QT Pro Display formats

I'm making some tutorials for the kids at school to get to grips with PhotoShop and they need to display in portrait format. Every time I capture the video and then play it back in QT Pro it stretches it out to the letterbox format and distorts the image. Does anyone know if there is a way to get QT Pro to display in portrait orientation or do I have to settle for including part of the desktop as well?

Hi guys, thanks for the help. What I am trying to do is to capture activity from the screen using iShowU and then turn it into movies that I can use on the school's Intranet or over the Internet. the info was very helpful. Just got to work out how to reduce the file size wihtout losing too much in terms of quality now.

  • Pro Res format in camcorders?

    anyone think the camcorder companies will put this in their products? could the pro res format be the future HD format for consumer cameras?

    That's right. Take a deap breath. There's a lot to learn in this release of FCS.
    Here's my highlight summary of what I've learned.
    The most interesting geek tech is the new codec. Pro Res 4:2:2 they call it... it's looking good. Variable 1 and 2 pass bit rate. Comes in two flavors too. shrinks uncompressed HD to about 1/6th the size. Apple says it's visually lossless. Intraframe.
    It's media looks lossless from what was displayed by Apple at NAB to me... wow.
    and it's about the same size as uncompressed NTSC. lt will play from self powered FW dual mini drives.
    Let me say it agin... looks lossless from the demos I saw at NAB. It's the biggest news of all actually for our pocket books. no more fast of the fastest expensive arrays? Are the day's gone? Maybe.. maybe not in some cases. jury has to stay out on that one. The Pro Res Codec was still unfinished, but it looks good enough to lick. man. ain't tech great?
    The 3D in Motion is extremely elegant. It's a great UI in which I never got lost... cool. Round tripping with the new template stuff and FCP is nice too. New particles, new all sorts Motion 3 has come of age.
    AJA thinks enough of the codec to create IO HD with it. The HD box uses it thru FW 800. (it's completely native in all formats too if you like) I was the demo artist for it on the show floor much of the time. My feet are three times their normal size and I have no voice now.
    I must have spoken to literally thousands about this box. HD THRU FIREWIRE it' cross converts all forms of video to any other form Up, down, cross convert HD between 720 and 1080i etc... has analog and digital inputs sans firewire (you already have that) Accepts external timecode so you can record the TC from recording cameras and get media files that match the tape by the end of the shoot.
    Then FCP also works in mixed formats and EVEN FRAME RATES guys... wow. There's a lot more there too to gander on.
    We had it hooked up to a MBP running media from a dual sata array attached with the express card adapter. This is enough setup to work in the new codec in HD sourced, or even SD sourced... It's an intraframe codec for you super geeks.
    It was best of show at NAB Viddy award winner too. It's a hit guys. HD from external SATA... yeah. cheap storage for it. Yeah. my o my...
    This means..
    for well under 10k you're doing HD on a MBP... has to be one of those, no power PC support. It's an intel mac only box.

    Column Names:
    |-------------------------------------------------------|
    |Itemno |     SugQty     |     OrdQty     |

    Thanks Ranjit,
    We build the table dynamically using rows and columns with the required spans.
    So that we could achieve the same display format.
    Thanks.

  • Resolution of MacBook Pro display - always this fuzzy??

    I should have done my homework, but...
    I'm very sensitive to the fuzziness of the MacBook Pro display (especially the nearly grey and poorly defined letters on Word) and, to tell the truth, it's making my stomach turn and giving me a headache. I just received this computer through work, can't return it, and I'm stuck with it for three years now. what can I do or purchase to make the display CRYSTAL CLEAR (as in laser print quality)?
    Will an external monitor help? Which one?
    How can my iPod touch look so brilliant and this $2,500 laptop so archaic?
    Thanks for any and all help,
    Ants

    The reason your iPod Touch looks sharper is that it has a much higher pixel density than the MBP. Your iPod's screen is 163 ppi (pixels per inch) versus 110 ppi for the MBP. However, if it looks very fuzzy, I would agree with the other responder that your resolution isn't set to the screen's native resolution (1440 x 900) or that you are zoomed in (press control and scroll down on your mouse scroll wheel or two-fingered scroll on with the trackpad).

  • Using an LCD TV as the Macbook Pro display

    Hey
    I am trying to use a Samsung LCD Tv as the display monitor for my 15 in. Macbook Pro display. I have a DVI cord going from my laptop to a DVI-RGB adapter which is plugged into the LCD Tv monitor, but nothing shows up on the tv and the display is still on the laptop. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Assuming your adapter is valid, you try "Detect Displays" in System Prefs/Displays. Some people adjust the OS to show a monitor icon in the menu bar, near the clock, and you can access this from there also. If the Mac still detects no external display, suspect the cabling.
    I really question your DVI-RGB adapter, though. That would be highly unusual - are you sure it's not DVI-SVGA, or DVI-component? Do you have the brand and model? I have run my Samsung TV from my MBP just fine with a SVGA cable and DVI-SVGA adapter.

