropped or colored enhanced to my iPhone or iPad. If they have not been manipulated then they transfer fine. How can I fix this?

I've been cropping and editing pics in my MacBook Pro but once I try to transfer them to the iPhone or iPad 2 only the photos that have not been manipulated transfer with no problems. How do I solve this problem?

    Option 1:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.
    If that fails:
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Use the option to check and repair library permissions

When I try to use the crop tool in Acrobat 9 it will not let me be precise with the crop, like the area I draw is constrained. This just started about a month ago.

  • Cropping in QT Pro

I wish to remove stripes of width 8 pixels from the left and right sides of some NTSC DV footage. I want the resulting video to have its dimensions reduced the same amount. i.e. from 720 x 480 to 704 x 480.
I have followed the advice in this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1050269
Namely, I made a mask with 8 pixel stripes on each side, and set it in the "Visual Setting" property. However, this just resulted in transparent stripes on the left and right, but the video dimensions were the same. Therefore, when I exported the movie to a new file, the edges remained (in fact, they became white).
How can I actually crop the dimensions of the footage in QT Pro?
    Thanks for any help.

Do you really have to be able to do your cropping in QT Pro? MPEG Streamclip (free if you are a Mac user) would be much easier. Simply set the final desired frame dimension, check the cropping box, enter amount to crop from top, left, bottom, and right edges, and if amount of crop does not match desired frame dimensions, the check the scale box to rescale to desired frame size. Preview your settings for a portion of your file and then proceed to final processing.