    You can use the two graphics cards, but it's only useful if you have more than two displays. It won't give you higher speed.

  • Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 Update Problem

    Hello, the "Pro Video Formats 2.0.1" update keeps reappearing in my update list, after I've already downloaded and installed the update. It will say it is installed successfully, then check for updates again, and the same update will appear. No matter how many times I install it.
    How can I fix this problem?
    Thank you in advance!

    Me too. And I'm having a further problem with my iMac monitor and mouse. The movements of the latter are either way too slow or way too fast. I suspect these have something to do with the updates, but can't be sure. Definitely not the mouse, because it works fine on another Mac, running an earlier version of the system.

  • MacBook Pro Display Rectangles on the screen

    My Macbook Pro Displays Diagonal Rectangles across the screen. These rectangles also appear when I attach it to an external monitor. Also, when this problem started it will only boot in safe mode.
    Here is a picture of the problem:
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Dou you have an ATO Graphics card? I used to have a similar problem on a Windows machine with an ATI X850XT. I tried taking out and re-installing the card. This fixed the problem for a while. I came back, tried the same, problem solved.
    Don't know what causes it, though... But I don't think it's software related. Could be I'm wrong, though...

  • MacBook Pro display usable as a reference monitor for a camera shoot?

    I am shooting a video project and wish to try and use my 17" Mac Pro display screen as a reference monitor on a live mini-DV camera shoot for focus and color versus lugging around a heavier CRT and battery back. Will the MacPro display be sufficient to significantly judge color, exposure, and focus? I know it's not ideal, but with improvements in LCD displays over the last few years I would like to hear from other users who may have tried using their display screens in this way and see what their results were.
    Many thanks,
    John

    While the answer in itself is probably no, you could however spend some time to get yourself a known comparitive situation. With some careful calibration and comparison to a final result you should be able to get it to a point where, while not perfect, you know what you're going to get.
    By the way, the matte display will produce far more consistent colour than the glossy display.
    Utlimately though for the best results the suggested CRT solution is the one to go for even though it's somewhat a pain.

  • Problem in reading the row values in table display format.

    Hi All
       I created UI asTable display format using three columns( name, email and resume ).
    In this Resume column type is Link to Action. This entire column contains text as Resume  - this element type is Link to action.
    When click on Resume that respective row values I have to capture.
    I have used following code, but It is capturing based on lead selection. ( On the UI, lead selection row is different and clicking on Resume row is different ).
    DATA lo_nd_email TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
      DATA lo_el_email TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
      DATA ls_email TYPE wd_this->element_email.
      DATA lv_email_ref LIKE ls_email-email_ref.
    navigate from <CONTEXT> to <EMAIL> via lead selection
      lo_nd_email = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_email ).
    get element via lead selection
      lo_el_email = lo_nd_email->get_element(  ).
    lo_el_dashboard_1->get_attribute(
        EXPORTING
          name =  `NAEM`
        IMPORTING
          value = lv_name ).
    Please help me on this ..thanks in advance....

    Hi,
       Just declare a variable in the parameters of the method,which u declare for the cell action.
    CONTEXT_ELEMENT      type ref to                      CONTEXT_ELEMENT         as importing paramter
      code:
        context_element->get_static_attributes(
          IMPORTING
            static_attributes = stru_sflight ).
    this will surely solve ur problem
      regards,

  • Date and number display format

    Hello all,
    I am new to Adobe Form, and I am quite unimpressed with how difficult it is to do the most simple things.
    I have managed one way or another to solve all my problems until now, but this one got me stuck.
    I have date and number fields in my form, and here is what I want to do but cannot:
    - I need these fields to be displayed using the defaults date and number settings of the SAP user who is generating the form. This one is really hard for me to figure out.
    - I need some other fields to be displayed in a specific format depending on a variable in the context of my form. I imagine this could be done using scripting, but how to change the display format of a field via scripting?
    Anyone has an idea of how that can be achieved?
    Thank you.

    Hi Thomas,
    For these kind of issues you will get many answers if you search the forum.
    If your requirement is to display the current date in the form, just drag and drop the "Current date" UI element from the Library palette -> Custom.
    If it is to get the date from SAP and display, pass date to the context node and just drag and drop the field into the form from the data view.
    Check the following wiki by Chintan. It explains some common scenarios in javascript.

    [JavaScript Part 2|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAP/JavaScriptforCommonScenarios-PartII]
    Use an 'if' condition, check the value and based on the value you can make the field hide/visible in the form.
    Hope this will help.
    Thanks & Regards,
